Chronicles of Reddit [Vol. 2]

Jun 03, 2021
430 million monthly active Reddit users worldwide as of December 2019, a figure of this magnitude has effectively cemented the site as one of the most used of all time and with that comes an incomprehensible melting pot of post topics spanning almost everything. Anything I can think of, however, there is a dark side, the hidden corner of websites that host the strangest mystery stories and true crime cases, it's safe to say I've wasted an embarrassing amount of my life reading threads on this category, but hey, I guess that just happens when you're fascinated by something, what can you do?
chronicles of reddit vol 2

It's volume 2, so if you missed the pilot episode, be sure to watch it when you're done with this one without further ado, get comfortable because tonight we're diving into three more strange discoveries that have baffled me from

chronicles of reddit vol 2...

He received a text message from her containing only these three photos. Does anyone recognize the location shown in these photos? I worked at a lab that makes prescription eyeglasses in northern Ohio last week, on Wednesday, about six hours into our 10-hour shift, a co-worker hurriedly got up from his station, left his bag of personal belongings in his desk and walked out the door. and he didn't come back, no one saw him since some of my other coworkers thought he was just fed up with the long hours and decided to quit, but that doesn't make sense, why leave his personal belongings and not say anything?

We tried to call. him those same nights, but his phone just rang until he went to voicemail and the next morning his phone was off. My boss said he contacted his mother and she hadn't seen him or heard from him, but he didn't. She seems overly concerned since she said that he had a history of living a somewhat nomadic lifestyle in his past. She thinks he may have relapsed and owed someone money or simply run off with some girl. Apparently they aren't very close and don't have the best relationship, I know he had a history of drug abuse, but from everything I've gathered in the two years I've worked with him, he cleaned up his life after an arrest in 2014 or 2015 for drug possession and had been clean since He always acted normal around me and seemed to be living a productive life in the subject of photos.

A couple of days ago after work, I received a group text from two of my other coworkers and six other numbers that I didn't recognize was from him and it contained the three photos I linked without text. I tried calling and it rang once and then went to voicemail when I called again it went straight to voicemail. All this makes me very uncomfortable and I don't know what. To think, does anyone here recognize the location where these photos may have been taken as noted below? This was a link to an Imgur album containing the photos that are below, so we have three images in strange locations with very apparent movement. distortion looks like whoever took them must have been trying to shoot him on the fly and most likely could have been trying to be discreet about it, camera flash aside, now I know the first thing that probably comes to mind here is the potential of exif.
The data embedded in these photos and considering the fact that they provide critical information including GPS location, extracting this from the image and tracking your friend should be quite easy, right and wrong, unfortunately some others have realized this and they suggested looking into it though. Op's attempts to do so yielded nothing usable other than this, not only were the images that were uploaded to the album on Emger not the original photos from the camera that took them, but the websites and potentially the messaging app that both they used. Most likely you deleted the output data from the files, making this angle of attack useless.
A couple of hours after this threat was made, a redditor named zepazuzu would ask if the police were notified, to which Soothes responded saying that's what my boss contacted his mom said she would give him some time before doing something like that because she is absolutely convinced that he is fine and left of his own free will. Your lack of concern is a little mind boggling, to be honest, if my son got up and walked away leaving behind a bag of personal belongings I would contact the police ASAP we talked about calling the police ourselves but my boss finally said that it wasn't our place as they don't know us and that should be left to his family, I'm not sure about you but this seems a bit out of place, I don't doubt it alleviates the claims here, however leaving his alone mother with the sole authority to file missing person reports or contact the police I find it a little strange personally if a friend or coworker were to up and disappear after leaving all their personal belongings behind like they had, red flags would go up everywhere if I were them I would submit a report anyway in the sea of speculation and theories below this post, two users maxilla the destroyer and mashed potatoes would submit almost identical theories that stand out from the rest for their brevity.
We'll just take a look at the Mesh one. My phone has a feature where if I press the lock button three times very quickly, it will send a series of three. photos to any contact I have approved, the phone I just got will send three from the front camera, three from the back and I think a couple seconds of audio recording is for emergency situations, my old phone would send only three from the front camera, is it possible? This is what is happening now. This is a contender I'm willing to get behind considering the fact that Sooth and a few others receive these three photos together if we assume his coworker uses the potentially built-in SOS feature. on their smartphone, then it leaves the door open to only two options: either they are completely fine and did it by accident or they were/are legitimately in trouble and needed help, but that takes us right back to the root of this mystery regardless. of what happened, Calma, unfortunately, never followed up with an update on whether they ever returned, whether a report was ultimately filed, or whether they were ever contacted, leaving the door open to this conundrum for speculation if you or someone you know recognizes these points. of northern Ohio, leave a comment, it's a long shot, but maybe we can help calm your new dilemma while we help get your friend home, stop legal advice, a place to ask simple legal questions and to get you explain legal concepts on the morning of On February 7, 2017, a redditor named babyblue17 would join the conversation explaining and asking about an unfortunate dilemma they found themselves involved in in their post titled I'm pregnant being investigated by DCS and read the following Hello, I am 29 years old, happily married, my husband and I are college educated, have stable respectable jobs and donated a house in a nice neighborhood.
Basically we are as ready as anyone can be to start a family. I am almost nine months pregnant with our first child. The problem is that 11 years ago, when my husband was a freshman in college, he was arrested for possession of marijuana, it was a large enough amount to charge him with a class d felony, but without intent to negotiate, pleaded guilty and served his sentence on probation without a problem passing all the drug tests along the way he hasn't touched marijuana since and we rarely drink I have no criminal record and have never done drugs it was a stupid mistake that he committed when he was a foolish 18 year old and has worked hard to put it behind him, someone apparently contacted child services in our area and informed them that we are drug users.
This allegation is being taken very seriously due to my husband's history. We have cooperated as much as possible with our caseworker. We have been interviewed. The house has been examined and nothing remotely suspicious or incriminating was found. We both took a drug test and passed it. Our caseworker says everything seems to be going well so far. Unfortunately, he also says there is still a chance our child could be taken from us during birth. and delivery room and that we will not be allowed to take her home. I was devastated and horrified to hear that when I asked him why he said it wasn't up to her and that we would have to wait and see, which made absolutely no sense. da, I feel like there's something she's not telling me, but I have no experience with DCS and I'm not aware of anything we may have done wrong.
I know they will have to drug test my daughter once she is born, but she has not been exposed to drugs, nothing more than prenatal vitamins, not even tylenol, and I have already proven that by passing a drug test I am scared and confused. I need a lawyer? I had anticipated spending our savings on our new daughter and our parents. Go away, but I'll use that money for a lawyer if I have to. Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for your help. Clearly, the actions taken so far by the caseworker are cause for alarm upon receiving word that you are being investigated and you may not be.
Being able to keep your newborn child would give anyone a feeling of overwhelming anxiety, thankfully commenters were quick to offer several tips and ideas on how you can handle this, get a family law attorney on retainer, maybe contact the local chapter of the ACLU at this time. The reaction is pretty extreme and the fact that someone tipped them when you're obviously not using is pretty malicious. Another Redditor named Sudsworthy raised the possibility that the caseworker was potentially complicit by working with whoever he made the report. However, others had their reservations about the validity of all this research.
They come from a user named hurry up, meow who claimed he was a former CPS investigator at the operations data residence. I am a former cps investigator and evaluator from indiana. Something here doesn't make any sense unless the law has changed a lot in the last few years when I left the department like right now you are pregnant, right, you don't have children, they are investigating the fetus, to which op responded by saying yes, no We have children, but they are still investigating the fetus. I didn't know that was something they could do. The report they received must have been quite alarming.
I guess it seemed strange to me too. The rest of the comments, understandably, were incredibly sketchy. That this was happening. It was strongly recommended that they stop contacting this particular caseworker and contact DCS. supervisor directly in the hope that through them they could get some answers about this, so the operation went silent for a while, hours turned into days and the thread began to lose a bit of steam, as it always did. They do, hopefully, everything was fine, so on February 21, 2017. Here is my original post when I made it they recommended that I find a lawyer immediately.
I was also informed that Indiana DCS does not investigate pregnant women who do not yet have children and that the woman claiming to be a social worker could be an imposter. We contacted and met with a lawyer and explained the situation. He seemed to agree that something was very suspicious, to make a long story short. The woman handling our case has no affiliation with ECS. I'm still in complete shock. We went directly to the police. and they are taking this very seriously. I can't give many details because it's an ongoing investigation, but she appears to have been a very skilled and well-researched liar.
I never would have known something was wrong without the advice of this subreddit. and my lawyer's intervention I feel like a complete idiot but the instinct to cooperate when faced with an intimidating authority figure is strong. I haven't had the baby yet and we will stay at the house of a trusted relative until the baby is born. ob and the hospital to which we will deliver ants nowThey have been informed of the situation and we will take appropriate security measures. I'm still freaking out, but we are taking every precaution for my son's safety and I hope everything turns out well. it turned out well, thanks again everyone, really the abduction of a newborn is something unfathomable to me, however, after reading this and researching it, I now know that it is a thing, imagine that the statistics are also interesting according to an article done by kvue in austin, texas from From 1964 to October 2019, 327 children under the age of 1 had been abducted in the US.
Of the 327 who were abducted, 257 of them were abducted by women of childbearing age between 14 and 39 years, a nurse or healthcare worker would be more likely to remove a child from a healthcare setting, while a relative or nanny friend would be more likely to remove a baby from a home if the operation had not raised their suspicions, so who knows what the next step the attempted kidnapper would have taken, maybe they would have tried to get him. Someone posing as a nurse and coming face to face with surgery in the recovery room to kidnap your child may seem like a long shot, but if they were so dedicated to pursuing a bogus DCS case against baby blues and even went out to inspect your house, then I wouldn't doubt that they would also pull a stunt like this to understandably. disturbing things that have been shared there.
I'm sure it would make a great personal story one day, but to be honest, if I were them, I'd be happy to just forget about it, so our last stop, our relationships, is where you go for advice on your relationships. Monday May 23, 2016, a Redditor named Losing My Mind 5 would. Share a story about what they believed was their husband spying on them when he's not home Considering the post received over 6,000 likes and nearly 1.5,000 comments in just five months, it's safe to assume their story shocked some people . Deleted now, however, fortunately there are files to remedy situations like this and it reads as follows: My husband Henry and I have been married for almost two years, for five we have had a fairly normal relationship and have always felt that we share a mutual trust in each other.
We've never broken up and I can't think of a situation where he feels like I'm not trustworthy. I feel like I'm going crazy from this. Henry's career usually requires him to travel rarely, but this year is an exception. His company is in the middle of a reorganization and he has been traveling to conduct training seminars about once a month. His trips are usually from Monday to Sunday. I have confirmed these trips and yes, they are legitimate. I'd say we've been handling it well. but in recent months my husband has been doing strange things that have made me believe that he is spying on me or showing controlling tendencies.
The first incident was at the end of March when my husband came home and asked me how my friend was doing with the death of his dog at first I said I was sad but he was fine about a minute later I asked him how he knew that and he said social media the only reason I asked was because I was on a phone call in the living room with my friend when the dog died and not only that, but my friend had disabled her page before the dog died, so which would not have been there.
I'm the only mutual friend he had with her so I don't think he saw anything she was tagged with I asked him if he was looking at me as a joke and he said seriously why do you think I explained it and he said no it was on social media I just assumed he was defensive because he was jet lagged the second incident was in April when I was out with my friends over the weekend on Saturday nights I texted him saying I would let him know when was home and it should be around 12:30 a.m. m.
I got home earlier, around 11 p.m. m., and I fiddled around in the kitchen for probably 20 minutes, I admit, I forgot to text him. I got a text around 11:20 saying you're home. I told him yes, he was fixing the kitchen and then I was going to bed. I asked him how he knew and he simply told me. I thought you would be already. He said good night to me and I went to bed normally. I wouldn't think anything of this, but this latest incident has been on my mind for the past few months. Henry arrived home early from this month's trip on Friday.
I was super. excited because he doesn't have a trip until September when he got home he asked me what I had been doing all week I explained all my activities when he said do you have any friends with you I said no and he said oh really I said yes and then That time I was really confused because I didn't really have any friends because he just huffed and stormed off again. I assumed he was tired. I went to the room and asked him if he was okay and he said he would be arriving later that night.
We were talking about my week and I mentioned that my brother left some photo albums of my father who passed away and then I wanted to show him something. Henry said, "Oh, your brother was here, he's fine, and then he muttered that he makes sense as he walked away." very good hearing and I don't think he thought I would hear him if he had a camera. Is it possible that he heard a male voice and assumed he was another friend? My brother didn't come into the house, but we talked on the porch with the door open.
I feel crazy just writing this Sunday because he was at his mother's house. I decided to try to look around me. I didn't want to be too obvious, so I just walked around nonchalantly looking at things. accidentally knocking things over and looking at them when I picked it up, etc. I'm sure it was obvious because I got a call from him asking me what I was doing, I told him I was just hanging out and he said I was doing what I told him I was watching. TV, I had the TV on there was a pause and he said I'm leaving soon I'll be home in 20 minutes I was supposed to be there for three hours more someone tells me I'm exaggerating and this isn't strange right?
Going too deep into this, I don't know how we would know about my friend's dog and that I came home early that night, something must be going on right, he had never acted like this before February, it's strange, he came home after him during the week so I don't have much alone time other than showering, going to the bathroom, etc. help, oh yes, I can see why this story gained so much time in our connected world, options for spying, especially for someone versed in information technology with access to the network. Inside the house you live in there are almost endless webcams, microphones, smartphones, smart speakers, laptops, connected TVs, you name it and that's not including the potential for hidden cameras that are disturbingly easy to find these days. to get by being spied on, is really something that sends shivers down the spine.
Me because few things are more intimate and more sacred than one's own privacy and that's why Reddit jumped on the case giving her options and theories about what he could be doing, these varied quite a bit from the potential for him to cheat on her and project his behavior onto her . for him to have some fantasy spying on her really lit up this subreddit for a while, a user named rikeromega3 gave her advice with a pretty solid pickup tactic to subtly pry the evidence out of them next time he's gone unplug the mono cable if he's on you monitoring, you will not be able to do it without the Internet going to the house, turn off your cell phone and any other tablets during this time and, in case you are using them as a microphone, take that time to very carefully walk around the house wherever you are. were you looking when you were arrested the first time is where it starts pay attention to anything that has moved look at the air vents come back and smoke detectors these usually have a layer of dust if the dust has moved chances are they are a little disturbed Look for scratches on the floor or indentations in the carpet, as if a chair or piece of furniture has been recently moved.
If there is a camera or microphone, you probably have one in the bedroom, so start there. The living room is the next logical choice. The most important thing is to take pictures in each room when you return to the city. You'll want to know what happened to your listening devices. Will check the internet and actual devices to make sure they are working and still around. maybe place the modem at a certain angle or facing a certain direction if for some reason the first thing you do is check the modem when you get home you will know you are barking up the right tree, now it seems to me that this is the case.
It would be the best option and it is a bonus that it is so rudimentary next time you are on a work trip or at your mother's house, cut off the Internet, allowing you time to snoop around the house without worrying about being watched while doing it. If it were her, she would do it again and again, considering the fact that spousal spying is illegal in the US thanks to the electronic communications privacy law, she could build a pretty substantial case against him, call the police, they can. to check for hidden cameras and other devices that are used to spy on people, listen, this is your husband and I understand that you love him, but if he is actually spying on you while he is away, it is beyond sick and disgusting and it is also illegal if espionage equipment is found.
You don't have to press charges, but the fact that you can press charges should scare him if she finds things and still wants to stay with him. I would go to marriage counseling. Another user named Workdog suggested that she check the router. Suspicious connections that could hint at the possibility of hidden network cameras to which unfortunately she responded by saying that she doesn't have any technological knowledge. From what I've gathered here, I'm honestly leaning toward the above suggestion that the husband is cheating on her and is projecting his actions onto her. If we assume that you haven't had any previous relationship problems and that this spying dilemma suddenly started around February, then it's safe to say that you must have had some kind of significant change in your life around that time, too, considering the fact that you were being away for long periods of time for work combined with the fact that he literally dropped everything and let his mother take that for whatever you want to rush home and address his spying after he suspected her of doing it, just adds up. to infidelity for me, either that or he just abandoned this sudden infatuation for the sake of spying to maintain control over their relationship to purposely leave clues about the fact that he knows what she is doing and to prevent her from cheating on him in the future, but that brings us full circle, because why would it? you need to do something like this if you don't do it yourself, why would you have to convince yourself that your partner isn't completely cheating on you out of nowhere to date, losing your mind?
I haven't revisited Reddit to provide any kind of follow-up. -up, so it's not clear what could have happened to him, there was no location information in his story to investigate further, so we are left here four years later hoping that they had come to some kind of positive conclusion. The result blows my mind if you're there jump to a private tab use a VPN and send us a poster, it can be anything, a smiley face in your profile bio, an unrelated comment on an unrelated post, anything May your story resonate with many people. and we all hope you've come out on the other side of this, well, reddit is a huge space and with such a gigantic size comes a lot of strange mysteries that can really captivate even the lightest subreddits.
Tonight we dive into three. Creepy threads that have interested me recently. I hope you all enjoyed this second installment and if you have any current theories for any of these, definitely leave them in the comments. Also, if you have any more suggestions for future Reddit anthology
