Dollar Tree DIY Farmhouse Dupes

May 30, 2021
Hey everyone, thank you so much for tuning in so for today's video I have some Dollar Tree farm

dupes

and this time we're duping some good stuff from Michaels. I have a whole playlist full of anthropology and Pottery Barn hoaxes and I recently started doing Michael's. because I loved their pieces but sometimes they are too expensive for what they are so I really hope you enjoy this video and that you stay subscribing to this channel because once you subscribe we instantly become best friends, best friends, yes, and please press. That YouTube notification bell may or may not tell you what I post, but in case you don't follow me on Instagram, I always post all my new projects and some other cool stuff, so let's go ahead and start with this tutorial I used.

This Dollar Tree face now comes in three different sizes. I have the largest one but originally I was going to use a smaller one. Now I also have this paper, it's from Michaels and it's 79 cents, but if you don't want to spend the money you can always print something. This is the printout I made for my pumpkin and for the latest Michaels tutorial, but my printer is out of ink. Usually I would just trim it this time. I'm using the 79 cent paper because 79 cents. It was much cheaper than buying ink. I'm cutting off the top and then I'm going to measure it to make sure everything is covered and so it is with a few

dollar

s free Mod Podge to make my life a little easier.

More Interesting Facts About,

dollar tree diy farmhouse dupes...

I'm putting it in a bowl and then I'm going to start brushing it on the inside and you'll see why when I start wrapping it, I'm going to put a generous amount on the inside and then I'm going to start brushing it to the outside as well. I'm just going to cover about half of the vase and then I'm going to take my sheet and make sure it's nice and straight, perfectly aligned with the floor and then I'm going to start smoothing it out and wrapping it up because I've got a camera in front of me.

This was a little more difficult, but make sure to put a lot of pressure on it and smooth out any wrinkles. and then do the other side once you see that that piece is already glued in place so just keep pulling and smoothing and then you can go ahead and cut off the excess but I went ahead and covered the rest some areas that did I have. some wrinkles, like I said, I have a huge camera in front of me, but with my hands I just smoothed everything out, so once everything is smooth, I'll go up to the top and start making little indentations.

To convert it, you can cut it completely, but I wanted to cover the inside as well. If you plan on using real flowers with water, definitely don't do this because Mod Podge is not waterproof, but if you are using this for real flowers, then just cut them out and make sure they are nice and straight and aligned with the top piece and just add a generous amount of Mod Podge. Make sure you let it dry very, very well before touching them or you will lift the paper. So this is the original from Michaels, it's 999 and it's a lot shorter, it's not too expensive but I think it was cool that we were able to recycle something.
You can even do the same thing using an old coffee can and have a very similar look for under $3 for this tutorial. This is more of an inspiration than a dupe because it ends up looking very different, but I'm using a wreath shape from Dollar Tree and these wildflowers from Dollar Tree. I'm going to go ahead and cut them all out and then start gluing them into place. Normally I just open the wreath and put them on, but since the wreath has seen better days and is already very thin, I thought this would be the last.
Hooray, so I'm just hot gluing it into place and I'm using a total of two bunches of these wildflowers, so if you want to go ahead and use more to make it thicker, then by all means, but I think that would be, once you cut. all the stems look pretty good so once I have everything in place I'll continue to see if there are any spots or anything missing and instead of putting everything in I'll just remove some of the white flowers and just use the greenery or the other way around , what I see is missing.
I really love the greenery of these particular flowers. Dollar Tree is definitely improving, so in the spring wreaths I've seen at Michaels, the flowers they are using. They are white and usually Dollar Tree has them, but I couldn't find any so I used these white roses from Dollar Tree that I had in a previous tutorial. They are now off the stem and I am going to start putting them in. Instead, one of the wreaths actually looks like this, but I couldn't find it, so the one I'm going to show doesn't look like this at all. If you wanted to add more white roses, it would probably show up a little. a little better but I was trying to imitate the one I saw in the stores and I should have taken that video instead of the one I did so I'll continue putting up my white flowers now that the roses are up so this is a look at the original of the i got a video and if you want to add more roses or peonies to make it look like this then you can do it, this one was 59.99 which for me is a bit excessive and here we have my version which in comparison, looks a bit sad, but it costs less than five

dollar

s for this tutorial.
I'm going to use these square craft canvases and this one is 8 by 10 and I'm just going to remove these staples now that you can use. this using a normal staple remover or an upholstery staple remover. I already have two that I removed, so this is what it looks like and there will be two sides to this. I use two, but now you can use one. These are free stir sticks. which I bought at Walmart I thought I had enough but I didn't so if you wanted to use them this would be absolutely free you would just need to cut the end off to cover the bottom of your little tray so I did.
I don't have enough, so I'm going to use giant popsicle sticks, but like I said, you can definitely use the free stuff. I used seven in total and just added a generous amount of glue and then started placing my popsicle sticks the way I did. Trim the end of the popsicle sticks a little so they don't show on the other side of the frame, just make sure it's nice and straight, and if anything leaks out if you're not smearing it, it's not a problem. If so, make sure you give it a quick clean and sand it a little so that the stain adheres well, so now I'm going to let it dry completely, if you want you can put a little weight on it. so it dries evenly just make sure you remove all the glue let it dry completely and once it's dry we'll set it aside it's time to work on our beads for beads you have a few options so you have these beads from Dollar Tree and used them in last week's tutorial.
In order to use them you will have to paint them, so the way I painted them was basically putting them on a skewer and once I had them all on the skewer, I took the paint of my choice and went crazy. You can also spray paint now. If you are going to use these beads, you may want to buy about 4 packs because they are different sizes and you will only want to use one size for this, so sometimes Dollar Tree is not the best option. This is another Dollar Tree option, it's in the hair section and the benefit is that it's one size only, but you'll need a few packs or you can get them at Michael's Large Jar is $9.99 with a 50% off coupon, it's 5 dollars, so for this tutorial I didn't even use a third of the container.
By the way, I separated them all into two sizes, so I'm going to use this one. I'm going to go ahead and say I wasted 250 on that. I'm going to go ahead and put them on skewers and the reason I'm going to do this is because it will make it much easier to get a nice straight line with the beads. I'm not going to stain this or anything, but it makes it a lot easier and neater when you have them all together, this is what it looks like and this is what will cover the 10 inch portion of the 8 by 10, so I made two of those and they have 20 beads and then I made two for the sides that have fourteen or sixteen.
I'll double check it and write it on the screen to keep them in place. What I did was I removed each bead at the end, cut them out with some scissors, these are just my work scissors that's why they are so dirty and then I added some hot glue and placed my bead back on top. this will just help keep it in place and I'm going to do the same with the other side now that I've secured my four sides with hot glue. I'm going to remove this piece and bring back the piece that I added the wood to the bottom, now you can adhere this using a few different methods, you can use wood glue and just let it dry in place very patiently or you can use glue hot and will keep surprisingly well.
This isn't going to be one of those trays that you really want to lift, carry, and put heavy things on while lifting it, so for me the hot glue method worked really well, so at this point I really liked it. how it looked with just the beads and not the top piece so it's up to you if you want to save a little money you don't have to use the second canvas but I was trying to get this to look as close to the version as possible from Michaels that I can is much smaller than the one from Michaels, but if you wanted to make one that is pretty close to that size, I would totally recommend making the frame with 97 cent low sticks in the shape of the canvas, so now I'm going to make same thing on the top and I'm going to add glue to the main points, I'm going to press it down and at this point, since it's completely dry, I'm going to go ahead and use some white paint anyway, paint will do.
If you have chalk paint, then great and with a very dry old brush, I'm just going to use a dry brush blank because the Michaels one has dry brush all over it and it's stained as well, but I honestly didn't want to stain this. I have stained things on my channel so often that I felt like just keeping the natural wood color with a little bit of white would look great and I'm glad I kept it this color, but of course if you want to stain. Now you can, here's a look at Michaels' one for $24.99 and here's a look at mine for just under five bucks.
I'm only counting the beads for 250 because I'm going to use the rest of the beads in another tutorial for this tutorial I'm going to use a small vase from Dollar Tree and these are the beads I had left over. I have a bunch of that pack like I said this was five dollars after using a Michels coupon and I have a bunch of beads so I'm counting this as 250 since I used them in my previous tutorial but if you want to use the whole

tree

dollar, you can use these beads and paint them, but you will need about 4 packs or you can also use these from Dollar Tree.
They are in the hair section and they all come in one size. I'm going to go ahead and remove the label from the bottom of the base and I'm using this floral wire from Dollar Tree, basically what I'm going to do is I'm going to start stringing some beads until I get the width of the jar, so this will take a little time consuming but in total I used 27 medium sized beads and they covered the entire width of the jar once it is that size. I'm going to cut the floral wire and then start twisting it until it's nice and tight.
I'll wrap it around itself and then cut it and make two of these. for the top and one for the bottom, as you can see here, I'm twisting it around nicely wrapping it around itself and then removing the excess wire. Now I'm going to remove the beads and I'm going to take a long piece of floral wire and twist it into a random bead in two to make it look like two little shoelaces. I'm going to rotate it to make it easier to start stringing my other set of beads. Now this will be the length of the jar, so as tall as you want, that's how many beads you string.
I made on my first set of beads, too high so it's a little baggy on one side, but it's totally fine so I'm counting how many I've placed and now I'm going to grab my other beads and just string them on a bead at the same time. random and I'll start twisting them, cutting them and putting that wire inside itself. Now the reason it doesn't matter where you put the first one is because you can still move around the beads, so once you put them back in place you can just turn them around and now you're going to count the bottom, you'll count seven count and you will do the same thing you are going to do. a wire in half and then twist it to make it easier to string beads.
There was no mathematical reason for me to do every seven counts. If I wanted to be more specific, I would have divided 27 by the number of rows I wanted to have, but I just chose. Every seven beads I'm going to count seven beads from the top and I'm going to try to see where they join. I'll cross them and then cross the top so that each time a bead is in the middle. I cross it and then I cross the top and I always start where I left off last time, so I'll string it right where that same bead is and then I'll count seven backwards, meaning seven from the top if that makes it feel like it just crisscrosses and it does the same thing over and over again until you're done with your original count, so at the bottom I count seven and then I attach it to that row that I created earlier and then We'll just do this over and over again until you're done.
Now,if you want you can use the rest of the beads and make a little handle on the original. It has a handle but I wanted to use this for a candle and didn't want firewood around the flame so here's a look at the original and it's $19 .99. The jar is much larger, but that's up to you on the size of the jar. I want to use it and here's a look at mine so I really hope you enjoyed this tutorial and if you did make sure to give me a thumbs up. Thanks so much for looking.
I appreciate you very much and I hope to do so. See you next time
