Fixing GM's Big FAIL on The C8 Convertible Corvette!!

Hey guys, welcome back to the front seat driver. My name is Jason. Today's video is something that I'm very excited about. You know I have a 2023 C8

convertible

. The downside to the

convertible

is that you can't see the engine compartment well. AMT Custom Designs has rectified that situation, they have a glass cover that allows you to see through the engine compartment. It replaces the black heat shield you have, so it's something I'm really excited about. However, when you get the C8, convertible does not have an engine cover, so they have rectified that situation as well and I have to install a new accelerated yellow engine cover.

We're going to install the glass cover today and check this out. I'm even more excited about this. The tunnel has these covers that they've done custom AMT designs that we're going to install and check it out, says front seat driver, so I'm really excited to put them on, so everyone stay tuned, so here we are, we've got the engine. cover here and as you can see there is a location for four different screws and we're going to go ahead and install this right now so the first step is going to be opening up the Tonio cover so after we lift up the tonneau cover the next step is that there are 18 screws around the perimeter of this heat shield, all of these around the edge and we're going to go ahead and remove them right now, so now all the screws are out and we're going to go ahead. and remove the heat shield so this is what you have under the factory heat shield so I guess GM decided there was no reason to spend the money on a nice engine cover when it wasn't going to be visible anyway for them. foreign, so it comes with four bolts to go ahead and fix this in place.

Okay, something I wanted to show you because this was giving me some problems. If you see here, this bracket was screwed underneath and I couldn't get it out. I couldn't get the bolt in from the top, the screw wouldn't go in, I lifted it up and realized there was a screw underneath so I pulled it out and it didn't look right and as soon as I slid this part out. and on top of that, that bolt now fits and everything fits nice and snug, there's more room here, before there was no room there, so I just want to make sure that you guys are aware of that, so not without a little trial and error, finally we made it, we need to clean it up.

I've got some hand prints all over it, but it looks fantastic, let's move on, so the next step is to go ahead and remove these two pieces that you're going to need. to go to the glass, so there are screws underneath here that we're going to remove and install on the next piece of glass. Okay, like I said, the next step is to remove the four bolts here and the four bolts here. We're going to install them on the glass so if there's any questions about who did this it's here AMT Custom Designs check them out so just look at the difference so this is the before this is going to be the after we just need to get the two covers. installed and then we're going to put this on the car, so the last step is there's a bag with these 18 washers that go with the 18 screws that you're just going to slide over the screw and we're going to screw it in, we do it all. 18 of them and then we're done guys this is the final product the clear engine cover and of course the actual yellow throttle engine cover and then the plexiglass engine cover with the yellow ring and it's AMT Custom Designs who made this. so everything looks so good, much better than it looked before, the only thing we have left is the ton of covers here, we're going to go ahead and clean this area and install them, so the next thing we're going to do is install from AMT Customs designs is the tonu cover.

I'm going to go here, one in the middle and one on the end, so we're going to remove the double-sided tape. I'm going to try to get it all this time and then we're going to install them. I've already cleaned it with rubbing alcohol and a cloth to make sure it's nice and clean, so we'll have something nice to surf on, a nice surface for everything to stick to. So here is the final product, the plexiglass cover which is much better than the black one where you couldn't see it and of course the yellow revving engine cover, all of this custom designs from AMT and of course the cover tonu and that thing.
