Sean, what camera should I buy? What really is the difference? I wanted to delve into it specifically with these three models. One thing I should mention is that all three are solid cameras and have different strengths and weaknesses. First of all, it is important to note. that the Canon SL 2 at the time of recording this video costs $599 here in the US, also known as the 200 d internationally and that with the kit lens, the t 7i is the 800 d internationally and costs seven hundred ninety and nine dollars, so $200 more and then the 80 depth comes at the time of recording this video to one thousand forty-nine dollars with the same lens kit that is on the other cameras and of course, check the current prices on the YouTube description below, but there is definitely a price difference here, so now let's look at these similarities and differences, so the first thing to note is that these three cameras actually have the same sensor: it's an aps sensor. c of twenty-four point two megapixels and that means that depending on some of the other factors, you can get the same video and photo quality more or less with each of these, however, there are some differences and we will get into them.

You also get a flip screen on all three, so each of them is excellent. for YouTube content, whether you want to vlogging or even just record in a home office or a dorm room anywhere, being able to see yourself tapping the screen to autofocus, all that kind of awesome stuff on all three, Additionally, each one has Wi-Fi NFC and Bluetooth, so if you want to take photos or camera images when you're on the move, post them on social media, you can do that on all three and also they all have dual pixel autofocus, which is a big problem.

Because autofocus was so good at tracking faces in the past, especially in video mode, one of the most popular features that helps Canon stand out is the fact that autofocus is so amazing and one of the Impressive things are that they placed double pixel. autofocus on the SL two, so being a budget camera, it's really even with the others in that regard. Now, speaking of video, these cameras actually have a lot of things in common, one of which is that they all record 60 frames per second video. mode which means you can do 50% slow motion if you edit your footage at 30 frames per second and even slower if you edit at 24 frames per second and also they all have time lapse modes so this is something that Youtubers and vloggers of course love it because you can set up the camera, adjust the settings a little and then create a beautiful time lapse.

Those were some of the similarities that the three cameras have in common, but now let's jump into some of the differences now between the Canon SL 2 and T 7i are actually very similar and we won't go into that because I recorded a whole video comparing those two, so we'll link to it in the YouTube card and in the description. Next, one of the big differences that we're starting to notice between these two and the Canon TD is actually the battery, so these two actually have the e 17 battery and the adb introduces the e 6 battery, which is the that Canon uses in their most Pro line and you actually get 60% longer battery life with the Canon a DD.
Now one of the strong points that the t7 I and a DD have in common is that they both have 45 autofocus points, so they are both great. Cameras too now, the SL 2 can take excellent photographs. It has the same sensor but it only has 9 autofocus points so it won't be as good for wildlife, football games, motion but if you want to track your subject and really make sure you get that amazing shot , these two will be much stronger and speaking of photography, the t7 I at 80 depth definitely has some advantages as it has different and higher performance metering modes, it also has those autofocus points and as we review these cameras , how many frames of photography they can take per second increases, so the sl2 is 5 frames per second, the t7 is 6 frames and the Canon a DD is 7 frames, so why is the Canon a DD $450 more ? expensive than the SL 2 and $250 more expensive than the t7 mind you, well there are a few things and mainly where it comes into play is the build quality, one of the things you get with the Canon 80 depth is a sealed body against weather, you also get a lot of sturdy and heavy build quality, which could actually be a disadvantage if you want to use the camera for vlogging and carry it around a lot, you might not want some of the extra weight that comes with the ATD, but the quality Stop there, the Canon a TD also has this top view screen, something you could definitely live without if you're just shooting YouTube videos, but it's a nice feature so you don't have to always crouch down and look at the screen. for your settings, but you can just glance at them when you need to make some adjustments and if you're using this for professional photography or whatever, having things like that and an on and off button has a lot more functionality with the dials and the wheels.
It's designed to work in a professional video or photography situation and definitely has some standout video features as well. Now all three of these cameras have a microphone input jack, but the AVD also adds a headphone jack which is a great feature and it also has a more or less compressed video format when it comes to recording video, so the first two are 60 frames and all do what Canon calls IPB footage but they have a less compressed version on a DD called all so again a DD is more of a pro video if you want to use it for some video production and even for a camera of professional photography, but I would say that these two are more aimed at consumers but also prosumers, true, maybe you want to save some money, but If you still create great content, that's where the t-7 will live, while DD definitely points to future advancements, maybe even if you start with it, it's something you could take with you and scale as you learn more advanced skills and techniques.
With photos and videos now, a quick note to mention about the a DD is that because it is a slightly older camera, it actually has the digit 6 plus processor, while the t7 I and SL 2 have the digit 7 processor , now the processor can influence things. I like how fast the camera operates, but especially it can influence ISO performance and potentially in low light conditions. However, I don't even think this is something to consider too much because I don't see much difference in the final product. the photo or videos coming out of either camera, but just something to put on your radar, so now let's move on to some video examples from each of these cameras.
Here at think media, video is definitely our priority. There are many excellent YouTube channels that we would focus more on photography performance. For us we use photography for social media, but we use these cameras mainly for YouTube content to create video content and that's what we're going to talk about more so for this first series. For examples, we'll do the vlog test, so what would it look like if you were vlogging with each of these cameras? Now across the board we are using the 18-55 kit lens and the settings match on all cameras. so let's look at it well, test number one is with the Canon SL 2.
Now all of these tests will be done with the same settings, so we are at a shutter speed iso 100 125 because it is 60 frames per second of video and then 5.6 in the opening. I just use the kit lens and try this for vlogging so this is the SL what do you think? You are now looking at the Canon t7. Now both the SL 2 and the t7 have similar weights, they weigh almost exactly the same, so they are good for vlogging, we just keep it here and what I like about the kit lens that we are shooting all these videos with is that It has built-in image stabilization, so even though there is shakiness because we walk, it does too. softens the edges, you don't have any jitters and I also love these Canon cameras because of the dual pixel autofocus that tracks our faces well for vlogging on the go and finally we have the Canon to TD vlog, now try the video quality again between these cameras are quite similar because it is the same sensor and we are using the same ipb mode that all cameras have in common.
Now the ATD has a higher video quality mode for professional video, but just for vlogging you'd probably record on something like this. The setup here looks pretty good, so we did a standard video test and here's the SL 2 again, the kit lens on all the cameras and this is my wife Sonya walking towards the camera and this is where we can see the power of the Dual pixel autofocus following her while she walks, it's great. Then we tested the Canon T 7i and you're probably noticing it, but I'd love to hear from you in the comments.
Do these images look pretty similar? The video quality looks similar to yours, I definitely think so, but again it works great for the video quality and finally the Canon to DD also works very well, so Sonya just walks, we are doing the dual pixel autofocus, They all have touch screens and everything. Three cameras are definitely video powerhouses and I'd love to hear from you what you think about comparing the footage and then for our final test we wanted to do a couple of shots with that nice blurred background so right now you're looking at the Canon .
SL 2 and in fact we put the 1.8 50 millimeter lens on it. I really recommend this lens because for a hundred and twenty five dollars here in the US it has amazing image quality for both video and stills, so we put it on the t7. eye and again you can see that nice blurred background and what's also nice about these cameras is that they work quite well in this mixed light situation, there is a lot of bright light here as well as shadows but we can definitely see the details in each of are. scenes and then finally we put the 50 millimeter 1.8 on the Canon 80 D and again, really cool shot, that nice blurred background aka the bouquet in this shot looks great so I'd love to hear from you, what do you think about the differences? the similarities in video quality and which cameras you should choose well, let's move on to some of my final thoughts.
Firstly, the Canon SL 2 is the obvious winner when it comes to budget as it is the most affordable and it is also a great camera because it is nice, small and portable, so if you want something that is really versatile and that It may be the smallest possible of the three, maybe you use it for vlogging and creating YouTube content and it shoots great videos that are even on par with the other cameras in many aspects. In many ways, though, the SL 2's weakness is definitely the more advanced photography, the autofocus points and things like that, so if you were thinking more about I want that middle option, I want to shoot some video content but also want photographic performance, then the Canon T 7i is a great choice, similar to the SL 2, shoots excellent video, but includes many more features, with 45 autofocus points, an extra frame per second when shooting in burst mode and some other notable features.
I also think the Canon SL 2 and T 7i are great options for people just getting into photography or video. Each of them has a beginner mode that you can turn on or off, so if you're just starting out, they're great cameras to learn about, but you can do it. They also grow on them, these again are aimed more at the consumer market but also the prosumer market and each one of them is a camera that could be converted into, but of course the ultimate winner when it comes to professional photography and video It's of course the ATD you have a weatherproof body so it's designed to work on the road you can do some shooting in the rain you have the headphone jack and not just the microphone jack of the first two formonitor your audio and record video, and then you also have a lot more Pro features when it comes to photography and that higher compression bitrate for video, so if you plan on not just creating YouTube content, maybe from yourself on simple videos, but you also plan to do the video production you wanted to get. in color grading, even in making short films and things like that, then Ad D is the obvious choice, the only drawback is that it is the most expensive right and it is a little bulkier and a little heavier than the others, so each one of them, in short, is Great, it just depends on what you need most and your budget, but that brings us to the question of the day and that is what is your opinion when it comes to the Canon SL a t7 I on a DD, let me know in the comments section below and remember some of the
