let me start with my headline tonight, I'm leaving, this is the latest

on MSNBC and obviously this is not for lack of interest in politics, as you can see I have loved every minute of my 20 years as host of hard balls. In the morning I read the newspapers and am excited to go to work. Not many people have had this privilege. I love working with my producers and the discussions we have about reporting the news and I love that this connects with you good people. who looks I have learned who you meet on the sidewalk or waiting at an airport and you say hello you are like me I hear it from your children and grandchildren who say my dad loves you or my grandmother loves you my husband I saw it to the end long after a conversation with MSNBC.

I decided that tonight will be my last hard lightbulb so let me tell you why the younger generation is ready to take the reins as we see them in politics and the media and fighting for their causes. we're showing that the workplace we're talking about better standards here than we grew up with fair standards. A lot of this has to do with the way we talk to each other. Compliments about a woman's appearance that some men, including me, once incorrectly thought were okay. we are never okay, not then and certainly not today, and for making such comments in the past, I'm sorry, I'm very proud of the work I did here long before appearing on television.

I will continue to write and speak about politics and encourage my producers and my team here in Washington, in New York, and my colleagues at MSNBC, they will continue to produce excellent journalism for years to come and For those of you who have become accustomed to watching Hardball every night, I hope you miss it because I will miss you, but remembering Humphrey Bogart in Casablanca will always have Hardball, so let's not say goodbye, until we meet again.
