Three hundred dollars, two hundred and ninety-eight dollars on sale, so it looks like it's a beautiful piece. It's made up of hundreds of goose feathers painted silver and it's in a frame, so I think it's something I could create, but before doing it I always wondered how they collected the feathers to make these things. I'll look up to see. with how that's done, okay, so I wanted to make sure that they weren't killing geese to do this, they're not killing geese, but what they do is they actually pluck the feathers from the geese and it seems really cruel and painful, so I don't I don't want to do anything to contribute to that happening so I want to make amends because I think it's beautiful so I'll find a way to recreate something that looks like this without feathers and you know what I do.

More Interesting Facts About,

featherless zgallerie inspired feathered silver wall art diy...

I think I have an idea, follow me. I have piles of paper lying around my office. This could work. It is white like feathers. As light as my feathers. And hey, I use paper to make flowers. Why not use paper to make feathers? I think this could be it. great solution let's try it so I think most large goose feathers are about 10 inches so I'm going to start with a stack of eight and a half by 11 copy paper and roughly draw out some large goose feather shapes for do. This looks more like real feathers. I'm going to place little curved indentations around the edges to make them look like feathers when joined together into a small hair of feathers separated at different points on the feather.

Okay, now I'm going to take this drawing, what a stack of ten sheets, and put this aside. I also want to have medium sized feathers, so I'm going to turn the paper horizontally to draw feathers that are about seven to eight inches long and I'm drawing. These are the same way as the large ones, but this time I can fit six on the page. Now once again I am taking this sheet with the drawing in a stack of 10 sheets, I will put them aside and now I would like to draw small feathers, but first I am going to draw a line in the middle of this paper.

On this sheet I was able to draw 12 feathers, so now I'm ready to cut 10 stacks of small, medium and large feathers, and they have enough variety to make them look like unique and different feathers, so I'll take the first stack and cut one feather at a time and I will cut out all the notches, then I will hold the ten pieces together and fold the piece in half so I can make a column in the center of the feathers and lastly I will make small slits along the side of the stack. I'm going to cut at the appropriate angle.
These slits will be about an eighth of an inch apart and are actually like little fringes around the edges to give it the appearance of little feather hairs. After making the fringes all around, you need to separate each piece by pulling on the bottom stem and I'm going to stack all the feathers the same, but I think this will be perfect, this is what one of the large feathers looks like cut out, so I'm going to stack this group and I'll finish cutting the rest. I'm going to switch to my favorite scissors. They actually work much better, it's a role.
Wow, they really look a lot like real feathers. I want to show you the difference between one with long slits and well, with short slits, the little fringes that I see when I have those short fringes. like a nice uniform feather and with the long fringes it makes the fringes roll up a little so it looks like a fluffy feather and I have a variety of different sizes so they all look like different unique feathers and I think when it's all put together it will be perfect , so all my stacks are cut out now and they have 40 large feathers, 60 medium feathers, and 120 small feathers, so now we're going to take them outside to spray paint them and turn all of my feathers silver.
I'm using metallic oxide-oleum. aluminum spray paint now the way you use that spray paint is to take each group and spread them out from the center point all the way around and make sure the stems come together at the center point now as this paper is Light as a feather, you need a weight to hold these pieces while you are supreme. I had these little desert shot glasses floating around and you want something that you don't mind putting silver paint on. These came three in a package from Dollar Tree and this silver spray paint I bought at Walmart. for about four bucks okay so I'm going to give my feathers a nice even coat of silver spray paint and I'm going to make sure you have gloves because you're going to have to move them around while you blow a little bit and win and with a spray paint after you spray these feathers everywhere, you can take the cup and spray the middle just to get the tips and do it quickly before the wind blows them away.
I'm spraying two light coats and you only have to spray one side. After each group dries, gather them into groups and place them in a large bag. I want to try to keep all the light groups together and you're going to do the exact same thing with the medium and small feathers after I finish creating my super. feathers I went out looking for a frame that was similar to the inspiration piece. I couldn't find a framed display box as the inspiration piece, but I found this pretty wall mirror with a beveled mirror frame and I thought it would be great as an open frame for the feathers, now this mirror is not as big as the inspiration one, which measures 35:35 inches.
This one measures 19 by 26 inches and really is a nice, heavy, strong piece for only $35. I found this mirror at Walmart. ok, I have all my feathers spray painted silver and three different bags for a small, medium and large. I'm going to start with the large feathers and gather the feathers that are the same into sections near the frame so I can grab them easily. I'm going to start by placing the largest feathers near the outside edge of the mirror and I want to arrange these feathers so that they are all different, so I put them in piles so I can place a different feather next to the previous one and they will all appear to have a naturally unique look for each of them.
Now I'm putting them around and I'll position them to make sure they're where I want them. and then I have to cut off most of the tips of those feathers when they meet the center. Now that I have this first layer in position, I'm going to start gluing them together. I'm using Gorilla Clear Grip glue and hot glue. glue since hot glue does not stay on glass very well for a long period of time. I am using this gorilla glue on the pieces that I have glued to the glass. I'm also going to use the hot glue gun just to glue.
I took it down immediately, used gorilla glue dots about an inch apart and am putting hot glue between those spaces. The blue goes from the bottom almost to the top of the pen. I did this on each of my large feather pieces and this is my First layer now on this mirror frame. I'm not going to use all of my large feather pieces here. I used about 24 pens. Now next I'm going to start placing my medium sized feather pieces and I want these pieces to fall about an inch. below the larger piece, so I'm going to cut these stems accordingly and this time I'm going to put clear Gorilla Grip glue on the bottom where it meets the mirror.
The rest, since it sticks to the paper, I'll use hot glue and this time. I'm not going to go all the way to the store instead of being flat like the inspiration piece. I want them to fan out and have a more three dimensional look and this is my second layer with the medium sized pieces below that I'm gluing together. one layer of the smaller feathers and these will also go about an inch below the medium sized feathers and this is what the third layer looks like. Now I'm going to make another layer of small pieces.
I'm going to cut them even shorter and Fannie is in the middle, but I'm going to put glue right on the bottom edge because I want the outside edges to sit and then I'm going to put one more little layer and really fold them up and finally cut two or three more small pieces and glue the toes up in the center, okay, now I think I'm done, although looking at it, the Z Gallerie piece has a more square look, so I'm going to use some of these smaller feathers and place them between the edges and this will give you a more defined rectangle look and since these new pieces will be touching the mirror, I'll just go in with some clear Gorilla grip glue, pick them up and new pieces and put a little bit of glue underneath, now that It's more similar.
I think it's time to hang this in my living room so for only $40 I just created my own $300 silver feather wall art, cool here next to mine oh it made glass. Oh, by hand. and look at this piece, what do you think? How do you think I made that piece? Well, I guess you have a mirror, maybe some mirrors, cut them up, put them together and I got a bunch of what look like bird feathers and I spray painted them and then maybe layered them together like this, almost like a flower. Would you believe these are not feathers at all?
Oh wow, they're actually made of paper. Wow, I never understood so many details. Well, mission accomplished. I didn't hurt any birds to do this.
