My name is Phil, my wife and I own Miranda Detail and we are professional detailers here in Richmond, Virginia, so today is going to be an interesting day. video I'm going to use some of the

cheap

est products I could find at my local store and use them on a professional level and see what results we can get from them.

Now I want to compare these products because on a daily basis we are using professional quality products and tools so there will be a difference if we use these

cheap

er products but just like we wash a vehicle professionally let's find out to give you an overview of some of the products we buy. These are very basic. I didn't include any type of Decon or clay barrier because what I'm really focusing on is a maintenance wash, a simple wash and wax, that's all, so this is what we picked up and I spent less than $50 buying them all These things that made the difference.

Depending on where you are and what products you find, I was able to keep it around that $50 mark, with the exception of purchasing these brushes here, these tools will last you much longer than a product because of course you're using the product that we use. We have an affordable Armorall wash and wax product. We have Armorall Extreme Tire Shine that you can use on tires and trim. We have Turtle Wax, waxed and dried, so this will be our protection product that we can apply to almost everything, glass. paint even exterior plastic now this product is Spray n this is a cleaner and cleaner we will use it for the wheels and tires and then a very cheap basic glass cleaner now as for tools I have a really cheap wash mitt This costs about $5.

We have a pretty cheap Little Wheel wool brush here that we're going to use for the wheelbarrows. We have another cheap brush that we are going to use for the face of the wheels and tires. We also collected these. really cheap microfibers, they're soft but pretty thin and I think this one was a pack of eight for about $5 bucks or so and then we have this little wash bucket that comes with its own little sand guard which is kind of cool. and it actually stays in the bucket because it has these little plastic nodules here, so it keeps it in the bucket, which is actually a nice feature.

Good job. Okay, let's start washing now, like I said. I'm going to wash this like I normally do. a professional detailer, which means using a pressure washer, you could just use a hose, but I want to see how the products work on a professional level. Now I'm using a separate bucket for the wheels again, you can buy another bucket if you want. do that, but it's not necessarily the entire process from A to Z and all the products and tools used. This just gives you a simple idea. This just gives you an idea of ​​how to use some cheap products but in a professional environment.

There will be some steps here and some things here that I don't do at a professional level or maybe you don't do at a consumer level. The point is the product, so focus on that now with the shampoo that I'm going to put in here. this in our foam cannon save them for now we're going to focus on cleaning the wheels now for the foam cannon I'm going to put just a few ounces of shampoo. I'm not being too exact here, I can pretty much eyeball 2 to 3 oz now I don't necessarily need to apply foam in the bucket because this is my foam in the vehicle so I don't need to do a traditional two bucket method, this is just my method, it's my way if you want to check it.

On our channel I explain why I wash this way and how it's actually very safe and very effective, and the prewash part is the most important and I'm going to show you that in a moment, so let's prepare the vehicle to wash it first. I go into my contact wash, what I'm going to do is our traditional APC rinse. Now I'm using Spray n, which is very, very strong, so I'm going to dilute it between 1 and 4 in this little bottle and I'm going to use this to prewash now that our vehicle hasn't been washed in a couple of weeks, it's actually a bit disgusting.

I just changed my tires, so I need to scrub them real good. We definitely have some bugs in both. bumper and windshield on the mirrors now because I'm not in direct sunlight and it's not very hot today, what I'm going to do is spray the vehicle to dry it, not pre-rinse it again, this is diluted, it's safe to do it if Yes you're not sure, then just wet the vehicle first. Now you can instantly see how it works. It starts removing dirt very, very quickly. I'm also going to spray the wheels and tires. Basically, this is a contactless prewash.

I'm not going to scrub anything yet, you can really see it removing the paint debris. I have to say that this is very good and I actually use it professionally, it has antibacterial and virus killing properties, so it corrodes. insects and it is very cheap because of how good a chemical it is because you can also use it inside, it does a great job cleaning carpets and upholstery. Now we're focusing on all the undersides because those are the dirtiest again some of the dirtiest areas on the back of the vehicle now a word of caution when you use a degreaser like that you're weakening your protection, not necessarily taking it down 100% , so for basic maintenance, wash and wax gently with this step only If the vehicle is very dirty, if it does not need a prewash, do not simply rinse it, lather it and contact wash it, but that depends on your judgment and what That's how bad the vehicle really is.

Can you see that clear line? Yes, that's without scrubbing at all, you'll get most of that paint junk safely before you come into contact with the wash, so before we even come into contact with the wash, the vehicle is very, very clean, our protection still remains strong. I actually have a synthetic sealant. Here that still holds up very well after a couple of months, even the wheels and tires, yes they look pretty decent without even scrubbing them, but we're going to scrub them more, so let's use our foam cannon with the shampoo and let's go Lather everything really produces a pretty nice lather.

It's not bad at all. Now I'm also going to apply foam to the wheel hub. This just adds extra lubrication and cleaning power. Now this is optional, but you can lather it up in the wash bucket if you want. I'm using this more as a rinse bucket, but again for added lubrication, totally optional, so let's see how this wash mitt works. I'm not a fan of the wash mitt just because it's really very flexible. I want a little more structure, but that's a personal choice as far as smoothness goes, although it is foamy, it's not the slipperiest shampoo.

Now I'm only using one glove here, usually I use two gloves, one for the top and one for the bottom, but in this case I'm going very, very. It's cheap here and I try to use minimal products and tools, but as far as cleaning power goes, the bugs have softened and come off relatively easily, not bad at all. I'm actually quite happy with its cleaning ability now. I'm going to wipe down all the top surfaces and then go back and hit all the bottom surfaces. I'm not going to go all the way down yet just because it's again the dirtiest part of the vehicle, so stop the wheels and tires again.

I only use Spray Nine, but this time I'm going to use it straight because I want more cleaning power. I have always been impressed with this product because it is so affordable and works incredibly well as a heavy duty disinfectant and degreaser. It can be used inside or out and you can find it in 1 gallon or even 5 gallon format on Amazon. These little wool wheel type brushes are quite nice, but they are a little thick and sometimes get stuck, but they clean up pretty well. and they're nice and soft but I don't like how they get stuck like that here we go now you can get a tire brush and a wheel brush separately because sometimes you can cross contaminate it's totally up to you in this video.

I'm only doing this because I'm keeping things cheap, but professionally I prefer to have different brushes, a dedicated tie brush, a dedicated wheel brush and even a dedicated wheel brush and brushes to get into these small areas as well, but again when I do that, it's also making things a little more expensive and those tools will be more of the professional type, so this cleans well, yes, you can get away with just using that product and those two tools. Not the safest way, it is really not highly recommended. I would definitely invest in proper tools, but again you are making things a little more expensive, so keep that in mind so the vehicle is clean, the paint is clean, the tires look great, the wheels are really cleaned well and the paint still beats. because of the protection we put on it a while ago and this is a wash and wax so it has a little bit of polymer protection whatever they put on it here so maybe that adds to the lace too but Overall it looks very very good now let's use these microfibers they are very very thin I mean they feel soft but they are super thin so I'm not a big fan of that anymore and I bought these microfibers instead of a great drying. microfiber because I wanted to be versatile, I wanted to use these towels for drying but also be able to use them for indoors or pretty much anything else, so I chose these again keeping things on a low

budget

now, Turtle Wax waxes and dries.

I've used a product like this before from Turtle Wax, they have a couple different variations and I'm actually very happy with these products so I'm going to spray it on the paint and blot it with the towels at the same time. I don't like these so thin, I mean they dry well because they're new, but they're so thin, in fact maybe what I'll do is duplicate them there, that's a little better so they dry well, but they're so thin and flimsy, and they are soft so I'm not worried about scratching necessarily just the quality of the thickness, the softness of the towel just isn't there, but they are very very soft so maybe you can give them a couple of uses.

You get out of these and that's it and then you'll probably go down to inner towels, but the drying ability of the towels and this product together work great if you had a drying towel fromBetter quality would be better, but the product works really well. job of breaking the tension of the water helping the towel absorb and leaving the paint very, very slippery and dry. You can also spray this on the glass and it will add protection to your glass and I know this seems a little counterproductive because I'm going to use the glass cleaner on the glass, but if this works well enough then there is no need to use the glass cleaner and these towels are already saturated, so I have to touch them now on each panel or so, it's not a fan. of drying towels I would definitely recommend a professional drying towel, it will last longer and is also better for the paint because it is softer and more luxurious.

The word fancier, fancier, fancier, fancier, fancier, now you could use a blower for this is a leaf blower or you know a professional blower that would

make

the job go much faster, but you're adding a couple hundred dollars to this entire process, so keep it on a budget now. I like this wax and it dries. It's actually a pretty good product. It's very, very affordable. I really like Turtle Wax products. The new product line is actually quite good. These towels stink so I wouldn't recommend them. They're soft. You may only use them indoors, but outdoors they are so thin that they absorb water well.

They are sufficient at first and become saturated quickly, so for drying towels, it is not a good recommendation for indoors. I definitely use them for indoors, so as far as wash gloves go, it works, but it's very flexible, not as plush as I would like. of space here for more fibers to enter. I would have liked to see a little more dense compared to a professional wash mitt like this one, which actually has a good backbone so it's not just flexible like this one and it's very, very, very luxurious. Dirt particles will get in, not just go to the surface and scratch the paint, so a plush wash mitt like this is definitely plush.

Meh, it did the job, but I wouldn't recommend it to a professional now. glass cleaning about these things, I have actually read and have never used them. Glass cleaners, well, they're kind of a dozen diamonds. If they are alcohol based glass cleaners they are usually pretty good so I am going to use the same towels the same type of towels not the same towels to dry of course they are new and dry and I have two so I like to spray on the towel and not on the glass just because of the overspray ooh I like the trigger of this cleaner with a towel, if you want it a little more saturated sometimes you may need a little more cleaner and it is actually working, It's working fine, it's actually cleaning up pretty well what I'm looking for. there are streaks and residue left, so it's very difficult to concentrate on the glass here, so I'm going to leave this towel here, but we still have some bugs on the windshield and that cleaned it easily, so the glass cleaner does, that's a win, it works great on a professional level, it would work.

The only thing I don't like about this is the smell, it is very scented and I don't like that many professional glass cleaners have any scent. But this one I'm just not a fan of the scent, it works great, it doesn't contain ammonia so it can work on titin windows with no problems for the interior, of course these towels on glass again, not the best. Glass choice now for tires and wheels. I'm going to wax and dry the wheels and I'm going to grab the drying towels that I use for the paint because I'm not going to use them on the paint again. anyway, I'm going to dry these wheels with the other towel so the tire looks really clean, still a little wet, but that's okay, to dry them properly, you want to blow dry them, but we're going to use the Armorall Extreme Tire Shine, let's see how this works now on the bottle itself, it actually says how to apply this and I'm going to do it on a tire because I don't like the way it tells me to apply this and I'm not going to follow the instructions.

I know from experience that these instructions are contradictory since it says to spray 4 to 6 inches away from the tire and basically just soak the tire in it without using an applicator, you will get a lot of overspray because of that and I don't like that. , so you'll have to clean up the paint and maybe even the glass, and tire coating is usually done at the end of the detail, so there's also a chance for that mess. It says to do two passes around the tire, that's a lot of product and let it sit for 10 to 15 minutes, don't wipe it off and any drips they say will disappear leaving a shiny

shine

, there isn't much information on this product as to whether it is water. -silicone-based or solvent-based, whatever the case may be, so I really don't know what's in this product.

I'm assuming it's a silicone-based dressing, maybe even a solvent-based type of dressing, so we'll get to my favorite in about 15 minutes. The method is to use a brush like this, spray it on the brush to control the overspray and then apply it to the tire. I don't want to saturate it so that we have drips because the drips can actually

make

the rim just show through. really really bad, so if it's too wet, this is very, very runny. I'm not a fan of that. I like a thicker tire dressing so it adheres to the tire a little better.

This is very watery. You can use it on trim too because it's a bandage, but I don't want to put it on my trim right now. I'm just concentrating on the tires, this is pretty wet right now so I don't want any drips here. I'm going to clean it. the tread because it's just leaking around again. I prefer a thicker product for rims so this is the initial application about twice, it's quite shiny, quite wet and not my usual use so your recommended application is a no no for me. I'm going to apply it with a brush like I usually do as a professional so the vehicle is now clean and protected and looks pretty decent.

How do these products compare to professional quality products? Well, here are some I would actually use. Use it on a professional level, one of them is the spray and this is amazing as an indoor disinfectant cleaner. Surprisingly, waxing and blow drying work quite well. Also, you don't want to buy bottles like this all the time, so get your products in gallon form. or larger, but this product worked great as far as washing and waxing. In fact, I was surprised by its foaming ability. It foams very well. It's not as slippery as I would like, but its cleaning power and some of the protection it left behind was relatively decent and again, at least you can buy it in a larger form now.

If you're starting to detail, you know you could use it, but you'll want to move on to better products that have more gentleness. lubrication but cleaning power and foam, this really worked well now, I'm just not a fan of this stuff at all. I don't like its application, it is very, very watery in terms of durability. I guess time will tell, we'll see. I'd actually run this for a couple of days and see if it works, but I don't like the application of this stuff at all.
