Every Meal Pro Ballerina Scout Forsythe Eats in a Day | On Pointe | Glamour

Jun 06, 2021
Hi, I'm Scout Forsyth, I'm a professional ballet dancer with the American Ballet Theater and this is all I eat on a day of rehearsal. Look how pretty this guy is right now. I'm home quarantined in California right now with my family. and I'm trying to get back into shape right now, so this is all I would eat on a normal rehearsal day in New York, which would be six to seven hours a day. I'm usually around 6 37. I get up early and I really like it and after I wake up and do that first, like a big yawn, I get up slowly and drink as much water as I can.

I'm going to drink all this. I always try to do it. I drink at least a liter of water a day, if not I try to drink three somewhere in between, I know I feel good but less than that is when I think I need water, do you ever have to pee and then? drink more water before you have to urinate, I don't know why I do that, but I do it right. My day is set because I'm already hydrated, it's around 7:20 before I really wake up fully and go outside. In bed, I put my feet on the floor and that's usually the time I get off and make breakfast.

I'm going to have breakfast for a full day of rehearsal. It's avocado toast. I love it, it doesn't fill me up too much, but it gives me enough energy to sustain me through the first class. which I have in the morning, so I'll take all my ingredients, you know, I'll take them out of the refrigerator and prepare

every

thing because I like to have a hot breakfast. I am one of those people who likes to cook and do

every

thing. and having it all at the right time and putting it right in my mouth, so I start with um ezekiel bread, sourdough, ezekiel is a little bit more full of similar grains, it's not just like a white bread where there are no nutrients at all, throw it at that guy. in the toaster making the water boil would probably help if it turned on my neighbors gave me one of their chicken eggs because ours don't lay anymore because they are old ladies.

I only use half the avocado for breakfast. I take that slice, I take it out of there, I take the toast out, I put it on my piece of bread and I take a fork and I spread it out that way because I like the little texture for when my egg is ready. I'm going to try to turn this guy around. Yes, I understand that I did not break the yolk. It wasn't that good. Guys, I'm very excited. Take it out, put it on top of the pepper, sometimes nutritionally, and if I do. I'm feeling a little fancy, I'll throw in a little bit of cayenne pepper and a little bit of salt, so once my breakfast is prepared and ready, I'll take it to my kitchen table, that's when you know it's a good egg poached, oh yes.

I am very happy right now, I am trying to limit my coffee consumption and I have noticed a better effect on my energy levels throughout the day and this is me, I don't drink coffee so since I stopped drinking coffee lately I have drank more tea. but sometimes it will just be water depending on my laziness to heat water or not. I always have my journal with me in the morning and I love writing in my journal to set my intentions for the day and release any negative energy I have. Yesterday I like to start the day with sweets when I'm rehearsing because I get very hyperactive with sugar, so if I have that morning like when I'm walking to work, when I'm up here when I go to ballet class my level my energy level It's already starting to fall I start to yawn I just like to make space and get back in if I'm not completely in my body focused on what I'm doing, it can be a risk or an omen of maybe stepping on my

pointe

shoe wrong, not thinking on something that will twist my ankle, so I know that for me and my body I need to have something tasty full of protein, good fats, all that to help me maintain my energy levels during the day. and not having this peak, I'm going to get ready to go to the studio, okay, I'm going to grab my bag, throw my shoes in and go out to the ballet studio.
It's probably around 9 15 9 30, I'll put on my ballet gear and get ready. For classes that start at 10:15 and arrive at 11:45, our days at ABT are usually divided into two parts, our morning class is like warming up your body and preparing you for a full day of rehearsals after class , we have approximately 20 minutes. rest and that's rehydration and usually eating whatever fruit I brought that day. Honey cookies are the best apples. You can't argue with me that I try to choose a whole fruit or whole food before eating anything processed, but you know what? Sometimes I don't have a banana and there's a granola bar there, so I tried to avoid it, but if it's there and I need it, I'll eat it around our lunch break, which isn't until three or four, so I have from when I wake up at 6:30 until 3 o'clock like I have enough things to sustain me, so while I'm done with this guy, where's my water ball?
My calf was already cramping this morning, so I'm. I'm really going to be very conscious of the electrolytes I get today. I also brought a small tupperware of Celtic sea salt that I take to the studios. I learned not long ago that putting a little bit of that in the water helps with the minerals that we need to help digest and hydrate and it's full of electrolytes. It's a really healthy alternative to a Gatorade or any type of sugary energy drink. I'm not a big fan of those at all. The breaks are almost over. I'm going to start rehearsing soon. and throwing out those

pointe

shoes, so I gotta go, we rehearse in hourly increments, so 1205 to one 105 to two 205 to three that's how our day is set up and this is definitely where we're using the most energy, obviously I'm not in New York at my abt's ballet studios right now, so after class I'll take that time to work on technique, work on a variation I want to learn, or just start getting my strength back so I can be ready.
Come back and I hope to be on stage soon. It's three o'clock and now we're back at break. Three to four is our lunch break and I try to eat my food immediately so I have enough time to rest and digest and not leave. Back at the 405 feeling like, oh, I just ate so much food. If I have time on Monday, I try to prepare food right now. It was a vegetable soup because it's cold outside. I stole the recipe from my mom. Super nutritious and delicious. This soup is filling. with vegetables it has carrots, tomatoes, celery, kale, onion, garlic, I wish you could smell this right now because it smells delicious, so I add all those vegetables and then the broth is always vegetable based, sometimes I put a grain in the bottom.
I love farro downstairs but sometimes it looks too much like wheat throughout the day for me I try to heat it up at home first because at the studio they only have microwaves and I'm very anti-microwave, they scare me. Me and I never grew up with one, so I don't use it much. I love this soup, so I have enough of it, like complex carbs, not simple things like everything is very filling and nutritious in the soup. I think about food. as fuel and what's going to sustain me for the rest of my rehearsal period. Also, maybe I'll put a cookie in it because it tastes good.
I'm so glad I brought my lunch with me, it's still hot, the reason I love bringing something simple like a soup or salad is easier on my stomach, I don't feel like going to the next rehearsal with a big bloated belly and thinking I just want to relax and go take a nap if I don't prepare the food and bring it like soup or something from home. There is a make your own salad place just around the corner. There's a little bit of what it's called. You can go in and get really simple things. We are entering this last half of the day and from four to seven o'clock we are rehearsing again um the first hour I have realized that we will have special half hour rehearsals where we rehearse with a small group for a small ballet or we will be learning choreography that It's always very fun but you have to be very focused on it.
I brought a little snack, oh man, the best thing sometimes when we go through those long rehearsal periods, like four to seven, or I'm dancing a lot. or I just need something, it's nice to have a little backup snack, the hippies are pretty satisfying because you know they're bloated, so just a couple of those, I'm fine, I have some good feelings, especially if you're hungrier or you're dancing a lot , it is better to concentrate on dancing and not on I'm hungry, the best, I eat a puffy crispy that I love, I could have all day until seven o'clock, I'm tired.
I'm sweating, I'm ready to go home and rest when I get home. I'm hungry and I just want something quick and easy, so I'll take leftovers or order something, but most of the time I really try to cook myself. like an easy, simple

meal

that I can put in my body and have something that's a little higher in protein at night. I want to refuel my body for tomorrow, which will be another full day of dancing, so I'll choose something that's meatier, something that's a little more substantial and that feels heavier on my body and makes me want to curl up and go to bed. bed, so tonight I spoiled myself a little and bought a piece of salmon.
Vegetables and I'm also going to prepare a small salad. First, first cut up all the vegetables I have in the refrigerator. Oh, there's a little one there. This is like whatever is there. Oh me. I'm crying, I grab it, I put a little oil on it, a little salt and pepper, I put it on a baking sheet, I put it in the oven, I'm not a professional chef at all, so I follow what the Internet has told me. saying. Lastly, not every night I can cook for myself, sometimes I don't do the shopping or I'm just lazy and don't want to do the dishes, so I have a

meal

to take home and I like it.
My options are avocado burrito, rice and beans, a vegetarian pizza or Thai food. I love a good pad thai. I throw the salmon in the pan. There are not many spices and things that Sam is cooking. I have made a mess. He says the oven needs. to be higher, so we'll turn the oven up a little higher when the salmon is toward the end of its cooking time. I poured it over some of Trier Joe's teriyaki glaze, I think it's delicious. adds a little extra flavor and a little glaze on top. The salmon goes, the greens go and this is when I have enough time to prepare some salad and I always try to have a head full of lettuce or leaves. because I think it's a little bit more eco-friendly than just a bucket of mixed greens and plastic, chopping it all up, throwing it in a little bowl and then mixing it with whatever sauce you have and I'm in New York, sometimes it's just something as simple as olive oil. olive and vinegar, done, oh that looks great, I put it all on the plate and that's when I take my lovely little plate of food to the table, devour it and then that's when I add my sauces.
I'm so happy that New York started selling sauce, it's delicious, it's made from almonds, I love the taste of it, so I drizzle a little bit of that on my plate and it's usually like my little greens, I dip it in there and I almost forgot which is not a proper meal unless you have an avocado in there, so take what you have leftover and put it on top of those vegetables. Now it's a complete meal. My roommate and I will just maybe put on the TV while we have dinner together or like playing music a lot of times I'll talk on the phone with my family or friends or people I just want to catch up with.
I just like to come home to a simple meal and a nice afternoon and sometimes I'll treat myself and have a little bit like a kombucha drink or something like that. I'm not a big drinker, especially during the weeks. When I'm dancing, it's fun to go out on the weekend. Sometimes you know what I say during the weeks. It just makes me feel. kinda disgusting um so kombucha is like my little treat after dancing it's bubbly it just tastes good so after dinner I wash the dishes. I'm not a big dessert person, if I'm going to have a dessert, I prefer it. be like a fruit based dessert where it's like a chocolate covered strawberry or apples and caramel, but you know every once in a while I want a donut, this is when I need to stretch and spread out.
Extending the body helps remove lactic acid from my muscles. It doesn't hurt as much the next day. It probably hurts a little, but it doesn't hurt as much the next day. I try to do it before 8 8 30. The only other thing that will go into my body is water, that's all I need before bed. I can't be too hyper before bed by consuming a well-balanced diet and something decently healthy. It helps me a lot with my dancing. I feel like I'm strong and I personally would prefer I See a woman who is strong and can handle herself with confidence rather than someone who looks like she's about to faint on stage.
Now I am in a space where I can consume what I want. I know what fuels me. My energy sustains me throughout the day and I always try to choose that, but sometimes it's like I just want that burrito and they say I want that donut and that's okay, I think the most important thing is to give up the fight, it shouldn't be So. It won't be a struggle, the food should be delicious and make you smile, make you feel good. My advice is to always consult with your health professional or your team to help you.and choose what works for you and this is what I have created. after years and years of trial and error and that's it and this is all I eat on a normal rehearsal day and thank you very much for watching
