Compared! New 717 HP Dodge Challenger Hellcat vs 797 HP Redeye Slug Fest Review

Jun 04, 2021
Hi Nathan, one of those two

challenger

s behind you, it's a great day to be alive because we have the Challenger Hellcat and the Challenger Redeye. This is the truth between them, there is a lot of difference in horsepower and, as you can see, a little bit of width. difference, you know there's only one way to find out, let's really take it for a spin. I can't wait, those tires are too skinny 275 it's kind of funny. I prefer the look of the one without the blistered sides. Do you like the narrow? Traditional Hellcat you can't get the power to the ground so you have to get the wide body if you want that serious power to the ground because this one makes more power than the last one, yes I know, and the last one surpassed the power very easily. it overcame the tires so easily the new one overtakes the tires like there again it's an interesting vehicle you know it's like a double XL guy with size I don't know six shoes it's really strange yeah it's uncomfortable in that sense because you can just feel that the rear end wants to come out every time you lower the power, I even want to say that we are going with a pretty good pace at the moment and under the power.

I feel like the rear end is like it wants to go out to the Arrow if we're on the wide body it wouldn't have that feeling at all and frankly I think the white body actually rides Ben Nathan so we have two supercharged Hemis on these two letters, what is the difference between right eye and healthcare? Oh, they are actually very different engines, so starting with the Hellcat, which by the way is orange, so it's an easy way to tell the difference. It's actually the same engine as before, basically, however it breathes better and as such has better horsepower. noticeably better, 10 more horsepower, making 717 horsepower and 695 pound-feet of torque.

Check this out, it makes a lot more power, so it's basically a detuned demon engine that's in this vehicle, so the larger supercharger sucks in a lot more air. it gets a lot more horsepower, check this out, 797 horsepower and 707 pound-feet of torque, how about the transmissions? What can you get in each ha? So if you want the manual transmission you can only get it on the Hellcat, you can get it with the regular body. or the wide body, however if you want this manual vehicle, sorry it can't happen, only the automatic HP is available with red eyes, okay Nathan, now we are on red eyes, yes, and there is already a big difference between the two.

When we started it up, it sounded deeper and throatier, although from what I understand the exhausts are basically the same, so Nathan, what do you think sounds better? It's a very good question with the red eye, it doesn't let you speed up at all. so much and I think it's either because of the engine and the way it's designed or because it's a demonic engine under there and they don't want you to rev it too much because of the pistons and connecting rods and all the other things I don't know. it could be something like that but it definitely won't let you accelerate as much as the Hellcat, yeah I'm going to go with it, it's the stepson of the devil and the Hellcat, it's a darling boy, you don't know that, that's what I was thinking. that's in my head, but we didn't drive back and forth, you know what the difference is from the beginning, you know it's just driving the Bullitt Mustang, huh, and that's a lovely 20 horsepower mortgage, what's that does it seem a little taller? maybe for our new program you are right, when you step on this one there is a feeling that the power will hit the ground and that burnt rubber, yes, yes, so the wide body makes sense but there is also an immediacy to it.

It really feels like everything starts immediately now, the subtle difference I've noticed between the one we have at home, which is a regular healthcare service, and this one seems to accelerate a little faster, rather than why. Yes, there really is a delay on the supercharger, but this one seems to be more immediate than good. I agree with you and what they were saying is that this is a much bigger supercharger and it sucks in a lot more air, it's a demon from the researchers, yes. it's so basically and well you know we're talking about an engine that is for the most part a detuned demon, based on what they were saying, which made a little bit of sense, why don't you turn off the exact same horsepower demon first? of all you have to use race gas to get the 840 which is in hell that's one reason the other reason was interesting and I think what they were hinting at is the overall reliability of being able to drive the car in a day For The daily amount amounts to flying at the limit, this thing requires a lot of air, a lot of fuel, right, but the good thing about it is that when you're cruising like now at 50 miles an hour, you're ahead of 1200 rpm and you get 17 mpg.
Nathan, let's talk price because they actually dropped the price of the Hellcat by $5,000 for 2019, so the gray car now starts at just under $60,000 if you want to go with the wide body kit, bigger wheels, and fenders that will cost you six thousand dollars more and if you want to go red eye, that's another 11 thousand dollars, so there's a seventeen thousand dollar premium to go from a basic Hellcat to a red eye plus all the goodies you put on top of it, which means That white is a red eye that cost eighty-eight thousand dollars, okay, Roman, what do you get for an extra $17,000?
I've got the numbers here Nathan, let's start with the Hellcat, the quarter mile time without a wide body is eleven point two seconds at 125 miles per hour. top speed 199 the right eye eleven point one second quarter mile 131 miles per hour 203 top speed so you get a little more top speed now let's talk about the white body of the Hellcat that goes a quarter mile in ten point nine seconds at 127 miles per hour with a top speed of 190 5 mph, now the red-eye wide body does the same quarter mile and gets ten point eight or 0.1 seconds faster at a top speed of 131 miles per hour 203, so for 17K you get a little bit more top speed and a point a second faster in the quarter mile according to our friends at FC, well buddy that's important, that's important, it's like how long it would take me to put on the sunglasses and that's the difference between winning and losing like cars like muscle cars, right, the Mustang, the Challenger, which hums, of course, and the Camaro, this one is by far the most comfortable, It has the biggest one and right there's so much more you can do with it, you can take this car on a road trip I mean you couldn't go on a road trip in a Mustang or Camaro but this is the one I I would choose because you could put three passengers in the back.
I can put my kids in there comfortably, it actually has a real trunk. the seats fold down, I mean it's a pony car, sure, but it's actually a large sedan too and I think that's why this stroller is still selling because let's face it. Mustang has had two major updates in the time this thing has had one. facelift: in comparison, yeah, yeah, and you know Camaro has become the sports car, this is definitely the muscle car, right, this is the car that you would want to take to the quarter mile drag strip. Camaro is the one you probably want to take on. a race track and the Mustang, which for me is a kind of Grand Tour, especially the GT, yes, we all have different opinions about this vehicle, but I think you and I agree on one thing: our own money, this It's the cart again, you know, we bought this. one and I think it's a testament to why this thing is still selling, even the missing chassis, you know, it's pretty old, it just dates back to when Dodge was owned by Mercedes, yeah, you got a, yeah, you gotta give it a lot of credit .
They took a platform, expanded it, and found new ways to use it just like they did with Ram trucks and like they did with Jeep, so design it right, that's pretty much all the new hood design, which is important for performance. Some people like it, some don't. I don't like it I love it it looks like cleavage and the other thing is the red eyes on Kitty the hell kitty, if you get the red eye version her eyes are red so if you want you can take nail polish and put it on your beam your own Hellcat to make your own Hellcat, red eyed friend, those are not boobies, they are air intakes on the hood, they look like some kind of walrus nose, if you ask me, tomato tomahto, yes, we drove this car before here, which is about a hundred miles away yeah and it was a piece of cake and I actually still think the wide body rides better than the regular wide so you're getting a car that has more horsepower than about the 90 % of vehicles built like the Lamborghini Aventador.
I would say it's a bargain, yes I agree, I think that's what makes this car so relevant today. You give it almost the internal horsepower of a North Bauer car and then don't have to take it to a mechanic whose last name ends in Luigi and charges $5 an hour? To get that extra power, that extra performance right, and the crazy thing is you can put this on the track right now, change the setup to a track setup and have this handle almost a single blade in the corners, to be fair. Okay, to be fair, you could say this is a drag strip car.
Paul took the best e we have in the office around our track, which is definitely a small go-kart track, as it's definitely not a be able to try it almost at the same time. that he took our Hellcat around the track, these cars are like hippos in ballerina shoes, yes, but this is a much fitter hippo in ballerina shoes because it has wider wheels, you have a rubberier heel. I went to the gym. I'm telling you this design drive the whale drive your car oh no I don't doubt it yeah no I agree I agree but you know you still have a huge scene yeah which makes it a great Cross country touring also does great on the track. you know who Trombetta says no he's a Steeler they called the bus okay and he really wasn't cut out to be one.
You know, the guy who moves between players to get a touchdown, but I got a lot of touchdowns, you know, because he had a big body, strong legs, little feet, and he was able to go through people. These are ballerina shoes. Just this has that feel to it guys, what a Hellcat is known for in this case, there's only one thing anymore and that would be a burnout, so let's see this bad boy do a Burnout ready, so Nathan, for your money, Would you pay $17,000 more to upgrade from a Hellcat to a Right? I know but I would pay $6,000 more for you to get the wide body but not the right eye that's why the Hellcat gives you a manual transmission option yeah I can see you know we have healthcare in the office and we pay a lot more of what these cost new, so I guess the lesson here is that FCA and Dodge will always build more Hellcats. don't be the first to buy one, no no, don't pay the margin please As always Roman and Nathan say thanks for watching and check out TfL's car communication for more real world news views and

Hellcat versus red eyes, it's not a red eye Hellcat, it doesn't matter, we're going to drive and what do we have to do, although if you're still looking, I think it skips a lot. My lord mom, I love this car.
