Bolt Thrower Retrospective

Jun 03, 2021
Their perfect discographies exist and Bolt Thrower are living proof of this and they are both my favorite death metal bands as well so I may be a little biased in this video but there are very few people who will actually say that any of their stuff is even unsatisfactory. that's pretty consistent, pretty similar and maybe the only main criticism is that sometimes they change this a lot, but their sound is already so unique that no other death metal band has ever sounded so complete, so ladies and gentlemen, if you want hear. an incredible unrelenting, extremely consistent, incredibly heavy, kick ass death metal band, you've found the right video, however, if your main hobby is looking at dried excrement on the pavement, you better get the hell out of here before you that scares him away from the stick.

Bolter formed in 1986 originally as a heavy thrash and punk band and was founded by what would become the two guitarists who have been on every album, Gavin Ward and Barry Thompson, and then they got the drummer for the first set of albums Boltor, Andrew Whale. and a vocalist, his name is Allen West, it was around this time that Gavin actually switched to guitars instead of playing bass and then they got this guy called Alex Tweedy, what a stupid name to play face, so Alex decided be lazy and not show up. So Gavin played two guitars and decided to have his girlfriend Joanne or his people call him Joe Ben and then they recorded a demo that no one cares about because I'm not a dumb demo girl, you idiot are going to sit here and talk. about demos that are literally just the first album that sounds shitty with fewer songs, but around this time they replaced Allen West with Carl Willis who would be on every album but one and this guy is easily one of my favorite pity lists of death. and then in 1988 they finally decided to release an album and this one, homeboy, is a mammoth and with that title they showed the themes of all the albums to come, from Bolt Thrower, that each album would be a wet dream of war and conquest right now.

More Interesting Facts About,

bolt thrower retrospective...

Why do people consider this a grindcore album? It may be produced as one of the first grindcore albums, but that doesn't mean the music is somehow grindcore. It's a little different for death metal, but I don't know, it just doesn't sound heavy enough, there aren't hundreds of songs on here, I don't know, it's just a death metal album. The notes may be produced to be like grindcore, but they both keep their mouths shut or they are not a grindcore band and This is not only one of their heaviest albums, one of their rawest albums, some of their most unforgiving albums, one of their shorter albums, with 30 minutes or 28 without the bonus track, blind to defeat, but this album is actually one of their.
bolt thrower retrospective
The best thing is that a lot of people, including me, used to consider it one of their weakest albums, considering it's so different, it's the most different album they've ever released, but man, the more I listen to it, the more I love this album. This album is incredible from start to finish and I used to find it a jarring listen, but nowadays for some reason that's completely changing. Yes, there is a crazy and fast death metal riff, ajaan, which will reach its peak of chaos in the next one. album, but here they balance it out with some really good, catchy riffs, so I think it's all very, very easily accessible.

I think Elm actually gets better as it goes on with a lot of the faster tempo songs that are really crazy or in at first, but then once you start getting to the middle, a pain allowance, you get a temple, it's more laid back and groovy, eat it again, two riffs and then you get total world war 3 in your eardrums, the last three songs and my favorite. is actually the first of my three favorite songs, the whole album attacks afterwards, what song is this, Romeo, my recommendation is if you are one of the many people who consider this one of their weakest albums or their weakest album, or can.
Don't get into it, keep listening to it because I guarantee it's a very, very rewarding lesson. A very strange album. Many times I don't like to go into debuts that are so different from the rest of their albums, but this one. one is just as good, if not better, than most of their albums, but they still had something to prove and they still had another place to go, they still had a lot of evolution and improvement to make in their sound, both in the aural release and in what many, including me, consider. to be not only their best album but also the pinnacle of the death metal genre, now the title of the artwork and even the name of the band are derived from the game Warhammer 40k, which is a tabletop strategy game.
Now this is your first Elmo theory and, like every band ever signed to that shooty label Eirik to try them and the day to try creepy, this is seriously one of the heaviest death metal albums ever made, which just goes to show that you don't need horrible Basie Orchestra production to make the heaviest sounding album you can. What we need is heavy music and heavy tuning because I swear they tune to the depths of hell on this album, which makes the riffs here even more admirable. It's really hard to write Brits in such a low tuning, but somehow they manage to do it in every grab to write a single song that are incredibly memorable, incredibly catchy and absolutely badass.
What's funny is that there's actually a song on here that's really catchy that has a verse and a chorus and everything that's really memorable and I swear I could have even made this a proper single, folks. Death metal can be catchy like a pop song, we are talking about the Dark Millenium songs, every song has about the same quality, even the bonus track that was left out of the hate, but even though everything has about the same quality, there is a real one. Highlights once considered by the fanbase to be probably their best song on their best album, a song with an absolutely strange title that takes forever to become a classic, then, 1991, Voltar release the first album I heard from them, an album that I still have. as one of their best and another amazing death metal album, that's it folks, we keep getting 10 out of 10 silly more, asalaam school sparks, the beginning of them removing some of the heaviness.
I still consider them part of that early era because You're still explosive, the routines are still very heavy, it's hard to argue otherwise, the first three albums of both of them were completely different bands and everything sounds like one band after all and then everything before It sounds like another band. I remember the first time. I got into Bolt Throw the first time I heard the sound. I saw that many metalhead friends could talk about how amazing Volt Door is. How perfect his discography is. How great this album is. There is no way for them to find the perfect sound. discography I had stopped looking for it, it seemed like every great band I would find would have a shitty album, but they were 100% right and I was very happy that this element broke my reinforcement, they were cherries and what a way to present a band unleashed on the humanity and eras that continues to build on itself, is almost in the same vein as the opening tracks of the last two albums, however, what makes it much better in my opinion is that large amount of riffs that it contains and continues to improve each Again, it just doesn't end in the best way, then we get a bunch of really great album tracks that dwell in the shreds of sanity's unholy creation, a lot of really catchy great stuff in there, although I'd say that maybe they're a little weaker than, say, some of the songs on the last album; there are still really great songs but there is one song that i have doubts about and that's the final reveal which i find a bit of a filler, i still think it's a pretty good song, then there's also the up tap song scene , which is the sequel to World-eater, which is another classic song and this one actually had a music video making it one of Bolt Doors' most memorable classic songs. but I never really understood the big hype behind the song.
In fact, I consider it one of the weakest songs. The title track is a really weird song or humanity's birthdays are awesome, but the coolest song of all is the last one. A son who has crazy riffs. is one of my favorite Bolt Thrower songs afterlife, as I mentioned before. Bolt Thor was showing signs of getting rid of this crazy over the top death metal sound and we are starting to evolve but in a good way because on the next Bolt Thrower would simplify things to a basic level but do it well, something very few bands do. can do because 1992 released what I consider would be if Kingdom of Chaos didn't exist, still Bolt's best album of all time and a big fan favorite for its very accessible sound right now, probably the weakest thing I have What to say about Cell, although I love all the songs, I think it's all extremely well written and extremely catchy, it's very easy to approach, very easy to accept that production.
Damn, it sounds like a very bad Scott Burns production that sounds like everything is flat and boring, but it sounds even more boring than his productions, but I wouldn't say it executes anything at all, in fact on some of the faster songs it just sounds. okay, but it really sticks out like a sore thumb and some of the slower songs, like the ones about the Fourth Crusade, which is a classic, draw you in instantly with very repetitive and very, very memorable riff icons, a great fast number. The embers are strange. song because it actually means the intro to see halfway notes and several other

bolt

s or songs after this point also do this, where the next to conquer is probably my favorite fast on the album, cool rituals, however, I think the best songs are towards the end, here we had You know the ritual and the spearhead, but the songs from Dying Creed and especially Celestial Sanctuary are easily the highlights, like you now.
One more interesting little thing I'll talk about is that there's a song at the end of the album called Through the Ages, which is just a long outro, you know, I'm okay with this. I hate little instrumental songs, but that's how you do an outro or an intro, anyway, it's the same risk, but you have the qualifications of one of the band members that are like a long list of huge conflicts that have emerged throughout history, huge wars and death tolls and all that crazy stuff. I would say probably of all their albums this is probably the one you should start with, it's by far the most successful one you know.
So begins the long air of the screws or all the elements, basically the same, which is not bad in this case, but in 1994 we get to chapter 4, which is chapter 4, part 2, for the victory, part 1, now like chapter 4. In fact I would also recommend checking this one out to start, if you can't get behind the production on chapter 4, it sounds like really bad Scott Oven production, try this one because it's basically that album but a little more. Full of energy from the start and the production is excellent. I love the sound of this album. That's how you produce a death metal album to make it sound modern without sounding terrible like Nile or something, but I love this t-shirt from El Nivel.
The artwork on this album is very simplistic but impressive because during this time the Persian Gulf War was going on and they were completely unhinged because this band is obsessed with the conflict. This is probably my favorite vocal performance by Karl Willits and this album has a lot of my favorite songs and favorite risks from the band, they start with one of the coolest album intros of all time that I really think was worth putting as an intro called war, wow, what a song with such a great and creative title, guys, so we can remember. or it's like holy it's like someone kicks you in the ovaries and it just doesn't let up, it keeps hitting you and hitting you and hitting you as a child until you can't as a child anymore but then we stop completely in a song for the victory that is the song main of course a song that has a slow tempo and guys this is one of my favorite songs.
Marty Laws, like every sauna. Salman, almost every song after this point, this band really takes advantage of every song and everywhere has some kind of. Middle Eastern Phrygian riff or guitar solo, there's only one song that's not so crazy about the recorded image of cocaine, it's kind of filler, but it's fast and exciting, so it's not a big deal for most of my favorite songs, however light they may be at the end of the album. I have tank mark one, which is a crazy crest when he thought wow, that was a great song. I can't find anything better.
Holy Armageddon, damn, that riff is insane, making it my favorite

bolt

song so far, even though I ran out of bolts. They are my baby, theyI consider them perfect, there is one that we all knew, if they were criticized people would say this one it's hard for me to say this but some people will actually say this is an album but after Carl Willis left and then he came back and Andrew Wale left the drums to be replaced by Alex Thomas. Surprisingly, the band released their most polarizing album, even though they shouldn't be polarizing at all.
The only thing I agree with is these elements, the productions are shit. At the time they signed a metal blade and the drums sound very weak, the vocals are well produced, the guitars are very loud, although there is no bass, so it sounds a bit clunky for a death metal production, but it still sounds like old school death metal and the songs are still very very very good, although I agree it's probably their weakest album, it's not far off and I absolutely enjoy listening to this, in fact this is another one I would recommend, honey, start here, this is supposed to be their worst album, if you like it a lot, you'll find nothing but amazing from this point on.
And at this point, before speeding it up to a calmer pace, especially with some leading zeros , immediately after they hit you with what I consider to be one of their best songs, but some that have incredibly memorable riffs blew it away even though This album is considered one of their weakest and probably least favorite among the fanbase. Everyone can't deny that the song No Gust No Glory is by far their standout and easily one of their best songs. II The Right War. Willits returns to do his vocal duties, we lose him again and Bolts are followed as a mercenary with another of the most polarizing albums and I will never be part of the team again with new members, Martin Kern, as the new drummer from this moment on and a very underrated vocalist that he has I've come to absolutely love and you're going to have to love if you're going to like this album now that it literally has three title songs, yeah no this Elm has three title songs, they all have a little bit of the same thing.
I feel like they all have a slower pace that you feel might become redundant, especially consider this on Honor which is the first of the three side tracks, is probably the weakest of the three and is a bit more boring. But then when you hear Courage and Pride you say, "Damn, these are some of the best songs on the whole album, some of the best they've ever written, although there's another one in the Bolt Throw Realms pentalogy that all sound the same." . This one still sounds a little fresh with Dave Ingram on vocals in a production that I think is much better than Mercenary.
It's very old but still very good old and my favorite song here is the second one. cable, which has a very crazy typical classic, screws our rhythm and finesse also the other, but although Dave Ben Grimm is amazing and does a great job on this album, there is nothing wrong with what he did, but we will be honest. with ourselves Carl Willis was the best vocalist four years later in 2005, both would at that time release their last album, another incredible album and an amazing way to end a perfect discography, now that the return of Carl Willis and Al is considered a complete and absolute return.
The album and alamut are considered one of their best albums, a modern death metal album that has incredible production and some of their best songs. Well damn, I basically just told you all about alum in the intro, well at least now we have more time to talk. about the song, so we have the first lights, which feels like a total throwback to the beginning of For Victory, which reminds me of this album, it actually sounds a lot like For Victory, part two, the energy is back on full swing and the songwriting is a little bit It's more experimental just a little bit, although I mean we're talking about a full tour and some of the experimental stuff shows up in the title track, one of the most different sounding songs, which are the by Floyd, then we have a barrage of incredible songs.
The Kill Chain. which is an amazing slow groove, antitank, that armor is a classic, then you get to the fillers towards the end of the album, humanity's last band in salvo, but then it hits you by far, the best thing on the album, one of Your best songs. song that's a perfect way to end a sensational discography we have when the guns go out says their last elma can't keep making amazing albums but I'd rather a band make a bunch of really good albums and then know it's time to stop that. The way you can look back at that band is like, they had an impeccable legacy, you don't want to be the big four, which is a cesspool of men going through a mid-life crisis thinking they're Brett Favre or some scum, but this was so.
It wasn't meant to be the end, they kept trying to write new music for years and years and years, but last year, instead of writing a new album for 11 straight years or taking the opportunity to do something other than tour with bands, the drummer died Martin Kern and Carl Willis. has expressed that they don't want to reunite vulgar or enough, this is the end, however, never can sometimes mean never and while that statement doesn't make any sense, the band has recently hinted that they will possibly return to make another album making statements that they were sad. that they couldn't show more of Martin's abilities, they said there's more to come to rectify the fact that they couldn't show him more, does that mean they're actually going to release an album that he performed on?
Are you going to dig up those recordings because you felt they weren't good enough and release them as an album if that's the case? I'd like to hear more from Martin of course, but I wouldn't want to hear a shitty album, but I'm a little skeptical about whether it will be a quality death metal release. I guess we'll just have to wait and see and if that day comes I'll modify this video here ladies and gentlemen to review their new album. but I guess if that never happens to your ears, listen to me ramble on about nonsense right now, that means it never happened, but maybe that was for the best before I finished talking about one of my favorite bands and had a blast.
Once talking about them, I'm going to rank their albums from worst to best. Now disclaimer, let me preface this by saying that it's very, very difficult for me to sort their albums and honestly, you can put them in any order as long as you want. The Expendables probably at the bottom and you have like chapter 4 and for victory and all their albums at the top it doesn't matter, they're all amazing, you'll probably start with victory and chapter 4, bye.
