Dollar Tree Christmas 2019 | 35 Christmas DIYs

Feb 25, 2020
Hello my crafty DIY girls, today I've put together the ultimate playlist of all my DIY projects I've done over the month of November and December, so have your craft scissors in hand and your hot glue, and Let's start making crafts. I'm going to jump right into the first craft that is destined for your front door. I'm going to grab these supplies I picked up from the Dollar Tree. I'll start by removing all the Candice fabric from the frames. Now these frames are thick high quality. pieces of wood, which is why I decided to use them. A lot of people have always been trying to figure out how to create a window frame out of popsicle sticks and all kinds of crazy stuff, but this is the quickest way to make a really lovely frame. farmhouse window frame so you're going to take two of the ends and glue them together and then repeat that on the other two and then once you have those blue ones together you're going to glue the middle to each other so now you'll have four pieces all glued together and to make it a little bit stronger because you know it's still hot glue, you're going to turn it over and take some popsicle sticks and glue them into the seams. make it really sturdy and strong without breaking or falling apart if you just drop it, then you're going to take some brown paint and water and dilute it to create a wood stain.

Now you don't have to do this if you're planning on painting it white, which is what you'll see me do below, but I want you to see that if you're more of a wood loving person, this is also a very nice option. I just wanted you to be able to see that if you take a little bit of brown paint and a little bit of water, it looks like a piece of old stained wood, so because I want mine to be white and I love white painted on things, my husband He makes fun of me all the time because I always bring things to our house and paint them white.

I'm going to take a little bit of this paint with a small brush and brush it lightly because I still want the wood grain to show through. I really love that rusty farmhouse look, but I also love that worn paint look, so I'm going to apply it lightly with a brush all over the frame and then once I'm done painting it, I'm going to set it aside and leave it dry and move on to another part, don't forget to turn the frame at different angles so as not to miss painting one side. That happens to me all the time.

Now you're going to take your crown and I picked this up. of the floral section was not in the Christmas decorations, you will have to go to that section and you will find all kinds of reefs that they have there. I took a photo that had pinecones and a cotton stalk and the

stems and I just cut it all off, as well as the vine that I bought at Hobby Lobby a long time ago that has a box of leaves on it. I thought the different green textures would look really pretty on this wreath once I have it. all my greenery glued in place then I'm going to add some color and that cotton stem.

I just think this looks so pretty and natural and more real than fake. You know what I mean? So I'm going to add my berries and my cotton stem and I think at this point it looks so stinky, make sure you hot glue everything in place really well just because it will keep it looking good in the long run, especially when you pack things up when Christmas ends. They can be crushed and broken. Now you are going to take the two birds that you picked up from the Dollar Tree and you are going to release their little clips on their butts.
You don't need them just because we. We're going to hot glue it into place so give your birds a good helping of hot glue and then place them where you want them to be and I think this looks so cute it looks like they have their own nest inside this wreath and it's Funny enough that every winter we have a couple of birds that lay eggs on our wreath on the front door and then to finish the wreath you will take a piece of twine, two of the bells, there are 12 in a pack so you can use them. these for other things, but I'm going to take just two of them and I'm going to tie them to the end of a piece of twine, this will allow them to hang nicely and look very pretty and then you're just going to place it over the bottom of the wreath and I'll hot glue it in place and let it sit for a minute.
If there isn't that burlap ribbon at the bottom, I decided to remove it last, so just ignore it, it's there, but to attach your wreath to your window frame, you're going to take a piece of twine, you're going to thread it through the back, you don't want to see it from the front so make sure you go down the back of the wreath and then you're going to tie it to your window frame and then to make sure it stays nice and secure you're going to take some scissors and you're going to cut that extra thread so you don't see it coming. the front and hot glue it in place now to make a hanger on top, you're going to take some thread.
I use a thick thread that I had twisted from Dollar Tree rope and then you're just going to add it. a bow that I am very excited to share with you all when I discovered that they had these two different glass items that fit perfectly together. I knew I wanted to make an antique lantern. What you're going to do to start is you're going to take some black paint and with the glass jar that has a handle, you're just going to go over it once. You don't need to go over it more than once because it will cause him some distress. in just a few minutes, so you're going to paint it all black and then you're going to take some white and some of that black and you're going to mix it up and you're going to keep adding layers of this gray color and this This is going to make it look more like a metal and as Just keep working with it and brushing it, you'll have a paper towel next to you so you can keep wiping off the paint if you get too much and just keep hitting it.
I put it on and get lighter and lighter shades as it goes. I love this technique and find it very therapeutic when I do it, once you're done and dried you'll go ahead and take some e6000, no one ever talks. about it but this really smells so be careful when you work with it, add a little bit of e6000 around the base of this vase and then you will put it directly into the jar with handle, now be aware that some will squirt out. See if you take out those trusty popsicle sticks again and just wipe off the excess, don't use a paper towel because it will just get stuck and then you'll have a big mess on your hands, so you'll add some ribbon around it with a simple tie and then grab a few pieces extra ribbon with little dovetails on the end and stick them towards the top and bottom to make it look like you have a nice, really big, thick ribbon.
Here I am. again with that beaded Gartland, I'm going to turn it over once and twist it into place. I love these things because you can twist the ends on your finger and it looks so cute you could stop here, but I like things to be layered. so I'm going to take this really nice pine pick that has a little bit of snow on it and I'm going to put it in place and I'm going to help secure it even more with this bead garland. I'll take it and twist it. Leave it around so it stays in place without falling off.
These types of items fall off over time when you hot glue them together, so this is really going to hold it in place and then I'll take some berries from that. The same pick that I used on the Evergreen and I'm going to put it behind it and glue it all in place. Now I don't know why I lost the arch images, but I added the arch like you. I can see and I also added a pineapple now that I finished everything I decided I wanted it to look a little better so I found this little plate that is also in the same places where they keep the vases and frames at the Dollar Tree and I just added that on the bottom a little bit easier, once it's glued and dry in place, you're going to take a little bit more of that paint and just to emphasize it, just like you did with the base, next we're going to do more. for a clamshell ornament for my glam girls, you're going to grab pearls from the Dollar Tree, they have different sizes there and some wire.
I used two strands of wire and the way I strung my beads was very simple. First I chose the wires together put a small bead, then I opened them and put a big bead on a wire. I put the wires back together and put a small bead back in. This allows the beads to lock into place without moving once you place them. inside your ornament and it looks so pretty and elegant you can see here that the larger beads are held in place because of those small beads. Then, when you're done stringing the beads, you'll go ahead and grab the wire. and you're going to put that right inside your clear ornament.
I think this is very elegant and pretty and it's the easiest thing to make and it's so much fun to string these beads once you have everything inside. take your hat to your ornament, put it back on and let's glam it up a little bit, so I took some Mod Podge just because I like it, put it all over the top of the ornament and now I'm going to sprinkle glitter all over parts. So first I made a sugar glitter making sure to sprinkle it lightly and then I decided to go back and add a little more of this Mod Podge all over the top of the ornament to make it look like Frost had settled all over once I put it on. sugar glitter.
I came back with a thicker, chunkier shine which I loved. I picked up this gloss from Target. I think it's so pretty they have so many different colors in this thicker glitter and then I also used it to Rub the sides a little bit and then to make it a little fancier I grabbed some thin white ribbon that you can pick up at Dollar Tree. I didn't tie it, I just wrapped it, used some hot glue and popped it. instead and repeated that process twice to get four strands down, then I took the lace ribbon that they have at Dollar Tree and made a bow and hot glued it on and yes after everyone's requests there will be a video of bow.
Coming soon, next is the easiest DIY. Oh friends, I'm so excited to share this one as I saw you guys coming out with these for Christmas. I knew I wanted to turn this into a farmhouse DIY, so I pulled out this cheesy silver one. tinsel garland that was on it and if you have this cone left which is perfect now the space between the jump rings is too wide for what we're going to do so I'm going to take some of this thread and again this came from the rope on the Dollar Tree. I just unscrewed it and it gave me three nice thick pieces of twine, so I'm going to cut that piece off and I'm just going to glue it in place and you can see.
That I'm making smaller jump ring sections that will allow me to be able to hit something on it at a later time and when you do that, you'll make sure to go between the other two, the one at the bottom. and besides the one above, make sure you glue them well in place so that there is no structural problem and it falls apart over time. Once you have them all glued in place, you will see that it is ready for the next step, so you are going to grab some fabric. I bought a huge, huge, huge fabric at Home Depot and then over time I tore it up and used it for my DIY jobs, so you're going to take your tree and you're going to figure out how wide you want your strips to be and once you Whatever you do, you'll make a cut in the fabric and then simply tear it all the way to the bottom.
I love doing it this way because it frays the edges and saves me from having to do that work myself. In fact, it speeds up the process. You're going to take those strips of fabric. You're going to pinch the end and this is to create a nice crease at the beginning and you're just going to hot glue it into place. Now we're going to make a ruffle around this tree and I'll show you how to do it. The easiest thing is to create a ruffle, but in case you don't know, I'll walk you through the steps at the beginning, so first what you're going to do is create a line of hot glue.
That presses down into place and then you're going to do a hot glue dot and you're also going to want to make sure you get all the way down and again, there are no bald spots, so now do a little bit. glue dot, pull it back, push it down into place, let it dry for a second and then you're going to pull that fabric back so you can put the next line of glue on, so you're just going back and forth. between the line dot line dot and then it will create the ruffle without any effort when you get to the end of the first section of the jump ring, you will take your fabric, you will take your scissors and I will cut it because you don't need any of that extra and then you will just take the end of that fabric, you will turn it inside out and hot glue it in place, just like me.
I'm doing here, you're going to fold it down and I'll show you one more time in case you missed it and to make sure it stays in place, I've decided to just put some hot glue on it, fold it down and then I'm going to put a little bit of hot glue on the starting points and then I'm just going to glue it in place and now you've finished the entire first row and you're just going to move to the end. up now to make sure the bottom stays in place and doesn't look weird over time.
I'm just going to glue little bits here and there where the fold is on the back to glue it in place. when you reach the top and after having given all the effortround, you're just going to complete the last little bit and the top, if you noticed I was pinching the fabric to make sure it's nice and smooth. Towards the top it gets less and less just because there's less surface area to go around, so it's not really that complicated, just keep tearing it up like I'm doing here now that you've got it all covered with fabric that you can decorate.
Technically, you could leave it like this with just the fabric if that's your style and you like it, or you can add a little ruffle at the top, which is more my style, so I'll add some of the photos I just cut out. into small pieces and I'm going to add a pretty sparkly bow. I think these photos are very pretty and I can't wait to show you what I'm going to do with them. Now raise your hand if you can't stand stickers that just don't leave friends years ago I owned a scrapbooking company and I'll tell you right now that when barcode stickers break like that it's simply because the company is trying to trim all they have to do is pay a couple cents more and put the prettiest stickers on the bottom so this drives me crazy once you remove that sticker or if you don't it just keeps going Go ahead and add some red paint to your jars to give it a nice coat. upside down and then let it dry, you're going to do that with all three jars and while they're drying and you set them aside, then you're going to continue to tear off some of those strips or If you've already done those, then you're ready to go and just wait for that the jars dry.
I'm going to fray them a little more and just pull out some of those fibers and then just hot glue them around the jar. I did something like this for a fall video I did a couple of months ago where I wrote fall on them, but this one is going to be fun and it's going to be so pretty I can't wait to show you what the O in the middle looks like so when When you get to the end you'll just fold it and hot glue it into place and then once the jar is ready you'll move on to the other two.
Now use a pencil and simply draw on your J. and your Y and make sure to line up your jars so that the letters are the same and have consistency. This is the easiest part girls, you're just going to go over the J with your Sharpie marker and then remember we're not going to do the O because I have something planned for the O and the best part of this is there is no drying time , it's just immediate, you're going to take one of these garlands and you're going to cut the hair because as of now it's a little too bushy to be able to use it for a mini wreath, so you're going to take your scissors and just go down the garland leaving some greenery and then You will trim off a lot of the excess.
You're going to get that out of the way, it's funny because it stuck to my hands and the table, like it was magnetized. You're going to go around creating your little mini wreath. You will try on the size before cutting. and then once you have it in place, you'll cut it to the right size and then keep bending it until it's the perfect shape you want. I wanted a long o rather than a short and round one. kind of look just because it's going to match the J and you better know that Rey made the look that we all love, then you're going to add some hot glue and put it on your jar and then you're going to add some cute little berries and cut out any of that greenery that might be a little unruly that you maybe missed at first, grab some foam squares that you can also pick up from the Dollar Tree, cut them to size and add a little hot glue to the bottom of each one and then get them all in there nice and snug so they don't come loose, this will allow you to place all your picks without there being any problems with them falling out and moving towards you, then just cut those three out.
Selections that I showed you before and place them all inside your jars creating a really pretty look for your Christmas tables or entryway, wherever you decide to use these jars. Then to finish the look, I'm going to grab some of this Kingham. tape I bought at Walmart. I love this tape. It's in their craft section and I'm just going to do a bun and it still looked a little simple so I decided to grab a button and really finish the look. There is something. about adding a little button to the inside of a bow that makes me so happy every time I do it.
I always love how it looks and here's the final look if you're enjoying this video don't forget to hit the subscribe button because 2020 is going to be my best DIY year ever but now Dollar Tree is carrying this rope and I love it when they find out that If you unscrew it it thins the thickness of the rope and one piece is perfect for the consistency of the wrapper. These candy canes you can pick up too, so I went all the way and frayed the rope a little to cover it, put a line of hot glue on it, and then started wrapping your candy cane, maybe where you're working. with hot glue you will actually see me behind my finger in just a second.
I put my finger right on it, Heidi, but I know we all have those moments, so be careful when you work with the hot glue once we get to the end, you're going to put a little bit of hot glue right on the tip and again you'll work very carefully and cautiously, you will see how I turned it until it formed a circle and then I am going to cut it. Put some hot glue. Make sure it's not too hot and then press that string into place to decorate this candy cane and to make it look a little more special I took these berries that were on a flower stem and just took out what I didn't need so I could get a little more hot glue topping, I put on a piece of greenery that I got from the twisted greenery ties that they also sell at Dollar Tree and then I just glued on the berries which made it look so adorable and then to finish the look I decided tie a ribbon and I think it looks really pretty and this ribbon didn't come from the Dollar Tree, but they have a lot of Christmas ribbon options there.
I also decided to add a button to my button collection, can you? Say I like to collect them with a little hot glue and a button, complete the look. Once you have all your canvases prepared, you will take your washi tape and create large letters on the canvas. Now I find that this thickness of washi tape is perfect for creating them. You don't have to worry about having a Cricut or having to paint perfectly, just rub the washi tape really well and it will stay in place. and then you can paint directly on it now. I recommend that when you use your washi tape that you paint away from the tape, as you can see, what I'm doing here when you paint towards it, no matter how good the tape is, it can still get underneath because it's a liquid, so you'll see that I'm removing my first layer of paint and then once it dried I went over it two more times to make sure the paint was really consistent and even. onto the canvas, once the paint is dry you are ready to move on and remove the letters.
You can see my canvases were still a little damp, but I couldn't wait anywhere. I wanted to see what it looked like and went ahead. and I picked it up. I recommend being patient, not like I just did here, but the longer you let it dry, the less chance there is that the paint will be able to seep underneath, but isn't that so cool? Can you imagine it? all the possibilities of words and things you can do for this sign and then when the paint is really dry, go ahead and grab some thread. You are going to cut pieces of thread along each edge of your letter.
I took some hot glue and tapped it gently. my twine on it and then continued around all the other sides of the letters. Then once you're done circling the letters, you're going to take the canvases, turn them over, and make sure they're all facing the right direction because I'm going to glue them all in place to create the sign, so what I likes to do. I took my washi tape, it's the perfect thickness, I put it between the two canvases and then using two pieces of twine I went ahead and attached them. instead, block them so they can hang from the wall when I put up my sign.
Hot glue is a little tricky in this area because you can burn your fingers so I like to use a popsicle stick so I can make I'm sure I didn't have any problems burning my finger and then I'll continue that beyond my sign , between each closed joint, so that everything is perfectly spaced and hanging from the wall, no. If you have any weird hanging issues, you don't have to use a staple gun, but I used a staple gun just because I felt like it would hold it in place a little better over time. You know things can slip and fall when it comes. to hot glue, but it's not necessary because in the next step, when you take a piece of felt, you cut it and put it on the back, it will really fix everything in place and also it will have a very nice finish and then at the end Very up of the canvas, this is the top of the entry.
I went ahead and put in a longer piece for a place to hang on the sign and then when you turn it over you'll see that you're ready to put on your oh. I took my bead garland from the Dollar Tree and created a bigger oh so I could put it there and it looks really pretty together and then to make it even prettier I took a little more thread and tied a bow and put it on. right at the bottom you could just use regular traditional ribbon, but I had this fabric on hand and I loved it so much that I went in and made a bow so I could put it at the top of my sign.
Leave a comment. below to tell me if you would like me to make a video about bows because I really love making bows with fabric and people always ask me about them, so let me know if you would like to see a video about that in the future, to make sure the bow came out nice and pretty, first I put on a little piece of felt, first I hot glued the strap I created earlier to hang my sign on and then I took the hot glue and made sure everything was in place, I cut the back of that fabric and there is the finished sign.
We're taking their big Christmas baubles that they have at the Dollar Tree and I'm going to grab some fabric that you can use of any kind. fabric, so if you don't have one of those little farmhouses, you can choose another type of fabric, but I thought it would look really pretty making this tan fabric and it's super simple to make this trim that you're going to take. a strip of hot glue, run it over the ornament, rub it into place, cut it at the top where the stem of the ornament is and then you'll continue going around until you've completely covered the ornament. now i will say before i made the hot glue i tried it with Mod Podge and friends don't do that it was so complicated eh glue is much easier to make so it's really a Pinterest fail if you try to use Mod Podge with Protective fabric I just think it looks a little dirty and old.
I really liked the hot glue version, so once you have the drop cloth covered all over the ornament, you'll take a little bit of leftover string we used. before and you're just going to wrap that gold part around the top of the stem of the ornament, you're just going to go around and hide that gold a little bit because it looks really pretty like that and then I'm going to take the Mod Podge again and I'm going to add a little bit to two leaves to create a little bit of greenery on top of this ornament, so I use every bit of these flowers.
I even use the wire sometimes when I need them. Never throw away your supplies because there is always something you can do with them. I'm just going to rub this Mod Podge all over the ornament, add a little bit of glitter, and then it'll make it look like the frost has settled on these leaves for good. add some hot glue and stick the leaves on and notice how I'm folding the leaves a little bit so they don't stick out weird when you do that, that allows it to wrinkle and then it looks just as beautiful as if it's naturally on a branch and then , using some of those glitter balls I picked up from the Dollar Tree, I put a dollop of hot glue on about six or seven of them and then repeated it two more times to create that berry look.
They are a little difficult to use so if you have craft tweezers I wouldn't recommend them because it would avoid burning your finger, but if you don't you can use your fingers like I'm using here because I'm crazy about this tape, you don't have to add it, but I love the way it looks so I went ahead and added two strips of this ribbon and noticed I cut them. Note that I cut them into a dovetail shape on the bottom and top, which will allow them to sit nicely on top and look very pretty on the bottom.
The next craft we'll move on to is a bird's nest and these and the supplies I picked up from the Dollar Tree. I loved these little birds and knew right away that I wanted to make like the little love nests of the winning birds. I don't know, so I took this styrofoam shape. It's a very strange shape, but I started thinking about what the biggest one would look like. base for a bird's nest, so I took some very thick jute twine that they have at Dollar Tree, went around the base twice and then turned it around and then spiraled it into the bottom of the bird's nest.
This will create a really nice final look whenfinished and where it looks like it is store quality craftsmanship. I like to try to make my crafts look as store-bought as possible, rather than looking like I made this at home for a fun project, but if you want to skip this step, you can just make a package of this. The thread worked great for everything and I didn't have to buy a second one. Then once you're done going around the bottom, you're going to move to the top and you're going to go around a layer on top and it's going to be hot.
Glue all of that in place. Now comes the next part, which is the most complicated part. You're going to take all these little fibers that you can pick up from the Dollar Tree and you're going to keep putting hot glue on them and massaging them. instead the more you squeeze them and interlace your fingers, just twisting them helps keep it from rising a little better. You'll see me do it a lot at this stage and then continue hot gluing. Bring them down until you can go around the whole thing and then at the top I took a bunch and placed it in a circle, like that, and you see I'm massaging it all into place, so Then, like that, when I hot glue it on, it's already in shape and I don't have to worry about trying to fix it together which makes it not fall apart and looks better quality like this. then once you have a bunch of hot glue, put it on and then massage it into the other pieces that are already there to help secure everything in place.
Now you can see that there is still that part in the middle. so I put a little bit more hot glue in there and took the last few loose fibers that I had in there and just glued them in, then go ahead and take your bird. I put my first just because I wanted it. so I could be the guide for everything I put in the nest and simply place that little bird. I think this is the girl because cardinal birds that are girls are actually brown. The red birds are actually the baby birds. We learned that when we moved to Missouri, once you have your bird, I will place a ribbon on the bottom.
I thought this looks really pretty and farmhouse so I wrapped it with ribbon, made another really cute bow on it and then put it in that seam so you can't see it and it looks nice and finished and then you can pass it on to your little one tree like forest scene. I don't know what to call it, but you'll see it in just a second, obviously the ribbon is optional, but I think it looks really pretty when it has a ribbon. I'm just a fan of bows, I guess that's okay, so for the next part here's that tree like forest I was talking about.
I'm going to take some pinecones, some leaves that were on this twig that I got from the Dollar Tree and then I'm going to lightly brush them with white paint and glitter and that makes it look more frosty, like it's winter. Home decorating project because you know this is for Christmas and then it's so easy to make things look like frost and snow. You just take some white paint, tap it on, and add a little glitter once everything has dried. I'm ready to put it together and this really depends on your own eye and what you think looks good.
I left my first sprig of that Garland stem and then put in my bird and then just kept building from there to complete that whole look. Once you have everything in place, let it dry and you will have some lovely new Christmas bird nests. First print out the printable I provided in the link below and once you do that and it's on pretty cardstock, you're done. To cut out the little musical paper sheet music, now I like to use thick cardstock, but you can basically use any paper that you have on hand and then when you have it cut out, you're going to grab some hot glue and you're.
You are going to put a small bead on top, make sure you leave a space at the top with the white cardstock so you can have enough room to place the popsicle stick there and also at the bottom but on the side of the music sheet. paper, you will cut it very close to the musical notes and then once the hot glue has dried, you will take some scissors and cut the ends so that they are not rounded and will fit snugly on the musical paper. You're going to go ahead and put it on the bottom as well and you're going to repeat the process again of just cutting that stick off once the front is done and you're going to turn it over and do the exact same thing on the back. of your ornament when you get to the top of the ornament, although you will take a small piece of twine and hot glue it on first, you will cut it to the desired length that you want. and then go ahead and hot glue everything into place so it's nice and snug.
This ornament takes many minutes to make. It's very fast. You can make a lot of these. You can give them as Christmas decorations to your friends. that you care about and love, and the good thing is that you can even make your favorite Christmas carol song. I just think this is the sweetest and easiest project to be able to give someone for Christmas and then add a little more farmhouse style to it. I'm going to take some brown paint with white water so it becomes more of a stain than a paint because I want the wood of the popsicle sticks to still show through.
I'm going to apply it with a brush lightly and make sure. Absorbing it into the wood is a really easy process and it dries really quickly and then once it's all dry it's ready to hang on your Christmas tree. Could you imagine all the fun things you can do with this ornament next year? I saw these snowman ornaments and thought they were so cute that I wanted to make them into a wreath, so I grabbed several of them and then, plus this bright red ribbon they had at the Dollar Tree, I realized they were the wide ones. perfect for sneaking under the berries on the snowman's hat so I can help you attach it to the back and tie it to the wreath shape, so once I did that I put the first guy in place and glued it on warm the back. of it so that it would not slide or move.
I went ahead and made all the other snowmen and you can see here that hot gluing them in place is best to keep them from moving towards you, then I grabbed some of this mesh garland. ribbon I forget what this is called, I always forget, but I took it on the middle pieces and then I duplicated it so I did it twice to create a bean bag bow that really looks like a bean bag and then the Dollar Tree has these garlands really great. Ties I thought this was very clever. I hadn't seen them before and I really love them.
In fact, I want to go back and pick out a few more because they were so useful for craft projects. I kept going and took that turn. Hello and then just twist it on that loop once you've gone all the way making them in the desired locations go ahead and get your Christmas balls which you can also pick up from the Dollar Tree and then you'll just stick them on. dots to again help complete your wreath and hide that wreath shape around the back of your wreath and you can add as many or as few as you want but I knew I wanted to add some pinecones so I didn't do as many. because I thought the pine cones would also make it look really pretty, so to fill out the wreath a little bit more, I took a little bit more of that garland twist and just went around some of the places where I noticed it needed more fluff and more filling and just made it look really cool once you walked through it, okay these pine cones aren't sold at

dollar

tree but you can find them at your local park when you go for a walk especially this time of year because they start to fall off if your pine cones are closed there are all kinds of tips online where you can put them in your oven to help them open and kill any germs or bacteria we've had forever so I've been saving I put them in bags and they were already open so I taped mine with hot glue and then this is the fun part.
I think about this whole project. I took some white paint and went over the pinecones and Christmas tree twist wrappers they sell. at the Dollar Tree and I just lightly tapped everything to make it look like the snow had settled on this wreath and then you can spray a little glitter as you go if you want glitter, if not the white paint looks pretty too and then too I'm going to take the white paint and I went over the brim of the snowman's hat and the top of the hat just to make it look cohesive and look like it was in the snow and then this ribbon garland was from the Dollar.
Tree too. I love this ribbon so much it's a little messy when you work with it because it has a thick glitter and it can fall off when you move it but it's so pretty in ribbon form so I loved it so I tied a bow on it and then I glued to the bottom of my wreath and used another one of those garland ties so I could really hold it in place and here you have the finished look, please like this video because it helps my channel and means a lot to me. Next, we'll work on a yarn snowflake.
The reason I love doing this is because you can make your snowflakes much bigger. In size and design, you can do whatever you want with popsicle sticks, so I decided to use a really simple pattern just to show you how to make them. I took five popsicle sticks, brought them to the center in a star tip, and then took some. little pieces that I just cut with my scissors and glued them together now it's better to glue both sides because as you can see it's a little weak when you only glue one side so I turned it over and made sure all the pieces were right .
The loose ones are in place and then I'm going to take two more pieces of cut-out popsicle sticks and include them and now it's going to be really sturdy and ready for you to put thread all over it. I also wanted to add some small bursts. on the top of the popsicle sticks to make it look even more like a snowflake because from now on it just looks like a star and then you'll notice that I put a little popsicle stem on one side and then on the bottom. that way so it's not too bulky on one side and it works better that way, after you've done all that, you're going to take the yarn and then you're going to start wrapping the snowflake.
Now, this is It's a little stupid to do this, so it's good to do it while watching a movie. You wrap a bunch of sections, put some hot glue on it, wrap some more, put some more hot glue on it and just do this so it's nice and secure and has a nice finish. When you're done and things aren't moving or changing over time, when you start to get to the top of the snowflake, you'll just want to slow down. a little bit to make sure the ends cover my sleeve but overall I think this looks great once it's all done and then when you get to the end of a snowflake stem you'll just go back down the snowflake snow and then work your way up to the next stem and when you're done this will be the complete look.
The following DIY is a little more labor-intensive, but it's a lot of fun to try if you don't already have a playhouse for your birth. scene, so what I did was I took my tallest trim, which was my wise king, and I figured out the roof line at the center point and how tall and wide I needed the back baseboard to be, once I had everything measured , I took my exact ornament. knife and cut now we're going to uncover the sides of the house or the manger and you're going to take another piece of foam cord and you're going to create your cutting lines and then you're going to cut them too and you're going to need two of those, one for each side of the walls and then once you have all the lines in place again, you'll just cut them out.
Now let's work on the roof. go to the highest point and then have a little bit of hangover and that will let us know how long we need that piece to be and then we'll also decide how thick we want it to be. I want it to be. like the same thickness but a little bit of hangover from my side walls, so go ahead and cut too. I'll have a printable link below with the full size of my manger scene so that way you guys can cut them out and figure them out. dimensions that you need without having to do them all here and maybe you'll miss one, so if you want to do this, there will be a printable link below, what you're going to do is take the thickest one. popsicle stick that you pick up at Dollar Tree and you're going to need two packages of these and you're going to cut out the rounded parts, you don't want those parts because we want to create that wooden back wall and then Once you've cut out the top and bottom, you just You're going to hot glue them into place along the entire back wall of your manger and once you've hot glued everything into place, you're going to work on the top, so now what you're going to do is take the popsicle stick, you're going to place it, you're going to turn it over, you mark it and then you cut it and I'm going to continue doing that so that you get the correct measurements all the way through.
I found this part so fun that it took me a little while to do it just because you are cutting out popsicle sticks and gluing them together. place but the total time it took me to go through the entire route was about 20 minutes and, like I said, I had a lot of fun doing it. I put on some music and enjoyed working on this project. Is veryfun to have something like this in your house because it's a memory forever. And I'm going to show you girls how to build this thing really sturdy so it will last forever.
After they have finished making the popsicle sticks on one side, they are going to take a cloth or whatever fabric they have on hand and you are going to hot glue it on the back, now I am just hot gluing it directly and then I give it the turn around and I'm going to use my scissors to cut and get that nice clean line without worrying about cutting it wrong. either cutting too small or having to create a pattern, not necessary. I just use my scissors and cut like this. Now we're going to work on uncovering the walls, so we're going to take more popsicle sticks and we're going to create that cut line again and then we're just going to hot glue it into place and we're going to do it on both sides, on the inside and outside side of the house, this will create a truly store-bought finish. and anyone who sees this will assume that you bought it in a store once you have both sides covered like this, then we will have a nice finished piece, you will take the thinnest popsicle stick.
You're going to cut the rounded parts off again and then you're going to hot glue them on because they're not long enough, you're going to need to have an extra piece in there and you're just going to measure it and cut off the excess that you don't need to give it that nice finished look. and you're only going to do this on one side, you're not going to do it on both sides because the other one is leaving to go to the main back wall, now that you have everything glued together you're going to go ahead and add the side wall to the back wall.
Make sure you use lots of hot glue, hold it in place and give it time to dry and then use some backing glue on the inside parts of the wall to make sure it's nice and sturdy, then you'll take another thick popsicle stick and stick it You'll hit the back wall like me. I'm doing here connecting to the side wall. This will be a great support piece for your walls so there's no problem with it breaking over time and you'll just push it down into place and let it dry again. You'll notice that it's too short to cover everything, so you'll have to repeat the step of creating a smaller piece there.
Now for the roof, we're only going to do the inside of the roof and not the outside and you can see here. I put in my popsicle sticks and then once you're done, remember you're not going to do the top, you're going to go ahead and hot glue the roof on. On the little house, make sure you use a lot of hot glue so that it really stays in place and you don't have any problems over time and then once you have it all glued down, you're going to take a little more hot glue on the inside place a long hot glue line use an extra popsicle stick and rub it in place make sure you do this because it won't make it look all lumpy and it will look store bought again and you're also going to do it on the sides basically anywhere where there is a seam that you are going to make.
Now take some brown paint and go over the small roof. You're going to paint a nice thick layer. of brown paint doesn't have to be super perfect and you really only need one coat of this and this is basically to help hide any white that may appear when we put the Spanish moss all over the top so now you're I'm going to use hot glue and you'll keep pressing down on these green Moss things. I forget what it's called, but again, this comes from the Dollar Laurel and now you will continue to add it to your desired look.
I wanted to have a lot on my roof. I thought it looked really nice to have a bunch in there so I'm adding more and more hot glue and more of this stuff and luckily when you take it out of the bag. it actually comes in woven strips, you pretty much just have to remove the excess that you don't want or you can even cut it off and then keep massaging it and putting it in place to make sure it won't show up over time, once you've gone all the way around the rooftop you'll continue Go ahead and cut his hair.
This appears to be the haircut video because we also gave haircuts to our topiaries, but you're going to go ahead and cut the roof line as well, if there's anything hanging down or you don't want it to look like it did. I think cutting it off rather than throwing it away is the best method, so we're going to work on darkening the wood sticks, so I took some brown paint and a little bit of water and diluted it and I'm going to go over it a few times to make sure it has really nice wood look.
We want it to look rustic, not too dark because I feel like that will take away from the beauty of the figures that are going to go inside, so I went over it twice with my brown paint and water to give it that look I was once going for. it's all painted and dry then you're going to work on the base and we didn't cut this before because I wanted to make sure we had the right base size that would really make it stand up and look really pretty on a table so once I cut my piece for the length and width that I wanted, I took a little bit of hot glue and a little bit more of my drop cloth and just glued it on and then turned it inside out and then pulled that fabric off. about a nice tight and hot glue in place once I did that I took my scissors and just cut around the sides and then to finish that seam line I put some hot glue on the core of the phone and then I just pulled it in and patted it. everything in its place.
I wanted the edges to look a little rough, so it worked perfect when I did it that way. Now what we want to do is take our scissors and create two holes for the strips because we want the actual foam core to touch. between us when we get the walls down, this will make it stay really strong without breaking and having problems, then use another one of those long strips of support hot glue and just take the hot glue with the popsicle stick and rub it on. across and then to finish off the back, do the same thing, add a little bit of hot glue and then press everything into place, allowing everything to dry, folks, this project cost me five

dollar

s.
I think everyone should try to make one they like. It's fun, I know it's labor intensive, but I love how it turned out. Taking a strip of red felt fabric, you will create a scalloped edge on one side and the other side will be flat. Now that I've been making these flowers. For years and friends I never make my scallops perfect so don't be afraid when cutting them they don't have to be perfect the thickness of this flower is just a little less than an inch and once you have it all. Cut out, you're going to take a drop of hot glue and start rolling it.
You'll notice as I roll it makes the flower look even prettier if you pinch the fabric. As you roll it, you don't want the scallops to line up perfectly on top of each other as you go because then it looks like a bunch of scallops. You want them to be off center from each other and then at the end you're just going to tuck that tail in and rough out the flower. I always like to squish it and play with the petals to really fluff it up. Here comes the gland part of this little rose. This little flower. grab some hot glue and just attach a bead that I got from the Dollar Tree.
Now you can skip this part if this isn't your thing, but I thought it was so pretty that it looks like frost has settled on this rose, so I'm I'm going to take some Mod Podge and then I'm going to take some sugar glitter and I'll just sprinkle it everywhere and when it dries it looks like glass, it's the prettiest thing ever and now I'm going to move on. For my little holly leaves, I'll simply take a piece of green fabric, fold it in half so I don't have to do this twice, and then create little scallops by turning my scissors outwards so that there are three slits. each side, as you can see here, and then once you've cut them out, I'm also going to put a little bit of Mod Podge on them and a little bit more of that glitter sugar all over because I think it looks really pretty now in the next part.
It's been around forever, it's nothing new, but I love pinwheels, so what I'm going to do is take a piece of text paper from a dictionary and create a zigzag fold from one side to the other and tell it all the way all the way and then I'm just going to glue the sides, the ends together, push it down and it's a pleated pinwheel that's going to be the cutest thing ever on this ornament. I'll take that modge podge once. again, pipe it on the edges, dip it in that glitter, and then add it to a Dollar Tree snowflake.
These come three in a pack at Dollar Tree so these ornaments are super cost effective and they are so beautiful when you make them in bulk and I put them on the trees and then once I got my pinwheel pleated I smoothed it out a little because it also I love that rough look, it has more of that farmhouse feel, I put a little more hot glue and added it to my flower as well as my leaves so they stand up a little better, I like to put a small dot of hot glue on the part of the stem, pinching it and for some reason it makes it stand up a little better and then the final touch.
I'm going to make a king bow and put it at the bottom of the ornament. I think this makes it look so farmhouse chic. I love this ornament so much that I'm bringing these three Christmas ornaments that you can get to the Dollar Tree. I'm going to cut the little thread that's on the top of them because we won't need them, once you've cut them all off, then you'll take the pegs that you have. You will also get it from the Dollar Tree and insert it into the bottom of the first one. Some of the noses may come off so make sure you secure a little bit of hot glue to them just to make sure you don't come off in the future and then you're going to take your scissors and cut some of that stick off so it doesn't have to go as far into the next snowman.
Once you've got them in place you're going to take some hot glue and make sure the rod doesn't slip any more oils, it just stays nice and snug in place for the last nomen, you're actually going to cut the bottom off . of his butt like that so that it's flat on our little surface that we're going to create in a few minutes once you've cut it out and you know it's nice and flat, you're going to take another stick and this one is It's going to go to the top of the that snowman and then he will climb onto the butts of the other two snowmen and then hot glue them into place.
This actually takes a few seconds, it's super fast and I think this is becoming. If it's so cute, already very whimsical and cute for Christmas, then you're going to take a piece of foam cord board and I, a four by four inch square, take your exact knife and cut a little hole in the bottom of that holder and the reason. Why are you going to do this, it will help the stick say and it will look really nice when you glue it all in place and then once you have all your little snowman on your stand, you're going to take some Mod Podge and you're going to take these little snowballs where they go everywhere, but it's so cute and it was a lot of fun to make.
Now I'm going to create a little box instead of having a sand box which will be a snow box. Cut off the ends of the popsicle sticks you don't need, add a little hot glue, and then place them around the four sides of your little square base. This will help all those snowballs stay inside and you don't. I'm going to have some trouble with them coming off in the future. I've said it before, but I really like to create DIYs that are really great quality because you know it makes it look more store bought so after I'm gone. around the four sides I like to take a little bit more hot glue and I'm going to place them in the crevices of all those corners inside the box like that so they're really secure.
This is the fun part you are going to do. just grab a little bit more hot glue and keep stuffing it all into that box, forming those snowballs, the hot glue will keep them in place for a long time and then you keep throwing it back on the plate, repeating it over and over again. To give it a nice finish, I'm going to grab this glitter ribbon from the Dollar Tree as well. All of these supplies come from the Dollar Tree and I'm going to put them there, around the base of the box, where these little jars are.
In the kitchen section, I love that they have a little handle, it's like a mini version of a mason jar and then I found these little ones at Walmart and these trees from Amazon and then the snow again that came from the Dollar Tree. you're going to take one of the trees, add a little bit of hot glue to it, push it towards the back of the jar and make sure you don't do it on the bottom. You are going to place the jar flat on its side. You are going to place your tree where you would like it to be and then you are going to take some glue, put the glue on first and then you will place the deer and keep in mind that the glue dries quite quickly because you are putting it on glass it tends to dry faster, but this will prevent you from burning your fingers trying to put on the deer's legs and get it in once you have the deer in place, hot glue the back of its leg and then You will take these little foam balls, be careful, they will everywhere, butThey're so pretty when you use them in ornaments and then a little bit of this shredded snowflake and you'll put it inside your jar and then you'll add a little bit. of hot glue to the lid and twist it and do it quickly because it can dry fast, that will help it set in place, then I took some twine, went around the handle, tied a simple knot at the top and then held it up. up to make sure it will hang in the right place.
I didn't want the thread to be in the wrong place before hot gluing it. I want it to look central when I hang it on my tree and then as you can see. I'm simply gluing everything in place with hot glue and then to finish the look I'll add another cute plaid bow. This Nutcracker ornament is super cost effective. I'm going to take five popsicle sticks with some black paint and paint half of them. popsicle sticks with black paint, this will be the top of the hat, keep them all in place while you paint them to make sure the distance you are painting is not too far from where his face is facing. be and then make sure you also paint around the sides so it's covered really well, then for the brim of his hat, I'm going to take another popsicle stick and just cut off the rounded parts to make sure it's the right one. long for his hat and since my tree is going to be a green tree, I'm using the color green, but you can paint it any color you want and, while the paint dries, I'm going to continue making yours. face now I'm going to use a Sharpie marker to start initially, but you'll see in a moment I'll come back with paint and I regret doing it this way because, friends, I should have waited. that green popsicle stick to dry so I can glue all the sticks together and instead you can see it's moving so be patient and make sure the paint dries before drawing the mustache and eyebrows see how It moves, I think.
I was struggling a bit with this and as I went along I kept thinking I should have been patient and waited for the green to stick to dry and then once the stick was dry I was able to add it and hold everything in place and move on to the next part, which will be the rear part. I turned it over and grabbed two more sticks just to help stabilize it so it would be a nice, strong quality ornament instead of looking like you made a craft project in a At home I like my ornaments and crafts to look very well made, so when I turned it over and the hot glue stayed in place with these sticks, I went ahead and took some of that black paint and went over it again like I said and just filled in some of those spots that I missed because because the sticks were moving and I should have been patient.
So at the bottom of his eyebrows, you're going to make two lines and this is where you're going to draw his eyeballs with the paint. I took the back of my brush because I just liked the thickness of that and I felt like I had more control than the bristles of my brush and I just did two whites of his eyes, so I go straight to the line it's almost a half circle, no it's a full circle and then for his mouth I took some red paint and drew a line at the bottom and you'll see I'm going to flip my brush over again.
I actually used the back of my brush all the time when I'm painting for small areas that are a little tricky that brushes won't let me get into and then while it's drying I moved on to her nose, took the tip of a palette stick and I just put it right where the mustache is between his eyes and put it in place and then when the paint was still drying, it wasn't ready yet, I moved on to the feather on the top of his hat, so again I used green for our house and these feathers also came from the Dollar Tree, a huge package of them there were all kinds of colors inside them so it was really fun to choose the one that would work best for my house decor. a bottom blob of hot glue this time it's a tablespoon bigger so the bead, when I push it down the glue will come out around this bead because I want to give it a little bit of glam, not too crazy.
I'm going to take some really thick chunky glitter that I found at Target that I loved and I'm going to sprinkle it on that spot of that hot glue so that it makes her hat look a little bit fancy now going back to her face. I made the blue part of her eyeballs and then I took little white dots and added them to the eyeballs and then on her teeth I just made little white teeth, this is my favorite part for sure, in this ornament I took a little bit of fluffy fabric, I now have This at Joanne's house, but you could go to the Dollar Tree where they have their towels and pick up one of them.
This will work great on this part for you and on the back I glued them first and then put a drop of glue. and then wrapped it around the front of his face, these nutcrackers are so cute and you can make them with all different colors to match your tree and your decor and then on top so he can hang, you're just going to take a little twine that I also got from the Dollar Tree and you are going to hot glue it into place in this next DIY. I'm dying to show you all, so here's the scoop on these trees from the Dollar Tree, they look very sparse, but I'm going to show you how to make them look fuller without using the long garlands.
I'm actually going to take two of the trees and put them together, so the first thing you're going to do is grab some wood and You don't have to do that, but I really like the wood base. You're going to remove this piece of plastic and then you're going to take all of the bristles and flatten them to the side like that. that if you placed it on the table, you could obviously tell that there were no branches in that direction. Here's a shout out to my friend Jessica for the measuring and mixing. She made a video a couple of weeks ago in which she took the bristles and pulled.
I lowered them to look more like a pine tree than a Christmas tree and it completely blew my mind, so after watching her do that I had this idea: what would happen if I took two of them, flattened them, and then tied them together with zip ties? ? Now that I've got it all flat and you can see that it's flat, now I'm going to take the other tree and put them together and tie them together. Now you don't have to use a garland to wrap it and it just makes it look so full and beautiful now we can leave it like this or we can go one step further and I'm actually going to group this little tree.
I've made a bunch of these and I'm going to put them everywhere. my house now for that wooden base you're just going to drill some holes and then fill them with hot glue but again you don't have to do this, you can actually attach the stand back to one of the stems of that tree and it works just as well, so once I have everything hot glued in place I'll move on to the flocking so here's the scoop on the flocking. I tried it with paint and then I also tried it with just the flocking. I found that it looked very pretty if you lightly added paint to the branches of the tree and then flocked it.
Actually, I don't have that. I didn't think to film that for some reason, but it looks really pretty when you paint the branches first. and then group it now, group it is very easy. I'll link below where I bought my flock, but basically you wet the tree and then sprinkle it and I'd like to recommend using a spoon because my hands got really dirty really quickly once. You're done flocking your tree, you're just going to take your spray bottle and spray it a few more times to set the glue that's inside the flocking and seal it to the tree for our next ornament.
I'm going to take this flat circular ornament and put some paint inside. I think this is the best idea because you can use any color you want and customize your ornaments to the style of your Christmas tree once you have that paint. all in, then you're going to take a tissue or a cloth or whatever and you're going to remove the excess paint from the ornament that way so it dries faster, then you go ahead and put the Put the top back on and take this ribbon burlap sold at Dollar Tree. It's finished in their floral section where they have a lot of their other ribbons and you're going to cut a smaller strip so it fits better on the ottoman. then you're going to take some hot glue and you're just going to glue it all in place so it stays and once you're all the way around the ornament, you're going to move on to this really pretty one.
I fell in love. I loved it the moment I saw it, this bead garland that they have, it comes in white and it comes in red, and I decided to use the red since I'm going to go for a farmhouse Christmas style and then you'll just add. some hot glue and wrap it twice, you can only turn it over once but I love how it looks wrapped twice. I felt like it looks fuller and more substantial than compared to flipping it just once when you get to the end of flipping it. twice, you're going to take the piece that you left hanging a little bit and where you're going to stop, you're just going to twist the ornament in about two circles and then you're going to bring those wires down.
Now you can leave it like this. here it just has a couple of little stem legs going down or you can thicken it a little bit more which is what I'm going to do so I'm going to take this smaller piece that's on the left and I'm going to fold it in half and twist the ends up like I did on this other part I wrapped around the ornament and glued it right in place. I'm looking forward to it, it will make it look so much more complete and store bought once you've done it. I have that hot glued in place, grab some tape.
I picked up this tape at Walmart. I had a really nice reel and I loved it, so you'll be seeing it a lot in my videos this season. For this ornament you're going to take another one of those paper pinwheels, some glitter and some Mod Podge and this time I'm going to use the thicker glitter. I want to give a lot of glamor to this one. I'm going to take my pleated pinwheel and just dab it on the modge podge, this is my favorite way to do it so I don't have to get my brushes dirty or get my fingers really dirty and then I'm just going to take that glitter and smack it in and really get a nice coverage of glitter on this paper pinwheel and then once it's all done, I'll just grab my snowflake from Dollar Tree.
This snowflake comes with five snowflakes in the package, making this even more cost effective and super cheap to make this. embellishment and then once I have a good amount of hot glue, I'm just going to leave that little circle, doesn't it look so pretty? Guys, I love this one, now you'll take it. I'm printable again and this time you'll take this circle and cut it around the edges, it doesn't have to be perfect, don't worry about giving it away for free if you have a working punch. too, but you're going to take a little bit more of that modge podge and this time, instead of you chorus glitter, I decided to use the sugar glitter.
I just liked the way it looked a little more to have that different shine. so I'm just going to take a little bit of that glitter and tap my little image of these little carols right inside and then I'm going to hit it and hot glue it into place and then this is the special part of the ornament that I've never seen anyone do. I made this on an ornament before and I thought it would be really fun so I grabbed a strip of this cardstock that says come and behold, we are super religious in our home so our Christmas theme really centers around the birth of the Savior so I'm going to take this strip of paper and I'm just going to twist the ends like moving it up on that quote and then I'll do it on the other one, so I'll go in the opposite direction. scrolling it up and then once it's scrolled up, I'm just going to rough that paper up a little bit to make sure it's a little wavy and I'm going to glue it directly to the ornament so it looks like a little piece of rolled up paper.
The next project we are going to work on is more supplies from the Dollar Tree, except for these little trees. I pick them up on Amazon and will link them below. You'll take your jar, remove the lid, and then we'll be. I'm going to use this Merry Christmas ornament. There are four in a package, but we only need one for today. You're going to cut that little thread that they have there and then we'll start hot gluing our trees together. First, I had a hard time getting to the back and if you do too, you can grab some scissors and then just push them down.
I decided to put two trees in the back and then the Merry Christmas sign in the middle. and then a tree in the front, if you missed it, this is also on that playlist I'm going to link below. I made a much smaller version of this and they are a little different as a Christmas ornament and they are just the cutest ornaments to make and give to people plus this one this is such a cute little smoothie jar and it keeps the kids super entertaining because you can put all kinds of little treats inside it once you have it.
Merry Christmas instead and the other two trees in the back. I went ahead and hot glued my tree to the front and then this is really fun and super easy to do: you're going to grab some snow from the Dollar Tree, this is just little shredded pieces of plastic and then you're going to take the foam balls and pour in as much As you can. wish and then you are going to hot glue the lid in place so first I put the lid on and then I put hot glue on the neck of the jar and thenI just screwed it into place and this will keep it from coming off.
I'm going to take a clear plastic decorative ball that I took off the top so I can hold it with my finger inside so it's easier to work with and then you're going to choose the color of thread that you want and you're just going to keep putting drops of hot glue on it and then you're going to keep going. wrapping the thread and this does not take long. I actually really enjoyed doing this. I thought it was really fun to make and the more you keep wrapping it, your goal is to avoid anywhere you can see the ornament.
You want it to be covered and completely with the ball, so you'll see that, you know, I'll get my momentum. I'll get going. in a circle and then I'll stop and change direction and put a piece of hot glue back on and then keep wrapping it again until I make sure you've covered all those spots when you get there and then you'll cut it out. your thread and then just tap that piece and make sure it stays in place. This next part is super fun and whimsical. You'll grab toothpicks from the Dollar Tree. I'm going to take two for the topper and then you have this. beaded red berry floral at the Dollar Tree.
I took out two of these little balls that they have, put a little bit of hot glue on them and then took the end of the popsicle stick and stuck it in the berry. Now you'll notice when you remove them, the red comes off, so I'm going to take some red paint and make sure everything is painted well. I also decided to paint the top of the ornament just because I thought it would be really cute. to go with the knitting needles, then once it was dry I took my knitting needles, stuck them into the yarn, hot glued them in place and added the top.
These are all of our supplies that we will use today. At the Dollar Tree we are making a topiary Christmas decoration, so you will take the gold ball and cut off that little stem that the ornament can hang from and create a hole big enough for a dowel that you are also taking from the Dollar Tree and hot glue it on place, then move on to the clear ornament by removing the wire that is on the top cap, hot glue it in place and then using the scissors you will push down on one of the holes create a hole big enough for another one of those sticks and then you will hot glue it in place once everything has dried and is nice and sturdy you will move to the opposite side of the gold ball using your scissors make a hole and then cut it out to make it a little bigger to the size you need for your stick and then they put them together and hot glue them in place while they continue to dry for a few more minutes.
I'm going to go on to make the actual container that they're going to go down in, it's just some foam that you pick up from the dollar section and a glass container, then using the garland that they have at the Dollar Tree, you're going to roll it up and Hot glue on this garland it's only a dollar for 15 feet and I used two of them, one for each ball, and the reason I did that is because you really want it to be nice and thick and lush and look store bought . so take your time on this one and keep rolling it, putting a dot of hot glue on it and then throw it back on and keep pulling things back so that way you don't have any problems with it looking flat or funny and not looking like a store. -purchased once you have it all rolled up you will take your scissors and cut his hair, watch out this is super messy you can see it on my face I think it's super messy just because these things go everywhere but the look and The results will be so beautiful it is worth it, once you finish cutting it you will grab some fabric of your choice.
I'm using a drop cloth and then you're just going to glue the First all four sides and then in the corners, pleat it into place and pull it all nice and tight, gathering it up at the neck and then I took some of this burlap ribbon that they also have at Dollar Tree in their floral section. and you're just going to tie a little knot and make sure you move it around until you get the look you want and then hot glue in some greenery and a flower city dot now for the next embellishment. Miriam kept calling this mistletoe. and we're going to stick with that, so these are the supplies that you're going to need.
Everything came from the Dollar Tree, except this little box with a stem that I cut from a vine that I have in my house all year. around, you're going to take two pieces of twine and you're just going to run them through one on each of those bells and you're going to tie them at the center point and you're going to do this for both bells because we're going to hang them together, but the trick is you want One will hang a little more than the other, so I recommend maybe cutting a piece of twine that's 11 inches long and then a piece that's 9 inches long. which you can see that they are off center and then you will hold them in your hand and make sure you have their location.
Hold that thread, don't let it go, wrap it around your finger once and pull all of those. Pull the thread fibers through the hole and tie your knot and then once you've done that you're just going to take your scissors and cut off the excess because you don't need any of that extra, it just goes away. so it looks messy, if you leave it there once you have it in place and you cut it, you're going to take the bells and separate them to have that center point where the knot is and So I love this stuff.
I've been using them this entire Christmas decorating season. They're just garland bows and you can pick them up at Dollar Tree and there's a bunch in one package. Be careful though when you cut them they make a mess so go ahead and cut a little piece off of that and then you're going to put hot glue right on the center point and you're just going to fold it over and then I hope this looks good on camera. but I'm just going to twist it because we want it to be rolled up there all together so it's nice and snug and this is why Marian keeps saying they look like mistletoe, you're going to give it a little bit.
Cut the hair at the top because again, these things can get a little crazy and bushy sometimes and now we're going to grab a little piece of twine because we need our hanging point again for our tree or if you want to hang. this above your door, how cute could it be, you're just going to make your little bow and then here's that bead garland again, your girls. I love this bead garland so much that I can't even express how much I love it so I'm I'm going to put some hot glue on it and then I'm going to turn it to the front and then I'm going to turn it a little bit and this will help everything stay in place. place very well and there will be nothing wrong with it falling over time. before I twist it I took my little boxwood stem right here and I removed the first two first and then I'm going to put that bead garland right underneath and I'm going to do a little twist and a little twist and this is going to hold everything so nicely in place and it will never fall apart and will last for many years and then at the end of that bead garland, I'll take it and twist it to create a little bit of a cube look.
I just like the way it looks. I don't know, it's just me personally and then once you have them all twisted, you'll finish the look with a little white bow and it just looks so cute, ready to kiss people underneath, you'll grab some clothespins from the Dollar Tree , you will lift its springs and put the two flat sides back together. Once you've done that eight times, you're ready to put together a snowflake now, this pack of clothespins can make big snowflakes and it's just the cutest thing ever, so the farm is so cute that then you will take them by their little flat corners and glue them like this.
I like to hold them for about five seconds before releasing them to make sure the hot glue has dried in place once you've made four of them and they all fit you'll do it one more time in exactly the same step as once you've You have another set of four glued together, then you'll put a good helping of hot glue on the center part of the circle and then offset them and glue them together to finish the look so you can hang it. To take some twine and hot glue it in place, now you can leave these woods raw or you can paint them, aren't they so pretty?
I found inspiration on Pinterest and wanted to try it for you girls. You can all recreate it yourself because I thought it was so cute. I took two 2x4 blocks, one was a little taller than the other, one was 12 inches tall and the other was 9 inches tall and then I'm just going to paint. with green and pink and you could do red, but I loved the inspiration photo where it had pink and I thought it looked really cute because you can add the red and it makes it look, I don't know, really pretty, so once you have the green and the pink painted, then you will go to the top of the other side and paint 1/4 black and that will be for the Nutcracker's hat and you will repeat the process on the pink. then you'll need to mix orange and white to get a nice peach color for the Nutcracker's face and then you'll just go around the sides and the front you won't need to go around the back because technically it's going to be covered in hair you don't even need to go around the sides but again I like to make things look store bought, so I thought, well, let me do it anyway, and I really like painting. once they're all dry, you'll take that bright red ribbon from the Dollar Tree again and go around the top of the Nutcracker's Hat.
Now the trick is to make sure it shows through a little bit. a little bit of that black paint because it will make it look like the brim of your hat, then I'm going to take some very thin white ribbon that I also bought at Dollar Tree and cut them small to fit. You have the exact measurement on this one, but you're going to create four of those, hot glue them in place, and then you're going to move on to the Nutcracker's hair. Now you're going to take some of this car cleaning cloth that You can go into the dollar tree card section, cut a strip and then you're going to work hot glue around the Nutcracker.
Now as I'm putting it on, I'm folding it down so that it has a nice finish and then I'm going to keep going all the way around. I'll make sure to turn it around and then fold it all over like this and Hot Glue it into place. This fabric is super fuzzy and fluffy, so it's really great for the Nutcracker's hair and his little goatee. Then I added some buttons I had on hand. You can use whatever you want in this. Some shiny little pieces. Some buttons. Brad's whatever. you may want to add it now, first we will move on to his face, you will draw a line for the forehead area and then move down towards his nose which is a rectangular shape at that stage, you are ready to move on to his mustache, it goes right below his nose and you're just going to make sure the tips of that mustache are curled because it's so cute and stinky.
I love the little whiskers on my nutcrackers and then for his mouth, it's just rounded. edge rectangle just below his mustache and then for his eyes I use the back of my brush all the time for the circles. I just like it a lot more, it's very easy to do it this way, so I'm just going to add a little bit of white right below that. forehead line so it can help me line up where I want the eyeballs to be, then I move on to doing the teeth as well on the back of my brush.
I just put a little bit in there and then slowly made the lines of the teeth now to help. the eye holds a little longer you're going to take your fine brush and you're going to go just under the whites of the eyes and with the back of the brush again make two dots for the eyes now I wanted to add a little more fluff to the nutcrackers face , so I took another piece of fabric and I just rolled it up like you can see here and glued it in place, then using red I'm going to make her cheeks rosy and then to add a little more texture and pattern because as of now it's a little plain, I took some of the ski and ribbon I bought at Walmart and then wrapped it around the top of the hat, I won't forget it. the eyebrows, in fact I almost forgot about the eyebrows and I filmed them and then I thought it looks a bit funny, something is missing and then I realized, oh wait, the eyebrows, when you're done with the eyebrows, then you're going to do one last thing.
You are going to create a line through the teeth to make it look like a nutcracker. I'm going to grab this art canvas that you see all the time in your thrift stores. I ended up getting this 25 percent off so it was even cheaper than $6 and the crazy thing is that this time there was a time it was $100, especially when you know it's made of MDF. I thought it was so crazy that they charged me a hundred dollars for it anyway. Now let's go and move on to our dollar tree. supplies I'm going to use two different types of stickers, some key tags and these little cubes that we often don't know what to do with, other than party favors, you're going to take your white paint and go over one side of You don't need to cover the canvas for complete, it will only be this size here once you have it all painted white, set it aside and let it dry, then take those twenty-five cubes and you are going to remove the handle that it has with a pair of pliers, then you are going to take the labels from the keys and you will also take 25 of them and remove all the circles ofmetal that are on the key tags, take those letters. number stickers and you're going to number them from 1 to 25.
Now these stickers don't have the best adhesive on the back so the best way to keep them long term is to grab some Mod Podge and you'll be just going over each one of them making sure they are well sealed and won't come loose in the future. Once the white paint is dry you are going to take your cards and center them on your art canvas, don't stick them all the way down, you are just going to touch the top piece to make sure they are spaced out well so if you need to move some things you can do so and then once.
You get them how you like them, then you press them all down. Now comes the next part, which is the smelliest part. You're going to go outside, don't do it inside with your spray paint and I'm going to go over it with several coats of red spray paint. This will take a little time to dry, so once you put it back inside and remove the paper from the back, that way all the wood will be exposed and you'll be able to see what you're working with when you start taking your stickers to reveal. the white underneath that you painted in the initial stages of this project.
You might have some paint here and there. Go up a little if that's the case, grab a brush that isn't valuable to you, spray some spray paint on a plastic bag and then with that brush you can touch up those spots without any problem. Now I loved how this looks. You don't have to, but I thought it was so cute. I took some white paint and it didn't have to be perfect. I simply went over the edges with little white stripes to give it that whimsical candy cane look. Once all the paint is dry you will take your little cubes and use some washi tape to create a drilling guide so that way you don't drill wrong or crooked, grab your washi tape and go. through three strips and then place your little cubes, determine the spacing, take a pencil and mark where you are going to drill and then with a drill bit you will go through the canvas, now you don't want to check your table so you will need to place some type of cutting mat or you can go out to your garage if you have a work table but I don't so I'm using my craft table and I'm just putting down a mat to catch the drill if it accidentally hits the table then take a ruler and you will line up the top hole and go all the way down the line because the number is odd, you are not.
You will have exactly the same number, although in three rows in the middle row there will be two less cubes than the top and bottom, then just repeat the same process and drill all those marks so that way you know where to place your cubes and you won't splinter the wood , go ahead and remove the washi tape and you will be left with all the holes. Now the cube has two different sides where the handles are, you don't want the one where the seam line is. You're going to want to take your tags and with some green string that I also picked up from the Dollar Tree, you're going to hot glue them in place and then tie a cute bow so everything stays in place and then make sure the bow doesn't stay Tied up, just take some hot glue and apply it to the top and bottom and that way it will stay forever, then you'll grab your drill and your screws and go.
Just screw the twenty five cubes into place, they are a lot of fun to put together and as I put more and more cubes in I loved how it looked once you had all the cubes drilled and in place then Now I'm going to fill the cubes with all kinds of cute treats. Now I'm using tissue paper that I bought from Target because I like the way they looked and you're going to fill each cube with that tissue paper from last year. I had a free printable, there are actually two, one that has Bible scripture verses and one that has service projects, so if you are interested in those, I will link them below, but they are free, you can download them and do them with your family during the Christmas season, if you love making advent calendars as much as I do, you will take that tissue paper and cut out a good sized square.
I would say it's about 8 by 8. It fits in these cubes, you're going to fill that tissue paper with the prints I gave you for free and some sweets and little treats inside each cube, you're going to take five popsicle sticks, space them out. evenly and then I'll take a sixth and angle it to create a roof line. These will slide a little because you're not going to hot glue them into place and then just create pencil lines so you know where to cut. To remove the excess that you don't need, you'll have two shorter ones, two taller ones, and then the popsicle stick that's in the center point, you won't cut it at all once you've cut all those things off.
Now you're ready to move on to assembly and I'm just using my scissors because I found it's easier to cut them this way. Now, hot glue popsicle sticks, when you put them on the wood, they dry very quickly, so I recommend making just one. point at a time will make your project look much better without the glue drying and things will lay flat and I'm still doing them one at a time. First I made the outside walls, then I made this center point and then I'm making the middle sticks, I don't know what to call them, but basically the middle Mills and then to make it really strong and sturdy, I'm going to reinforce the back with a little more hot glue and then another popsicle stick. it's going to lock all the walls in place and make them very high quality instead of just falling apart now we're going to work on the roof line, take a popsicle stick and place it on top, create that little line that you need and then you're going to lay them on top of each other and trace them out and I like to do it this way because we're going to miter these edges together and we want to make sure we have a perfect, seamless miter. edge and you can see that when I place them next to each other they're going to be the same size and then when you flip it over and mirror the image, it creates a roof line, so I'm just going to add that hot glue real quick. and position the roof line so it doesn't dry out and make sure you leave enough room for both roof lines at the top to meet at the middle stick, if you have excess make sure to wipe it off if it's cool enough. to the touch, otherwise you can use a popsicle stick to wipe up any excess glue that spills.
Once you have them in place, you'll turn it over and then add two more lines of those mitered ceiling corners to the other side. so it's really strong and sturdy and again looks store bought, now I want to make it look even stronger and more durable and pretty so I'm going to add a little bit of hot glue to the bottom making sure to fill in any of those little holes and this It's great if you plan to paint it, but be sure to wipe up any excess glue with an extra popsicle stick. Now I decided to paint mine with some brown paint and thinned it with water to create a more stained look rather than pigmented. solid paint, let's go ahead and move on to the star.
I'm terrible at drawing stars, so I like to make the solid line of the star and then cutting it out is much easier than trying to create the five points yourself. Really If you're having trouble with that, then I'm going to add whatever color paint I have on hand that's light in color and sprinkle some glitter on it because why wouldn't we want our star to shine for baby Jesus once you have it? Once this is done, you will let it dry on the side and then you will take some twine and a little hot glue and you will create your little bow so you can hang your ornament on your tree, it is very simple.
We're just going to put a little bit of hot glue on top and it's going to slide down between those popsicle sticks and then you can add your start on top. I am very excited about this next ornament. I know. It may not be everyone's favorite, but I love them because I love the farmhouse look, so again I'm going to create a large star template with a piece of computer paper and keep drawing until I like the shape The dots look like, but like I said, I basically made that solid line star look and then I'm going to keep fattening them up so they look the right way because even drawing these lines by hand, stars, I suck at that too, so I just fattening it up again and then I'm going to trim it out and this will become the template for my next ornament and I love them because they're really big as you can see they're about eight and a half. inches wide because I'm using the whole sheet of paper, once you've cut it all out, then you're going to lay it out on three layers of fabric and I'm using a white burlap, just wait, I think this is It's very pretty, you can embellish it all Whatever you want, but mine was very simple because I feel like my tree is already going to be very intense with decorations and I love the size that it will look on my tree.
Go ahead and pin it to your three pieces of fabric and once you cut it all out you will be ready to assemble and this will be the reason why we needed three pieces, the first two stars we will glue on top. one from the other and then the third. I'm going to show you in a minute what it is for now because you're working on fabric, you have a little more time to work with hot glue, so go ahead and continue to the end. around all the edges and then you're going to take that second extra star and place it right on top once you've glued it all in place you're ready to move on to the next part.
Go ahead and add a little more hot glue, but this time, where my hand is, I'm not going to glue that part because we're going to fill in these stars and they're going to be these cute little crushed stars that are burlap to put on your tree. I think they are so cute that now you want to be able to hang it, so go ahead and add a little string bow to the top and then leave that star. Now you're going to need some batting. and you're just going to tuck that in and then to finish the look, you're just going to hot glue the last of that fabric together again.
You can embellish them as much as you want, but I really loved it. simple look at the simplicity because I think they are pretty on their own for our next project. you are going to buy one of these gift boxes. I think they are for wine. They don't drink wine in the Samba house, but she knew that. I wanted to use this for something else, it was the perfect height, so I went ahead and spray painted it once it was all spray painted. I gathered these other supplies, some buttons, some ribbon, this adorable little hat from the Dollar Tree, it's actually an ornament and you just cut the ribbon at the top and then you're going to go ahead and hot glue it to the top of the box where you will be able to remove the lid once you have it in place go ahead and take one of the pictures they have the Dollar Tree and they just take it apart and start hot gluing things that they think look pretty so I added this stem of green pine and also this pineapple.
I thought they looked really cute on top and then they'll take some. of this tape I love this tape, but let me warn you friends, this tape is very dangerous to work with when it comes to hot glue, so if you are going to do this as a family project, know to use popsicle sticks to help push tape. tape down instead because it's kind of a thin mesh with glitter all over it and it will burn your fingers, it will go right through that mesh and it will make you very sick, so keep that in mind when you work with this tape, but it is so bright and pretty, I love it, especially because the box is so crisp and white, Jenna, so you'll see me here working with a popsicle stick because it works best by pushing this ribbon down into place and then Grab some of these garlands from accounts that they also have at Dollar Tree.
I love these things. I feel like I'm wearing them in every video and they have them in gold, white and red. I feel like someone said money, but I didn't. I haven't seen it in silver, so if you've seen it in silver, maybe that's an option too, so you'll go ahead and just place the bun tails in the positions you want and then just hot glue a few bits of No You get them all the way down, you just want to help add some height and depth to your ribbon and then get some hot glue and put it on.
Those darling buttons now I had enough buttons to make three for her belly and two for her eyes, but when It was time for the smaller buttons, I couldn't find them and I decided I was going to make them myself and show them to you. In a second, so next we're going to work on his nose. I took a piece of this burlap ribbon that they have in their floral section at Dollar Tree and then I just folded it and added hot glue to it. Folding it and adding hot glue. I'm absolutely thickening it, once it's nice and sturdy I'll cut it into a carrot shape.
I really love the texture of this and I think it's so lovely on his nose once you've cut it all out and it's. Ready to get started, so you're going to take some orange paint and lightly touch the top of that burlap. Now I am using my finger because I feel that this will not allow it to bestain too much. I don't want him to do it. Be crazy orange, I just want it to be slightly orange, you know, you understand it's his nose and then you're just going to hot glue it in place and I pointed my nose down because I wanted it not to collide with the opening of the box. so keep that in mind, okay, let's go back to those little buttons.
I found some small buttons in my kit. This is actually from a scrapbook button kit I bought years ago and I'll paint them black once I get them. When I painted them I can go ahead and add her face but first while they are drying I decided to add a really pretty red bow with that same ribbon and then I was able to make her little smile so I went ahead and just made little hot glue dots and then he added his smile and here it is all done. I'm not the creator of the following idea, but I've seen them online and I wanted to make my own version of them because I think they're really pretty and I wanted to add them to my tree, so again all of these supplies came from the Dollar Tree except the fabric and the box with stems that came from a vine and to start you will take some twine.
Cut off the existing hanging gold ribbon that was on these Dollar Tree ornaments and now you're going to make one with some twine to get the right measurement. You will place the ornament on the fabric. You'll pull your fabric to one side so you know how wide it needs to be cut and then you can fold it like an eyeball knowing that you're going to need these sighs, now this ornament that I bought from the Dollar Tree is a five inch ball, but the fabric that I'm going to cut I'm going to make it bigger than that.
I'm going to use a fourteen inch wide square, so to hot glue it on you're going to put a dot in a while because again we're working with plastic and hot glue and it dries very quickly. I'm just gluing on these four corners first the flat sides and then where the points are the peaks, I'm going to pull them out and just hold them. Working, pleating and gluing it into place like this and you'll continue on all four sides making sure everything is nice and tight or taut as Martha Stewart likes to say. I can never put it that way. but anyway, maybe some of you will, so I'm going to tighten it up nice and then once it's all tight and glued together, you'll take more surprise white feet from Garland and I.
First I'm going to hot glue it in place, first I put a little dot there, I actually forgot to show it and then I'm going to keep turning it and pulling it nice and tight down where the little bump is where you put the thread. before, you let it hold on nice and tight and then you just hot glue it a little bit more, twisting it all into place and then you're ready to embellish this ornament a little bit more, so here I am again with my little boxwood. stem leaves I think they are very pretty.
I love how they look for Christmas and then after I have two in there, I'll just twist them into place making sure they're secure because these things. When you try to stick them on the fabric, they naturally don't want to stay, they're just too bulky and the materials, I don't know, don't want to fit together and then I'm going to grab some of these little berries. that I picked up from the Dollar Tree. I didn't show it. I forgot to show that part, but I also twisted it and then once they were all glued and twisted into place, I took the ends of my bead garland and once again.
This topper, like I did the other one, I just twisted it around on my finger and then cut it into cubes, stretched it a little and then shaped it the way I wanted and then to finish the look I added a bow. the ornaments and voila, it's beautiful the next ornament is a whimsical farmhouse ornament. I think this thing is so cute and stinky. I'm so excited to share it. You're going to take these thicker popsicle sticks and cut them up. rounded edges because you won't need them, once you've done that, 2/3 popsicle sticks, then you'll take another popsicle stick, cut two small pieces and hot glue them in place, this will help you.
To be stronger and not fall apart you will then take some brown paint and dilute it to create a stain that will show every time you dilute the paint, this will allow the wood to come out and it will look very pretty once you have it. all painted and you're letting it dry, set it aside and you're going to move on to these little letters that they have at Dollar Tree. You can get this in their craft section, where they carry these supplies and this moss. this also comes from your floral section you're going to take the letters J oh why to spell joy and then you're going to put hot glue all over the top wooden surface don't burn your fingers because it's close to the edges once you have a nice flat layer of moss, you're going to take your J and just place it on the moss and then use your scissors to cut off any excess hanging off, which will create a really cute look on these. letters almost like a topiary and then you'll just take some twine that they also have in their craft section, hot glue some and then glue the letters to the barn and the door.
I decided to tie an overhand knot, first cut off the excess. and then I tied a bow and then hot glued it in place. I think this ornament is very cute and it is very easy to make. Once you're done, let that side dry by hot gluing a piece of twine for the handle. The supplies you're going to need are three large red balls from the Dollar Tree and then these three decorating items that you can buy for a dollar each. Now when I discovered that I could cut these ornaments, I knew right away that I wanted to turn this into a parachute so that I can have these three little elements of Santa, the reindeer and the penguin, to parachute from my roofs, so it's really simple just grab a pair of scissors and you're going to make a hole in it and then you're going to cut in a circle and you want to keep the part that has the actual hanging part on top so you can use it later to hang your decoration so you're going to take your Sharpie marker and Now you're going to create scallops, but you'll want to find the seam line on the topper.
They should be very easy to see and then on that initial sewing line, you're going to create scallops that go towards the On the other side you're going to do four between each sewing line, so you'll see me do one and then two, three and then latest. I go back to sewing line four and the reason why you're doing that. it's because you're going to want four on one side and four on the other side to have an even number and then you're going to do four as well on the back of the ornament once you've gotten all of them with your Sharpie marker and you've created these scallops, then you will take your scissors and you will cut at the end points where the scallops meet and you will cut very easily, this plastic is super super easy to cut and then you will take your scissors and you will work slowly and carefully around that arch and then you will repeat that all over the other until they are all cut and ready.
I really had a lot of fun making this and I think even kids could do this if you want to do a DIY with your grandkids or even your kids at home. I just think they are great and can be hung in a nursery. space for

decoration, if you like to decorate his room or just put something a little special in his room, once you've cut it all out, it still looks too simple, so I decided to grab some white paint and then you're there. I'm just going to go around the ornament and this is why you needed eight scallops because when you're done you're going to have four white ones and there I'm just going to say triangles you're going to have four white scalloped triangles and then four red scalloped triangles so when you're going around take your time no you rushed and found out that I wanted two coats of white paint, you could even do three if you really wanted it to be like a crisp solid white, there's something about this red spray paint on these balls that peek out so I recommend applying two or three layers of white paint and then once it's all dry and you like the way it looks, you can leave it like that or you can do it a little bit fancier, I'm going to take some glitter and decorate this and make it a little more special, but first let's not forget the bottom part, so you're going to take some red paint that you have on hand and then Now we're going to quickly paint the inside.
Again I liked two coats of red paint because I felt it covered it better. I'm always a fan of having a good paint job to make it look like quality decor. versus something we expanded, so let it dry on the bottom and then with a little bit of Mod Podge you'll take a very thick amount and go over just the white part of the parachute once you have it on. then take some glitter and just sprinkle it all over covering it well and then do the other four sides and this is what it looks like when it's all done set it aside to let it really dry and while you're at it go over and pick up Lift your three figurines and you will simply rotate them until the bottom breaks off.
This comes off very easily. Next you're going to grab some rope from the Dollar Tree and I talked about this before in my other DIY videos, but I love this rope because you can use it at this thickness or once you have three cuts you'll need three of these. Once you've cut them, you can take them and untwist them so they're not as thick, but it's still a nice thick piece of twine and I think this is the best way to be able to use this rope. Now what you're going to do is take two of those ropes and take your little one. figure and right where his hands are because all of his hands are up like he's already trying to skydive, you're going to apply hot glue to both arms, your string now make sure you make the string the same length so that when you hang it Santa won't It's leaning crookedly over the parachute and then all you have to do is line up the string up to its armpits and then pull it all the way up, even if it has a gift, it won't change the dimensions of how it hangs and moves on the parachute and then when the top of your parachute is dry, go ahead and grab a nice green bow.
I picked up that ribbon from the Dollar Tree and then on the other side, you're going to take some hot glue and one. corner that goes to the other corner, make sure you have the right direction with your bow, you don't want your bow to end up crooked or sideways, you will add a thick line of hot glue and then just hot glue those strings in place and then , to make sure they are really secure, take some more hot glue and check them. I put a lot in because I really wanted it to be there strong and not come off over time.
To clean up your project add a little red paint to hide the hot glue. I was nervous about this one, but I wanted to try it. I saw this wire and had seen wire-shaped ornaments before and thought, man, that has to be it. pennies and nickels to make, so I grabbed some wire from the Dollar Tree. I don't remember the gauge but it's definitely a thicker gauge and wire and you can tell just by looking at it that it's very thick but it holds its shape very well and it's not difficult to work with so what you're going to do is take the cable, not cutting a piece because you don't know how big you're going to need it to be just because I was nice. free hand this but I zigzagged back and forth and my spacing was about two inches on my zigzag so I zigzagged up and then down and each stitch is about two inches long and you're going to need five of those because we're going to cut off the excess, let's see how I left a little bit hanging at the end there and also on the other side.
If you want to have a little bit more, once you've finished forming your item, you can twist the end parts so that we can actually make a star if you can't tell because there are five points and at this point I was a little nervous because I was thinking Oh my God! This thing is a disaster. I can't even write stars freehand. What am I doing with wire? But I kept the faith and kept moving forward, that last extra piece I folded and suddenly it became a star friends, I fight with the stars, if I can do this, you can do this, so all you're going to do is keep working there, it looks like a star and then there you go, at this point it still looks a little rough until the next part again.
I kind of dreamed this in my head. I thought it would be so pretty. I grabbed some drop cloth strips and someone asked me if you had to have Actually, you can take an old sheet and do this too, but create some strips using drop cloth or an old sheet or whatever fabric you have on hand that you like and then you'll just wrap it around those metals. edges of the wires and then you know that when you get to those corners you're just going to work the fabric, turn it in the direction you feel, go with the flow, feel the embellishment as it was won with it and then when you get to the end you're going to shake that last piece and then hot glue it into place and look, can you believe this thing was a mess at first?
I was losing faith and look it turned into something so cool and then We're going to create a loop of hanging thread at the top and then we're going to add a little bow now guys I don't know about you but I love this whole thing and I think arenice that it costs practically nothing to do. It's crazy to think that the store searched so hard for these metal shaped ornaments for the next ornament, you're going to grab a towel from the auto section of the Dollar Tree, you're going to grab these little wooden ornaments and some red paint, now can. use these ornaments for lots of different things.
I've seen people using them for Garland and I think that's really cute too, but we'll use them as decorations for what they used them for. I'm going to take some. red paint and once again dilute it with water so that the wood grain can come through. I feel like whenever you can see the look of the wood grain, it looks more farmhouse than traditional, so I painted one side when I first made this and I regret it. just a little tip, paint both sides. You'll love it so much more if you paint both sides because you can have them either way facing their stockings on your tree.
Once you have them all painted red, you will leave them. very dry because you want them to not move on to the next part by accident, grab the cloth you picked up from the car section, this is just a towel to dry the car, but I love that it has a little bit of lint so it's perfect for these stockings, you are going to measure the thickness you need to go around the top of the stocking, cut a long strip now before gluing it, take some twine, fold it in half and hot glue it in place. will allow you to hang it once you've learned how to apply the glue, then you're going to take a little bit more hot glue and then you're just going to take that fabric and wrap it all up Now you can leave it like that, but I noticed that when I turned around you can see the wood showing up on the top and bottom sides where it goes down towards the trunk so I decided to add a little bit of hot glue on the top just a little bead and then I pinched it in place to really make it look like a stocking and then you're going to do that again on the bottom sides where the boot meets the fabric, this just completes the look and makes it look more store bought, now you can leave it like this with just the red and white, but again I think it would be really cute if I added a little flair so I grabbed this stem from the Dollar Tree cut off a leaf, pinched it in place and added a berry.
