CELEBRATE WHAT’S RIGHT WITH THE WORLD! | Dewitt Jones | TEDxSouthLakeTahoe

May 31, 2021
Great frame. Change your angle of vision and your life will change! I give lectures all over the country to all kinds of people. Know? Everyone craves celebratory glasses. They want to try it. We all have it, it is there waiting for us to choose it. Why don't we do that? Perhaps this happens because the Internet and the media bombard us every day with everything bad in the

world

. It is easy to accept this. It is very easy to stare into this darkness. But wouldn't you rather focus on the light instead of the dark? Wouldn't you rather focus on

what

's

right

instead of

what

's wrong?

This is the change we make when we put on the glasses of celebration. Do I have these glasses on all the time? No, come on, I'm a human. But a long time ago they gave me a standard, a standard and a guide to emulate, and they helped get me on track. I would like to introduce each of them to you today, telling you the story of how they came into my hands. I was filming on an island off the coast of British Columbia. Things were not going well. (laughs) The weather was gloomy, and so were my photos, but I was getting ready to go out again.

I grabbed a big camera bag and a huge tripod and looked up, and on the stairs of the resort where I was staying, there was a five-year-old boy, a five-year-old boy with a big smile on his face. face. He looked at me and said, "Do you have a camera?" It was adorned with cameras. (Laughs) And I said, "Yes, I have one." Then he raised his hand and I realized his question was because he had a magic camera. It was yellow with blue lenses, a red eyepiece, and a turquoise rotating handle, with a small tube coming out of it.

He said, “Can I take a photo with you?” Well, that was the last thing I wanted to happen, but I didn't know how to say no, so I said, "Let's go." So we went down to the forest and I took the first photo. And then the boy was so cute that he cowered in front of the camera stand he was leaning on, holding it up (click). - Did you catch it? -Yes. (Laughs) He had a big smile again and we continued with what we were doing. I film and complain, he films and smiles. Then it started to rain.

He started to rain. And I was setting up what I thought was the last depressing shot of a difficult day, and he was sitting next to me on the grass, looking intently at all my equipment, and finally he looked at me and said, "Your camera?" Do you have juice? (Laughs) I said, "No." He said, "My camera has it." (Laughs) And suck on this little tube. (laughs) His question surprised me... "Does my camera have power?" No, my camera doesn't have power, his camera does. I was the one with the wrong point of view. I was the one who lost the passion to find the next correct answer.
There was nothing more to say, so I went and bought a camera with juice. (Laughter) (Applause) And every day, Adam and this camera remind me to

celebrate

what is good in this

world

. And every time I do that... every time I allow myself to fall in love with all of it, I actually see a world full of light and possibilities. Come on, I know you've all seen this...not just on the faces of your children and grandchildren, but it's there all the time. You know, the beauty of this world... our world, shows us a wonderful example of how to live and how to love.
Of a banquet set, or of an overflowing cup. I know that if we allow this beauty to fill us, we too will overflow with it and it will show in everything we do. In the ideals we defend, in the passion and compassion we feel and in the love we are no longer afraid to express. This perspective and this angle will change your lives, just as it changed mine. Look at this vision, my friends, and

celebrate

... what is good in the world! Thank you so much. (Applause) Thank you. (acclamation)
