DIY Dollar Tree Glam Centerpiece | DIY Dollar Tree Glam Tray/Candle Holder

Jun 07, 2021
Hello everyone and welcome back to my channel in this DIY. I will be creating something really unique and different. I hope you appreciate it, so let's get started first. I actually have two packages of these round floral foams from Dollar Tree. Now I have this package. They opened up and unfortunately they are two different sizes so luckily I only need one from this package and from this package these two appear to be the same size but we'll find out well so the first thing I want to do is glue these two pieces together. and here I have a

dollar

tree

arrangement that I will use now.

I'm going to use this popsicle stick to spread the glue on the surface of the foam, so what I want to do is go ahead and put the two pieces together and make sure that they're as even as possible, we're going to go ahead and put these two together. with masking tape to make sure that you get a very good connection between the two pieces, okay, so take the larger size because this is more like this, so I'm going to to take both pieces, spray paint them silver, let them dry for complete. I also have this piece from Dollar Tree and I'll leave the bias in the info section below the video so I'm going to spray paint the silver as well.

Okay, I went. I went ahead and spray painted the other silver piece. This is the spray paint that I used and here I have three of the

dollar

tree

elephants and I'm going to spray paint them completely silver as well, so okay, I'm back and as you can. look I have painted my entire foam piece silver and here is the single foam and on this one I already started applying a mixture of mod podge and glitter and the reason I do it is because I want to Be really blind, I plan to use some glitter on it and as you know you can see through the glitter so by applying the glitter on the background it will be more attractive.

I always prefer to use the shiny mod podge and here you can see. It's more like a thick frosting consistency. I brushed the mixture on the outside of both pieces and on the edge of each side and then I'll stick some mirrors from Dollar Tree on top and they don't cover the foam completely so I'm doing this step again here are the mirrors I'll use there from the Dollar Tree so I'm going to remove the feet and the sticker from the four mirrors and I'm using four mirrors because I'm going to glue one mirror on each side of both foam pieces now before I used dollar tree setting glue instead of the e6000 because I felt like the e6000 would melt the phone, but it seemed to hold up pretty well, so here I'm going to try the e6000 because I want a really good connection between the mirror and the foam, I also use a little hot glue to make an instant bow and Guess what, everything held up perfectly.

Now I'm using these round pieces as bases and they need to be very strong, so I'm adding the mirrors to them and the mirrors will make them really sturdy and that's what I need to make this creation work. I'm done adding mirrors to both sides of this base. Now I'll add the second mirror to this base. the glue sets on those pieces. I'm going to add the mod podge and glitter mix to my elephants. I will not put any of the mixture on the back of the elephants, although I will apply the mixture on the other two elephants. too and then let the three dry, but yes, I have made the three elephants.
I didn't put any of the mixture here because this is where I'm going to put the glue, so now I'm going to place my elephants in three. I didn't measure different angles to make sure they were the same distance apart, but I'm very happy with how it looks. What I want to do is sit right on top of my elephants and I want it to be level now. I'm looking under the base to see exactly where I need to add the glue on the elephants. I see where the deck touches, like up here, so I'm going to go in with some e6000 because I haven't found my gorilla glue yet.
One of my subscribers said that Misty, my cat, took the glue because it's always here on my craft desk. I swear you want to craft, so I'm going to put a little more glue than I need on each elephant to make sure I got a really good connection to the base after I finished adding the glue to the back of the elephants. I made sure the base was centered and had a very good connection to the back of each elephant. I used a popsicle stick to remove some of the glue see the step okay so you won't be able to see this part but when you're doing the DIY you'll be able to see it so what I'm going to do is take my glue gun and I'm going to put a little glue right under where the mirror touches the elephant to reinforce it.
Now you can wait until this glue sets and turn it over and I'll show you later, but now I'm going to go ahead and reinforce it. so like I said later, I'm going to turn this over and let you guys see what it looks like, so the next thing I want to do is make sure it's clean. Then I will glue this piece to the base. I made sure. which was centered now very carefully, I'm going to glue this dollar tree

candle

holder

on top. I used a leveler to make sure it was completely level and then let it dry overnight.
Okay everyone, I'm back, this has been set up for about 12 hours, so what I want to do now is turn this around completely. The reason I put the mirror here is because I also wanted a solid piece to hold my elephants because the way I do it, you can also add a piece of wood or something. on the bottom but I felt like over time the styrofoam would separate from the elephant so I decided to go ahead and add the mirrors to the bottom and I will put e6000 on both sides of the popsicle stick once I glued it to the elephant and one side will stick to the base.
I have a wedge underneath like this to fill that blank space. Well, I have embarrassed all my elephants on each side. There is now a small open space just behind the elephant's head in the Styrofoam. I'm going to reinforce that with a little bit of hot glue and you don't have to worry about this because it's going to be on the bottom and I'm also going to add a little bit of hot glue behind the wedge and I'm doing this. because this is the base and you want the base to be sturdy, so once you're done, just go ahead and flip it over.
I went ahead and cleaned the bottom of this piece and also cleaned the inside and top. of this chandelier, so naturally I'm going to glue this on top and then center this piece if necessary, you can flip the whole thing over to make sure it's centered. I've got some glue everywhere and I'll need to clean it up after it dries, but yeah, go ahead and center it, flip it over, put some weight on it and then I'll come back. This is pretty safe, so I can go ahead and start doing other things, so one of the things.
What I did was I took a row of jewels and placed it around the size of this mirror because there is a green color on the outside of the mirror as you can see here and I just wanted to cover that and I also had one over a little bit with some glitter and my pod mix, I put it around this mirror just below here and then I'm going to put a little bit here as well on all sides, as you can see, it's also here and again here. and it is thus padded on the sides of the elephants.
Here I have what I call box bling and in the center it is cut like it has little diamonds. um, I also have this type and I'll be able to leave a link. for this particular guy it came from a

glam

cake ribbon and I'll leave this bias in the comments below the normal bling, you can put it on the side like this, I'll just put glue on your hot glue right in the center, carefully, place it there now. Do the same on this side, okay, now I have the entire outline of each elephant. Now I'm going to go ahead and add some decorations to my elephants.
Here is the elephant I made earlier and I will leave a link. next so you can see this DIY so I want to make a hair salon here I use some bright flowers four of these diamond shaped ones would be cute or you can use the same ones I use as quilts but I think I like this one in particular it's better on the head like this and I did it to the three elephants and then come on, take a strip of jewelry and place it on the top of the trunk. Okay, like this, I put two rows of jewelry around the ankles. um I might put one on the back I don't know maybe one okay everyone I'm back and let me apologize for this video being a little long but sometimes it will take longer videos for me to explain in depth how to do it. recreate my creations so off camera I went ahead and put some glitter around the neck of this chandelier and it's only five rolls of glitter for the base.
I can also use some glitter wrap, but instead I'm going to use a mirror towel and Here I'm showing a mirror towel, so I want it more, so I'm just going to show you exactly what it's going to look like on one side. The mirror towel comes with adhesive on the back. I always use a little bit. to fix everything so that it sticks permanently to the top of my

tray

. I was originally going to use one of these clear dollar tree plates, but instead I decided to use this 12 inch mirror I found at the salvation army.
I bought three of these last year and thought I'd go ahead and use one. I think I paid like two dollars each, but you can also find them at Michaels, but before I glue them on, I'm going to go ahead and finish adding some decorations. to my piece, so now I have finished adding glitter around the top to make this part brighter. I'm going to apply a little bit of the mod podge and glitter mixture here, you can see right around the mirror that there is some of the styrofoam still exposed now I can easily take a strip of glitter wrap and stick it there to cover it up, but I'm going to use these dollar tree diamond shaped gems, just like that, you want to make sure the gems are touching, as you can see, I'm done gluing the gems in place and I think they complement the piece very, very well, as shown indicated previously.
I'm going to go ahead and apply the mod podge and glitter mixture to this part. I'm done putting. I put glitter in my pocket and now I let it dry. I decided to go ahead and add some glitter to the ears like I did on the elephant I showed you at the beginning of the video. I used the mod podge and glitter mix I already had. and I brushed it on the ears and then sprinkled the glitter over the mixture, but you can use this regular mod podge. Now I thought about adding the extra glitter on the ears at the last minute, but do this in advance, remember you can wear one. of these clear plates from Dollar Tree and you'll be able to see the mirror I glued through the plate again.
I placed the mirror on top of the base so I would have something really solid to stick it to instead of just the foam. Well I decided to use this mirror and I want to put some chandelier charms hanging from it so I have some square beads and I bought them from Michaels Dollar Tree. Sells square beads. They are also white with colored initials, but you can paint them. any color you want when I want to hang glass chandelier pendants I always use these beads as my little creation so what you want to do is take one of these little leather beads again a square bead and stick it to the glass. and luckily for this part of the DIY I have a little bit more of my favorite glue, my gorilla clear grip glue, so what I'm going to do is put a little bit on my bead and put it this way, so I'm going to put it where the opening is on each side like this okay sorry I ran out of memory on my other card so I had to get a new one so what I'm doing is sticking them directly in front of each other so now I'm going to turn it. this way and I put two directly in front of each other.
Now I'm just going to hang a few pins from this. I could put more if I want. I can actually come back later and add more, but instead of letting them dry on their own. I'm going to add tape to the beads to hold them in place while they dry. I'm going to let them dry for at least 24 hours because I don't want the weight of my pendants to take off the beads. Okay everyone, I'm back. It's been 24 hours and as you can see I've already placed some of my chandelier pendants. This is what I will use.
These cute prison cut bowls I bought, I think from Banggood. I'll try to link them from Amazon if I can below, here I have some of the crystal garland and I'm just going to place it here and remove the tape, then open it right here. You can see where I test the account. You can see the initial to cover. the initial one I'm going to glue rhinestones on top, I put gorilla glue around the mirror and then I put the larger mirror on top after centering it, I put a little weight on it and let it sit overnight, this is the next day and The glue dried completely.
I put it on this plate and it's really beautiful, but I wasn't completely satisfied so I decided to add some lights to it. You guys have seen me do this a million times. All they have to do is keep the lights off. and put a drop of hot glue on the wire, let it dry, continue repeating those steps while wrapping thewire. I'll continue gluing the string lights off the camera and then come back when I'm done, however you can. Look, I'm done adding the lights and lowered them so you can actually see the string lights. Now I will put this on display and let you see what it looks like and here is my finished

centerpiece

and I think it is absolutely stunning when I first thought of this project, it was going to be a

candle

holder

and then I thought about turning it into a two or three tier

tray

, but I finally decided to make it a

centerpiece

, but you can still use it as a tray. a cake or cupcakes or almost anything you want, you can use it as a display stand or even a candle holder, however you decide to use it, it's totally up to you, okay everyone, that concludes my DIY.
