blush

everything you need to know all your questions answered about

blush

placement

, formula

colors

, what you can apply with absolutely everything for those of you who are new here hello, my name is andrea ali, I am a professional makeup artist with based in Paris, here you can see my latest work with vogue paris about natalia vodyanova for loropiana a little bragging I never heard anyone, subscribe to this channel if you want to know more about makeup techniques now let's get into blush like any other product for the complexion. suits your own needs, let's think about what blush is supposed to do to our skin, so it's not about creating the same effect that we usually have when you know we're blushing, I don't know about you, but when I blush It starts in my ears I can feel my ears getting hot and then all the blood flows to my face and I turn red like a tomato that's not what you want to try to achieve with blush what you're trying to achieve with a blush it's like a blush natural on the skin like you are in the mountains like you have a short run and like fresh air this is the kind of result you want to get when you use blush and I know that Some people just stay away from blush because, you know, in the 80s women used to buy a lot of blush.

Nobody wants that anymore. I think how should you choose the right texture and color for you? You must first determine the type. of skin that you have your skin condition that is a normal oily combination because that will determine the type of formula that you need when it comes to blush, do you need a cream formula, a tint, a liquid formula or a powder formula and then you need to determine? the tone and undertone of your skin, the tone, as I said many times, is the intensity of your skin, light, light, medium, medium dark, and so on, and the undertone is a warm undertone, a cool undertone or a neutral nuance.

More Interesting Facts About,

That's what you say when you check it. If you know all of these criteria that describe your skin, it should be easy, so let's start with

textures

and

colors

. If you have dry skin, obviously I suggest you go more for cream or liquid formulas and I'll give you an example. I have a whole drawer of my favorite blushes here. A really nice formula for dry skin would be brighter cloud paint. This is a really good product. It really feels like a little cloud. I've never touched a cloud, but it feels like one. It has this type of consistency because it is very soft and blends very easily and you can apply it with your fingers.

My favorite colors would be dark and sometimes I like to mix it with a little puff, as you can see these are quite worn. I don't have much product on these, this is dusk and as you can see it has a very very smooth color consistency, it's creamy but not too hydrating or too dewy so they are great if you have dry skin. mature if you also have mature skin and we'll talk about application a little later okay another product that you could use if you have dry or normal skin is this ilia color haze multipurpose pigment.

I have it in two colors. the awakening color is my favorite it looks very similar to Glossier's sunset and then I have this color called sing now this is the type of product that you can see it has a lot of pigment it can be used all over the face as a blush on your eyelids or even on your lips to create that monochrome look compared to gloss, this will dry a little more matte and last longer than gloss. Another product that I love, would love, would be the fenty i cream blush. I've been talking about this so many times because it's an amazing formula, very creamy, that can be applied on top of foundation or on bare skin, like you don't have to have anything on your skin to make this product look beautiful again.
This is for dry or normal or even combination skin. I wouldn't use this on oily skin. It's just my personal advice. Now let's talk about combination and oily skin. Combination skin is usually very oily in the T-zone. Oily skin is oily everywhere, including the cheeks. That's the big difference, so it will determine the type of product you're going to use if you have oily skin. I would suggest that even if it is a liquid product, I would suggest a product like Nars liquid blush because these types last more or less. Well, and if you have oily skin, do not forget that applying a cream product will never work on its own or a liquid product, you have to come and set it with powder, you can apply a powder blush or you can just apply a regular translucent powder. put that product on this is the blush and you will see now the color result is crazy it's really crazy and it has a beautiful finish it dries down it doesn't stay wet or wet so I suggest you use it if Even if you have oily skin honestly this product will work for any skin type but I know oily skin sometimes wants to use creamier products so this would be a great option for you for oily skin and combination skin.
I also recommend Laura. mercier blushes these are amazing the colors available are just beautiful the color payoff is fantastic it's so easy to blend these are just the perfect blushes this one i left a bit compromised on it's in the color strawberry as we'll talk about colors in a second honestly we're still in

textures

. The next product I'm going to talk about can be used by all skin types, but especially oily and combination skin, which are usually the type of skin that will dissolve products into this minimalist whipped powder. blush guys, it's like a super nice moussy texture, it's very delicate, it has the most beautiful finish, like a golden finish, I love this product, another blush that I really like for all skin types, but especially you know, skin Mixed and fatty would be these. from oops kvd, very very easy to blend, they are super pigmented.
Dior has amazing blushes and also incredibly soft on the skin, even if you know this color in the pan when you are going to apply it, they are absolutely beautiful, beautiful and now let's talk about color, if you have a light skin tone and a neutral or cool undertone , I suggest you apply colors like this, it will look good on you, this is the type of color, for example, that would look absolutely horrible on me. because I have a warm undertone and I'm more of a medium light, this is a basic pink from Dior and you can see it's a beautiful soft pink, more like a cool pink tone, it will suit you if you're the type of person who has very , very blonde, very blue eyes, very light skin, so if you have a light skin tone, neutral or warm tone, uh, this type of color will look beautiful on you, this is strawberry and in fact, this particular color will suit you.
It suits many, many. There are many skin tones and just compared to this one I want you to see the difference, so this is definitely yours, it's a cooler tone, it has a little more warmth and a little more, it's a little more saturated, think more . For example, the darker your skin is, you could use colors that are a little more saturated and have a bit of vibrancy to them. So if your light to medium skin tone has a warm undertone, this would suit you, uh, again, it's from Dior. number 136 as you can see is a super pretty peach, it has a little bit of pink but not too much and yes if you have a warm undertone and medium light skin it will suit you if you have a medium medium depth. is the kind of color that would look good on you this is 999 from dior now all these colors that I'm talking about are not like a rule okay there could be exceptions and there are exceptions and these are just recommended colors for You're okay so no You take it as if it's the only color I could wear, but this is actually very pretty, it will look amazing on darker skin, it really is a beautiful color, this is also a beautiful color for skin tones more like medium, medium dark, has a lot. of warmth a lot of color is very saturated now let's talk about application because I'm sure you're here to know how to apply blush when it comes to cream blushes you can obviously apply it with your finger but I find it's actually a lot easier If you use a sponge, if you use a beauty blender or any makeup sponge, especially the hydrophilic one, which doubles in size when you put it under water, that type of sponge is the best for applying creams and liquids with your finger, especially if If you apply blush on top of your foundation, you run the risk of just grabbing it to lift the foundation underneath, so I highly recommend, unless you obviously have a confident hand, use a beauty blender, use this beauty sponge to apply your cream blush now. let me show you exactly how to apply it, let's take a cream blush, a really cool color that I love love love, it's poppin petal by fenty, this color is really beautiful and looks good if you are fair or like an almost skin tone medium, so here you go What I'm going to do: I squeeze my sponge.
This is from Terry. I load the sponge with the product. Wipe off the excess on the back of your hand. This is where we are talking about

placement

. It's different for everyone. I know a lot of people would do it. uh, use that rule where you're smiling and then you apply it to your cheek, but then when you're serious your cheek goes a little lower, that's not a good way to apply blush, it's just not, I'm sorry. It might work if you are 16 and your cheeks are very high, it doesn't matter if you laugh or not, but if you are over 25 or 30, that trick might not work for you, the higher your blush, I think the younger be it will look like this if you have a very long face it will really look good on you if you apply the blush right in the middle of your cheek if you have a round face if you have a rather square face the blush will look better if you apply it a little higher, the placement for me will be here, I don't know if you could say it's like here, this is the top of my cheek and I make very small bouncing movements, so never apply your blush on top of the powder.
If you have applied foundation and want to apply cream blush do that first and then apply powder when you apply the blush with a sponge, I promise it's almost like I'm blending it for you so I highly recommend using this if you want. I'm planning to apply a cream or liquid blush now let me show you how not to apply blush. Well, I'm going to take a color that's honestly too strong for me. I can make it work, but it's definitely too saturated and a little too dark. for my skin tone, so I'm going to take this on with a brush.
I know powder blush is something most of you would use, usually people blow, don't blow on the brush please, you might as well blow your nose. there, okay, don't do that and then, wait, this is too much, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, no one does that, let me correct this. It's more likely that what people are doing like that and then you go on like that, almost like in the contour line now you can see that when I smile it's actually pretty cute from certain angles, like it's not bad, right, but if I talk Seriously, it just went down, not only does this color make me look like I'm frustrated and like I just applied for a role in Dynasty, but it also makes me sad, it makes my whole cheek drop and I have common sense here, in the way that I have applied it, because I have seen much worse things than this, like people who literally apply. the blush like here and then you wonder what's going on, like why doesn't the blush look beautiful on you because you've placed it wrong, it's because you probably used the wrong color and you probably applied it too. with the wrong thing, my brush was clean, but you guys, I can't even begin to tell you how important it is that your brush is clean, if you apply a powder blush, please clean your brushes, it's one thing you should do once a week.
You worry about your makeup looking good and your skin being healthy, so yeah, this is sad. Now let me talk about complicated blushes, so this is a very complicated blush. Okay, it's a beautiful color, but what do we notice? It has shine, no. it has the shine of a creamy product, it actually has shine now, why is it a complicated product unless you are a mbhb, which is a model beauty human being, this blush probably wouldn't suit you because of its texture if you are like me? it's bhb a beautiful human being, there's no abbreviation like that, I just made it up, honestly why would this look bad on me? because I have very large pores, I'm obviously surrounded by beautiful, amazing quality light, so I don't really look at it, but in real life, I'll be honest with you, I have very, very large pores in this area between my eyebrows and on my chin , so when I apply this type of blush on the skin it looks very, very strange and I'm going to show you, so let's take a clean brush, even if it's on the wrong side.
I'm going to take this brush, I'm not going to blow it out and then if I apply it here again, where I know people tell you that's where the blush is supposed to be. I mean, I don't know if you guys can tell, but can you get closer? It just emphasizes all my pores and my imperfections here, so whenever you're going to apply a gloss. blush especially in this area, okay, and then say like this, this will emphasize and highlight all the imperfections of yourskin, this is the type of product that can be used on someone with really beautiful skin or someone with very young skin without blemishes because you know when you don't have a lot of texture in your skin, literally anything works on you, right?
This is a joke, okay? We jokingly agree, you are being serious and responsible, you love beauty but it doesn't overwhelm you. Now we talked about what you could apply, cream blush or liquid blush, but let's talk about what you could apply your powder blush with and I. I know this seems very cartoonish right now, but I'm going to keep talking like this because I need to take my thumbnail photos. Well, here I gathered some brushes, although they are mainly used, so they have product, but these are the type of brushes. What would I use to apply blush?
This is a zero five brush from Refer. This is a Kat von Dum Lock It powder brush, but you'll find it with a black handle. An amazing brush for many other steps, not just for blush, but it also has I like that the perfect way to apply blush with another one of Refer is zero four again. It's super super nice. Laura Mercier also has a really nice brush for blush and I like this Misa too. Sometimes I use it as a bronzer. I would use it for blush, it really depends of course on the size of your face.
Let's be realistic. I have a very, very small face and I need smaller brushes. If you have a slightly larger face, this will be great not only for you. for blush but also for bronzer. Now the reason you don't want brushes like this one here is because it's obviously very large, so when you go to apply whatever blush you want to apply, it's going to spread over a much larger space than you want to get away from these brushes when it's about your powder blush, let's say the blush you have disappears very, very quickly. I don't care if you have dry, normal combination or oily skin, but let's say your blush disappears.
So this is what I suggest: you can first apply a cream product that you can press with your beauty sponge and then you can set it with a powder blush. It could be from the same color family or it could be slightly different, as I sometimes like. apply a warmer blush first like a soft peach color and then on top of that apply something that's a little bit more pink, it creates a beautiful beautiful color on your cheeks, for example, now I'm going to apply laura mercier rose and me. I will take this brush which is from the misa004 brush, I load my brush with product and then I slowly tap it on top of where I applied my cream blush, this will give it a little more intensity and will also give longevity to your makeup.
I promise you if you apply a cream blush and then a powder blush it will look amazing all day especially if you are taking photos or a video so you can see how beautiful and how it lifted my cheek with this type of application and also with this color. complements my skin tone don't forget that the last thing you apply on your face will be the first thing that comes off so applying a little more blush is not a problem but this is fine what you need to remember from this video Just like he does with the foundation, concealer, highlighter, bronzer, blush should be tailored to your own needs, to your own face, to your own skin condition, to your own skin color tone and undertone, so that you can't see the blush on someone and say, "Oh, what a blush he made." you wear unless they have similar skin tones to yours, let me know in the comments please, what information did I skip?
