Building our NEW Backyard Dirt Jump Line with my Kids

Jun 04, 2021
Hey, hey, what's up? I'm Eric Porter and this is my son Milo. Hello and we are here in our

backyard

. In our last video we built this awesome roll-in for Milo right next to my role for the big

jump

s, so we have to Build the whole

line

, we'll build

jump

s across the yard and we'll make it your size, what do you think of that? I'm very excited if we start, yeah, the way we're going to build. These are built in boxes at the Landings, so this will help conserve

dirt

and make the most of what we have, so I'll use the logs I have, rip up some boards, and frame them just like we did.

The

kids

did a double trick jump that we and Seth built last year, so going down the ramp we will have two rollers and then he will come in with the first lip right next to the big jump

line

, the first lip and then the landing . We're also going to share that landing, what we need to do now is decide where all the jumps go based on measuring and spacing them, so we're going to place some flags on the rest of the line, since the lips are going to be made of wood, we can move them a little to get the line working the way it needs to, ready to dig Owen, yeah, should we take the grass out and into the

dirt

?

That's good, yeah, you, that was sick, that's wild on the push bike, why don't you try it on your real bike? Should we continue

Be careful getting under the ramps, you never know what's underneath so we're going to frame these things up top so they hold the dirt so we can make the most of the dirt we have and keep it from falling apart and it's more work on this one. moment, but I think it will be less work in the long run, you nailed it perfectly. try giganto first you think you can handle it yeah he's too big owen maybe everyone can hit him milo when you said you wanted a new jump line and we were going to build it together did you think you'd jump? line bigger than you no hey you wanna use the saw salt aka depth cutter yeah one hand here one hand here so push it in with the handle then pull the trigger and let it fall down down, okay, how was that hard frame?

Now it's solid. I'm going to use all the scrap plywood I had in the yard to wrap this thing and then cover it with mill plumber to make it look disgusting that we're sitting on. This is the old top of the landing. right, yeah, yeah, and we don't want this to show once you fill it with dirt, so we're going to have to cut this at least into a board. Hey, isn't it cool that you guys can break things? Yes. Yes, very good, this is the Alaska Mill that mounts to the bar of my chainsaw and this is basically a cutting guide that will allow me to cut slabs from the logs so I can use them for boards much faster. and easier than going to the lumber yard, how cool is it that in less than 10 minutes we turn such a large log into six boards that I'm going to use for the sheets.
Things are sweet one of my favorite things to do and they make you can make anything weird so we're going to drop these ends on the ground and then we're going to lay down all the sides so this thing we built here is called a anchor dead man and what it does is it anchors it from the inside It keeps the landing from being pushed like that, okay, Bryce is here with the mini yes, it is after stacking the rest of the landings by hand. This is much easier, isn't it? Yes, nice climb. Carson is a special animal.
What do you think about that? Owen, you want to learn that. Yes, hopefully before fifth grade. So your goal is to do it before fifth grade. Yes, let's drive. my machine, you're okay with that Bryce, make it scared, no, I'm a little nervous for you, it's a big machine, you know, I never bought you a gaming system for video games, Milo, I'm making up for it now with a real video game, yes, I think it's a good decision, it has a roll cage in your right hand, move it to the right, yes, there you go, yes, perfect, very funny, eh, yes, yes, that's right, thanks, that's right, Bryce did it. everything he could last night with the machine well into the night and we have moved the dirt as best we could with the skid steer, so now we are left with the task of shaping this dirt by hand, what do you think of this first? landing Milo, how is it coming together?
He's turning out to be pretty sickly because they head for the first landing like a column and hip him up good Owen, you ruined it, it's incredible, how is he feeling? It's huge, what do you think about there being a jump there? that's going to be really weird pumped up the ground work is done we're getting really close all we have to do is build the lips now and put them in place I mean you're really excited so remember your carpentry stuff from the Rolling yeah , we'll use it on the lips and even on new things, okay, let's build these lips.
Now we are starting lip factory. You're ready, yeah, okay, you're going to learn how to build a lip and we're going to make three of them. So we'll start with the first one, so the way we cut our transition, which is the way the lip is with the rope, we draw the line and you basically make a circle and you can decide if you want a really tight quick lip. or if you want something open or something in between then we're going to cut it, put ribs on it, put the sides on it and stand up, take it out to the patio, so I left the bottom of the lip as a kind of edge and that's how we can build the bottom of the transition with dirt so that you have a smooth and pleasant path until you reach it.
We have the border in place. Let's try it before

building

the other lips. We will see what this transition is like if so. Well, I'll build the others with the same transition or I can adjust them as needed to get it right. We pushed it up and close, that's the nice thing with the wooden lips, so we set it up to about eight feet of space for this. a four and a half foot tall Lip and a five foot Lander. I'm excited, yes, I am too, so I'll hit it first to see how it rolls and then you can hit it if you feel it, if not, we can work up to If you have this Milo, you'll see, yes, I do, it'll be fun, it's very smooth, okay, yeah, try it, okay, should we do it again?
Yeah, are you the troll under the bridge? I landed so perfect, yeah, that's like a broken table. I did a nice table job on the perfect Lander and the good thing is that now that you have this one out of the way, that's the scary part, yeah, because we'll set the rest up to work perfectly on the first try, so all you have What to do is land this one and then if you get it right you know you're good for the next one yeah that's where a well built jump line makes it easy for you let's build the second lip and place it and the third. one, yes, and then we can go through the entire line, yes, it's almost 10 at night, we work super hard and fast.
Milo is past his bedtime. Now we just have to film it in the morning. foreigner foreigner what are you sitting on it? yeah come on, get up here and help me, holy shit, a quick storm came through, but I think it's going to be perfect, it's actually going to soak everything so we don't have to water it before we get on. The rain will blow, something will come out and then I'll destroy your foreigner, you feel good, Milo, yes, it was Pat up before we jumped, aren't we?, yes, ready, you feel it, yes, it's okay, you're excited, yes, If you get a good one, the next one will be ready, okay, I'll hit the first one. and the second one, maybe you get the first one, okay, do the second one, you got this dude, you did it, dude, you ran your whole line.
Jobs, he wrote the whole line. That's sick, how does that feel funny? Should we have a session? yeah, let's do it again, it's pretty crazy for a parent to have their kid do the biggest jumps they've ever done, which are actual dirt jumps, you know, it's a little stressful to watch, but he's realizing it and he's doing it. It's going well. Time stays safe so this is great, this is the perfect jump size for him and it will definitely take him to the next level and prepare him for the big jumps if he ever wants to see them, but I don't.
I care if he does something foreign, he's still eating, he's been working hard and he's been gorging himself to make up the calorie deficit. Yeah, what do you think of the new line? It is fun. What did you say to me last night after we tried the The first one is the best feeling I've ever had. I think floating in the air on land jumps is crazy too. Yes, thanks for watching. It was a super fun build and it was great to have them with me and show them the process. The whole line comes together from the Roland in the first video to the rest of the line with this one with the dirt, the wood, everything.
If you like what you saw, be sure to subscribe to the channel, we're going to do things like this. summer along with Great Adventures in the Mountains, we like to have fun here, right, Milo, yes, and we'll also have more chicken in the next one if you've been following the rest of the builds, so anyway, thanks again. Be sure to tune in for the next adventure coming out of here, which was a big one. He is 10 years old and not only did he conquer the biggest jumps of his life, but he also performed some of the most difficult builds he has ever done.
Make sure it's really fun for him, even though it's not always easy to work with your

kids

, and if your kids don't always find it easy to work with your parents, make the most of it and you know, enjoy your time with your kids and your parents. .
