Bushcraft Shelter Camping Under Northern Lights (Best Campfire Meal Ever!)

s watching the Northern Lights cooking amazing food and having a great time. There's a big moose print right there, the whole place stinks. rotten salmon is a smell I associate with fall where there is salmon there are usually bears there are a lot of salmon on the beach well I didn't bring a tent so I'm looking for places to build a

tonight look it's a small black bear print that's his front pad right there are his toes and his claws look at this it's a bald eagle footprint right there you can see his claws you see he walked

ywhere it's a wolf footprint he came down here and came back the footprint of a little fox right there, a couple of coyote tracks there, that right there and there all the animals are walking along the beach looking for salmon, nothing but stinky fish now, although now I see some places that could work as shelters in a pinch , but I'm going to keep looking, yeah, that wouldn't be a bad place to shelter from the rain.

I like this place, there is a lot of wood around for Fire and Building Materials. I have been using this saw for 3 years and now two years. Now it's all good, I'll tell you what a beautiful place it is on a beautiful day and it's tempting to try to just sleep under the stars, but it's going to be very cold tonight, the minimum temperature is supposed to be around 20°F, but there is a strong cold wind coming from that lake, fortunately that hill protects us a little, if you go just 100 feet in that direction the wind hits you in the teeth, so the most important thing my shelter can do is block that wind a little shelter here I have this natural awning that will protect me from the frost and rain I have this wind to break I think it's time to light a fire and make some lunch I bought this on our last trip to Japan it's the first time I've tried it works quite well for removing tree branches let's make a fire with a piece of flint and steel let's catch a spark with the charred canvas we have a piece of shredded jute here we go it's getting very hot here with that fire, this closed space captures very good heat.

We have a bag of boiling rice that we are going to put there while my lunch is cooking. I'm going to go ahead and prepare some fishing tackle that we're going to try. caught some lake trout, got GL of salmon eggs, we'll see what happens, got a nice piece of pork right here, well I just saw some bites on my fishing rod, my bait was stolen so there's something out there , it's only 2:30 and The sun has already set behind the mountain and it's so cold once the sun goes away. I can see that little bumps are hitting me.

There are definitely some fish playing with my bait. The question is whether they are big enough to take the bait. ooh, there might be something in there, oh, my bait's almost gone, I've got a bag of EMP piñatas here, I've got a little jar of Cholula green pepper hot sauce, here we go, pretty simple food, fried pork, tortillas hot, salty rice and some hot green pepper sauce oh I love these little pinatas from EMP, it's a tasty South American pie, it's like a burrito in a Hot Pocket has a baby, a little midday dessert here, there must be a whole school of tiny little fish because I keep getting bitten and they steal all my bait, but nothing is hooking, I've got some black beans here, let's make some nice beans here, okay, the beans are cooked, now I'm adding some pork onions, jalapenos, yellow lentils and rice, cook so fry.

Oh man, I just threw about half of my beans on the fire. My little pot hanger broke and I threw half my food on the fire. Well, I guess that's why you bring an extra correct look. That made my tortillas hot on the gravel. It has a crispy pork side. beans and rice M robes and tortillas that's a

fit for a king right there that's so delicious oh that was good I'm so full there let's go okay it's late and very cold I think it's time to jump in my bag and I'll see you in The morning oh my God, it's cold.

I think I need to boil some water and make something hot to drink. The fire was put out around 2:00 a.m. m., so I woke up and put some on. There was wood on it and when I looked up there was the

viewing of the Northern Lights I've seen in a long time. They stretched from horizon to horizon. I got out of my bag, set up my GoPro and tried to record it, but it's very difficult. record the

northern

lights

unless there is also a moon, but I used my cell phone to take some pictures and they came out great, but I sat in bed and watched the

northern

lights

for about an hour before falling asleep again, so it was.

It was great, the Northern Lights go through these cycles and this year is supposed to be a really good year to see the Northern Lights. I think I only saw them three or four times last year, but so far this year, this is my third time. Seeing them, oh, my pants have frost on them. I'm going to warm them up. This herbal tea comes in gelatin and is passion fruit puree. It has little pieces of seeds and

ything in it. This is so wonderful. I made this mug with a cow horn. I also made this iron with some of my bush crafting tools that I made myself.

I had some pork bacon left over for my last trip I'll let it cook right there come on a hot buttered tortilla topped with cinnamon and sugar if you like cinnamon toast you're going to like these butter cinnamon tortillas and sugar, not bad, I think I need to put my pants on. and start cleaning, this is a really nice shelter. I enjoyed it, but there was one thing about the shelter I couldn't show you.

If you ever camp in clean sand or gravel like this, you can make a shelter that is so warm, you can sleep even in the dead of winter without a sleeping bag or tent. Let me show you what I mean. The first thing you should do is dig a shallow trench that you can lie down in and then collect tons of firewood, it doesn't have to be something big and thick. Things like this are perfect. I have a good bed of coals there. Now I'm going to bury it. You want to make sure you use dry sand or dry gravel.

If it's wet, it will just turn it into a steam bath and put out the coals. you really want to make sure you don't have embers burning that aren't covered in gravel, otherwise you'll find out pretty quickly when you go to bed, if you do it at night it's a lot easier to tell because they will glow. orange in the dark steam rises from the wet gravel oh, that's good oh, this is nice and warm if there is no snow on the ground and the gravel is very dry, you can do this in about an hour if everything is covered in snow, can take You have 8 to 10 hours, you have to clear all the snow, melt all the snow, dry all the water, then you can do this.

The key is that Santa's gravel has to be very dry, if it is wet it will only set the embers. If you have fire on one side and hot gravel on your butt, it will keep you very hot in the past. When I did this in winter, the gravel stayed warm all night, but if you want, you can keep going. and light a nice long fire next to you and if you wake up in the cold of the night, then you can go and move that fire, throw some gravel on it and sleep there and you can alternate back and forth, that's how it's been It's a fun place to camp, but I think it's time to take it down and clean it, here we go, looks good, hope you enjoyed this video.
