Cam @ 180 yards "out of your comfort zone" training

Cam @ 180 yards
you go on yeah okay here we are we're wrapping up shooting for the evening last week I sort of forgot to get to a actual shooting tip during my shooting tip segment so we'll do that this week when I get rambling about bow hunting and bone arrow rigs in general I kind of get off track right now we're 180

yards

we're just wrapping up a practice session here I like to stretch it out these last few shots and then I'll talk about my specific setup but this is 180 we're going
cam 180 yards out of your comfort zone training
to film it through the spotting scope so hopefully you can see where I hit let's do it ready you're in the square okay all right I'm not quite sure where I hit we kind of shoot for the kill shot kill

zone

of a just a old 3d deer target down that I don't think it has a head on it even but we got an orange dot in the middle of the kill

zone

so that's where that arrow was that was a hundred eighty

yards

like I said and what we're doing we're just shooting our hunting rig
I got my quiver on here loaded with arrows as far as my setup goes specifically I like this hogfather sight I like getting this sight out as far as I can from the riser and what that does is if you can hold steady getting that sight pin out there it makes you really hone in on

your

target really I you can really if you can pick a spot and hold it this thing is money if you can't really hold that steady you're going to fight this and it's just going to be miserable because that pin is
going to move around a lot the further away it is from the bow it's just you just anything any movement is magnified so if you have a hard time holding steady suck that thing back in and you know do the best you can but at 180

yards

if you can hold steady this bow is very accurate I'm shooting the trophy taker site here good drop away or took trophy take a rest I'm sorry good drop away rest I've been shooting for years I do want to talk about this the site pin here I don't
know if you can get in there what I do is so I have my dial set right here at 1:45 it's kind of cut off but that's 1:30 that's 140 that's 150 so 145 so that's that's for my pin here this middle dot is 160 that is about 175 so to shoot that target there I actually got to put my bubble flat level on the the target backstop there so I know that my bubble level with the target backstop would that's how I get 180 it's a you know we just we do it weekend it's hard
cam 180 yards out of your comfort zone training
to get a site setup especially a drop away we need to shooting a site that drops down like that it's getting right in the path of

your

arrow I'm gonna grab I got one arrow right here but you'll see so am I on my rest is up that's the clearance I got so there's no way I can get that site down there any further I'm going to be right in where my arrow flies and it's weird cuz this boat tunes in I mean this thing is tuned money but that site is to the left so I know
people say well that bow is not even Center shot or whatever but this is just how it this one Tunes up and normally it's right down the pipe but this one's a little bit to the left you'll see but it gives me a little more clearance actually so I'm not complaining but that's a setup there now when I draw back so you can fill me anchor in and people see me move around a little bit when I'm getting settled in and that's just finding my my anchor spots here so I come back
like this I'm shooting this spider turbo at 80 and you see I got the little brass knock point there I use that for a kisser right in the corner of my mouth I got the string right on my nose I got my you know I want my knuckle you can see my knuckle back here getting settled in and I got my fingers loose I'm just right here my fingers hanging loose and that's just how it's you so I get settled in and then right there is where I'm ready to go and can you get my hand up here on
the on the grab Tanner so you see that see how my fingers are pretty loose I don't grip that thing at all I mean you don't want any grip any white knuckle in action I just kind of have my fingers just just resting right right there right on the front of that bow and I got my my thumb the heel my hand right there pushing straight away and that's just how I shoot and this seems to work I'm going to let up here as far as just my general set up so of course I got a string loop here I
cam 180 yards out of your comfort zone training
shoot a spot hog wiseguy release and then I go to the bow rack here in Springfield Oregon I think probably the premier bow shop there's a couple great ones out there throughout the country in this area here the bow Rack is a place to go and they will set

your

bow up of course we paper tuned it put it in the hooter shooter make sure everything's flying good arrows are matched up perfect and then we tie everything in and you see how this peep sight is tied in and it's not just sitting
in there I mean it's actually tied in so that thing is not going to move and you need a lot a lot of Pro Shops don't tie them in like that and anything moves you're going to have problems when you're out in the hunt wood so you'll see this thing's tight and wrapped around here it's anchored in there good same thing with my string loop here if you get down here and you'll see that it's it's actually tied in it's not just the loop that that's you
know pulling on itself to be tight but it's actually tied in and that makes a big difference my little kiss our button here is tightening up top so that thing won't slide up this thing this is how we want it it's nothing is going to change in the woods nothing's no sticks are going to get in there nothing's going to move and you know on the type of hunting I do in the mountains you need to have

your

rig almost full foolproof and that's how I do it so that's it let me
shoot I'll shoot one more here real quick has that thing been going the whole time cool I have memory cards getting kind of full so I'll do one more shot here at 180 and she can pass my pass my truck past the barn you can kind of get that and then get back in that spotting scope tanner and 180

yards

here in the Setting Sun let's see if I can put another one in the money you can just stay wide tan you have to go at this spotting scope maybe you can see this arrow track you ready
uh-huh so good got another one in there okay well that's a little bit more of a shooting tip wouldn't talked about anchor points talked about what my setup talked about stretching it out here use a spotting scope to see how I'm shooting at this a real long range just so I know when I'm in the hunting woods you know and I my limit is 50 or 60

yards

or whatever if I can if I can put them in there 180 I'm feeling very confident that's why I do it this is to me this is no
different than pushing myself in the gym or running that's how you raise

your

level of whatever you do you push out of

your

comfort

zone

and pretty soon what was out of

your

comfort

zone

is the norm and that's what I try to do and in all aspects of my discipline which is about hunting and this is no different I do into shooting running lifting the mental game everything we want to get better doing the exact same thing every time for year after year after year you're going to stay the
same so we're trying to improve this is how I do it check back next week for another tip Thanks
