Does My DIY Smokeless Fire Pit Really Work? Truth Revealed!

Jun 04, 2021
You can call me stupid, hey guys, today I want to talk to you about the

smokeless

fire

pit I built a couple of weeks ago. There have been a lot of questions about it in the comments and, frankly, some accusatory statements, that's shocking. I'm going to give you some tips and hints that I've discovered since I built it I just want to be completely honest and be upfront with your spoiler alert it

work

s even better than I thought it's amazing sorry about the lighting it's super bright in here and there's no cloud in the sky, but I want to show you very quickly how this

smokeless

stove

work

s.

I haven't put the caps on here yet, so I'm going to take them off real quick. The basic premise of how this works is cold air. with fresh oxygen it enters these spaces where I got the papers from, then that air rises through the space between the ring and the pavers and once it reaches the top it heats up at that point and comes out through the hole and provides hot oxygen. fresh air to create a secondary burn now I'm not an expert or a scientist I'm just telling you how the individual

fire

pit and brio fire pit explain how they work some people told me that on those fire pits when they are working with maximum efficiency, in fact you will see little flames coming out of these holes, now you never see that, but the other night I noticed that every time we used this it got hot enough like when my girls held it like a small stick over the edge would light the extreme because the air coming out of there is very hot.

More Interesting Facts About,

does my diy smokeless fire pit really work truth revealed...

Take it as it is. I'll have more information on that later. Let's talk about problem number one. Some people said that the second fire was. small compared to the first fire, it was just made of little sticks and twigs, I mean it's not like everyone

does

n't know that when you put five logs on the fire it

does

n't smoke, but when you put that sex log on it. he smokes like a freight train you know what I'm saying you know what I'm saying I know man that's what I'm saying he doesn't even use a scientific method I like his style where did you get those pants?

People said the second fire didn't smoke because it was further down the shaft unlike the first fire. Let's listen to what Jim Bob said. Siri seriously did it before the fire was way over the edge of the pit and after the fire way way down the pit and he calls it a comparison your contraption must suck or you would have been fair with the results you won't waste my time again I don't recommend it it was made specifically for fools like you oh jim bob he got his paints in a big wad To Jim Bob, I wish you good morning, sir.

I'm going to show you why those guys and Jim Bob were wrong later in the video. Many of you left very good suggestions in the comments about improvements that could be made, so I want to go over them with you and tell you what I think I wish I had done there, go coco, come eat, let's allow air flow . I removed three of the pavers from the bottom ring and that left three big gaps which I think works

really

well, it lets a lot of air in there, but I couldn't do it evenly because I didn't have the right amount of bricks because I was just using the pavers that I already had.
Some people were here. I mentioned why I didn't space them evenly and it's actually a great idea. It never occurred to me to do it when I was filming, so it's actually pretty cool, take out three or four of the pavers and then you can space out the rest. and you know you can leave a smaller space on all sides more evenly so that's a great idea, another idea would be if this biting fly would leave me alone because it's driving me crazy right now, it was suggested that in instead of drilling the holes. around the top of the fire ring, just drop the fire ring down a few inches and let the air flow over it and actually, that's a fantastic idea too.
I think again, I'm not a scientist so I don't know how. that would affect anything, but I think it would work basically the same. The only reason I had it all the way up and drilled the holes was so I could put the lid on top of it and it would actually have to rest on it. well, here's another tip and I think I mentioned it in the other video is that instead of using these are 11 and a half inch stackable pavers, I think they are sold as an 8 inch one if you make your fire pit with all eight. inch and then bought the caps that are pre-made for the eleven and a half inch ones, you wouldn't even have to make your own concrete caps for this so it's another huge time saver for you - I use this fiberglass mesh for give it a little extra strength instead of using rebar because technically I couldn't find any small rebar.
You probably don't even need any rebar or mesh on this. I only did this as an extra precaution in regards to the rebar. In fact, you could use hardware cloth or even chicken wire to attach to the back of this. They are very easy to find at a local hardware store to add texture to my concrete. I used baking soda and that's what gave it this

really

aged look. Some people don't. So you know, if you don't like it, you don't have to do it, but other people asked if you could use a texture like the ceiling to throw into the mold or anything else that would work.
I really don't know if that. It will work or it won't. I was in the precast concrete industry a long time ago and this is what we use. We use baking soda and water because you can give each piece its own individual texture. It is easy to dissolve from concrete once it comes out. of the form and whatever is left on the form is also easy to wash. Another one of my favorite tips that was in the comments was to use high temperature black spray paint to spray the fire ring. I think it's a great idea for a couple.
One of the reasons I'm not really after having this for a while. I'm not really thrilled with the silver interior. There's just something that looks sketchy, so I think this black spray paint will be great. In fact, they have it. 1200 degrees, they actually had a can right next to it that was 2000 degrees and don't ask me why I didn't buy that. I just bought this one. There's another reason you might want to spray yours and I'll get to that in just a second we'll talk about the second most controversial issue about this smokeless fire pit, okay, and that is that the fire ring itself is galvanized.
Several people commented on how dangerous that wasn't really, welders have to deal with that because they are using very high heat and I mean their faces are pretty close to what they are welding and when you apply high heat on galvanized metal it can produce fumes. harmful and if you are not in a well-ventilated area and breathe it can cause coughing and has no long-term side effects. Welders drink milk to get rid of it. I'm outside in this huge, I mean, can you get any better ventilated than this? I don't believe it unless you go. to enjoy if you sit around your fire pit like this and like that then I don't know what to tell you, however if that bothers you you can remove the zinc layer with vinegar and you can also do what I mentioned with the black paint you can paint your ring with black paint and that wouldn't be a problem, but as I mentioned, I can do it just because I don't like the silver look, but I'm pretty paranoid about safety, especially since I have three little girls and I don't see this being a problem at all, so make your own decision on that as some people thought that fire wasn't big enough to prove anything.
I'm going to rectify that right now. We are going to light a big fire with horns, we will endeavor to allay any concerns anyone may have about whether the smokeless fire pit works or not, we will settle this debate from now on and a mole right now there is a lot of wood in there and that . It's hot, I'll tell you this if you want to light a small fire, I would definitely recommend using a smaller ring, this works best once it really gets hot, once it gets hot on the sides is when it really starts to burn the smoke.
In fact, you can see. I'll try to take some photos. You will see smoke inside the fire pit and occasionally a little bit of it might be visible, but for the most part what happens is the smoke rolls around. into the fire pit and will be burned before leaving the fire pit. One thing I forgot to mention that you know because people will probably complain now that the fire is too big, this wood is outside, it's covered in bark and yesterday it rained like a torrential downpour all day, so this wood isn't even that big. dry now, I mean it's been drying since they cut it for a long time, but like I said, it was just in the middle of a downpour yesterday, so it's not completely dry and you can see how well it works if you haven't seen the video original of building the smokeless fire pit or hanging patio lights around it, make sure you put audio lights around it, this guy is stupid and his impressions suck
