Bedroom Makeover ~ Faux Shiplap ~ Farmhouse Style Bedroom ~ Shiplap Wall ~ Shiplap DIY

Feb 27, 2020
I'm very excited about today's video. I'm planning to do a complete renovation of my

bedroom

, so the plans I have for this room are to firstly get new bedding. We have had this comforter set for years and you may not be able to make it. I say it in the video but it's lumpy and discolored so it's time to do something else and I might as well look for real nightstands instead of just using these little tables I've had for years. It would be nice to have them. a clothes, you know, a small door or drawers as a nightstand and then I have mixed feelings, but I think the wood panels will have to go on both sides of the window.

I still like how they look, but the plan I have for this. back

wall

it won't work to have these panels there, so my plan for this

wall

is that I will try to get the

shiplap

look without actually putting

shiplap

there. I've done shiplap before where I just used strips of wood, you know? attach them to the wall, but in this case I'm going to draw the shiplap on the wall. I know it sounds crazy, but I saw on Pinterest where people sometimes do that and I'm going to try it. I really have nothing to do.

If it doesn't work, I can always paint over it and add real shiplap or leave it as is, so I decided to use a piece of shiplap we had cut for my room outside the shop. to trace, you know my lines and I ended up using a shorter piece, then eventually it was easier to handle as the piece wasn't as long and wobbly at first when I drew, you know, the first two lines or so I thought. Oh, will this be it? work, but as I continued to draw those lines and sometimes I would stand back and look at it and it actually looked like a real overlap, so I'm really impressed at how easy it is to achieve this look and I know that without spending almost any of the marker I used To draw these lines it was a Sharpie paint marker with a medium tip and in hindsight I think I would probably look for a dark gray one next time, I'm not even sure if they have them or not. but I think just a lighter shade would look more like a drop shadow than a black one, but this will work too, so I'm really hoping I can use the same hardware that holds the old blinds up right now for the new blinds, but I'll see, no I'm very sure if they will fit or not and you guys will have to excuse the air conditioner that is still in the window here in cold Ohio.

Honestly, we use it every night, we just turn on the fan. I guess it's worse and my husband, but I love hearing the sound of the air conditioning fan and I sleep much better. I am a very light sleeper and unfortunately my husband snores so that blocks out the noises and I can really get a good night's rest. It's working, but I realize it looks very, very unsightly. These blinds are from Amazon. We have one like this and another color for our bathroom that we love. They are very easy to use. I just pushed them up and then down and luckily I was able to do it.

I used the original hardware from the other blinds for these, so I ended up just gluing the header legs into the spreem area. It's not even really attached here, but it seems to be pretty sturdy. The reason I did it is if I just placed the header. You know, the studs in the floor disappeared behind the pillow that I want to place along the front here to add a little more height. We can always hold them. You know another way. I think maybe down here just drill a little. holes in the frame, but for now I think I'll leave it like this so I can see what it looks like.
I decided to use the side tables I had in the living room for the nightstands. I think they would fit easily. perfectly here with the

bedroom

. I had made a video about them about a year ago where I used milk paint to remake them. It's amazing what you can come up with just by moving things around, sometimes avoiding going out to buy furniture or other items, so while I was unfolding this rug I thought it was too big. I had just gotten a larger size because there wasn't much difference in price with the second two. It's the size versus the largest.
You thought surely he had room. Here it is, oh my god guys, I'm not sure what's wrong with me. I'm having a hard time putting this comforter inside the stove. I admit I've never done this before. I wonder if any of you have anything. tips for me, but I finally realized I had placed the quilt in the wrong position, so once I had it the right way, it was a little easier too, but I love the way it looks. Really impressed, you know, it's always a little scary to say, ordering something online without you knowing how to touch it and feel it and see what it's really like, but I couldn't be more impressed with this case, the fake cases, so the whole time I thought about I'll probably end up putting curtains behind the headboard, since the window is a little narrow and the headboard is a little wide.
I think adding curtains would bring that dimension I need behind the headboard, so that's what I plan to do and I'm done. I only bought twin flat sheets for my curtains. I couldn't get real curtains at Walmart today so I figured I couldn't beat the price. I think it was five dollars in a few cents a sheet and it's just a nice soft white fabric. that will work perfect for curtains and I don't really have to sew anything. I think I'll be able to use them as they are. We haven't had a lot of snow this winter here in Northeast Ohio but luckily we did have a little bit today my son came home after school they didn't have school because of the snow so he really enjoyed that so for these curtains /sheets I only used the bottom part of the sheet and folded it about six to eight inches. and then I attached it to the little rod clips and that lifted it up enough off the floor, you know it looked like a curtain and then it also gave it a nice look with kind of a balance on the top.
I used to sell these scrolls. my Etsy shop when I get it so I have one more left that I thought would be suitable for this wall here, so what I want to do here is replace this image with a more recent one, of course, you can never go wrong with having a new one. bouquet of flowers in a room to brighten it up so I hope you enjoyed this room
