For today's Monday

makeup

lesson, I'm going to show you how to create a classic

smokey

eye. It's one of those styles that looks so good on so many people and I have lots of tips and tricks to show you to make sure it works. perfect for you, so let's get started. The first step to achieving the perfect

smokey

eye is to make sure you are priming the lids and you can use

eyeshadow

primer or concealer, but what you really want is to make sure you are completely covering the lid. The eyelashes are lined up to the eyebrows to create a blank canvas.

This is to disguise any discoloration we might naturally have on our lids and also to give the

eyeshadow

something to hold on to, so you'll really want to leave your eyeshadow base or concealer alone for a while. A little sticky, this will really grab the shadow, however I have a little trick to make sure you get a good blend too, so we'll get to that in a second. With any eye

makeup

, the main areas of the eye would be: The crease area The crease area is really important in the smoky eye, if you think about what smoky is: it's that deep dark color that then fades into nothing.

The crease area is where that fade into "nothingness" occurs. The crease area is basically where the eyelid folds into the shape of the eye but it stops just below the brow bone and of course you also have to cover the eyelid and for a smoky eye I divide the eyelid into a top and bottom. Now as far as the eyeshadows go, I've created a little smoky palette for us and you want to tailor it to work with your own skin tone, so the first shade is what I call the base shade, so which is very similar to yours.

The skin tone could be a little bit lighter, then we have our contour shade, this should be a few shades darker than your own skin tone and then you have your medium tone and your medium tone is probably the most important one that a lot of people refer. as a transition shade it's somewhere between the base and the contour so that's why I call it mid tone because it's a medium tone and then we have our smoky shadow so our smoky shadow is basically any type of smoky eye that you want to create I'm going to create a black one so let's start this look by taking a brush to blend our base shade and this is my little trick to get that perfect blend.

Basically we're going to start in the crease of the eye and then work under the brows, so you want to

apply

this space shade to create a silky powder effect, but avoid the lid, we want the lid to stay a little tacky because of the concealer and the base, we want that crease to be really powdery. easy to blend, by

apply

ing that powder we are basically going to create a smoother and easier blend, remember how I said, the concealer and foundation give the shadows something to hold onto well, this powder foundation will ensure that we have something to blend and that's how you get that perfect smooth blend just make sure to avoid letting the eyelid go down too much keep it from the crease to the eyebrows.
For the next step we're going to continue with the same blending brush and I haven't cleaned it up we're going to go with our mid tone or mid tone or a transition shade and we're going to start with everything that we've already applied but we're going to stop below the brow bone , the first shadow was from the fold up. under the brows avoiding the eyelid and use this little diagram as a representation of what we're doing here, we start in this crease area and then gently blend upwards if you're not sure where to stop and start the blend that you basically want.
Keeping it between these two parallel points seems very complicated, but it basically consists of using the edge of the nose and eyebrow on one side and then creating a parallel line on the inside corner. If you blend outside the lines, don't worry because I can always clean up at the end, just use this as a guide, then we'll grab a clean blending brush and I always have the clean blending brush on hand for every look, but particularly when you're doing a smoky eye, go over everything. that you have applied to soften the harsh lines, no additional product is needed, just soften those lines.
Now we're going to move on to applying the contour and I need you to grab a brush that has a lot of control, so maybe a flat brush or a pencil brush or a brush like this one, which is somewhere in between, it's one of my favorites and , taking a little bit of that contour shade, which is one of the darker shades in this palette, we're going to apply this. across the entire lid area, so I want you to keep this just up to the lid, taking it up to where the medium shade starts in the crease, but don't go beyond that point, really focus on the roots of the lashes and gently blend this . draping the eyelid over and over, try to avoid blending this too high because that can ruin the look you want.
Keep it nice, deep and low, so we're going to end up with a deep dark look right at the roots of the lashes. and then it fades upwards, fading into that mid-tone, into that crease and under the eyebrows next. I want you to take a small flat brush, something that you have more control over and I want you to take your smoky shadow so that any smoky shadow that you're using I'm using black and there are two ways you can apply this: you can bring your hand up the lash line or you can continue from the front, as you can see my lash line is more or less at the level of my nose as I apply this, I am applying it using the roots of the lashes as a guide and following the natural shape of the lash line tabs.
If you have your hand too low at this point, you'll blend that black too much and I don't want you to do that, so try to keep it around cheek level or place your hand over the top and press down on the lash line. ; either way, imagine you're creating a liner look, just cover with those lashes and really pack them in there, get in between those lashes right on the lash line, it's very important that we have to imagine that black is coming from somewhere, so it has to start very dark at the base. Now, to shape it, I like to have it a little thicker right in the center (it's almost like an oval shape).
This will create that classic round shape that you get with a smoky eye, so it's slightly tapered inside and out and higher in the middle, before we go any further what I want you to do is take the pad of your finger and press really that pigment, push it right onto those lashes, no smudging, no mixing, just pushing, that's going to remove any residue and at the same time we're going to make sure that we're really packing that pigment right into the roots of the lashes once you've got it done, then you can take your little blending brush or a pencil brush and gently and lightly blend this, look at the placement of your hands here, what I want you to remember is that if your hand is low your blend is going to be high and that's a good I start because we want to take that black from the roots of the lashes up to about the middle of the eyelid, but if you keep your hand this low throughout the blending process you'll end up pushing it up, bring the brush up slightly as you start to blend, regain control over that brush and very gently sweep back and forth and this will prevent you from blending too high, you don't want it to go over the eyelid and get into that crease area depending on the look you're doing of course, but particularly for a classic smokey eye, keeping it nice and low next to the lashes is the best way to achieve that classic look.
I usually divide the eyelid in two. sections so I have a bottom part on a top part. I'm making it sound very complicated, but it's actually not that complicated, but if you learn these techniques it will be easier even though it seems like I'm making it harder than it is. The next step is really important and is to go really dark between the lashes, so apply a pencil liner on the waterline, which is the tight top line of the eyelid. What I like to do is just look down in a mirror and just push up between them.
The lashes will create that dark smoky look. You have to imagine where this smoky depth is coming from and it should hit right between your lashes, so try placing the pencil right there. Another important thing is to cover those eyelashes. In fact, I brush my eyelashes. down to make sure it's really dark right at the roots once again to create the illusion that the depth is coming from the lash line, essentially it looks like we have very thick lashes, if you want to take it a step further you can always apply an invisible eyeliner yes If you watch my videos a lot you'll know I've talked about this, basically it's about lining very very thinly right between your lashes as close as possible and I also went ahead and applied some falsies, again this creates the illusion of deep darkness. looks directly at the roots, so that's pretty much all the work done, but we still have a lot of work to do.
You have to cleanse under the eyes because keeping it as clean and bright as possible will create that contrast with the smoky. Be careful, so don't stop doing this. You should also clean up under your brows by taking a little bit of the base shade and a small brush and applying it to your brow bone. We've already applied it, but reapplying it will actually brighten it. and you can also apply a little of this shadow on the inner corner of the eye. I like to imagine that this smoky eye is coming from my lash line and you don't have lashes there, so try to lighten them slightly, not chef. with lots of mascara to balance out the top and there you have a classic smokey eye and you can use these techniques to create any number of different looks but I love that deep dark look that starts at the roots of the lashes and blends upwards if you try it. this look  I would love to hear from you, you can also send me a photo and if you have any problems I am always here to help you so leave a comment and I will try to get back to you, check out the other videos. on the screen press the like button   if you learned something press the subscribe button  if you are new and see you next time.
