Building a Banshee - 2020 Banshee Paradox V3 Build - Hardtail Party

May 30, 2021
Hey guys, look what I just saw in the demo. I can't wait to show you what's inside here. This is the new Banshee Paradox v3. That is beautiful. He wasn't sure what his color was. They were going to send me. That's great. Sweet matte black paint job Aluminum

hardtail

. There are some interesting things happening here. I can't wait to show you. They advertise it as a flexible aluminum art glue. Let's

build

this and see if aluminum can be flexible like steel. Look at this frame. This is absolutely stunning, the paint job is super cool, it's an aggressive aluminum

hardtail

with some amazing details, yeah the only flaw I can see now is a little less paint here, I bet it's hard to spray there .

I don't know if they are powder coated, it looks like they are powder coated. I love the matte finish and it's more tan than I expected. It's less flashy yellow, it's cool, it's beautiful. I love the rib sheath protector there too. There's a little bit of paint missing inside there. I'm a little disappointed with that painting there. I like that they machined the brake mounting surface here. There's some really cool little things they're doing, like putting specks here cutting. By removing all this extra material, you prevent the shaft area from being too stiff. Same thing here we have a thin parallel triangle to allow it to flex a little bit and we have something that doesn't matter down here, it's also hollow there, these are machined as well, so it's not just to save weight, but to allow the frame to intentionally flex vertically but still be rigid from side to side.

More Interesting Facts About,

This is also a good idea. They have the IFC G tabs on this little notch insert here and you have to run this but you can time it which is great and if something breaks you can replace it without damaging your frame so it's great that it's a replaceable part let's throw this one in guy to our scale and let's see how much he weighs. I'm not a burden. neigh, but I know you guys are curious and I'm curious about the medium size, five point three, one pound, which is with a shaft and with pressed head cut cups and the seat collar which is very close to the weight of my titanium middle son, so significantly cheaper being aluminum and about the same weight, it will have the same ride quality.

I don't know where we have to find out. It looks so cool. Can you see how good it is up here? This is the medium size. This is the smallest size box they have. I do on this model, but that's the size I would have chosen anyway, it has a reach of about 450 ml and that's what I use so many cool things like this dimpled area here on the head tube which is sweet, I can't wait to

build

. This is a bummer. I'm removing the protective plastic over the head badge and some of the paint came off right there in this section and down here damn it's a shame if it drives as good as it looks we'll do it.

It will be fine, but it's a shame. I'll talk to them to see what they say about it and what can be done in the future, but that's part of the reviews as we look at the good, the bad, and the ugly. Okay, I want to show you what. Comes in the box with the frame. It's a new set of decals with black decals, which is cool, maybe you don't want the blue to match, except some of those decals will still be blue, so I'm curious why you would use some black and others. blue, this is a really cool touch up paint.
I haven't seen that on bikes in a long time. It is a unique color. Your bike will get used to and damaged and it's great to have touch up paint. Comes with a spare derailleur hanger. That's amazing too. I haven't seen that in a long time. I guess some cable management ties and headphones are so nice that hardtail frames come with headphones because every bike is a little different and a lot of beginners get confused. which headset to buy and they buy the wrong one and they go to put it on and it doesn't fit because they ordered the wrong one.
Great, that's what comes with the bike along with the warranty registration form, let's see this has two. year warranty on the frame, so to develop the

banshee

paradox

I have to use all of my middle titanium parts. Unfortunately I don't have a ton of wheels, derailleurs and cranks to be able to build multiple bikes the good news is that means I can compare this bike exactly to this bike with the exact same build this is the bike I'm familiar with it's my hardtail favorite is what I'm used to and being able to put each piece in.
If I feel something different it's because the frame is different, not because the wheels are different or the tires or the linkages or anything like that, so let's get to it, let's start taking this apart . This makes me sad because I love this bike, but it also makes me happy because I'm so excited to try this

banshee

paradox

, so these bikes aren't going anywhere. I'll stick with this. This bike will never be sold so it will go in a box until I am ready to put these parts back together. or I somehow miraculously get more pieces.
I cleaned this frame with some of these Gojo scrubbing towels. I scooped some out of my cola, out of my bottle, and covered the frame with a sticky energy drink and these scrubbing towels are amazing for cleaning tools. cleaning your frame and cleaning your hands working on those things. I'll put a link to these in the description. Goodbye, time, medium child, medium size. I'm sure we'll see you in the future in another episode and it will be fun to start this way, but it actually makes a lot of sense this is a lot more work than the 9.8 posts I just need another 9.8 post to put here 9 points are really easy to exchange perfect these are sweet I'm researching this color in a big way this is very different I like colorful bikes here's a little tip squeeze the earbud a little if you can feel resistance it's too tight if you can tighten it a little more feel a little drag move it away a little this is kind of nice actually not having to do it change the angle of my bar where my grips are any of that stuff the rear derailleur comes this way look where it does this Oh interesting it's routed internally through the chainstay so I'll have than pull that oh cool, oh this is the type of the three in other In words, this serves the dropper, the rear brake and the derailleur, and I'm glad they have external brake routing.
I hate, hate, hate the internal brake cable routing. I think that's the dumbest thing ever. Everyone wants their bike to look clean, not wired, but that's it. It means he would have to bleed every time I put one of these on him. I'm looking at this too and seeing all the thin structures here that will allow it to flex and hopefully not hit me, that's the theory anyway. It'll be interesting to see that it looks great, although I love how they've machined it and there's a lot of room here for it to flex and not bunch up in the back, in the front, we have a fork and that will prevent that.
To beat this, this will be a challenge, okay, I have to fish this internal routing, there is no tube, it's all a tube, let me see if I can get the cable through, oh, okay, okay, so here's the trick I use. The cable came in, oh. yeah ok it worked pretty easy ok we're running the cables through and I don't know if it's because the rear ends are longer or the way things are routed but I had to extend the derailleur housing which Which is fine if I keep it. the bars always rotate so it will fit, that's the bad thing about taking parts from one bike and putting them on another, they don't just interchange, there are a lot of things that fit and a lot of things that don't fit and that could be like a forty and fifty dollar part for that brake to work.
Let me see if I have another one of these brakes. It's a little longer. I can steal it from another bike. I hate making these water bottle holders line up with the hose. clamps, so I don't know if you just go around them, maybe the water bottle has a place where this can sneak underneath, that's kind of interesting. I stole the rear brake from my enduro bike because it has a similar path to the paradox. rope please work I think it's going to work so it's going to work I'm going to make it work it looks good with the wheel there let's center this It will fit as soon as it's coming together the cable routing was good except for that weird place where the cage goes water bottle, my brake lines were long enough, it'll barely be right, I guess we need cranks and a chain to make this work, but it's coming together, it looks nice, I think it looks great with the Eagle gold over there.
I'm really excited about these machined parts, this is exactly how I would design an aluminum hardtail, plus having all these spaces where it can move a little bit without transferring a ton of vibrations directly to the rider, so there you go I have them here 1 2 3 4 reliefs there, yeah, there's a cutout under here, it's a really cool design. 3 breaks look good, sweet crank, some chain. This frame has some really cool features, including these CG tabs for your bash shield, so it has a knurling. interface that sits on the frame and you can time it to align the bash shield, that's how you want it.
I'm so glad you're thinking about those of us who like bash protectors because I use them all the time and if you ever hit it so hard you bend it or strip the threads. This is a replaceable part. It doesn't ruin your frame like so many other frames. Cool design, Banshee. Okay, so you should run it even if you're not going to do it. run a shock guard or a chain guide, it's essential to run it, then we run our bottom bracket here. I use wheels that make bottom brackets. I love them, these are the ones with angular contact bearings, which are fantastic, meaning there is load on all the bearings.
Sometimes instead of just having load on what's on the bottom, it evenly distributes that load across the entire rolling surface. This is an MRP xcg. I like it, I've used it a lot, it gives me confidence to upload things and try things without worrying. about breaking my plate because this will hit it instead, so it encourages me to waste more time and/or things without this. I would definitely write a lot more reserved. I like that Banshee design, very cool. The wheel manufacturing bottom bracket has a larger groove because of the bearings. They are bigger so I can't use a traditional tool.
I had to buy this when I bought the bottom bracket, so keep that in mind, but I think it's worth it for that larger surface area. You should use a torque wrench. These wheels feel good too. The bottom brackets are made in the USA which I think is really cool, okay we are ready for some cranks that we use with racing turbines here because they are cheap, strong and reliable. It's interesting how these bottom brackets work instead of spacers. between the frame, you place the spacers between the crank arm and bottom bracket to achieve the perfect clearance.
Okay, that's cleaning a 32-tooth absolute black. There is more headroom here than there was in my middle child. That's great, at the same time I'm rendering. an absolute black oval this is a first for my chain. I'm using quick melt wax. You put the chain in a crock pot of hot wax and dip it in there and it absorbs all the wax and you don't have to. Wax your chain both in theory, so I'm experimenting with it. I'll let you know what I think about it in time. Yes, it works like my silent onyx hub. I do it and it stops.
Good. We have a complete bicycle. Are you curious to know what? weigh it, let's throw up on the scale, okay. I think my middle titanium son weighed twenty-nine point three pounds. I don't prefer light bikes. I have heavy cranks. I have heavy tires. I have pretty heavy wheels. heavy bushings. I have a big 150 Pike in this. I'm not looking for the lowest weight because there are more things that are more important to me. Okay, bikes done. This is a beautiful bike. There are some interesting things that I like. it's wide here and then it ends up very narrow here I don't know if you can see that, oh it's just beautiful, there's really cool tubes and I'm really excited about how they did this seat state bridge, the chainstay bridge and the dropouts.
Come back here how they removed the material so the vibrations don't transfer directly to the writer even though it is a square tube, it's really cool how they build it. Visit their website. They have some unique construction processes. It's really fun. They market this, they say steel is real but it's not steel, so their idea is to try to make an aluminum frame feel like a good steel frame. They can do it? Don't know. Stay tuned as I review this bike. I think about it, I'm excited, this is a beautiful bike, it was fun to build, there were no real curves and everything was pretty smooth, thanks for watching, there's a
