Jun 05, 2021
Welcome everyone, my name is me and this is my attempt to

beat

a Pokémon Heart Gold

hardcore

nuzlocke

with

only

bug type Pokémon. The full ruleset for this run is in the description but basically

only

the first bug type encounter in each route or area can be caught if a pokemon faints it must be boxed permanently no items except items held in the battle group, battle group pokemon levels are limited to the next gym leader or elite four ace and finally battle mode must be on set at all times, our gold and our souls.

The situation in terms of bug

types

is quite interesting with a total of 15 bug

types

fully evolved in the Johto region. However, for the purposes of our game, we have some limitations. First, Letyan is exclusive to Soulsover, so we can't detect him. Sizzor is also only available through The Evolution of Trade and our rules don't allow us to connect to other games, so the best we can get is scyther. Three of these pokemon surskit vol

and illumise are only available in the jodo safari zone, not only the safari zone is open for us. late game but we can only get one encounter per the rules and to get the first cersket available it takes six days in real time and we post these videos weekly so there probably won't be encounters in the safari zone for us like in the safari zone.

Other areas of the game that have several of these types of errors but we can only detect one, of course, in total we are left with 12 possibilities, but a maximum of 9 that we can detect according to our rules. Bug types are also pretty weak in general. have the lowest average base stat totals of any type in the game, so this could get really crazy very quickly, let's do this for our starter. I decided to go with one that I don't use often, cyndaquil, this will give our rival a totodile which I feel is a good middle ground for bug types, we are not weak like we would be against cyndaquil, but we are not super effective against it either. as a chikorita, it's a fair choice, oh and by giving our rival a totodile, I mean he's going to punch us in the mouth steal totodile and kill three lab assistants in the process beat us in a fierce battle and get us framed for crime and chase us by the police.

Good start here in the pleasant johto region on route 29. We have our first act of kindness or just basic human decency as Lyra gives us some pokeballs which means the race has officially begun. Our first encounter comes in the form of Route 31, which gives us access to Caterpie. We caught one of them and named it Flutter. Flutter ends up having. a bold nature more defense and less attack which is not bad at this point we are forced to deposit cyndaquil see you in legends arceus my friend flutter now it's just you and me since flutter is very weak at the moment forced to fight against level 2 pidgeys, which is not bad, since they give speed against the ones that are actually going to be very necessary for what we have ahead, after a lot of work we reach level 7 and the flutter evolves into a solid appearance . metapod and with the highest defense now I am willing to face some of the trainers, the route goes smoothly and we arrive at the purple city where we can face the sprout tower during our battles metapod reaches level 10 where it evolves into butterfree thanks god for insect types that have early evolutions against the elder flutter reaches level 12 where he learns stunning spores and sleeping powders, two crucial developments for sure, since the current level cap is 13, it's time to hit the gym the violet city Having confusion about flutter makes gym trainers possible as bug or flying moves probably wouldn't work.

The second trainer argues that becoming a flight trainer is not easy and that there are people who deserve the title more than me since they train day and night. He asked me what. He was talking about it, but then I realized that technically we have a flying guy, okay, talk about me all you want, with the trainers in charge, it's time for something scary. Faulkner, the flying type gym leader, we can only get Butterfree up to this point. which is terrifying since he is weak to everything. Faulkner starts with a pidgey and I immediately hit him with sleeping powder.
Normally Sleeping Powder isn't very good since he has an accuracy of 75, however, Flutter has the Compound Eyes ability which increases his accuracy by 1.3 times, meaning he takes a hit. up to 97.5 percent unfortunately pidgey wakes up on the second turn and hits us with a tackle, but it's an easy ko with a second mix up. This is what worried me from the beginning. Pidgeotto's base speed is 71, while butterfreeze is 70. However, yes I will remember that I fought pidgeys like crazy for those speedyvs and also made sure we leveled up mid-battle as this allowed for

nuzlocke

unconditional, so you just have to be at or below the level cap when the battle starts, which should hopefully be enough. the trick and he does it we put the pidgeotto to sleep immediately and we start hitting him with confusion on the third turn while in red he wakes up and hits us with bursts a little more than halfway but then we take sleeping powders from compound eyes and Those fast v's definitely made that battle possible.
Our next gym is in Azalea Town and due to the long stretch combined with the gym trainers, Butterfree would definitely break the level 17 cap. Luckily, we have the saving grace of being able to move on. to the ilex forest before the gym where we can find a new encounter, Paris, we catch one and call it a bug and it turns out that it has a modest nature, the child of a positive special attack and a negative attack, possibly the worst we could have gotten and that is. Especially not good because parasect actually offers us the kind of secondary grass that could be vital in realizing our situation.
I decided to pit Paris against Bellsprout on Route 31 to get some offensive V's up to level 13. One cool thing is that we can get both bullets. and the Miracle Seed to boost grass-type moves, which could be useful later on since Paris is very limited for physical grass moves. The Azalea gym is also scary, as the bug types resist our movements and are also super effective against Paris. We have a scary encounter with a b exercise, but the rest of the trainers are doing pretty well and butterfree learns burst at level 16, which is very lucky that she gets it before the level cap, so it's time for Another terrifying gym leader, Bugsy Bugsy, actually leads with his ace a level 17 scythe which fortunately does not have any stabbing move, but with the technician's quick attack, he learns to U-turn and concentrates the energy together with a berry Citrus, he is a terrifying threat, regardless of whether he leads with flutter and goes for sleeping powder, he immediately hits us with a quick attack and crits but we survive with 18 hp before putting him to sleep.
My divine stab, super effective Gus, does about 3rd damage and I'm really terrified. This thing needs to stay asleep after the next hit. The citrus berry activates, but we're getting a little bit. recovery from our shell belt, Bugsy then uses a super potion after the next hit, which is not good, but Scyther falls asleep here now. He knew that this was the fifth shift and that he would wake up. We could probably survive a quick attack, but the gust would. I didn't ko from this range and then we'd get sped up and eliminated next turn, so I had to take a chance and go for the preemptive sleeping powder while I was technically already asleep.
It seems ridiculous on the surface, but he wakes up and simply seeks to focus energy here and the sleeping powder connects with a higher critical hit rate. Another quick attack could have taken us out but he stays asleep for the next turn and we can kill him man that was so dangerous with The scyther that went berserk only has a metapod and a cocuna left and a bug and flutter combo can defeat them though flutter reduced to 15 hp due to poison. The second gym badge is in the books after the second badge the game really starts to open up for us but before that we have a rival battle against Silver he leads with gastly while I go for the butterless flutter it's a great main option here as he is able to hit the creepies with confusion, we also get massive damage on a zubat but then he confuses us with super sonic, we make our way to eliminate him with confusion, although the crocodile comes next and since butterfree is Confused, it's quite risky to keep him there, so I switch to Paris, who not only resists water moves and has the super effective bullet seed and miracle seed combo, but would also benefit from the attack.
Anyway, the crocodile just wears a scary face on the switch, then we hit it hard with the c bullet until about a third into it after one of the hits gets a crit. I guess the bug is up to the task. his name, after all, crocodile just spams scary face again and our next bullet seed only hits twice to leave him super low on red, then he goes to bite, which also makes us wince, but he only does a third, so I'm going for the bullet seed again for the easy. ko, he hits us with a bite and a critical hit and does enough to ko us.
I checked the math after this and it turns out it does enough, i.e. up to the point of singular hp to ko with a crit, from there a consecutive flinch and then crit. For the precise ko, I thought we had it so easily, but no, how ironic is it that Critter gets a crit and then gets it. Fortunately, Flutter is able to finish the job, which was an unfortunate loss, but there is good news after this fight, the game begins. really opens up for us and it's for one reason in particular, headbutting this guy in the ilex forest, well first of all, holy man, he shakes the whole forest by smashing his head against a tree, he's as stubborn as my ex-girlfriend, but the most important thing is that he is able to teach the Pokémon headbutt, which opens up a world of encounters for us.
All we have to do is use the headbutt on a tree and bam, a Pokémon comes out, okay or not? Our first encounter with the header is on Route 29, a spinorack that we caught. a nickname jeffrey jeffrey ends up having a peculiar nature that is neutral our next encounter is a pokemon that I think could be the key to completing the next gym in all of heracross heracross can only be found on route 33 and has 30 possibilities it can be found , but only on certain random trees, why must terracross always be so hard to find? After 122 headbutts, we finally found one, successfully caught it and named it Atlas.
Atlas has a relaxed nature, plus defense and less speed, which is not very good. strongly in its speed, but hey, at least we got it, our last encounter with the header is later on route 34 and it is a pineco that needed 37 headers to find it, we nicknamed it walnut and we discovered that it has a lax nature, the defense Positive is excellent, but the minus the special defense is risky since the special defense of the fortress is already very low so we will have to be careful at least it gives us a strong defensive presence with that we arrive at Goldenrod City and I make a quick stop at the department stores to pick up some tms like reflection and light screen that might come in handy later.
There is also a raffle center here offering great different prizes every day such as tms and berries which are hard to get in Heart Golden Soul Silver since it's Monday. I was able to obtain Shadow Claw tm, which can also be found a little further along Route 42, but could also be useful early on on the main floor. Whitney is trying to get a radio card by filling out the questionnaire and complains that she just can't. Don't do it Whitney, they are literally yes or no questions. If you make a mistake, just redo it and answer the other option.
All my anger for the years of torture she's put me through, I apologize but she's also the stupidest, it's time for goldenrod city gym now I don't need to go into much more detail about this, do I miltank? just miltank. I know we can't take this gym lightly, so I train all of our Pokémon to the maximum level and luckily I do. learn how to break bricks right at the level 19 cap, which I think is a great answer. Usually the level cap is really unfortunate in terms of blocking evolutions and good moves or whatnot, but this is a golden opportunity that she leads with a clefairyIt may be a big nuisance with a cute charm and a metronome, but Heracross is an absolute beast and does it with a super effective stab.
Miltank arrives, who immediately stomps and pushes us back. Oh my God, he hits us again about halfway and we wince again. dear sir, she then goes for a treaty, but we make our way to hit her with a brick breaker, but she survives with a quarter of health left, then she hits us with an 18hp stomp and we flinch once again. How actually at this point we could definitely change? in pineco, but the problem is that it could use a dairy drink, at which point we would be completely toast since we can't do much damage with anything else but here, I have to attack, it hits us, we survived with only 3 hp, I don't you do.
Back off this time don't let yourself be attracted and you can eliminate it. It's amazing how this battle manages to be difficult, regardless of whether you have a broken brick on the other side. I have no idea, but we barely made it without deaths after this. This time we can head to route 35 for another encounter, Yanma, but it turns out that it has a one percent encounter rate, so this takes a while, sure there are a lot of bugs at the beginning of this game, yes, but sure no. To make them easy, after 15 minutes we found one and I noticed during the battle that it has a speed boost.
Oh my gosh, I use a fastball, which is great since it works better the faster the Pokémon is and it doesn't catch, oh come on. We are faster once we catch it we call it flyer get it as it wouldn't be caught and it has a gentle nature plus a special defense and less defense it's not great but with a speed boost it's a great addition for our team move north. national park, but unfortunately we can't catch anything here yet because all the new encounters that would be here are only here during the bug catching contest which only takes place on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, since I'm playing on a Monday we'll have coming back tomorrow since I first watched sudo wudo I've had this faint feeling that it's actually very familiar somehow, but I just couldn't place it the silly dancing the crazy behavior the whole scrawny clumsy presence that's just stuck in the way of it wasn't until this play decades later that I finally figured it out who my grandma was talking about my grandma spinrack ends up evolving into arias while traveling down route 38.
This will be key to our ghost type gym

challenge

launching soon man totally random , but look how cool Janma looks while following us, that's my boy. Speaking of which, Emma is absolutely terrible right now, she doesn't learn anything other than a quick attack and she's supposed to be a special attacker while she tries to enter the ecrutique gym. This man just pushes me. Sorry you called me feeling what now. Rejected, I also try to enter this building and this guy says you'll have to leave. I really don't feel welcome in this city in the burnt tower.
We have another rival battle against Silver and boy, do I ever hope to pay him back? after what he did to the creature, his ghastly survives Butterfree's confusion with negative hp and mistakes us for supersonic, but we eliminate him on the next turn, magnemite comes in and I switch to atlas, who is hit by thunder and paralyzed and then the magnemite uses supersonic to confuse us despite all that atlas breaks through and ko is with brick breaking, zubat comes next, so I am forced to return to the flapping wing attack, a little less than half ago, we took it to the red in confusion and then survived another wing attack. with 14 hp to take it out, the crocodile is Silver's last Pokémon and with two really weak Pokémon, I go into Walnut who is able to take it down with a bug bite for the ko due to its great defenses, a difficult battle for sure , but we handled it pretty well.
With that, it's time for Equity City Gym Ghost Types to resist Bug Moves, but with a combination of Double Team Foresight to hit Ghost Types with Normal Moves and Quick Attack, Flighty can do quite well. here, which is great for landing a special attack. bees it's time for gym leader morty it's always a tough battle and honestly rivals whitney he's a pain in the ass in my opinion we have a secret weapon although before the battle he says I've secretly trained here all my life, friend, you are literally the famous one. The city's gym leader, Morty, leaves with Gastly as we send Flutter, now that Flutter has a super effective psychic beam, he is easily able to.
A Hikeo Ghastly Gengar comes next and searches for hypnosis, but fails at 60 accuracy and we respond with a 97.5 accuracy Sleeping Powder to put him to sleep, how do you like that? That side beam from Morty does more than half of it, but his citrus berry activates another one, turns it yellow, wakes up and hits us with a punch, but then we can knock him down, Morty. Then he sends the chaser after him and actually achieves hypnosis, which isn't great, however, now we have Arya Dose, who has the insomnia ability, meaning she can't sleep. Now Morty's level 21 hunter has practically no attack moves except those that affect Pokémon during sleep, so I switched to jeffrey and he actually went for dream eater, which can't do anything.
Jeffrey also has priority on sneak shadow, which deals massive damage and his pursuer then uses a curse to remove herself, but deals about 17 hp of damage. Morty's second pursuer comes in and we catch him about a third with Shadow Furry and he goes for a good shadow for 40 HP damage, then the curse reduces us to just 14 HP, but then Shadow Furry priority is able to take him out. A fantastic counter to Morty's battle, which is otherwise a living nightmare mvp. While sailing on the way to Sienwood City, I ran into a trainer who has two Gyarados, which is absolutely terrifying and I thought we would definitely lose someone to them, but incredibly. pineco saves us with a bet against the first of seven hp and ariados gets a critical hit in the shadow to eliminate the second who could have been bad.
We arrive at cnwood city, which is actually the location of our next encounter, oddly enough in one of the houses in which this guy is afraid that someone will kidnap the Shuckle from him, so he gives it to us, it seems logical. Now Shuckle is interesting in that its main form of attack, usually toxic, is not learned by leveling up and cannot be acquired in Heartgold until the end of the game. So I'm not really sure what we're going to do with it right now. I definitely felt good about the Cianwood City Gym, whether our team holds or quad holds fighting type and we have two flying types along with air ace Heracross.
We take out the trainers in the gym easily and I do some work to get our group to around level 28. The level cap is level 31, but we can't go too high as this part of the game is a bit strange. After this one in Mahogany Town, the level cap is still 34, so we have to be careful that it's time for Gym Leader Chuck to start with a main ape and only have two Pokémon, as much as that may seem. good idea to lead with butterfree. His primate has a 4x more effective rockslide, so I opt for heracross, who I put an oren berry on to help us out. his primate uses double team, another reason why aerial lace is a perfect option here, as it is.
He is unaffected by evasion boosts, we do more than half of them, he hits us with a rockslide, we don't flinch and we can take him out with another aerial ace. Next comes Polywrath and we speed up with an aerial ace to do about a third, after which he goes for it. body shot to take us a little below half, but our orange takes us back to the air ace and then takes it to about a quarter, but the citrus kicks in taking it to about half and the swell gives us a great damage at only 21 hp, can't ko. from this range so I'm forced to switch to Butterfree who takes a hit just above mid with Surf Polyrath, outspeeds and hits us with another serve at just 10hp and luckily Sai Beam can take him out with a critical on the next turn.
If Sai Beam wasn't at all, we still had options like Ariados priority, but man oh man, that was a lot more challenging than I thought it could be and we also could have had worse luck, like body hit paralysis, without However, fifth gym badge dropped while trying. to save the damn ampharos in the Olivine City Lighthouse, I'm literally blocked, let me in. I'm trying to help you. What the hell let me in? Before fighting Jasmine's steel-type gym, I decided to advance to level 31. Jasmine's level cap is 35. but then again, the gym leader after her is 34 years old, so I'm being careful, so It's how this game grabs you while grinding pineco evolves into a fortress whose newly acquired steel type is fantastic for this gym.
Now I remembered in gold and silver that Jasmine's gym doesn't have any trainers so I was a little surprised when these people approached us but both times they just talk to you and let you through, we were completely fooled. The Jasmine man has an interesting team and goes with Magnemite, so I lead with Heracross, who is able to hit Koa with a breaking brick, then the second magnemite comes out of her, which suffers the same fate. Next comes the big guy, Stelix, since a special move would help break bricks, he's still a good option, so I hit him for about a third. since he uses sandstorm, our next brick break gives him about a quarter health, but then his citrus berry activates, luckily he loses his iron tail and we can hit him again, but he survives in red and uses iron tail, which It actually does more damage than me.
I thought and the defense dropped uh oh, knowing that Jasmine will use a high ratio to fully restore it, I'm going to break bricks again with about a quarter of health left. I'm forced to change, so I walk into Walnut and decide which Bide is actually it. A viable option here, so we tank an Irontail, but then it makes a screeching sound to reduce our defense capacity and takes it to less than half, but I'm worried that we won't survive two more Irontails, but I really don't have another option. our team, so I'm going to bite again and I'm crossing my fingers, luckily Steelex resets the sandstorm on their first turn and then uses iron glue to get us to 28hp and our next offering luckily gets the job done as it turns out the defense drop really helped. us in a sense, since we take more damage so we can return more damage, that sandstorm turn was crucial, although I took a break after this gym and returned to the game the next day, which means it's now Tuesday and The bug catching contest is on, so it's time for our penultimate encounter now, since we already caught Caterpie and played with clawed species.
We have four possible meetings. Something along the lines of the bedroom. Venonat Pincer or Scyther. Honestly, all four options are good additions to the team. I'm alone. Hoping not to get Venonat as we can get it later but the others are only available here without even finding anything. We already have our first meeting that ends up being a tweezer. I'm glad you don't come very often. she uses pincer, she doesn't have a secondary type and fulfills the same role as heracross, but she is still a great addition to the team, we trap pincer and call her ruth, short for ruthless, ruth has a careful nature, plus special defense and less attack special. which isn't bad, I replace shuckle for now since he's not doing much at the moment, let's be honest after dealing with the red gyros and unfortunately not being able to catch them no matter how cool and shiny he is, we find ourselves with lance for the first While he's busy showing off how cool he is and all, one interesting thing that some people may not know is that the red scale item you get from Gyarados can actually be traded with Mr Pokémon for an experienced part, which is useful for leveling up our new encounters after watching Lance make his dragonite literally hyper-ray a man I'll never get over, we fight our way through Team Rocket's mahogany base, oh, and I also get hit in the face. mouth to money again, what's with all the violence in this game?
I need to get this thing M-rated I swear with the help of Lance's dragonite, the rocket executives are pretty easy and it's time to head to our seventh badge after defeating the gym trainers. I returned to the lake of rage to advance near the level cap using magikarp and gyarados as they give speed and attack which is great for our Pokémon, while there I found thechoice specs item that I forgot was here and should definitely come in handy. Yanma also ends up learning an ancient power which means he officially evolves into a mega yen which is pretty awesome remember how cool yanma looked while following him check out these badass guys and gals with our full gear on the level 33.
I think that should be enough for the gym and I can't stand exercising anymore anyway. the price is an ice type gym leader of course, which I think shouldn't be too much of a

challenge

for us, but we have two flying types after all, so we have to be a little careful. He leads with a stamp and I leave with a clamp, who stays. Big damage with the x scissors, but then he gets hit by a freezing wind that slows us down after the price healing seal. We hit him two more times to get him out.
Out comes the spinning pig, which is the perfect opportunity to try breaking bricks with the pincer he recently learned. If you make it more than half and then the piloswine citrus berry activates to restore it to about three quarters, then it hits us very hard with a blizzard to bring us to 31 hp, since the citrus berry restored its health, no we can ko from this range, so I'm forced to switch, I decide that fortress is our best option, since the steel type resists ice and they hit us for about a quarter, but then speeds us up and hits us with a bomb 39 hp mud.
Insect bite deals decent damage at less than half and now that. he is using a mud bomb, i can switch to it through him, instead he decides to use hail actually which is fine for us, herakos can then outspeed him and take him out with brick breaking strength was a big pivot, then the dugong comes out and turns out to break bricks. actually be a one hit ko, which I wasn't expecting a solid battle overall and that's our 7th badge, it's time to hit the Goldenrod radio tower, all sneakily with a rocket suit, but Silver gets so frustrated that we are using one. that blows our cover wow dad worries a lot the radio tower ends up being a big challenge we had so many close encounters that I didn't expect between self destructive coughs that minimize the mucks and goal bats that counter our team very well eventually we made it to the principal's office office and it actually wasn't until I talked to him that I remembered, oh god, this isn't the director, it turns out he's gasoline in disguise and wasn't ready for his team, which thankfully consists of a bunch of self-destructive coughing and wheezing.
I can switch to Walnut, who has protection, and as long as he times them correctly, I can dodge the self-destructs, which is very helpful, to say the least. However, the wheeze hits us and we reach 21 hp in strength as a combination. of heracross and pincer's volume and ariados' priority moves save us in the end as four of our Pokémon end up with less than a quarter health and two of them are poisoned, that was terrifying, thank God for protecting us and our Pokémon bulky, that battle could almost have finished us off. As we go underground we run into Silver, who I forgot, appears here.
He goes with Golbat and I lead with Walnut, who's actually not a terrible option. However, Goldbach goes for Confuse Ray on the first turn and we hit each other immediately confused. Then use an air cutter and another hidden mixup takes us below half oh I don't have anything I can switch to an air cutter especially not a crit and I need to remove some damage if the arias hit switch works, use the air cutter again to bring us only 2 hp. but then we hit each other in confusion for the third consecutive turn, not only did we not get out in 3 turns but we also failed to land a single hit in those three turns, which is a devastating loss since the fortress formed the defensive base. of our entire team two killsOn the board, then I go into flight and look for the ancient power, which does three quarters, then hits us with an air cutter, luckily there is no crit and then we can eliminate it on the next turn.
We also got a full stat boost from Ancient Power 2, so Flighty is able to clear magnemite, although he is paralyzed and knocked down below half. Sneasel can be taken down easily by Heracross and for Alligator it is a two hit ko with Brick Breaker Hunter is then an easy ko with our Jeffrey strategy, which The unfortunate loss could have been worse, although I suppose Shuckle, welcome back to the team, the latest Team Rocket executive is Archer, whose team scares us quite a bit. He starts with Houndour and I decide to lead with Heracross, who is capable of one-hit speed. with brick breaking he sends his houndoom next which outspeeds us and hits us with fire fang bringing us to only 29 hp and burns as that reduces our attack and our brick brake can't Eliminating it is not good at all.
I'm forced to switch to Yanmega here, who takes a fire fang with only 32 hp left and gets burned as well. Ancient power thankfully does the job as we have only 9 hp left after Burn Cough can be eliminated by Butterfree's psychic rays after being poisoned and reduced to less than half the man, oh man, That was an unfortunate battle, but after two very close calls we have defeated Team Rocket for good, now for our next match, I was thinking that it was only available in the morning and at night. and i had been waiting for the night but i realized that apparently it is also available in the lake of rage using the head butt trees we eventually found it as a venonat we caught it and named it floofy floofy has a careful nature plus special defense and less special attack which is brutal, I decide to bank shuckle for now and add Fluffy to the team after some crazy antics in the ice caves.
We arrive at Blackthorne City, the location of the eighth gym. I know this gym is going to be difficult since the dragons are super powerful as they fight for the In the gym, I actually ran into Entei, who scared the hell out of me. I put him to sleep for the fun of it and then he ran while she was sleeping since he was asleep running and proceeded to run into a wall and die and ho-oh he was so mad. finale during the heracross routine learn melee pincer learn sword dance and venonat learn stun sport and science beam along with signal beam at level 35 since i stopped evolving it talking about what venonat It also evolves into Venomoth.
It's time for the final gym leader Claire and one of the ones that scares me the most. I studied his team for a long time and simply couldn't find a safe strategy. It came down to her kingdra, as expected, but I have a bit of Claire's plan starts with Gyarados with intimidate, so I led with Butterfree. I honestly thought that at three levels higher and with as much investment in speed as we have, we would outspeed, but Gyarados outspeeds us and hits us with Dragon Rage before we hit him with sleeping dust I decided to take the opportunity to switch to yanmega and use super effective ancient powers secretly in the hopes that we can get the full stat boost on everything, unfortunately our second ancient power barely works which would have been nice if butterfree had surpassed the speed since we could have reset the dream, but I have a chance to switch to Pincer here to try to set it up since I know she'll use the hyper potion.
We get free shutdown. Claire heals him and he stays asleep so we can go for swords. dance my calculations tell me thrash won't hit ko with swords dance so i have to go with another one and gyarados wakes up and hits us with dragon fury after which we can take him out this sweep is set now i know she is im going to send dragon Air next as it has a fire explosion, although I wish it was Kingdra, in a sense Dragonair also gets sped up and knocked out and I need thrash to continue for turn 3, but it's not and we get confused by the ruins.
Given our circumstances, I had to count on Yanmega's stat boost or three-turn thrash, but neither of those happened. Pincer can't stay now, so she switched to Venomoth in hopes she'll lose the hydraulic pump so we can. she put him to sleep on the next shift, but she didn't, luck is not with us today. In the end she changes mega expecting to fail again, but instead she looks for the dragon pulse, which is a little less than half. I use detect to get the speed. boost and explore whether or not to use a hydraulic pump since that would be a ko for sure and it turns out he's still using Dragon Ball so I guess we can at least take off some damage and heal up a bit with the shell belt to survive to another dragon pulse that way she is ko with heracross because heracross is out of range for full health ko with melee but her dragon pulse gets a critical hit and takes out yanmega no way that was brutal .
I was really relying on yanmega for The league I send her is next and Kandra just goes for a smoke screen, after which a close combat is able to take her out even without the crit she would have. Dragon Air is her ultimate Pokémon and the melee combat is capable of doing the job without that. critical, we had a good chance of passing for immortals, but that family really made me dance, I will say that the eight badges got three kills on the board and returned to the team to form our final group of six with that I tried. to head towards the path of victory, but Lyra doesn't allow me and she herself says: Where do you think you'll go Sylph to the Pokémon League?
Lyra, please, after a massive hour-long mission and ceremony to summon Ho-oh. I run away from him since he is angry with us for killing Entei and the kimono girls are not happy with all that work at all, sorry, the ladies' path to victory is quite short in this game and our rival battle is developed without problems since he has no lever. However, with that we have reached the Pokémon League. I do extensive preparation to get all of our Pokémon to the high 47s to maximize the level cap. Maxing out our eevees whenever possible, making sure to get plenty of items like muscle band and focus. sash from our mother's savings we didn't get the scarf of choice, although unfortunately the life orb from alf's ruins frida's poison spike and the black belt from lake of rage friend unfortunately, as is often the case with many types Insects, their best moves are saved for later levels that we can't access, like the Heracross megahorn at level 55, but hey, we're as prepared as possible, it's time to do this.
The first member of elite four will be the psychic type trainer. Now one would imagine it would be pretty easy with bug-type equipment, but his zatus kind of ruins our plan. I decide our best course of action is to start with butterfree and hit the first saw with sleeping powder that way. Then I can switch to clamp and prepare with the sword dance to which I put a muscle band to increase the power of his physical movements, however, the zatu immediately wakes up and hits us with confusion. King Ruth does it with the sword dance, although then zatu hits us. with psychic for a little less than half, luckily Ruth gets out of the confusion next turn and takes him out with x scissors as we outspeed the rest of will's team, it's a clean sweep with swords, stab powered by the dance and mostly super effective x scissors than waking up early and the confusion was dangerous, although that could have gone south very quickly.
Next up is Koga, the elite 4 member of the poisonous insect type, who I'm quite afraid of since his entire team basically resists ours and has big threats like Crobat. I spent a lot of time thinking about this battle and came up with a strategy that I thought might be viable coca leaves with arias, so I sent Butterfree to hit him with a stab, a super effective sharp spike, propelling Gus to the yellow and then uses a spider web followed by a forest. door after which two more blasts take him out now, although I knew crobat would come out next which seems like a killer at first glance, don't forget we now have Shuckle who I put a pecha berry on in case he gets poison can absorb krobet's moves quite well and although crobat starts double teaming starting in gen 4, shuckle bide actually bypasses precision checks so he can't miss, this is a devious way of handling crowbat and it takes a long time, the good thing is that although crobat does do much more damage to us than we do to him, we have rest, fortunately, we time them well, we take him to only 14 hp at our lowest level and the position works while the crowdback descends to afinal offer after four minutes of madness the fortress comes out next which is a huge wall for our team but other than the explosion all I can do is use haste to damage use toxic spikes and use rest to heal us after a couple of turns out of impatience, I actually sent hair over here forgetting about that. it actually has a swarm, not gills like another one of our hair crosses we've had, so the poison doesn't really help us and the brick breaking does it just below the middle, unfortunately the fortress uses protection when I try close the fight to finish him off and the poison.
It's doing exactly 32 hp of damage when we were down to 31 hp last turn, damn, so close I go into butterfree here and a couple of bursts are able to do the job. Venomoth comes out next and since he has supersonic I'm going to sleep. dust to be sure and hits us with psychic before we can get it off, after which a couple of blasts handle it. dirt is his last Pokémon and I put him to sleep right away knowing how dangerous he can be with downplay, switch to fluffy, so we can't poison ourselves either and pick up an upgraded side beam with specs for about two thirds of the damage.
He doesn't wake up on the last turn and we can eliminate him to defeat Koga. It was a long process, but it was worth it. we had no deaths thanks to laughter definitely the mvp there, as the shuckle saying goes, don't try to hurt shuckle or he will kill you with a club that has nails in it, that's how it goes of course, bruno is next and he is a threat terrifying with fire punch, fire kick and rock slide. I spent 16 minutes studying his team and formulating a strategy, but nothing was clicking. An aerial ace would be great, but his lead hitmontop has counterattack and was out of range of Ko Choice Spec's venomoth with sludge bomb was also out of range of Hitmontop and Hitmonlee and would be seriously injured by those fire moves.
It finally occurred to me that Hitmontop can't hurt Pincer that much in general, so I guess we'll have to do it. choose to dance swords and teach pincer return. I just hope he already has a great friendship since I have no idea, but we also have to take two to make sure Kos, we just have to hope he doesn't get a crit since he will probably hit us six times with a triple kick driven by the technician and he could also perform a priority quick attack afterwards. We also have to hope that Hitmonlee doesn't outspeed us since she has a higher base speed, but luckily we have a higher level, though it turns out.
Putting it on top only goes for a quick attack, so we take out our two swords and can hit Ko all over, as it turns out we also outspeed Hitmonlee and one hit Ko Onyx with Brook Break and Machamp with Return as well, wow, many things. I had to fit in there and all our strategies were very close, but it was worth it for sure. Karen, the last elite member of 4, has a dark type team which of course is weak for us. She leads with Umbreon, who is too big a threat. confused beam to try to deal with Gengar would outspeed Pincer and Pincer's only move that can affect him is x scissors, which even with plus two wouldn't do anything since he resists four times, so I decide to lead with heracross, who has shadow claw after all with the black belt to increase the power of his super effective fighting moves around the world is able to hit ko umbreon with a row of brick breaking marks, fortunately it is spent more due to our greater level and evs and they also take him out with a brick break and luckily the same goes for Hound Doom Gengar also comes out which makes me really nervous but he's only going out of spite so it comes down to Shadow Claw, Vile Plume is his last Pokémon and I choose air ice, which takes it to a room, but it hits the stun spore to paralyze us and outspeed us with a petal dance on the next turn, but we break through and do it on the next turn .
It's time for the champion. Lance's team is terrifying to us. I have planned a strategy for a long time for this battle, but more or less. like Claire, except it's 10 times worse, there was no way to avoid what we faced, especially without ice moves and Charizard and Aerodactyl, both of which are super effective against us and outperform everyone on our team with the best strategy I have in mind. mind, it's time. To go for it, Lance leads with Gyarados and I go with Butterfree. Immediately, Gyarados surpasses us in speed and hits us with an ice fang at 35 hp, but we dust him off to sleep, dear Mr.
Scary, and we make the change to the clamp that lowers. two swords dance and the gyarados remain asleep so we can eliminate him and return now according to his team's order. I was assuming Lance would send aerodactyl next and in fact my calculations tell me we can survive a rockslide. I expected it to fail. actually, but it hits us and reduces us to 33 hp and we don't flinch and we can take it down with a neutral brick, but the inevitable moment is here, Charizard's change is as fast as the pincer is trained and 85 base speed, it HE.
I can probably outrun a 100 base speed charizard. I decide to switch to shuckle and go for our bide strategy. Our purchase takes it below half and at 49hp I know it's doing 22hp with air slash, so I know we can survive two more and take it out as long as we don't get crits, but it misses the first one. This is really terrible for us as Bide doesn't attack him and takes him to full restoration range plus another hit since I know all four restorations. it gets closer, I can rest and we finally wake up with 70 hp. two more air cuts bring us to 25 hp. our projectile bell takes us to 36 hp and here I know we are doomed.
He hits us with an air cut and now we are. in easy ko range, but he changes it and goes for fire fang, allowing us to literally survive on a single hp. What the hell was so amazing? I mean, we couldn't hit Charizard anyway, but wow, Dragonite comes in and we inevitably have to use shuckle. For one of the indignant, goodbye Shuckle, what a legend he was. It was a very difficult decision as to who to take out next, but I know I need to stop the Outrage from confusing him, so I send Ruth out and just try to be as much damage as I can with the return before Outrage takes him out. , Ruth goes down, but more importantly Dragonite doesn't get confused, oh no, a three turn Outrage is the worst thing in the world for us right now.
I am forced to switch to Heracross. Who is probably the only one on our team who can survive one right now and I hit him with shadow claws since I can't get him into full restoration range? He goes down to half, but then his citrus berry activates and the outrage brings us to only 35 dragonite hp. He's now finally confused, so I desperately hope he gets hurt in the confusion, but he doesn't and takes us out without anger. How unfortunate, a three-turn scandal and then a confusion advance to eliminate Atlas. At this point, our best bet is.
Fluffy, who I know can outspeed and is actually able to take out the dragonite with Choi Spec's powered-up sludge bomb spear. He has two dragonites left and I go for the mud bomb on the first one until less than halfway, then he uses a thunder wave, it's not good, but I. I guess it won't be the worst now here either, I totally forgot that Lance's other dragonites don't have outrage, just Dragon Rush and he actually fails and we can defeat him with a sludge bomb. I was thinking it was completely over since in my head they would just outrage our remaining three Pokémon would have survived to be hit anyway, it was all about breaking the paralysis.
There his last little dragon comes out and hits us with a dragon rush of only 23 hp. We hit it hard with a mud bomb that also poisons. Not that it matters at this point. point and then his next dragon attack misses, so the god Fluffy himself is able to defeat him. Wow, even if Venomoth was defeated, we had an aerated life orb with a priority hit waiting, but my lord Fluffy wanted everyone to feast on himself, what a beast. We've done it with hard gold

hardcore

nuzlocke with only complete bug types with three Pokémon left and six deaths in total.
