First Wash in 35 Years: Ford F250 BARN FIND With 17k Original Miles! | Satisfying Restoration

Apr 27, 2024
We found a custom 1977 Ford F250 that has been stored in this

barn

for the last 35

years

and the crazy thing about this truck is that it only has 177,000 Mi, but

first

we have to move all this stuff to get it out of here, but getting it out goes. "It's a big deal, but to get here, let's go back to the beginning when we

first

found the truck, so we've already seen this truck a few times because, believe it or not, it's in the exact same farm as the Corvettes. Actually, somehow we are hidden there, somehow, there are a lot of really cool cars in excellent condition that were never driven This thing is the coolest truck I have ever seen, especially with this off-road equipment that I think it is. .all factor yeah yeah yeah so it's a custom F250 but it says explore on the entire truck and I mean I know Ford explores as an SUV but this is before that so it looks like it was an option on this truck. to be equipped for sweet off-roading, that must have been like another, it's the package out of the package, like they do today with the Ford F250 Tremor Edition, so it was an addition to this truck, the amount of dirt and dust. in this could be the most in terms of thickness of Dirt and dust like this is like half an inch of dirt on this car, it's not even dust anymore, it's dirt, we're going to ruin the shop pretty bad with this one, yeah, here there's the custom F250 badge, absolutely covered up and it worked. too good, oh, it stinks, dude, cool interior, though, oh yeah, the plid is, this is really cool, it smells really bad, though, wow, RJ, this truck only has 177,000 Mi, I mean, it looks like the The interior roof is impeccable, the dashboard is nice, I love it. this has no rips in the leather or vinyl interior painted like metal free exposed metal is so cool nothing has that no way this is a really cool truck well once we take everything out we will really see if it has 177,000 Mi but yeah I bet so, man, the only question is how we're going to get this out of here, so I made that face because we have a lot of work to do, almost all of it from this barrel.

It needs to be moved out of this garage and these barrels are full, I believe, of motor oil, so they probably weigh 600 pounds a piece somewhere out there. This is going to be a chore and I didn't have breakfast, you know, we have a lot of comments from people who think we faked some of this stuff. I don't fake any of this. Okay, this is a lot of work and we know we are very proud of what we do and sometimes it sucks. work so hard to make people think we're just fakers or that we don't do this for real, if we were to pretend, I'd at least put empty drums in here, yeah, instead of full ones, you know, but also if we were so good at pretending This, we just worked for Hollywood on movie sets and made a lot more money and probably worked less, so anyway now we start getting all this stuff out of the way and we realize too late that we should probably start bringing in respirators. for all this kind of stuff from now on, but to save a truck like this it's definitely worth getting all this stuff out of the way, getting the truck out, and then moving it all back to the vehicle owner the way they have it. somewhere to put it once we're done.

I know what the owner would want if he sold it, so I'm curious to know what you guys think, buddy. Throwing out M, okay, no, we're playing with Mike, did you notice the pinstripe on the edge that matches the guy in the truck? That's cool, oh, it's red and it's red and white. Is there blue too? oh, it's red, white and blue. That's cool, look at all the dust falling from inside the cracks of a dry red tire, okay, let's roll, ma, roll, R, we're losing air pretty fast, but it goes D, we get it out, buddy, the first time you see sunlight. in 35

years

, wow this is so cool, oh my god what do you think dude that's cool?

I love it buddy and now as we start loading the truck you guys are about to see something we couldn't even believe happened with our trailer, check this out, that's the trailer wheel, this is the other wheel buddy , that's to the inch and honestly, thank God, we have this door here that we can take out and make it removable because once this is in, I can do it. Make it fit, how am I going to get out? You have to travel there for the entire truck. I won't be sitting here for an hour. I just want to show everyone what your face looks like after you take all that out.
The

barn

looks beautiful, doesn't it? Your mustache is dark, you're super dirty, good job buddy, thanks, you worked hard today. Thanks, okay, so somehow we managed to get this into the trailer. Seriously, maybe an inch fit on both sides. and maybe an inch at the top too, so somehow we have it here safely and now we see it for the first time inside the store and obviously the first thing you notice is that we have like an inch of dust that has settled accumulated over the last 35 years, I mean, this is going to look like we're pressure

wash

ing the mud off this car, the dust is so thick there's a little pitting on the side here, so you know, it looks a little tattered but once we clean it and polish it I think it will have a nice patina and I can still make it shine so it will look great once finished.
I think this truck looks ridiculously cute and has a little damage to it, which was a funny story from the farmer who owned this truck where it was parked in that garage, in that little tight corner in the back, a cow actually ran into it. He stood next to the truck and couldn't go back and walked along the side and bent all of this with his shoulder. He said, so I had to try to get the cow out of here before it did any more damage to the truck, so we've got a little damage here, let's see if maybe after they clean this up I can try to repair it, he asked me nicely.
If I could try and I will do the best I can first. First we have to clean these wheels and then right after we're done, we have to clean all this junk off of this. bed so we don't get it all wet and make a big mess, let's get to it, so for these wheels, like any other barn, these tires will obviously have to be replaced, but we'll still do our best. work, so we're going to clean the rims with Puro and the rims with our iron remover and then, like Mike said, after we clean all four wheels and the wheel wells, we're going to move to the platform that way it doesn't comes back It's going to be a mess for us later so our method for cleaning this bed is going to be to degrease it and then pressure

wash

it, then use a soap with a broom to try to shake it up a little bit and wash halfway around the outside and then wash all of that pressure and then after the complete wash of the truck out of the chamber, we will rinse it one more time and now before we wash anything, we will remove this protector from the front of the truck and vacuum all the clogs inside. the engine bay that way it's easier to clean later, now it's time to pressure wash all the gunk out of the truck and inside our pump sprayer is a pre-rinse which is the Puro All Purpose Cleaner.
If you are looking for an all purpose cleaner it is down in the description below but it will loosen all the dirt from the top of the paint that way we can pressure wash it with ease and if you guys

find

this satisfactory be sure to like the video, it really helps now while pressure washing. Off this hood, look what we discovered with the paint, it's a lot cooler than we could have expected. Oh, so this F250 came with two engines. I believe in this setup, whether it's a 351 or a 400, so it's a 6.6L gas engine and this is the 400, this thing is in bad condition, there have been rodents, everyone here stinks, so yeah, this one Things seemed like better days, but usually rjs here, um Brent, do you know where Archie is?

Plus, if you subscribe you'll save another 15% on top of that, thanks. to protect you for sponsoring this video now let's get back to the F250 RJ you look hydrated thank you thank you brother okay I'm going to take this and take off this old Ford just because we don't want to destroy this, it's already destroyed pretty good and now we're going to cover the carburetor with a plastic bag that way we can wash the motor primer and not have to worry about water getting into the motor while we do it, there was also a significantly thick layer of grease inside the base of the motor so with a plastic knife I We are going to remove it and then it looks much better and lastly before we put soap on the Ford we are going to clean the underside but while we are under the truck I wanted to To ask them how we know if it is a tall guy or not, RJ looked up the VIN of the truck and said it was a 1977.5 truck, but couldn't

find

if it was a tall boy or not, someone online said the transmission would be a good indicator, if you know, let us know in the comments, and just to add freshness to the truck, we discovered that by using a brush on the Explorer badge, you can flip it over and it has two sides. right inside, this thing is dirty, there are a lot of mice in here, there is so much poop, so I will do it shortly after talking about it.
I have to put my mask on before I do anything, but I want to talk about a couple of interesting things about this truck, literally everything is red besides the steering wheel and the cluster, the doors are red, the dashboard is red, the carpet was red , the seats are red, up top, red, everything is red, so that's pretty interesting back then in '77, definitely didn't have a lot of creature comforts in trucks like these, this one was lucky enough to get radio heat and cooling , that's about it besides the four-wheel drive system here, but it's a really interesting aspect that I don't think.
What I've ever seen or didn't know is the fuel tank that back here now this truck has two fuel tanks so there's one back here and then there's another one in the back of the truck. I'm not exactly sure why they did things like that and didn't make a big tank. If you know, write it in the comments below. I'd love to know more anyway. It's time for me to put on my mask and start cleaning this carpet. As for the door cards, we actually took them off the car because a PDR guy came out and removed those dents from the doors that we didn't end up getting pictures of because you couldn't actually see them on the camera, but because of that , we were able to clean the cards off the doors, which made them a lot easier to clean and then we put them back in the truck, so I tried to open the glove box and I saw that we were going to have a surprise in there, uh, this button seems to be frozen, so I'm going to use some of this deep penetrating oil to hopefully free it up there and get this button, oh, make this button move, come on, feel like the button isn't supposed to point like that oh, I think I got it ready oh boy oh oh boy oh my gosh I have to spray these hinges it's a little tight but it's a little corroded no wonder I couldn't open it.
Go now. I know why I wasn't opening it buddy, this is huge, this is the entire glove box, oh my god, oh that's ithuge, well let's clean that up right now before we continue, come on, come on, now for the seat, this was super

satisfying

for me personally because it's clear that mice have been walking on it for the last 35 years, so first I I vacuumed and then took a tornador to remove any extra dust or anything that had been embedded in it and then removed the fabric. the interior and used proo to clean the leather around it and it made the difference between day and night.
Come on, we also mentioned this in the last Corvette video, but when we flip the seat, that's how we have a pretty good one. Inclination that this car, this truck, only has the 177,000 Mi that is actually on the odometer if this were 117 there would be a lot more grease in there at least there would be a rear D yeah now let's pull out the mats and luckily the owner They put down carpets in the 70's. I guess there was no floor. mats for this truck so he went to a store and bought red mats and put them on the floor and it actually protected the carpet and then lastly before we go back to finish the exterior we're going to clean all the windows and put the machine on. ozone inside the truck so we can kill all the bacteria and get rid of the smell.
Okay, the truck is decontaminated and clay-free so we're ready to start polishing and of course I'm going to take a look. Paint first to see what I'm working with and all we see is a ton of rust. There is some of this drip. I'm not sure what caused something in the barn to spill on it and unfortunately it will be damaged. Beyond repair, at least from a detailed perspective, but hey, I'll let you in on a little secret. I've already polished most of the truck and you can see the contrast right there, from polished to unpolished, but it's fun to work on. on trucks like these or vehicles like these where the patina goes hand in hand with the style of the truck.
I think it actually looks really cool on an old farm truck, especially if you saw this driving on the street. You know this truck has I did some work, you know, it ran on a farm or at least that's the aesthetic. From a polishing perspective, I don't have to try too hard or worry too much about getting the paint perfect because that's not possible. with the pitting on the side of the doors and bed, it ends up being a pretty easy job overall and the goal is just to remove some of that oxidation, bring back the depth and color and make your shine shine a little now.
I'm going to polish some Chrome when I first saw this rusty circle on the right side. I thought maybe I could use a rust remover and see if letting it sit long enough would help remove all that rust, but it ended up being a stain. That used to be painted and over time it ruined the whole piece, so that's something that would have to be completely redone, but I think the rest of the bumper turned out really, really well. Oh luckily the truck is finished because I'm absolutely exhausted, it's been a long week getting this truck in this state so we're about to load it on the trailer and get ready to return it to the owner.
Now it's time to get back to the second part of the Corvette saga, so I'll give you a little preview of what's to come, the 25th anniversary pace car 19 78, here's your first clue, this is a plastic of the dealer that's still there, we're not going to show you everything that we're going to show on the odometer. We're giving it a single digit because we think this could be one of the lowest, if not the lowest, 1978 Corvettes in the world.
