I've already used it on a couple of projects since then. Before this project, I had never heard of it. This is me, washing the doors with just soap and water. I went in with liquid sandpaper. I needed to get a close up of the grossest part of the kitchen because this is a cleaning, deep cleaning video. I was thrilled that the cabinets just needed a go over with soap and water to get all the dog out.
I remove the hair and the dirt and then I come back with the real sand, the liquid sandpaper, so I'm removing all the gross stuff that forced me to clean the

floor

s and that's vacuuming, so this saw got stuck in the floor please don't judge me on the bottom of this dishwasher so what I'm doing here is removing this kind of peel and stick on the baseboard that the cabinet had. All the cabinets in our house, including the bathrooms, had this in there for over 20 years. old so now they're pretty gross and I wanted to put something clean and new on, they're something that would attach to the trim on our house so I went ahead and removed that gross thing you're looking at it's the glue I use to stick it on I wouldn't say that you have to take everything out to paint the cabinet, but since we are tackling the entire kitchen, part of it was reorganizing, going through our things, donating what we no longer use, I really wanted to Trim and minimize what we have in the kitchen, but take everything out It's the best way I can organize things.
This is my husband joining in, he had been cleaning out the garage so we had a space to paint and we're going over. now and removing all the doors from the hinges and leaving all the hinges and all the hardware for them inside each cabinet so that we don't lose them later when we want to put them back in upgrade. the doors are dull and sticky we just thought about the drawers being removed we have decided we are going to try to remove this cabinet and hang a lamp here on top of this thing. I would have removed all these cabinets and made a complete open shelving unit with absolutely no cabinets, something that is still sacred but I can't open now it's time to go into every door and drawer with the liquid sander or we apply our first coat of primer now that everything is clean and removed, you're watching us go by with the liquid sandpaper.
I felt it was easier to do it with the doors off the hinges, so we waited until that point. We also labeled each door and drawer as we removed them with some masking tape. If you have a larger kitchen, this is a 100% unnecessary step so you can put the doors back in the right place to apply the liquid sandpaper. We use these green Scotch Brite scraper pads just so we can scrub them as best we can. The advice with the liquid is not to use too much, you don't want too much liquid on top, so I tried to wipe off the excess.
You can easily tell once it's dry, there is a little bit of residue, but the instructions say not to wipe it off. We removed it before

painting

, we removed some things from the kitchen so I'm filling the little holes with wood filler, I gave it time to dry and went back and sanded it later before painting and it looks like the holes never did. They were there. I'm going to give you another view that was not of our kitchen at this time. None of us have ever used a paint sprayer, but we are so excited that this is the ideal finish for the home. link it below I think it's a good deal if this is as easy as it looks then the hard work is done so this looks like your mom um the third primer arrives at about twenty two ninety nine we're using the mata the original low order interior primers the target jammer combo shouldn't suck so we're just going to put them in I'm ready this is the amount of time we've all been waiting for the most satisfying part of this process I was looking at spraying these doors for the first time, in fact, every time we sprayed the doors it was satisfying to watch, you can see, I'm putting little clips on my Instagram, if you don't follow me on Instagram, I like to post part of the process. with the projects before posting videos here, so I'll put a link to my Instagram below if you want to come there and get a little ahead of yourself.
I swear I had a very important role in this. I was the one holding the slack cable and yes, I have experience with this. I wouldn't say it's necessarily a two-person job to spray the cabinets with the sprayer, but it's definitely helpful to have someone make sure the wire doesn't come in. or touch any of the painted cabinets as the first room progresses, the primer is on, we are waiting for the doors to dry so we can turn them over and do the back. This has almost been dry long enough for us to paint the first one. actual coat of paint here, we need to apply two coats of paint here after the 30 primaries.
We've been working all day or just opening the professional classic. This is what we're using on the cabinets so this is what we're going to get two coats, it's called professional interior acrylic latex smooth enamel finish for interior trim and we're doing a satin finish. This is the end of the day, we end up getting the coat of primer and the first coat of paint on everyone. these lower cabinets, second day, painting cabinets, we are still cleaning up last night's mess with the paint sprayer, the bad thing is that I didn't research how to clean oil based paint and anyway it was worse, today is our five year wedding anniversary here's the kitchen and daylight so far it looks very different than it did, doesn't it?
I came down the stairs this morning and I already felt a different mood and vibe in the kitchen with you oh, we're sailing towards Mako, I'm I turn up the radio because now I'm with you you and I know that love is in the air like the wind that passes through your head. Well, everything was drying in the garage. I used that time to go through things and clean them up. Starting to put things back into the cabinet under the sink was definitely the messiest place. There were some spots that had been there that weren't coming out, which is fine, it's a lot cleaner than it was.
I also realize now that I have some paint in my hair. since yesterday, so it's good, these drawers were never used well, so one of the most important things for me was to organize them better and get more space in our kitchen drawers, which you will see later, so these are the first steps of the organization that exists. some things I need to finish and some things we will update, but the stores are still closed right now so I had no way to get them. I'll show a final walkthrough. and some organization tips in part 2 of this video, this is the front dry, we are about to turn them over and start our first coat of paint on the back, welcome to phase queues, today, phase two , we are addressing the floors. your shelves and this wall first let's cut out all the crap this is what i'm using to clean the floors the goal for tonight is to apply a coat of primer and a coat of paint so it can stay overnight luckily it's a day so cute, the door is open and I'm thinking that will help with the drying process.
You're probably questioning the fact that I'm painting the floor. I thought the worst that could happen is that we didn't do it. I liked it and we ended up having to put something over it like we would have already had to, so the floor in the kitchen is vinyl that is over 20 years old. I think it's called sheet vinyl. Maybe you've seen this done. on tiles, linoleum and other similar surfaces, so if you want to try it, I definitely recommend doing more research. I ended up leaving with a quart of primer, a gallon of porch and floor paint, and a quart of polyacrylic seal.
The most important part of painting your floors is the prep work. Comment below if you have ever tried to paint the floor or would ever try to paint it. Everything is taped together. It's time to mop the floor, but I'll spare you that. I'm just mopping every inch of the floor with the dirt cleaner and then I'll vacuum again and then we can start painting so here you can see my main is the same brand that I used on the cabinet, but I didn't. To make the oil base the first thing I did was go around with a brush and cut all the edges, honestly it was very quick and it was very satisfying to see since we had a sheet of vinyl, everything you see there is basically It's like It was painted on there, so there's a little bit of texture and I'll show you up close later, but it's not a mosaic, the grout isn't real, so when I painted over it it basically disappeared and you end up with something like that. of a texture, if you have tiles with grout, you will see the grout.
There are some really cool things you can do with floor paint. If you have the time and motivation, they sell templates online that you can review and basically submit too long to look like. You put down tile, but we ended up with almost a cement look just because of the color I chose and the texture we had on the floor and I really loved it, so it was pretty hard to keep the kids. and the dog out of this for the painting process I decided to just pass that on maybe next time or maybe in one of our small bathrooms or it's easier to keep people out of here, this is what a coat of primer looks like and I'm I'm going to use the rest of this up there it's not that exciting to me right now it just looks a little messy.
This is me taking advantage of the drying time and starting to sand the shelves. Oh yeah, because this is the second table, but look at these. knots Doesn't he look exactly like a sloth? These are officially our lazy shelves. This little sander I've had for at least five years and it just won't cut it anymore. I have a new one on the way, but it still wasn't here once it arrived. I'm going to go back and check the shelves again in the second part of this video. It looks dry. Actually, I haven't. It actually feels totally dry. It's crazy.
Someone pointed out that this is some kind of llama, so comment below yes. Do you think this is a sloth or llama show? I wore some socks to do this just because I felt like my shoes would be too rough and if my socks leave any kind of print for any reason you're pretty. imperceptible and doesn't smell anything different here no paint fumes at all the paint I chose for the floor is a Valspar porch and floor paint. I researched other options but they were not easy for me to obtain. So this is what I had.
There are options that you can dye with the colors you want. This was one that already existed. composed, it is in light gray. I'll be honest, it dries darker than I expected, so I'm a little nervous that I won't like it. I don't think I can hate it as much as I hated the floor before this in the morning we'll wake up and paint again my camera is about to run out of battery and we're about to go buy something from the Facebook marketplace. I'm going to put on a coat. the top to dry while we are gone and then the only thing that will be left will be the polyethylene seal on top.
Wow, that's still dry and we're going to try a little patch of the dye I bought for the shells. It's supposed to make it a little whiter. I don't know about this. I don't think it makes any difference. This is an IKEA piece that we picked up from the Facebook marketplace. My camera lost the footage of me taking it apart. I already checked. This I removed both shelves. I fixed the problem on the back. There is a small broken piece here. We'll probably add a piece back here just to give it some extra support. You know, this will be the back part.
I can see it fully assembled. I'm so excited, one, two, three, probably three bar stools down, it's like seven or eight at night. I've been sanding, it feels like I'm trying to get the top I wanted to see all day. If I could just get a light wood and seal it and leave it like that because we're going to go ahead and paint the whole background, you can see the difference maybe not as much on camera. I hope you can, it's been a lot of work between the light wood top and this yellowish seal that comes on this.
I was trying to remove the yellow, that was my goal was to remove as much of the yellow. I didn't take a break. I ended up painting this very quickly. It was like 9 at night but I wanted to finish it. We waited a few days for it to dry and for the seal on the floor to dry as well before moving it here, so now I'm going to go into this wall. I wanted to give it a bit of texture and I'm a big fan of peel and stick wallpaper, it can totally change your room and is so affordable.
I found this wallpaper at Target, it was super simple for me to do it myself and probably took me an hour, you can see here. I'm cutting the little patch out but one of the roles I bought was defective so they are sending me another one to finish this project so for now I only made the top part of the It's time to reveal our first part because not everything is done , but I wanted to show you the progress we've made so far and I'll point out later the things that will come up in part two.
Here's a reminder of the rough shape of the cabinets and what the floor looked like. The first thing I want to talk about is this floor. I was very skeptical as I'm sure we lived with it for a couple of days before we ended up sealing it using the polyacrylic to seal it gave it a more finished feel, it feels like our floor would feel sooner if they made it a little slippery or So, it actually feels like a kitchen floor again before it was almost sticky when the kids ran on it. We have now spilled things that the dog walked over and so far I haven't seen any damage to the floor.
I will report back in a few months if you want to see more about it, all I will say is because it is a lighter color now you can see things in there easily, like our dog's hair or just little crumbs all over the kitchen, the cabinets turned out so beautiful which make the room much brighter, the changes are completely honest, if you're wondering if painting your cabinets or whether that's rolling it or spraying it will make the biggest difference and I want to encourage you to do it. These posts also make it feel much more modern here.
I found them on Amazon and they were about $20 for a pack of 20. In the second part of the video, as you can see, the wallpaper is not finished and our coffee nook is not finished here. We are putting in a small unit to convert into a coffee station. We'll put the ninja there. We have a lot. This detail work to do, like finishing some of the molding and patching some holes over the sink, is a pretty obvious place we need to work on, we plan on getting a wall sconce, we're going to have to move the wire up with shelves.
I need to go back through and Reese and they seal them and actually screw them to the brackets. I will also sand this table and seal it. Part two will also include new countertops and a new sink, so if you want to see the full reveal. and tutorial, hit subscribe, like this video and comment below your favorite part, happy cleaning.
