Fixing My Old Artwork

Jun 01, 2021
Hello It's Me. I have this box inside. I have a ton of

artwork

from my childhood and I'll go through it and pick out a piece or two or three and remake it as an adult or as an adult. As I will be, I need some water in one of my artistic things to do when you're bored. Videos. This was one of the things I did, but I did a quick version because you know, in those videos I'm like. concentrated on doing a lot of different things in a video that was kind of a shallow swim, let's do a deep dive, well, I don't have any

artwork

like my really little boy, my parents have all that here. stuff mostly ages 10 and up Mariah's random book yeah so random a shame it's already getting to me we got some interesting creatures here yeah me bug mister crooked dung dung okay hey yeah get up now get up now that's not art that might be reason I liked doing this. write words Oh more, what's oranges plus orange juice plus one cup equals orange juice?

That's a brilliant mind, that's a Sharpie-looking Wade. I went through this phase where I try to replace the word weird with Wade and say, oh, that's Wade, I don't. I know it's not funny, it's almost a bit funny, oh that's lovely, that's lovely, okay, it looks like art a bit. The colors in this look look like my sweatshirt. I don't have a stain there, how did that happen? Anyway, look at that. I mean it must be, possibly there's something here, okay, this is the first one I'll pick, let's go for it. Hey, let's have a fabulous little art review.

More Interesting Facts About,

fixing my old artwork...

This piece features a very wavy and wobbly rainbow background. I think I was around 10 years old. 11 when I made this, clearly the rainbow has been a long-standing obsession because I need it, I should have learned how to color the lines by now. I was clearly still struggling with it and they have faces, we get happy, dumb, nerdy, dead or angry, angry and dead. and that's me, I'm going to redraw this in my current sketchbook, which I've only filled like three pages. Shh, without judging, I'm not going to recreate this exactly as is because then we'd end up with the same shitty piece of art just with adult skill, so I'll try to read the work, the composition.

I'm putting all the clouds together and then I'll just have a rainbow behind them spinning, no, that's stupid, just curving around the page. no, that's ugly, you know what? I'm going to have the rainbow shooting through the clouds. New composition. I'm going to keep our heads in the clouds. There's not much to do in this drawing. We really can't spare any details here. Well, the sketch is complete. I'm going to use my lovely paste pens. By the way, I removed the labels from my paste pens because I had a sponsored video a while ago and I needed to get rid of all the logos, so they took the pastes off. interesting things naked, let's drain.

I have a bit of an unfair advantage against my 11-year-old self, aside from the additional 14 years of experience. I'm using paint pens, just look at that, look at this, look at that, this, this, this, that. With this stop, we'll get a bolder color than those nasty little markers I was using before, so we've already made some major improvements to this drawing, but at the same time we're going to set the bar a little low. I have definitely improved. my artistic skills but they are still not very good, it's okay, but it's okay because my goal here is to enjoy making art, it's not about competing with other artists, let's be honest, it's a battle I wouldn't win and I want to set myself up for success here , so I'm going to compete with someone.
I think I have a chance against my 11 year old self. If I can't beat her, we have some problems. Well, it already looks so fresh and those colors are perfect, you know? I complained that paste pens don't offer pastels. I finally found a set of pastel paint pens. I've never used them before, so, okay, here's the pastel blue compared to the lighter blue. Don't even think about pointing out the one that's turquoise. So I'm going to try these, they're a little sheer. Well, we're going to have to work with them. I definitely didn't enjoy using these paint pens as much as the pastes, the fumes that come with them are very strong so you can enjoy them. that just makes you die a little so it's not very fun, plus because they are oil based the paint takes a lot longer to dry and tends to smudge the other colors.
Oh, I'm not in love with these. Say it again Tosca, please get pastel colors, of course, I could use normal paint anyway. I'm going to keep the cartoon look, however, I wanted to give them some kind of dimension and not just like it and, oops, it touches my microphone, so I say! using my different blues to form a shape, give her some body, oh she's got curves. I don't actually remember drawing the clouds and the rainbow, but I do remember drawing the faces because at some point I did the clouds on the rainbow and then I remember even at that moment thinking, wow, that's really complicated, so I did it.
I faced with faces. Honestly, it's a good decision, where would this drawing be without the faces? Now this has to be my favorite part of the drawing. I decided to have the rainbow go through the clouds and then explode into pieces of confetti. I just felt like this drawing needed some kind of action and I couldn't resist putting a black outline around the clouds. Mini-me didn't do that, but you know, she also made a lot of questionable choices to finally remove this extremely useless piece of tape. I don't want to talk about that, cleanup and we went from this to this, honestly, it was a lot of fun and I like the result, you know, the final drawing, I think it's really nice.
I probably would never have done this if it weren't for my previous artwork, the blocky shading on the clouds definitely could have been better, but it's not enough to hate it. I think it's really cute, oh, I already said that, didn't I? You fool, move on Hello, we're back I'm going to change the notebooks, let's see this one. I might have been 13 or 14 when I made this one. There's really no excuse for how terrible anything in this notebook is. Was 14 years old. when I did that 14 I mean, I guess that's what happens when you don't practice.
Did I do anything that was even remotely attractive? I drew, I didn't draw either, this is not giving me anything, my straight diary. I did this in my late teens. I still have a video on my channel of me flipping through this. This was the first art related video I made. it all started here let me see if there's anything I can recreate here oh wow oh that's disgusting yeah there are actually really poorly drawn people coming out that's still a problem for me this is kind of interesting I think I can improve by less a little. about this and this is a cool concept, I think I'm going to go ahead with this, let's do it since it's a mess.
The page of this journal was obviously made to follow the message which is to draw lines with your pen or pencil, lick your finger and smear the lines so what we are saying here is that this page is simply soaked in saliva no, not really I licked nothing. I only used water. I wanted a more dramatic smear and also thought it was pretty gross to move on. licking my fingers, the obvious area of opportunity is this poor girl, considering some of the other things I saw in this book, she's actually not terrible, she has some good qualities, from her snake eye to her noodle legs, the shape in which his right foot is perfectly hidden behind. she left so I didn't have to draw her the way her hands are just blurry blobs so I didn't have to draw them now to mention she's carrying a brick let's move on to the next page of my sketchbook and I'm I'm going to create this in landscape orientation here we go, I'm going to crop it a little bit and zoom in zoom make it a little bit bigger because I want to get better details on it, we're going to give it some real hands, so let's get this statement out of the way.
I'm not the best at drawing people and every time I draw a person in a video I get those comments like you know you should do anatomy studies and draw every day for 30 minutes and I. I just don't want to know that they are right, if I did all those things, my drawing skills would definitely improve. I mean, if I feel like practicing, I will, but I have no interest in making art a chore. It's always been a fun thing and I'm fine with just getting better naturally. I'm using some gorgeous watercolors. Here you can definitely tell which colors interest me the most.
Okay, let's paint it like I said. This original drawing came from my Wreckfish Journal, the first art related thing on my channel, for some reason Wreckfish Journal was the first time I started trying it with my art, which is so backwards because the point of ruining this diary is literally ruining it, it has nothing to do with it. with creating art, but I don't know, maybe this book took some of the pressure off me, oh yeah, his skin is pretty orange. I tried to adjust and fix it. I'm having trouble creating decent skin tones. I always feel like this.
It's kind of weird, don't you mean waiting like it's the wrong tone? Obviously this girl has a little more detail than our original girl, but I try to keep the same look of her with the pink dress and long brown hair once she got the watercolor done. dry I went over it again with some colored pencils. I know I'm making a lot of fun of my old art, but it's really just because roasting is one of my favorite pastimes. I don't want to make anyone who is currently there feel bad. A beginner artist, no matter what your age, it takes practice to improve, you're not just born with drawing skills, so it's not something to feel bad about if you're not the best at the moment, just laugh and keep trying, Fortunately she didn't.
She comes off as scary as some of the other people I've drawn for myself. I think she's decent. I mean, it's a profile that I feel is much easier to draw than a straight one, you only have to draw one side of the face. so you know you don't have to worry about that annoying symmetry, so now I just have to make this colorful stripes or rain background. I don't know what this thing is that falls from the sky. I'm going crazy adding it. tons of colorful stripes this was so much fun and it was absurd and satisfying Oh, it's back baby, okay from this to this, there's a nine year difference right there, a pretty big improvement.
I would say she changed direction. The new girl still looks a little. Orange, especially compared to that old drawing, but I never expected it to be perfect overall. I think she looks good. Are we ready for another? We'll find one more in this book, so I'll keep browsing and see what else I can. find ok, collect dead bugs, here are the instructions and I had no problem putting chewed gum in my book, but apparently I drew the line at putting dead bugs in my book. I decided to just draw them and honestly some of these. I'm not going to lie, our low-key cute guy like this one, it's pretty cute, so I'm going to go with this one, okay, so somehow this drawing of insects bleeding and literally dying is, in my opinion, the best done of all the ones I've done.
I've tried so far to recreate X's little eyes and the way his tongues stick out and how blood just drips from his wounds. That's actually not that nice. Also, I hate this one, it just makes me feel so uncomfortable. We can ignore it. I think we can't have fun with this drawing. I'm going to start by creating more of a scenario. I want to create like the backstory, the reason for her death, so I drew a spider web that way, it will look like all these insects were caught in the web dying and they are surprised that she did it.
I think there are a couple of things that stand out here, namely this caterpillar, so I'm going to draw it here even though they're usually not winged insects that get caught in spider webs, because they don't. they fly over there, maybe he just fell off a tree branch and landed right there, clumsy boy, now you're dead. Well, next I'm going to choose this little guy who is clearly cute, so let's add him in there too and I want to make three so who else? Oh, I just noticed this strapping little boy. I ended up choosing this one at random.
I kept the same shapes and proportions as the originals. The main difference will be the color. Wow, I'm dizzy. using colored pencils for this one. I love how each of these drawings were done in a different medium that worked really well. I used colored pencils originally but this time wrong. I hope to do a better job with the shading. I'm using the same color but also adding more color variation in there. I really want these to pop off the page like your eyes are trying so hard that your eyes just pop out, which is actually pretty scary.
These are some fat bugs, although compared to this small net, I feel like they could have escaped. Let's not pretend my art will ever make sense by adding her legs and I think this looks great on thefollowing. I have no idea what kind of bug. or insect, this is what it looks like. I don't use references for this. I just copied my previous design and then made up the rest. I don't really care about the actual anatomy of the bug today talk to me tomorrow and it will definitely be my number one priority why your butt today I really don't care oh and now I've used the words bug and bug interchangeably when they aren't the same thing but I always forget which one is difference these are the things you learn in school and then eventually I forget about the lower part of his body, it looks a little weird, oh, that's Wade, I couldn't imagine what the lower part of an insect looks like, oh, God I have no idea how to draw wings, this is me trying after filming this video.
I found more old works of art. In fact, I have a folder with some loose drawings. There are some real gems in there and I'm finishing up some of the details on it. Oh, who knew a painful death could be so adorable? I'm not a psychopath and finally this. one, a species of beetle with fly wings and a mosquito's mouth. I don't know. I tried to draw these transparent wings on his body. I thought it was going to be very difficult, but it was actually much easier to draw. something transparent when there is a background instead of these other ones where there is nothing behind it his eyes are definitely not one of them is sticking out a lot more than the other which bothers me a little oh the bug eyes on the bug are bothering me funny the veins are a nice touch adding her little bug freckles and her legs adding a nice listen to her body now I'm just going to work on finishing the background.
I'm adding some shadows and then sharpening the net so you can see it. a little better and the before and after is done. I think the new version looks much cooler and more interesting. I left some of them out, but I wanted to spend more time on them individually, so sometimes you know you have a tidy up to make the things you have shine and look their best, except when it comes to my Squishy shelf. I need them all there anyway. This was a very fun video for me. I hope you enjoyed it too. Thank you very much for Looking and see you next week bye.
