More Interesting Facts About,

drugstore anti aging skincare routine the budget dermatologist...

The products are out of control, but this is how I'm going to make it super easy for you. My four pillars for the foundation of your skincare routine. Number one, you need a product that builds collagen, so at 20 we start losing one percent of collagen per person. year and some of us will lose even more depending on our environment and lifestyle habits. Collagen loss leads to sagging, crepey-textured skin and wrinkles, so a collagen-building product will really plump up your skin and make you look younger. Second protection you should Protect your skin from excessive exposure to the ultraviolet sun because this will actually break down collagen even more quickly.

By using a sunscreen, you will reduce this damage and prolong your skin's youthful, healthy appearance. If you ignore this step, we're really going to do it. turning our wheels one step forward with our collagen building product and one step back from all the sun exposure. Third, you need to repair and maintain the health of your skin barrier. I am a great expert in skin barrier health. It's not a sexy topic, but it's the most important, let me tell you that nothing else matters if you have a damaged barrier and you can't tolerate all these other products, so you need to focus on this first, make it healthy and then you can start a routine after that, which means a proper cleanser and moisturizer as we age, our skin loses healthy skin barrier components, making us more prone to transepidermal water loss, which actually dries out the skin and It makes it look even more flaky and wrinkled, so we must moisturize it twice a day to maintain it. healthy barrier and use a cleanser to remove dirt, grease and other harmful environmental toxins.

Finally, our fourth pillar of an anti-aging skin care routine is to brighten the complexion as we age, our skin becomes dull and loses that youthful glow. This is due to the renewal of our skin. Skin cells actually slow down with age, so more dead cells accumulate on the surface of the skin, so we must focus part of our routine on recovering our radiant skin, knowing that these four categories will make it easier for us to buys. for products that check these boxes, but before we head into the pharmacy to fill our shopping baskets, let me tell you the framework of your simple morning routine.
The first step is your cleaner. The second step is the treatment product. The third step is the moisturizer and the fourth step is your sun protection factor. or your sunscreen product, four steps in the morning is about as complicated as it gets, but you can condense it into just two steps. If you prefer, you can combine steps one and two and use a cleanser that contains an active treatment product and combine them. steps three and four and use a combination of moisturizer plus SPF product, so it could be as simple as two products in the morning.
This really depends on your personal preferences, your skin type, and your skincare goals, so you can customize that part for yourself now. at night three easy steps step one cleanse step two apply your collagen building product and step three moisturize that's it keep it simple if it's simple you'll stick to it and if you stick to it you'll get results and you'll love it your beauty. and youthful skin, so let's go shopping to fill each of these categories with some of my favorite tried and true anti-aging skin care products, of course, affordable and that you can get at the

drugstore

.
I'm going to start with products to protect. the health of your skin barrier, so this would be your cleanser and moisturizer, let's first choose a cleanser, so here's your super quick education on cleansers. Now cleansers come in two general categories, or you have a gentle cleanser that only focuses on cleaning makeup grime. and oil without irritating the skin or you have a medicated cleanser like acne washes and glycolic cleansers or exfoliating cleansers for example, to start a new routine I recommend starting with a gentle cleanser if you are going to follow it with the treatment product.
You don't overdo it or irritate the skin from the beginning. My current favorite gentle cleanser is the Cerave Hydrating Cleanser. This cleanser comes in three options for dry skin. I recommend the creamy cleanser for oily skin. I recommend the foam cleanser and then there's. There is a new option available called a cream to foam cleanser and it is actually better for combination skin types or normal skin. Another great cleanser option is Vana Cream. I love this brand because they have really simple but effective products. This particular cleanser is good for all skin types. Especially sensitive skin Eczema-prone skin Rosacea-prone skin because again, the ingredients are simple and it's super gentle, but you'll find it's very effective at clearing your skin now if you're already using a gentle cleanser that works well and doesn't irritate your skin. .
You're all set, that's what you'll use for step one. Next is your moisturizer. This is the next equally important part of protecting your skin barrier in the morning. You have the option of using a combined or separate SPF moisturizer. I personally prefer to use it. a separate product for each of them because it's more effective that way, but I understand for simplicity that not everyone is going to do that, so if you use a combination product you should apply enough, that's my warning, so choose one moisturizer that is suitable for your skin type that works well for your skin, there are a lot of great options at the drugstore, but here are some of my favorites.
The first is Neutrogena Hydro Boost. There are two forms of this Hydro Boost: a water gel for oily skin and a gel cream for drier skin types now only the gel cream is fragrance free so it's important to keep this in mind if you have fragrance sensitivities or you simply prefer fragrance-free products. This is a lightweight but super hydrating moisturizer. It has hyaluronic acid, which really helps. It draws even more moisture to the skin and really sets it. This is an absolute staple in my own skincare stash. I give samples of this to patients daily and recommend it all the time.
I also get great feedback on this product from my patients, so it's one that I repurchase again and again, another option that I've been using much more frequently and that I've really loved is the one from Roche Posay and it's their moisturizer. double repair. Now this is truly a workhorse, it hydrates the skin. Well, if you have super dry skin, I would really choose this product, maybe instead of the neutrogena hydro boost because this one is a little heavier on the skin. Now I especially love this formulation because it contains niacinamide, which is an important ingredient to really improve the health of the skin barrier and it has ceramides again to strengthen that skin barrier by sealing it in water to keep it more hydrated, so yeah, It's packed with lots of great ingredients and still remains lightweight overall even though it's a cream formulation, so it's great for dry skin without leaving a greasy feeling and it's fragrance-free.
You can also take a cerave moisturizer, either the lotion if you have a more normal to oily skin type or the cream for drier skin, so the lotion and cream are both safe for the face and body, so that if you're looking to buy less products overall that can work in more than one way, both are great options, they have ceramides and hyaluronic acid, you'll get good results with these moisturizers or if you want. Even more elegant, you can use what I'm using now from the survey. It is your skin renewing night cream. I use it in winter, when the air is a little drier.
It is a thicker formulation. It's still a cream, but it actually lasts a while. A little more like a balm now it has ceramides, hyaluronic acid, niacinamide and peptides. Peptides are a newer ingredient that I'm starting to see more frequently in a lot of skincare products right now. We need more studies on this ingredient to really understand it. its effectiveness and how to best formulate it in skincare, but I still love this product for its formulation, how hydrating it is for the skin, so that's another great option. Next is your facial sunscreen again, choose which one you like and it will work well. for you because the best sunscreen is the one you will use every day.
Now I tend to use tinted mineral options more often, but choose what works for you and whatever you do, don't skip this step because to really have a great anti-aging effect. For a skincare routine you need sunscreen every day, so my new favorite tinted mineral sunscreen that I'm going to tell you about is so stylish and so affordable. I used to always opt for the La Roche-Posay Tinted Mineral Sunscreen, but this one is less so. Over half the price and it has quickly become one of my new favorite skincare products. It is Australian Gold Botanical's SPF 50 Tinted Facial Sunscreen Lotion.
It also contains iron oxides, which means it's great for melasma skin because it will help block. visible light and blue light from devices that further prevent skin aging now, as I mentioned before, my other favorite tinted mineral sunscreen option is from la roche posay, it's super popular now and almost every time I go in for repurchase It's out of stock, it's actually easier to find it online, but I love it because it really gives a nice glow to the skin and this one has iron oxides in it too. There is a similar dye-free option if you prefer, that's great too.
It's usually a little easier to find her in person. One of my favorite and most affordable options is Neutrogena. It is the sunscreen for sensitive skin. Neutrogena has tons of sunscreen options to choose from. In fact, I made an entire video on YouTube about their 52 options and how to choose. one that is right for you, so check it out so now you have the basics: a cleanser, moisturizer and sunscreen, use them first for a few days to a week or so and make sure you like them and your skin tolerates them. Leave them alone and they won't irritate you and then we'll add the treatment products which are the fun part so now let's talk about the treatment products that I recommend to start a new routine of using no more than two treatment products once in the morning. and one at night and start with just one at a time to see how your skin does with this and then you can introduce the second treatment product so that the first and my best holy grail of anti aging skin care ingredients skin is a retinoid. by far the most studied and scientifically proven ingredient to reverse the signs of aging, which is why it is my favorite product to recommend and include in my selected skin care routines, so a topical retinoid is a vitamin, a product that reduces fine lines, wrinkles, improves acne.
It can minimize pores, helps remove dead skin, fades dark spots and acne scars, and can even reverse sun damage spots on your face. I mean, it's just an amazing skincare product. I plan to make several videos on this topic with detailed retinoid product recommendations. busting myths about how to use a retinoid correctly and how to incorporate it into your routine,so make sure you are subscribed to my channel so you don't miss them when they come out, but for now to keep this simple and straightforward, I'm going to explain just a few basics, so retinoid is a broad term and covers many forms of this ingredient, such as retinoic acid or tretinoin, retinol, retinol esters such as retinal palmitate and retinaldehyde.
Now all of these forms of retinoids can be found in various skin care products. Presumably all products are effective in building collagen, but the most studied is tretinoin or retinoic acid, which is only available with a prescription. However, there is compelling research on the anti-aging effectiveness of other forms, such as retinol, which can be found without a prescription. I have a huge and important disclaimer about this ingredient. If you are trying to conceive, pregnant, or breastfeeding, you should not use any type of retinoid. Actually, as far as we know right now, it is not safe in these populations, but we need more well-conducted research studies to better understand its safety, but for now it is banned in those groups of people, so retinoids are available in over-the-counter forms and in forms that are available only by prescription.
Choosing an over-the-counter drugstore retinoid for this routine because that's the goal of this video. Complete and effective anti-aging routines available entirely at the drugstore and yes. Affordable over-the-counter retinol products are effective and that's great news. The not-so-good news is that not all retinoid products are created equal and it is very difficult for you, as a consumer, to know what the retinoid ingredient is. stable, so formulation and packaging really matter and that's why I like to choose brands that have a long history of research and development behind their products because I feel more confident that their products live up to their claims.
Please note, if you're wondering about medical-grade vs. drugstore-grade retinol or retinoid products, I have a full video on medical-grade vs. drugstore-grade skincare, including myths on this topic, so check it out if you want to understand a little bit more in depth why I recommend certain products, okay, so getting back into your routine you're going to incorporate the retinoid at night. Some retinoids are not light stable and break down when exposed to the sun, so as a general rule, I put retinoids in my nighttime routine. Here are my absolutes. Favorite drugstore retinoids that I recommend over and over again, first it's different, it's their adaptilin 0.1 gel, it's actually an over the counter medication so this product used to be available only by prescription but now it's over the counter , this is a bit.
A little more regulated than the other over-the-counter retinol options, you'll see a real percentage on this product, which is important for some people. Now don't deviate from the packaging of this product which is marketed for acne treatment but it is also great for anti-aging so don't be put off by that, this really is a great product. The second one is Neutrogena Rapid Wrinkle Repair, the fragrance-free option, so it comes in a bottle, but the retinoid is encapsulated, which means it's formulated. in a stabilized way, so it is safe in this jar. I like this one too because it has quite a moisturizing base, so it can potentially be a combo product of your retinol and your moisturizer if you want a super simple and minimalist skincare routine now. a newer one that i find similar to the neutrogena option is the regenerist olay 24 retinol product.
I love that this product has two forms of retinoid, it is fragrance free and again this one has a very moisturizing carrier which means that if If your skin tolerates it, you can use this as a combo product for steps two and three of your nighttime skincare routine, and lastly, cerave has a retinol product that is especially good for anti-aging, in addition to acne scars, if you have dark spots, so choose one of those anti-aging products that create collagen or use any retinoid that you like and that works for your skin here in this step and at the end how to brighten that complexion to restore and maintain that glow youthful, so you will do it as part of your morning routine.
You want to make sure you don't apply this at night with your retinoid because it can be too irritating, so definitely separate these two, your brightening product in the morning and your retinoid product at night if you only want to use one treatment. product at night, you can use them every other day, so you have two options here: you can brighten the skin with an exfoliating product or with brightening products like a vitamin C serum. These are some of my favorite drugstore exfoliation products. The first is the renewal of the survey. sa cleanser now this is a cleanser that contains salicylic acid for chemical peel now i have a full video review of this product because i think it's really great.
I talk about how to incorporate it into your routine and who should use it, so make sure. to check it out if you are wondering if this is a good product for you then a newer glycolic acid cleanser is the l'oreal revitalift 3.5 glycolic acid cleanser which also contains salicylic acid. Now I really love exfoliative cleansers because they prep your skin really well for the products you put on afterwards because they remove that dead layer of skin cells for a smooth texture so the serums and moisturizers you put on afterwards really penetrate Much better and they work better, so another drugstore product.
I love exfoliating and brightening the skin. They are the L'oreal Revitalift Bright Reveal Exfoliating Pads. These contain 10% glycolic acid. Now glycolic acid penetrates the skin more deeply than salicylic acid, for example, so with this product you will notice a little tingling. on the skin when applied and it is normal to feel the sensation with this ingredient, now you don't need to use it every day for it to be effective, you can even do it a few times a week and you will still get excellent results, so for the serums drugstore highlighters, I love opting for a vitamin C serum.
There are really some great options that you can get right at the drugstore, so first up is the Vichy Lyft Active Vitamin C Serum. Now this is one of my favorites because it is a 15. The concentration of vitamin C is fragrance-free, paraben-free, and there is great research behind the results of this product. Okay, if you are new to using vitamin C or if you have sensitive skin, I recommend you go for the cerave vitamin C serum, it now has a 10 concentration of vitamin C in it, so it is a bit milder, it comes in a tin tube which is similar to how prescription medications are stored, so it really helps a lot with stabilizing the vitamin C ingredient.
Lastly, La Roche Posay also has a vitamin C serum. I like this product because it also contains salicylic acid, so it's a bit of a two-in-one combo product and also this formulation can help the vitamin C penetrate better; However, compared to vichy, this one has less concentration of vitamin C and is fragranced, but I still think it is a very solid option to add to your routine, especially if you have never used a vitamin C serum before, so that was the last part of her anti-aging routine at the drugstore. I'm so excited that you guys believe it. your own affordable and effective skincare routine to get your skin in the best shape possible, so just to make sure, after all that information, I want you to have a very clear and easy roadmap to follow in your anti-aging journey, and this is where you should start remembering my four pillars for your anti-aging foundation product for collagen formation maintaining the skin barrier protection against ultraviolet damage and brightening it for a youthful glow we choose products to achieve each of these pillars in the morning cleanse brighten protect and hydrate in the night cleanse build collagen while you sleep and hydrate that skin barrier, it's very simple, have fun buying and choosing your products, follow me on instagram at the affordable dermatologist, create your routines and tag me , I will share and comment on them, and you can even use my hashtag the economic dermatologist also on my Instagram.
