Hi Harv. She now just soaks up everything around her. The odds were against her from the beginning. I named her Harvey after Hurricane Harvey. Devastating flooding due to the speed at which this storm moves. It was getting bigger and stronger and getting closer. We weathered the

hurricane

well. But the flood is really what destroyed our... our city. My husband noticed a calf in a puddle of water in our pasture that was starting to flood. My husband came out and went into the laundry room and put her to bed. The first thing I did was try to warm it up.

She was shaking, she was wet. Her mouth was frozen. Her body temperature was extremely low. I told our friends who were here, "You probably won't make it. Don't get too attached." I called Sealy's vet. She told me that she should just let Sealy in. Sealy had no mother and Sealy was abandoned. It was the same thing Harveyigh was going through. It just made sense to let Sealy into the laundry room. She immediately went there and started licking his face, like her mom would do. Her little eyes widened. She really stayed by her side. Sealy made Harveigh feel safe, so I let the seven dogs in.

And they all took

their

turn kissing her and smelling her. She slept right here in the laundry room. There was a store that was open. My husband drove about 20 miles to get her milk. She totally trusts us. She didn't know any different. -Moo ended up taking her to the vet a couple of days later. They suggested that she keep it in the laundry or at

home

, just because she had no immune system. We just let her in, walked around and hung out with the dogs. She had many odds stacked against her and she kept beating them.

Harveigh got his Sealy fighting spirit from her. Sealy's story is... it's very similar. The Sealy Police Department had found a litter of puppies on a dirt road. And they actually found Sealy on the hot cement. She had small burn marks all over her paws, and even one on her chin. There was great concern because the puppies did not survive. Sealy simply had a strong will to survive. She has no fear at all. She just loves life. Sealy helped Harveigh trust people and other animals. After the

hurricane

passed, we let Harvey out into the front yard. I think she was probably confused, thinking she was one of the dogs.

Her personality really started to come out. Harveigh was banging his head on Sealy's belly to try to get milk out of her. And Sealy was so tolerant that she just let her do it. He knew she was going to be okay. There isn't a day that Sealy and Harveigh don't see each other. The relationship was more of a mother/daughter type. But now that Harveigh is getting older, she's becoming more of a friend. -He loves her milk. Sealy also loves her milk. Harvey just turned six months old. That's why Harveigh spends most of her time outdoors.

Well. That's all. Come on. She loves to be brushed. There you go. Are you ready for your photo session? Sealy and Harveigh are going to make a calendar to raise money for Fort Bend Pets Alive!, which is an organization that supports our local shelters. It's like a full circle. Now my little rescues are helping. - How pretty. - Where are you going? - No. - Ah, here we go. Good girl. Harveigh will eventually come here, graze and hang out with her other cow friends. Of all the cows, Harveigh is the most interested in Roxie. My son showed it for 4H.

After we finished showing Roxie, she just didn't want to not know where she would end up. It really started to get to me. So at that moment I thought, "Let this pack live and be happy." Roxie seems to be really interested in Harvey. And Harveigh is still a little shy. But I think that will be the first relationship when Harveigh moves to the pasture. It's really cool to watch her explore. Harveigh and Sealy will always have a special bond and relationship. They found each other and simply love life. She seems to be quite happy. Letting her go is going to be a little difficult.

But if she is happy, then I am happy. Here we are, six months later, and she is healthy and thriving. I can't forget this little calf that was almost dead in my laundry room. In fact, he beat all those odds and here he is.
