Hello everyone. Welcome to our channel. I'm Andy and this is a study of two perspectives. Today we are going to make some

fake

popcorn

in a cute container. The first thing you'll need for this is some expanded clay and To use some from Great Creations, you'll need a

popcorn

mold which you can get from Etsy sellers like Annie's Treasures and what we're going to do is take some expanded clay and make sure to always seal your bags and squeeze out any air because foam clay is an air-drying clay and tends to dry out easily. Clay always needs to be conditioned.

Now I'm using gloves which will make the clay stick, but there's a little secret to that. use a little bit of Pam spray on your gloves and on your mold and I'm just going to grease the inside of the mold and then what we're going to do is use a little bit and we're going to make it look like this. more like buttered popcorn the Antique White Apple Barrel is perfect for that you only need a very small amount and what we will do here is where the gloves came from we will simply condition the paint directly into the clay now these decorative popcorn containers Corn kernels are perfect for a man cave or a media room or a cute decoration for a kids playroom or a nice birthday gift, they look very realistic and the more time you take to make the popcorn kernels , the more realistic your final piece will be, so this is a little bit closer to the color of buttered popcorn, so what you're going to do is take just a small amount.

More Interesting Facts About,

Each cavity in the popcorn molds is a little different and that's what makes your piece look a little more realistic when using all six. From the popcorn cavities, each piece comes out a little different, just like if you were making real popcorn, each piece looks a little different, so we'll go ahead and fill each cavity. I may have left too much in that one, but I think it's okay. Also, they don't all have to be the same size. Once we filled our cavities, we scooped out the popcorn pieces. How cute, it's very realistic, but we'll make it look even better here in a minute, we get all of these out and then I'll take some of the classic Apple Barrel candy, you just need a little bit and a small paintbrush, just dip the end of the paintbrush in some paint and find the area of the popcorn where it could be seen. there was a kernel now looks even better and make each piece where you can find the popcorn kernel and you will have some pretty realistic looking pieces of popcorn.

I'm going to save this for now, you'll probably need about 150 or so small pieces of popcorn to make this project, it doesn't take long to make. I made mine in about 30 minutes, all set, painted and starting to dry. You can let them dry completely before continuing with the project. Most of mine are dry and I think we can probably get on with the rest, we just set them aside and clean my surface a little bit and what we're going to do with our I'm going to take off my gloves now that we're at it. What we're going to do with our popcorn container is fill it with whatever you have lying around to fill the bucket at the bottom because this is a fairly sized container and you really don't want to fill this whole thing with clay.

I took two. empty toilet paper rolls and I have my hot glue gun. I'm just going to give it a little bit of glue on the bottom and just a little bit on the sides and I'm going to go ahead and put it up to here to where it's sticking, I might put a little bit more on the side just to make sure it's okay and stuck there, then I have two more that I flattened. I'm going to press and glue the ones at the top that we're just filling. the space filling the void and I'll take this last one I need more glue put it on the other side press that down put a new glue stick here then I have some aluminum foil that I'm just going to put on the top Okay, I took a sheet Any color foam is fine because you are going to cover it with popcorn, but I tried to use a lighter color, I couldn't find anything white, so I used pink, we are going to put it near the top and then we can start building our popcorn on top, so I made sure to keep this under the little ridges on the side of the container so you don't see it, but I don't want to push it around. too low because that's just going to increase the amount of popcorn that I'm going to have to put in here, so now that we have the bucket full we can start applying the popcorn and I do this with hot glue just a little bit at a time.
When starting on a section you don't have to be too careful with it, too precise, you want it to look as realistic as possible, getting it in there before the glue dries is the most important thing so you can see how we're doing. We're going to progress with that, so we'll do it section by section and if a little bit hangs off the sides, that's okay too. I think we could make it go down the side to give it a whimsical effect, but you know, when someone fills your popcorn, there's definitely stuff that falls over the side and hits the floor and everything else because we always overfill our popcorn container. of corn.
I know. I love popcorn. I just continue to place my popcorn kernels making sure they stick to the glue you don't. I want something to come out. I see that the first layer almost covers the entire top, so now what we can do is build a little more. Make sure all that pink is not visible on the sheet below. I should have used white. You'll remember it for next time and you don't want to put too much glue on it and keep your glue more visible than anything else, you just want to make sure you have it in the places where the popcorn will sit. and because we have to do the second layer, as long as we strategically place this popcorn here, none of that glue will show and feel free to give it a little push there, it won't damage anything, just make sure you don't. burn yourself with hot glue.
I've done it once or twice and it doesn't feel right now with this second layer you're going to want to be a little more cautious about where and how you place your carales and your popcorn. pieces because this is the layer that is going to really show off your creation and you want it to look as realistic as possible. I know I get a lot of comments from people when I make these, they say, "OMG, this looks good enough to eat." Say yes, that's the point, so we start building our second layer here. You will adhere some of these glue strips which you will probably want to fix.
I need to clean. Well, some of my paint was wet and I didn't want to. rub it all over the popcorn so all we do is continue section by section just putting in little by little pressing down to make sure all the popcorn sticks and doesn't come out and you can do this the same manner. As high as you want. I know some popcorn containers are really, really full when you buy them at the movies, they're like overflowing with popcorn, so it depends on how high you want to make it, there's a lot of hot glue strands on this one, but that's it. pretty easy to fix looks good so far needs a little bit more here we need to make our sides pretty even I think and make sure none of that piece is showing underneath so your phone piece now we've got it all pretty good disguised. we just need to start placing the last pieces we want on top one by one a little bit more on this side.
I think this is one of the benefits of using the six cavities is that some of the pieces are larger and some are smaller, so you can always get just what you need to fit in a particular space. My glue is getting very stringy today. I think we're almost done, maybe a little bit more at the top, then we have to decide which is the front. I'm not sure if I like it better. or this one, I think I might like the other side a little bit more, just put one piece here and then we'll move on to the front.
I need just one more right there, oh gosh, so I'm thinking we should make this the one on the front and by doing that we're going to make this look prettier. I'm just going to put, since I have more here, I'm just going to put a little bit more on top of a container this size. I guess you probably need about aund and well. I don't know I think I made about 150 we can use all of this okay so this is going to be our front side on this side so what we're going to do is make it look like some pieces are falling off the top. .
On the sides, get rid of that glue, then at the bottom we make a little pile down here, we'll make a little pile and what I'm going to do is use my glue gun, you can also use resin for this. and I'll probably put some colored resin sprinkled on top just to give it an extra touch of

fake

butter and we'll mix it up momentarily, but in this little pile of popcorn at the bottom, waiting for my glue gun to go reheat I can do I don't know what it's going to do I think my glue gun is a little cold it still doesn't want to dispense the glue it gets a little hotter it doesn't even work on the side which is unfortunate it usually doesn't work work when you're on camera use just a little bit of super glue here put that piece back there yeah, it doesn't like plastic.
I think my glue got too cold towards the bottom and didn't want to stick, but that's okay. Look how the glue has frozen on the bottom sticking all the popcorn together like I said. You can use res resin for that part of the project and I can go and spray some resin on that just to make sure it doesn't. It doesn't come off and a dab of this super glue won't hurt me either just to make sure it's in there nice and neat so while I'm waiting for the glue gun to heat up again that's the worst thing about being refillable or glue guns you have You have to put them on the base to heat them up, if you leave them off for more than 2 minutes they get so cold and the product no longer adheres, but I think what we are going to do is nice.
What we need to do is mix a little resin. Look what I have here. You should always make sure to wear gloves when working with resin. I know I'm allergic to it. I have some alcohol ink here that we can color it with. and let's see, I need a cup in case it's a very small cup, but I don't know if I have a small cup. Do I have a small cup? Yes, I have a small cup, so I am using epoxy resin, not UV resin. This takes a little while to dry, it's basically equal parts part A and part B with UV resin which is what comes all together and you just use a UV light to cure it now.
I'm not measuring this very well. I should have a measuring portion, but I've done it once or twice so I can observe it, but I don't recommend that you always put equal parts of part A and part B so that it hardens properly, so what are we going to do? I need a stirring rod. You want to stir this for two or three minutes. Once you start stirring it, it will get cloudy and then when it's done, it will clear up again. It will probably have a lot of air bubbles, but you can. Get them out pretty easy with this project.
I'm not going to worry too much about air bubbles because it's just a topping for the popcorn. I'm going to add some alcohol ink. I have a lemon color. I think I'm just going to put a drop of lemon in and then take a tangerine to see if I can darken it a little bit. I need to open this one up, just a drop of tangerine to see if that gives it a buttery color. The tangerine might have been just a little orange so let's see what it will look like it doesn't look too bad it was on the orange side but it's not horrible it will be fine in small doses.
I think my glue gun is probably hot again so go ahead and finish off yeah it's really hot and we'll finish off this little pile of loose pieces here in the front maybe one more up and I think I used all my popcorn pieces, so it was about 150 and I think it looks pretty decent for this project, I'm not sure if my glue is completely dry on the bottom. I'm not sure I like the way you did it on the bottom so I'm going to add a little more glue and put it back on my tile because the tile will cool it down and dry quickly into a solid little piece, go ahead , just leave it, let it do its thing and put a little bit more butter around it, just a very light drizzle here and there, I don't want too. lots of butter on our popcorn.
I think it's actually pretty decent and I think they're sticking pretty well there and that's it for this project. I think we've got it pretty good, it's not dry yet, but it's okay, so thanks for watching. If you have any questions or comments, please go ahead and leave a question or comment below the video in the comments section and I will get back to you as soon as possible if you want to do this and need any helpful advice or tips on where to do it. order the product, you can inform me that the clay comes from excellent creations.
I know you can buy the moldAnnie's Treasures on Etsy and alcohol inks and Apple Barrel paint are available at your local Hobby Lobby Michaels craft store, whatever you have near you.
