Well, clearly we're off to a delightful start, we've got another edition of me now, although yeah, me just a little bit. smaller okay stop number two and I wasn't sure I picked the right place it just had great reviews but Anthony Bourdain this year so I think I chose wisely so this little or should I say big is called Durham now Durham. refers to the ramp itself, it's like a tortilla or almost like a flatbread and the type I bought today is a Don. In fact, I think it's called spicy, so let's try it. Oh, I didn't know what this was going to be. like when I bit into it, but the first thing I noticed is I saw them there cooking it on the grill and it just cooked to absolute perfection, immediately light and soft, a little crunchy too and then there's some other ingredients in there like Okay, what?
What are the donor ingredients? They are some bunions. I think there's a little bit of parsley too. A really solid chart. Well, I'm my friend. So I actually chose the chicken shish. I just tried some Trevor's and you guys might know better. I don't normally eat red meat, but I might regret not having it. It is delicious. It warms it like it's hot in my hands and I can feel there are little char marks on the tortilla or the wrapper, so every time it was made like in a wood oven or something, but it smelled and felt really good now I didn't see the wrappers and they're actually cooking but I bet maybe it's in the wood mmm well you guys cut it's so amazing. the chicken is ridiculously tender like you basically barely have to chew it, it's not dry at all, it's perfect, it has a good seasoning, like Trevor said.
I'm not really sure what else is there. I see tomatoes, some onions, so some Research I do because I read blog posts, I read reviews, but I also saw some vloggers and someone else did this in one of their videos, not here, in a totally different place, and they found it Very, very dry and were not a big fan. From this I can say that this one is not dry at all, it is perfect, the wrapper is perfect, the inside is perfect, well how about that too? For superheroes that they were, we're off to an amazing start for this street food video, so below.
We're looking for something called I Think It's Gosling. I'm probably promising everything completely wrong. I think it's like a Turkish crepe. Okay, let's go to plate number three. It's called something like Gosselin, like I said, it's something like that. like a thin pancake or crepe inside, you can get whatever filling you want, but we want a cheap one with sausage mmm, it looks good and look what else we have here. I'm actually really nervous about this one, it's probably one. One of the most typical drinks that you can get everywhere is Türkiye. Everyone drinks it all the time.
I think it's called I Ron a yr an. It is basically a yogurt drink and also contains some cold water and salt. It's very good. It has those delicious ones. little charred marks we talk about all the time we loved it on the sub plates, it's not a pizza but we always like it when it's good and has those Charnas, although I think it has a lot of cheese so a second one is very tasty, the cheese It's nice and creamy. I didn't get any sausage in that bite so I'll have to look for one of those, that's the ticket that's where all the flavors come in and it just rounds out the cheese and the meat.
The sausage is a little spicy, it's nice and tender, and overall it's really, really good. I really like the combination with wings, so with that cheese with that bread and there's a little bit of I think maybe a little bit of olive oil in this as well. Thanks for a good, a little treat at lunch time, okay, I'm going to try this, I know and I already said it's cold water and L salt in the yogurt. I left out one of the most important ingredients, so the first time I try Hiram, oh ho ho, you know what it tastes like. like you know when you get a yogurt and it's all runny at the bottom like a yogurt we'd be used to anyway.
I guess in Canada it tastes like that, it tastes like juice deep down. Well, I think this was freshly made too. here, which is probably the key, you know what drink number two is. I like this. I could probably take it now that I'm into it. The initial reaction was like: what is this drink? Okay, so there's a little bit of tomato maybe spicy. tomato sauce but I'm going to try that bonus and whatever my hands hope I don't offend anyone yeah we never know if you're supposed to use your hands or a fork and knife I mean they provide it but when we use the fork. a knife seems to call us for not using our hands, especially empanadas.
Wow, delicious, in fact, I'm not even sure what kind of sauce there is. There's something crunchy and almost like peanuts or something. I don't think it's peanuts, but it adds a nice little touch, um, the sausage is delicious. I'm really enjoying making the sausage. I know it's a hoot, but like every time we've eaten it, I really enjoyed it. The cheese is nice and light, and the same. it was like the outer shell was really light and fluffy and quite nice, so now the question is: are you going to try the IRA? I'm actually really nervous about these, the ones where they smell like anything but yogurt.
I mean, your brain is going to think it's milk, that's what it was, what's happening to me, wow, you're actually ready, it totally tastes like plain yogurt with a pinch of salt and it's great, yeah, like milky, It's like thick milk. I like it, I don't know if I love it. I don't like being like everyone here who seems to drink it constantly, but it's not a thought I wasn't really nervous about. Not bad. I think it's one of those things that if we lived here and had it over time. and it would probably grow on us, from what I heard, the more you drink it, the more you like it, so it's been a few hours and we ate a lot this afternoon, so we had to take a little break, yeah, we needed to take a quick break. nap because now we have more food to eat, we just realized and she came here.
I know who these people are. I'm Trevor, this is Anna, what are the lovely travelers? There is a little subscribe button if you click on it and a little bell will ring. I allow you to follow all our Turkish adventures. Now let's go look for it. Our last two dishes of the night will be things that people often refer to as Turkish pizza. The first is called mizune luck. I hope to say that again, right? but you practice, it was wrong. I think they really like a very, very, very thin crust, then they put some minced meat and spices, maybe a substance, tomato on top, it should be very, very thin and then traditionally it's in a wood-fired oven.
So we just asked what's the right way to do this, like Turkish persimmon does, and I guess what you do is dress it with some greens, so there's a little bit of lettuce, there's some very basic greens, a little bit of oil. olive and then I guess. The idea is that you roll it up and then I guess you just pick it up and at the end it's like a wrap, so it looks really cool, it's a lot of fun and again we go back to those charcoal brands that we talked about before we were so big. fans of that stuff, I think we're going to like this one which is just heaven in a bit, the vegetables and they're all pickled so it really brings out the flavors of the meat itself.
I think what we have here is there. It was a sausage, that's right, I think I understood that I am quite key. I'm okay, miss mincemeat, so if you had sausage before, but you take that mincemeat and then you wrap it in this really really thin crust here and again, the char burns so well that I took another bite, it's nice and light. . When you look at this before you wrap it, you think it will be very heavy once you wrap it and the vegetables in it turn out to be really good light meat, so Anna is carrying hers, yes, so I think there is cabbage in there, parsley, radish, I think it's ready and you can see the minced meat there too, with that cheese it looks good, put some. of lemon there spicy wow, that's stellar, the Oder is like the crust, it's so thin it has a very, very, very nice crunch, it has a really nice flavor, any spice that's in the dogs is great, I don't know .
Let's say I have to see that there are probably a lot of cars, let it taste a little, it's nice and piccoli. I don't know if you noticed, but what a great wrap, well, I think we decided that maybe It's been our favorite meal, yeah, and it might be my new favorite meal. In fact, it affected me and I loved it, why haven't we eaten it before? We already said we would have eaten more. I know that today I would like to share dishes because we are only two people. eat all this food in one day and believe it or not, there's one more thing left to figure out, so we're breaking up our Turkish pizza a bit for one that I wasn't actually expecting to eat, but would rather have, it's spicy lentil soup.
I think it is a very typical soup that you get here in Istanbul, probably during the winter months, with thick and creamy soups. It's a mixed soup, so it's not like there aren't whistle pieces or anything. I don't know if you can see it, but the steam that comes out now is called spicy it's not particularly spicy but it's very tasty definitely some lentils in there some spices a little tomato flavor but I don't know you tomatoes have fun and it's a good winter dish keeps you warm inside, well, here we go, we have cheese pajamas.
I think that's how you say it, but I'm sure many of you looking at this will immediately notice that it looks like a pizza. I mean, wherever we're from, in Canada or the US or a lot of places around the world, it looks like a pizza, except the shape is different and I think they take the flatbread and roll it up to make it into this. long oval shape and of course I put it in that place I thought was a wood oven and the cheese looks ridiculously good and smells amazing. We often just chose cheese because we had so many different things today.
I feel like we just need to take it's easy so let's see what it is, it's just lovely, those beautiful flavors that are in their packets, a little strong, the cheese is creamy, it's got a little bit of spice I would say, and this bread clearly from all the dishes we ate. today this is this bread, this pea bread, we keep finding it with all these charred marks on it, so clearly it's a big part of turkeys for me, it's very, very good. I'm also into this pizza. I'm not sure if it's just a cheese or not, but you can see there's a little bit of oil in there too and the crust is nice and crispy, so that's it.
I love this so I just noticed some chili flakes thatI think they're on the table so I'm I'm going to add this to everything hopefully Trevor you don't mind yeah no complaints sies spicy in the end it looks like a small pot so I wouldn't say it's the most exciting thing I've had today, but it's definitely delicious, I really love the crust, it's a really crunchy piece because I think the crust is I really liked that the best association had a little bit of that char, it was said to be woody like I had been stuck together and then the cheese is pretty soft, but um, but yeah, it's good, I'm glad I put the chili in the race.
We can definitely do quite a few of these food dates on our travels, but I can already tell this is going to be one of my favorites. Oh, wow. Türkiye, especially Istanbul, is just a melting pot of food. I mean, there are so many dishes here. When we were okay, Anna was doing research, she was trying to find what to eat today and there's kind of a huge list of things, yeah, so I guess the moral of the story is that you can't go wrong with what you choose here when you're in Turkey because all the dishes are really good and don't worry, from now on we will see more food in some videos, we think we are still planning it, but if you haven't seen the last video we were exploring this beautiful city.
We are in some of the main access points and tourist destinations. We export neighborhoods. Yes, it was a fun video. Next week we will explore more. Actually, yes, we want to explore again before we return. food because we have eaten enough today to last us several days, completely honest, but all we know is that we are having a lot of fun here in the city. Well guys, that's all from Istanbul, I wish you a lovely trip.
