, Sam, such a beloved member of the KTLA family who is there on a daily

long

shift they do for about 5 hours in the morning, so you know he is there. early and early and, for the last 20-odd years, he has been a member of our family, many through the Today's Show and

today

. but whenever the big stories broke, Sam was our go-to guy in Hollywood and he was like the pros. Pro, you know, it was never about him, you know, he would always focus on the star, the artist, whatever it was, if he was on the red carpet there he was doing a thorough and totally professional job, you know, and Sam and I used to be in touch almost daily, sending each other little notes, you know, great work with the critics.

show

. We chatted and it was fantastic, we were talking about our plans to see Kylie at Las Vagas and Nicole Kidman receiving her big award there and Sam was very generous and those beautiful people that he works with, they're going to be absolutely gutted today, obviously, he brought. this immense knowledge of the entertainment industry, but he also brought this immense warmth, Dicky, yes, it was TR, well, you just trusted Sam, you know, and yes, he was energetic, he was passionate, he loved the industry, he loved everything about it , loved his job broadcasting.

He loved his family, spoke fondly of his wife and children. I never met any of them, but he always spoke kindly and, if he came out, he was due to come here at the end of this month to do some things for Destination New South Wales. He had a great affinity with Australia and was very well-liked here and um, and he was Mr. Entertainment in Hollywood and um, it's a very, very, very sad day. We miss that ringing phone.
