Bose QuietComfort Earbuds Review - Better Than The Bose Sport Earbuds?

Jun 04, 2021
Hi everyone, I'm Andy, here mainly from my list after trying and using the Bose

sport

s headphones a couple of weeks ago. I also got the new Bose Quiet Comfort headphones that have active noise cancellation on board, so today we're going to take a look. Take a look at these buds and see if they are worth the extra $80 that the

sport

version costs or not, let's start with their design. First of all, these are large buds, apparently bright white or, as they both call it, soapstone color has no perception of their size either, but regardless of the color, they weigh 8.5 grams each, which is a lot by true wireless earphone standards and they stick out quite a bit from your ears, plus there are three different sized oval shaped silicone ear tips in the box that have built in fins, these are basically the same ones you can find on sports headphones, but the difference is that while I love the fit and comfort of sports headphones due to their larger size and weight, there is some pressure on the inside of my ear canals with the qc headphones, which makes long-term use a lot. less comfortable for the same reasons.

I would also not recommend running with the qc headphones. However, some basic weight training, yoga or spinning is fine because they are ipx 4 rated so the headphones are sweat and splash proof, the build quality is as high as expected for the money and the headphones They look quite elegant. I like its minimalist design, but there's nothing minimalist about the charging case, at least not in terms of its size. one of the largest and heaviest cases I have seen, it is even bigger than the already huge case of the

bose

sports headphones or the sony wf sp800ns, but it is very well built, the lid and its opening mechanism is really solid , there are five battery status LEDs on the front, a USB port on the back, and the Bluetooth pairing button inside the case, where the robots themselves are held securely by powerful magnets.

More Interesting Facts About,

The larger case brings a little more battery life and wireless charging to the table compared to the Sport

earbuds

, so the

earbuds

are quiet and comfortable. It will last up to 6 hours on a charge and the case can provide two additional full charges, bringing the total battery life to 18 hours, which is only acceptable in this category. The 15-minute quick charge will give you two hours of playtime and there's the option to charge the case with any Qi-certified wireless charger, so at the end of the day the battery compartment offers good overall performance, but not at all. outstanding way, for 280 euros or dollars.

I feel like Bose could have at least added a free charging pad. the package like they did the clips with their t5 mark ii mclaren edition headphones, but they didn't, so what's next is the connection. The

bose

quietcomfort

headphones use bluetooth version 5.1, there is no single-end mode or multi-point support, so the bots can only connect to one device at the same time and cannot use the bot independently. The connection is generally strong and stable and pairing is also easy thanks to the dedicated pairing button inside the case. There are no problems or synchronization problems when watching. videos, as I said, there is no single bot mode, only the right earbud can be used only for music or phone calls, but the quality of phone calls is good enough thanks to the effective noise cancellation.

The voices are clear and easy to understand. They sound a bit. More balanced and less glassy than what I experienced with the sports headphones, so there are some improvements and there is also a new feature in the Bose music app called Own Voice. If you turn it on, you'll be able to hear yourself and your surroundings a little

better

when making a phone call, it has three different settings: low, medium and high, but it doesn't work as well as the similar feature on the Jabra headphones, so I prefer deactivate it. We'll talk more about the app and these features in a minute, but what I have to talk about now is the active noise cancellation.
I said it in my

review

of the Bose sports headphones, that the passive noise isolation is only average and the same applies here too, but these robots are called silent comfort for a reason and that is because they have active ones. noise canceling Bose claims that these bots are the most effective noise canceling headphones in the world and you know, that sounds like a bold statement, but I find it hard to argue with it. I'm not sure about the rest of the word of course but these are the best headphones I've ever tried when it comes to active noise cancellation, there is a microphone on the outside and also on the inside of each plate which together can filter noises quite effectively in almost all situations.
Traffic noise is not a problem when getting around. The same goes for office noise. You're covered there too. Wind noise isn't perfect, but it's

better

than the Sony SP800, for example. The only aspect of the enc that Bose could work on a little more is the hiss, which is always present regardless of the setting and the lower you set the strength of the enc and the worse it gets on the highest settings, it's not as noticeable anymore , especially with the music on and when you're on the go, but it's there and my other problem with the anc is that you can't just turn it off even when you're sitting at home. in a quiet room where there is no need for noise cancellation, if you set a and c to level 0 it only makes things worse as it doesn't turn off a and c but it works as transparency mode and there are many accesses in this setting and to customize the anc you will need Access the smartphone application called Bose Music.
It's a very basic app with limited features, but at least it gives you 11 different levels of noise cancellation, three of which you can set as favorites and then you can toggle between those three settings by double-tapping the touch-sensitive interface on the left earbud. . I selected level 10, which is full-strength noise cancellation, level 0, which is basically transparency mode, and level 4, which is somewhere in between the two, you can choose from as well. to have the shortcut feature enabled which allows you to skip tracks forward but not back or have the battery status announced when you press and hold the left earbud on the right earbud you can control playback, pause phone calls and assistant voice, there are no custom settings which is not a big deal, but there is also no volume control which may be a deal breaker for some, especially at this price, a software update might solve this problem in the future, but at As of this

review

there is no volume control on both QC headphones, which costs $280 and in my opinion that's a little ridiculous in 2020, but at least there are some other features, for example you can turn on and turn off in-ear detection, and you can even customize what happens when you take off one of the earbuds. your ear and now you have a sensor on both bodies, so the autoplay post feature is not limited to just being used with the right one as it is on the sports headphones, plus there is the sap voice feature that we already mentioned for I can see that you get some new features compared to the sports headphones, but I still find the controls and the app mediocre at best, but there is something that can be praised enough and that is the sound quality since I listened to the sport here, but first the experience was Not as shocking as the first time, but the comfortable and quiet headphones provide a sound that is as good as sports headphones with one caveat and that is the hiss that I mentioned before, It can mask some of the high frequency details and also raises background noise which is a little noticeable when listening to quiet and delicate music.
The only time the enc becomes an advantage is when you're out and about and want to listen to your favorite songs in a noisy environment, but the generous sound signature doesn't change much, regardless of the noise cancellation, it's well balanced. with rich, textured bass, sweet, detailed midrange and airy, bright highs, so it still sounds better than most other headphones I've heard before, but for me the Bose sports headphones are still the best sounding of all and That's one of the reasons I don't think the Bose QuietComfort headphones are worth the extra price compared to their sporty brother.
Well, it has new features and there is the excellent world class active noise cancellation, but unless anc is a must for you, you will be better off with sports headphones, they are smaller, lighter, more comfortable and they sound better too. There is no significant difference in battery life. The jump from five to six hours does not justify the price increase. Wireless charging. It's tempting as long as you have a charging pad, quiet and comfortable headphones have the same limitations as sports headphones in terms of control, so there's no real improvement there either, again there's the excellent active noise cancellation, which can be the most important feature.
For some of you, if that's the case, then yes, the QuietComfort headphones are impossible to beat, but you know, the more I talk about it, the more I realize that maybe I can't appreciate the ANC feature enough right now because I'm stuck at home because of the lockdown, if I was traveling and traveling a lot and sport wasn't that important to me then I would probably also choose the

quietcomfort

headphones, but for me the sports headphones are the best so this was my review of the bose. Quietcomfort headphones I'm working on a great comparison video of the best active noise canceling headphones and Bose will surely come back to compare itself with the rest of the best, so stay tuned until then, subscribe to the channel and give this one a thumbs up. video, but only if you feel I deserve it.
Thanks for seeing it. See you next time.
