Dollar Tree Diy Tiered Tray Quick and Easy Project

Jun 06, 2021
Hello everyone, welcome back to my craft room. If you are new to my craft room, welcome. Today I'm going to make a small

tiered

tray

. This will be a

quick

and

easy

project

. Mainly I wanted to get this. I do not do it. I didn't have a

tiered

tray

and someone had asked me her name was Mary one of my subscribers on how to make tear tray packs she said they're pretty expensive she's been looking for these packs and they cost about thirty five

dollar

s so I am calculating. We can make some with Dollar Tree products for much cheaper than that, so I need a tray anyway.

I don't have one, so I bought these burner covers from Dollar Tree that I'm going to make my tray with. In fact, I have another one. set that I already finished painting but they come in these two different oh wow two different sizes so I thought this will work great for a two tier tray here and this is what they come in this is the package and find them at ya you know, like the kitchen section where they have, you know all the different decorations and then you're going to need two of these candle holders. I'm going to use them to put them in the center to hold this and I want it a little bit. a little bit higher, so I'm going to glue two of these together and I'm also going to use some of these little cubes.

More Interesting Facts About,

Now these are the little wooden cubes, uh, they're 0.63 inches that you get on a

dollar

tree

at the craftsman. square section and I'm going to use six of those to make little legs on these now you don't have to put them here if you don't want to you can leave them flat on your counter but I thought it would be cool to lift it up a little bit with some little legs so let's paint those two now. Ideally, I would love to spray paint them, but since it doesn't want to stop snowing here and today it's raining and snowing again.

I think I can do another one in the spring where I can spray paint them outside because that would be your best bet and a lot easier, but I'm going to paint this with this, it's called a castle. give it a more stone like look um this color you can paint them any color you want I mean you can make them white you can do anything but this is just what I'm using but like I said I would really love to just take them outside and spray them because I think that would have been a lot easier, but if the weather permits I will do it one of these days, but anyway I just need a tray so I can start making these fun little ones. other

project

s I want to do, so let's see what else we do.

I'm going to use a little bit of e6000 to put this all together and I think that's it, you're just going to need some brushes and some glue and then I'm going to put it around this edge just to give it a little bit of character. Here I'm going to use some of this thinner nautical rope that they have at Dollar Tree, so I'm going to use that here and that's another option. You also don't have to do this if you don't want to. I think we can. You can do this for about three dollars depending on how you want to paint it and if you don't even want to paint it.
I could leave it as white as it is and just have a white tray, but I wanted to color it, so what I'm going to do here is paint them and give them two coats. let me put this one aside here somewhere in this mess. um I'm just going to give it two coats of this castle and I'm just going to brush it for this part, okay, get out of here, here we go. I don't want too much here because I'm not going to do all this on camera, I promise, and this sticks pretty well to metal and glass and stuff, so I love it and this is the one I'm sorry to say is the paint. folk art chalk and I like chalk paint for glass and things like that because it seems to stick pretty well if you don't have the option to go out and spray paint, which I wouldn't want if it stops snowing here anytime soon. but anyway this is the color it's going to be and it's going to come out a nice color like a rock.
I'm going to spin this over here and get it going and then I'm going to get it all in. in the same direction, but that's the color it's going to be, it's going to be a little bit darker once I apply the second coat, so now for the top one, I'm going to paint everything. I'm going to paint the back part, the other one I painted, it took two coats and covered it very well. The bottom one, I'm not going to paint the bottom part because you know no, you'll never see it again, but you can paint the bottom part. down, if you want, I'm going to paint all this around all these different spaces and I'm going to give it two coats now for this, I'm actually going to sponge it over and for the little blocks I'm going to paint them as well.
I'm going to give each of them two coats of paint in the color of this castle, so it will look great and these will be the little legs, so I'm going to paint all six of them. Those are up there, but like I said, I'm going to do the rest of this off camera and now for the chandeliers I'm going to use a sponge for that because it's so much easier and all you do with that is just get all the way to the end. around this thing and I just keep sponging on the paint and it gives it kind of a texture, a lot of these little bumpy things go away once it dries, the little bubbles that are in the paint, but I'm just going to paint the whole thing this. but I'm not going to paint this part here because we're going to glue it together with the e6000, but that's all I'm going to do, I'm going to paint these and I'm going to give it two coats. also, so I'm going to finish painting all of this here and that's all I'm going to do is just sponge this stuff really good and then after all of this dries, we'll come back and show you how I'm going. to put this all together, okay, everything is nice and dry here, this is how they turned out like I said, it's a nice stone color, not exactly the color I wanted to use, nothing works for me here in this weather, but anyway, Everything is done.
And look, I did two layers here and that covered it really well, so now what I want to do first is take my nautical rope here and I'm going to put this around the outside edge just to give it a little bit. something here because, you know, it's a little lackadaisical right now, so what I do is I put a little bit of hot glue on the end here so this doesn't come apart and I'll show you when I have, let's look at the paint under my nail, I'll show you when I get to the other end here how I do it, so I'm just going to put a little bit of hot glue right under this edge.
Here you don't want to do too much at once on the metal. because hot glue cools down really

quick

ly when you're doing it, uh, I've got it all oozing onto glass or metals. What I'm trying to say is that it cools down very quickly, so you only want to do small sections at a time. so don't worry about it cooling too quickly, I think it will look great around the edge, give it something I love. I've seen so many people make these really cool trays and decorate them so well in their kitchens that I can't do it here because, as you know, I have parrots and you would think it's the best toy ever, but I thought I would make one of these for my downstairs bathroom and I can make one for my bedroom. and I don't know why I never thought of doing that before, but I would love to have a cute coffee bar or something with all these cute decorations.
Let me cut out some of these cute decorations and things, but I wouldn't leave them alone, they would think it was the best thing to play with, so I can make them for other parts of my house and that's what we're going to do and when she asked me Mary, my only subscriber asked me about the levels. tray packs I thought would be really fun to make and I'm sure with everything you can find at Dollar Tree we can make it really affordable so let me take this over here. I just want to show you how to make these ends here and if I stop putting them where I don't want that would be great, so let's see that it's pretty close here, so let's cut this off, I think it'll fit well.
Down there now look how these want to find pinky finger protectors here so I don't burn myself, so these are the little finger protectors from Dollar Tree that you can get in the Crafter Square section. I just like to work a little. stick it in there and just twist them so they don't come apart and then just trim off the excess glue right there, that should fit nicely there so let me stick it in there a little bit. on the end of this piece of rope and we're just going to squash it down, there we go and that turned out pretty good, so there you have it and this is what they're going to look like and I already made the biggest one to save a little bit of time here, get this off my back. finger and here is the bottom tray and I want to find my ends, where is my end?
Wow, I hit this one pretty good, I think that's the end right there and then this one would be here. So these are going to go together like this, so I'm going to go ahead and glue these little ones together so they have a chance to dry here. I'm going to use my e6000 but I'm also going to put a couple drops of hot glue in here to hold this, it's like a clamp is the way I describe it, a lot of people ask me why I do both glues, but I like to keep working on my projects here and it takes you I know this e6000 needs a good 24 hours to hold up but this thing stays on like crazy so I like to put a couple drops of hot glue that way after gluing them together I can keep working , I do not have to.
Wait for the e6000 to dry completely so that they look like this. Make sure it doesn't have too much glue like glue sticking out. Look how well this chalk paint adheres to glass. I mean, I'm removing the hot glue. and it's not removing the paint, so this is what our centerpiece will look like. Now I'm going to set that aside for a few minutes here and let's turn this big one over and see this side that doesn't Don't bother painting because this is going to be upside down if you want to go ahead, if you know that you have OCD and you have to paint it, go ahead, but I'm going to grab one of these.
Put it in the center of this just because you know they're a little flimsy, so I thought it would give it a little more support if I put one of these little legs right in the center. We are going now. to e6000 these are also here just to give it a good hold so I hope it's a little flimsy and then I'm going to put five of these around the edge just to make them look like little feet and I did Don't paint the side I'm on shining, let's see, I just want to space them out a little bit, see where I want them, so let's glue them to the bottom so we have a little rise for this thing. and I think it looks pretty good right there, so that's why I'm hot gluing this.
I'm so used to grabbing my glue gun, don't pay attention to what I just did there, let's go back to the e6000, okay? I'm just going to put a little bit of e6000 on these and glue them right on the edge. I think you can go ahead and measure this if you want to be absolutely precise in where you're placing them, but I'm just observing. It's here, okay, that's where the little legs are going to go and that's going to be our little support for the center and that's it, so now I have to wait for these little ones to set up and then the last thing I have What to do is just glue this on, so after this dries here and the glue hardens, I'm going to come back and turn it over and finish this off nicely, so now we're going to put this piece here.
I'm going to use a little bit of e6000 and of course I'm going to use a little bit of hot glue so I can continue here. I'm going to do the one above first. What I did was measure here and set this up. here and it's about two and a quarter inches from the sides here so I think I've got it right where I want those two and a quarter two and a quarter that's all I did to measure this so it comes out about two and a quarter inch on every way, if I put it right on that mark, like this, so I'm going to add some of this e6000, in fact, I'm going to get it out of my way here for a second and I'm just going to to put some points over here and I'm also going to make a couple of um, I think maybe every other one I'll do it with e6000 and then every other one I'll apply a drop of hot glue, but like I said if you have time and you know, you can let it sit, you don't need to use hot glue, just use your e6000 hey use your e6000 and let it sit you know you can do it at night just let it sit overnight but to keep us going here we're going to do it this way so come on put it right on that mark and let it sit for a couple of seconds, so I did the same thing here at the bottom.
I made a mark here now when this is in the center and measured around the flat edges. Here I covered myself in hot glue from doing that and no I didn't burn myself it's not that hot um I just measure from the flat sides here and on this one when I had it in the center it was three and a half inches um you know from here to here just measure it like this this one is two and a quarter about just two and a quarter and then when I measured this one here it was three and a half inches around the space okay I hope I got that that made sense so now I'm going to leave this aside again, let's add some of the same here.
I'm going to add some e6000 and some hot glue. Actually, I don't know if I'm going to do it. I'm going to need to use hot glue on this one because we're going to be done with it then, so maybe I'll just give this one an e6000 and try not to move it around too much. This is something I need to get more of. I'm getting a little low and I hear my Charlie outside making a fuss. um, yeah, I'm almost out of my e6000. Come on, just a couple ofmore points. I need to get out of here.
I have this big one here but it's clogged. Again, that's why I don't like the big ones as much. I find these small tubes much easier to work with. I mean, they are a little more expensive this way, but it makes my life a lot easier because I always seem to either put a hole in these big ones or they get clogged, but anyway, now that I have my e6000 in there, let's place this, let's see, right above that mark, this way I can also adjust it if I don't hot glue it, it's three and a half, three and a half and three and a half, there we go, I actually centered it and wiped away any excess that Have it here now, I think when you have a break in the weather. here I can take this outside and just spray it with a nice clear coat just to seal it a little bit better, but that's it and then we have our little stand in the center and our little let me hold this here now our little legs on the bottom and I'm going to move everything here and you could even put another piece of nautical rope around that center piece where you have it all together, I think that would look really nice, in fact, I can do that and just cover it. where are those two together, so I'm going to do that, I'm just going to hot glue it here once this sets and then, um, we'll come back and take a good photo of this, you know, where you can see it.
I better have to move my camera here, so let me go ahead and stick it there and then we'll come back and look at the finished tray. It's okay, everyone is there. I know the color looks like a stain. You know it will be seen. really cute once you have all the decorated things you want to put in here it will look really nice. I wanted a nice neutral color so you could wear it for any holiday in any season. You know, whatever you know or however you want. decorate it so yeah, that's why I wanted to do it in this kind of stone gray color, but like I said, any color you choose you can do now what I did at the bottom here was I added a few more blocks of these that didn't even I know if I'm going to bother painting them because you'll never see them again, but you could paint them if you wanted because this was still a little flimsy and now it has a Hold it nice and steady so it doesn't wobble, but that was it.
I mean, this is a nice, cheap,

easy

alternative to a tiered tray, so thanks so much for watching everyone. I hope you enjoyed this little project. I'll see you all. next time you have a great day everyone
