quilt

is for you and as a bonus we will have a bonus video giving you more ideas for

quilting

walking

feet. Let's get to it, so here are the unlimited men, the precuts that I'm going to use and What's so fun is that the colors have a nice gradation, so we'll see a lot of different colors.

Now this pattern is called Weave it B and it uses fabric placement and all the different colors to create an interesting look that is really easy. To put together, you can see I have the pinks and the purples, all these beautiful colors and if you want more details on the pattern, they are in the description box below. Well, I have to cut the precuts, so let's start cutting mmm, that's it. a floral bouquet with cotton now we're going to take my precut strips, my two and a half inch strips and we're going to cut them into rectangles and if you're a newer quilter, I've been reading the comments, I know. some of you watching have never made a quilt if you've been thinking about it this is the time to do it and the nice thing about precuts is that obviously they're already precut but you get a range of colors that don't No I have to go to the trouble of thinking about what colors were used in the quilt, so it turns out very pretty.

More Interesting Facts About,

What I'm doing is just selecting some strips, stacking them on top of each other, and then cutting them. them using my rotary cutter and my ruler now these are really the only things you need to get started besides a sewing machine of course so if you have a culture in your life maybe you can use steel or I mean ask I borrowed something from them and that's how I started, my husband's grandfather taught me how to quilt and I would just borrow his stuff but I would eat it up in my mind so it was cool.

Now that I place the strips you can start to see the ombre color coming out, the placement of the color will create a fun effect when we put them together and all these little rectangles will form a really nice block that is easy to put together. I like to mix colors as I cut, so it doesn't matter pretty orange or pretty blue, and that's what I love. Newer quilters is that you don't have bad habits, so you're way ahead of the rest of us. It's the quilters more seasoned with our bad habits that tend to get into trouble when it comes to

quilting

now that I'm a little bit me.

The first thing I'm going to do is cut that selvage, we don't need it so it's just going to be cut off and then when I cut the next one I'm going to use my ruler to line it up on the fabric and cut the binding that I want it to be, for example I want it to be This rectangle is ten inches long so all I have to do is set the ten inch line along that edge and then cut and this is great because yes I've never cut with rotation before. These nice short pieces make it easy to practice, but never forget to close the rotary cutter.
There won't be any accidents when cutting, especially at this time of night, so I'll just keep cutting this into rectangles and it'll be time to cut. the background fabric now, this black background will really make those bright colors pop and when you cut larger pieces of fabric, the best thing to do is have a drink, no, no, I really am, you should be the best. What I do is make sure the selvage is folded over to cover those ends and if you have a smaller mat you can even fold it again, but I'll make sure both sides are nice and parallel so that will give me a nice straight cut .
I'm going to straighten that edge and I need to cut two and a half inch strips per wof that's not WTF wf means fabric width, so I'm going to cut the entire strip. I'm lining it up on two and a half inch lines and then I'll subcut them into smaller rectangles. Okay now you can choose the colors that you will use in your quilt and each block uses two colors, it doesn't matter which one you choose but try to choose a darker shade and a lighter one because it will create this interesting weaving effect, trust me we'll get there in a second , so I think I'm going to go with this and you can send a lot of sticks here if you want too. like oh, I love the juxtaposition of the peach and the blue, but once you decide which two colors you're going to use in your block, we're going to match it to our background fabric and what we're going to do is sew a background strip. fabric on each side of one of the colors and that will make a unit of strips or a set of strips, so I will sew the first two together placing the right sides together.
The nice thing about this solid fabric is that it doesn't have a right side, but if it were a print, I would like to make sure the right sides are together. Now I'm using the quarter inch presser

foot

that comes with the machine and that will help me make sure it's nice and precise because we really want the seam to be a little bit close. to a quarter inch and then we have the first part of our strip unit and I just do the same thing on the other side and the first strip unit is done, but I'm not going to iron it yet because I'm going to do the same thing with the other fabric for the background strips on each side and then flat, okay, I want to cut these out, but I don't need to iron them yet, so I'm going to turn them over and we'll flatten them out. seams so that when we go to cut it we have a good cut and in the pattern she has us pressing it towards that center so I'm going to use my small iron and just press it gently now I'm not stretching it or pushing it. down because that can distort it, although it feels a little more satisfying to really squish it, but I'm going to frame it and keep it looking nice and flat and if you're stitching it's a little bit more creative, you can use a little bit flatter just to help give it a little more, turn it one last time and do the same on the other side.
Now this particular kit has the background black instead of white, so this is one of those rare occasions where I'm not actually pushing towards the dark side, flip it. I love the last little spray just to give it a little finishing touch, so now I used to turn my cutting mat over and we'll cut it into sections. like I made the strips before I used my ruler, make these cute little kisses and I'm going to take four of these out of each unit of strips and see if it's eight different little units and I love man because you're starting to see some of those different colors left okay, let's put all this together and turn it into a block so that the first block is laid out and ready to go.
One thing I want to point out is that you will have some extra pieces left over. Don't worry, you're not wrong, that just means we'll use them for another block down the road, but now I can see how fun it looks. I'm starting to see that we have come together and it looks great now when you are designing your first block, if you have never made an appointment before you might freak out like I did when I started quilting and think they don't match, everything will be fine once that things together. Seam allowances come into play and really take care of you when it comes to putting this block together.
I'm really just going to sew them together in pieces, well let's see how that happens, so the four sections are now together. I've given them a quick Press and now I'm going to sew them together in a row and I'm going to sew those rows together and my first block will be finished. Okay, it's the final scene of the block, but for the first time we'll have matching seams, which means I kind of want these little things that come together when we sew it, so it's not scary at all. All I'm going to do is put them right sides together and use pins to help keep it in place.
I'll just try to line them up. Lift it up as much as you can so they are on top of each other and use that pin to help hold it up. I'm going to do the same with the other one now if you've ever seen an episode of the sleepwear

show

. You probably know that I'm not very particular about perfection, so let's get as close as possible. I always say that a finished quilt is better than a perfect quilt, so don't worry too much about perfection, just try. to bring it closer and if it doesn't work right you have a lot more blocks to practice on, now that it's all together I'm going to take it to the machine and sew it on, and these are nice, thin, cute little pins, but I won't sell them yet because I don't want to break them my needle, that's no fun, so when I get close to the pin I'll just stop pulling it out and then continue there, we're not doing too bad.
I'm going to press. this and then do the rest of the blocks to finish the first row of blocks and I will place them and see how they look now there is one thing about these blocks: there are no color placements that you have to use, there is no way to turn them into something wrong , they are completely interchangeable, so don't worry. What I'll usually do is lay out the first row and then see what the colors look like, but that's nice, that means it's up to you how. do you want it to look like this when i place it i'm just thinking if this looks good no i know it's very artistic but the idea is that you are the one using it so if you don't want two equal blocks next to each other and then just slide them if you don't want the pink to go this way just rotate the block.
I think sometimes as quilters we tend to worry too much about the details when we just need to place it and sew. together, so when I'm going to sew the blocks together in a row, what I'm going to do is I'm going to sew them together in groups of two and then sew the groups together, so let's start with the second row, we can really start to see. all the fun colors that will be in this quilt, one thing I want to point out is that we will have some of these different colors next to each other and that's okay, it's supposed to be like this, we're not going to freak out or anything, I'm just going to sew this together and put together the rest of the quilt top and this quilt top is finished all that's left to do is quilt it you know I love to quilt with a free motion quilting

foot

but we.
Tonight we'll take it easier and use the moving foot option. This is great for newer machine quilters or if you want some nice straight geometric lines, and I happen to have a free bonus video that

show

s you some quilting tips if your

walking

foot, you can find information about that in the box. description below well let's get to the quilting okay I edged my quilt I sprayed my quilt sandwich and if you're agricultural and you're not sure what it all entails you can check out a really cool video I made around the Thanksgiving showing you how to baste your quilt sandwich and what I'm going to do is use the quilting to enhance the look of the fabric of this quilt and I'm going to use the walking foot to do that so what I'm doing is running my machine foot along this piece and that helps me keep the quilting lines straight, which I'm going to get close enough because close enough is good enough and then what I'm going to do is add another on the other side using the other side of your foot to go around the edge of that piece.
One thing I want to point out is that for the thread I am using a Light to Medium Gray when you choose just one color of thread for so many different colors of fabric. I like to use a neutral that doesn't show up too much on any of the colors, so this gray won't be too drastic when I get the background fabric and it won't show up too much even on that orange fabric, so what I'm doing is just align the presser foot on that side of the piece and the nice thing about this technique for machine quilting is that it's great for

beginner

s because the protractors do all the work or it's great when you want to get those lines kind of straight so I'll just keep making those lines vertical.
Well, I have a couple of quilted rows that we can see here. how it's really improving the look of that design, now the fun thing is I'm going to keep doing all those vertical lines and then I'm going to turn it around and do the same thing on these strips and what it's really going to do is create this fun woven look the The reason I do one direction before the other is that let's say I finish one direction and I decide that's enough, then I can go ahead and stop, but I think I'm going to go ahead and finish it all. tonight if you love this quilt pattern you can find the information about it as well as the quilting chart that I have put together for you and it shows you the option of early delivery or staying up all night which adds a little extra .
Padding and information for that video on how to use your walking foot, you can find it in the description box below. Well, I'll go ahead and finish this. See you in a moment and there you have it. It looks a lot harder than it is thanks to those ombre fabrics and fun fabric placements, plus the machine quilting, which is great whether you're new to machine quilting or just want some straight lines. Don't forget we have that bonus video that gives you more tips. using your walking foot and we have all the information about it in the description box below, make sure to comment here and let me knowwhat's your favorite part of this quilt and make sure to subscribe, you won't want to miss any of these episodes. from the great
