the

dbx,

this

crucial model for

aston

martin

in its history, it has never made an suv before and it has been working on this car for 2015 and it is a market in expansion at the moment with the bentayga bentley bentayga the lamborghini euros is selling very well Aston really wants to capture some of that market so I was really looking forward to getting this car because it's not often that you get to

review

a new car from scratch and that's what the dbx represents Aston even had to build a new factory in Wales to build this car it starts at £158,000 in the UK as this car weighs in at £194,000 with a few extras let's look at it in more detail and take a look closer look.

It's very obvious that it's an Aston Martin with that Aston Martin grille on the front and the badge. Actually, everything is scaled up on this car. It must be the biggest accident ever seen. Without a doubt we are the tallest. It is five meters long. It probably has to be the It's also longer, so to keep everything in proportion, everything's been widened, everything you look at it comes with standard 22-inch wheels, there's no other wheel option, it's air-suspended, it's in position Under normal driving, I could have lowered it. 50 grand for an entry size if that's what you want, it's got goodies, let's say this car, I think it's a very attractive car, but Aston Martin has definitely taken the off-road capability of this car very seriously as well.

More Interesting Facts About,

They have really looked at the approach angles that you see in the front, there is no kind of spoiler that really hangs down to catch things, it is quite good that the suspension, being air suspension, can be raised another 45 thousand from this position and then at the back you can also see it's all hidden so you're going over a bumpy section of a field or whatever or a track you shouldn't catch on anything that's the plan it actually has a distance quite a long wheelbase and this is a good thing, when we get out on the road you'll see what it does to the handling, but it makes the tailgate a decent size and well, we open the doors right now, but it just gives more interior space.

It's a bit surprising this car, it's very well thought out, I like the sculpture, that sort of distinctive scale that you see on a lot of Asters, this design detail, which is proper ventilation on the front wheel, is also very active. and they say they've actually looked at where the mud sticks on the car and try to minimize the mud buildup spots, which is actually quite clever, it means also in the back there's a little rear view camera that doesn't can Look, because it only deploys when you select reverse, you wouldn't think Aston would go into that kind of detail, but that's the level of thought that's been put into this car, standard brakes on this steel brakes, four ten thousand discs uh, six-piston front calipers.

I think 390 in the back quite a few um, the urus. I'm always quite impressed because it actually came with carbon discs as standard, but not so here. I don't think they're on the options list, either, the lights are down here. actually these little circular ones light up and it's actually a duck for the break, so you actually put your hand through it, you just open the front again, typical Aston big clamshell bonnet on this thing , go up and there these extraordinary ones are shown. These aluminum castings here for the suspension towers and this reinforcement, a lot of reinforcements are being done and the four liter amg V8, this is a hot turbo, since the terms of the two turbochargers are there, you actually see it inside of the v, it's not a place you want. to be hand built in wales lee break um yes lee break is actually the one who can help build the car and he signed it from what i understand, he's not the engine manufacturer because obviously that comes directly from amg, it's actually the build of the set.
The car is actually quite impressive under here, one thing I did notice was the wading ability. These two here are the air intakes. If I really look at the grill, they're actually right above the radiator, that's where this engine breathes from, but just to note, this is. I rather notice it as a farmer, but the wading depth of the car has a power of 500 thousand, which is very good, but it is not like a 600 thousand Range Rover that they make and can have the bow wave kissing in the upper part because in a Range Rover, actually the engine breathes from some kind of chimneys down here, they are placed inside the hood, with that inlet, it makes an arc wave, the water

will

go to the engine, it is not at all a criticism of the Aston, that's like everyone else. other than some sort of land rover, do it, um, but keep in mind don't go into a river that's this high and think you're going to pass your dbx, you're nothing in this hood that I can't get over.
The hinges we looked at, the hinges are beauti

y designed and the struts, how it's all hidden. There is someone who makes hinges at Aston, which is very important because the one on the rear door is quite special. Also leave this, big big mirrors. I have to enlarge the mirrors depending on the size of the vehicle, which is why they are larger. I like this detail. You get it in black if you want and the roof rails, you can carry quite a bit of weight up there, I want to say 100 kilos, but it's something like that, who would have thought you'd have a roof rack on an Aston Martin on the back?
You've got this spoiler here that brings air through here with no rear wiper, they say it'll stay clean with the air that goes through with this little guy. from spoiler on fire here I thought this did something but it doesn't it's actually fixed here the lights come on here this brake light comes on here and this is your third brake light then it joins the brake on the way through how that works when When you're specifying your car, you can decide whether to have the Aston Martin lettering on there or not and the badge, you can do it in black or chrome and some other really nice finishes inside the reasonably sized boot.
I actually like the way you get these runners and you get the tabs there as standard, this is, I can't do it, um leather really quite stiff and substantial, and here you get a spare wheel space saver that actually it's an option, other weird stuff here where you can make it go up and down. You can make the air suspension go up or down depending on how you want to position someone behind, they actually make things like dog backpacks for this and they have a mat that comes in here so it doesn't scratch your beautiful aluminum here. or your carbon here, nice touches like that.
Oh, and I can lower the seats too. If I just touch them, they move down and get caught in the seat belt, but it's actually pretty big. If I just do that, it's pretty big. Start up, here we go and you can even attach a tow bar to the back of this one. It's not really gone, but it has a towing weight of 2700 kilos on this car. They've developed a lot with a trailer and an Aston Martin with That kind of weight capacity is pretty special, but you can't have an electric tailgate and things like that.
One thing I'm not so sure about is that it has a sports exhaust. I'm really not sure how this all ends up here. The individual outlets look a little tight or a little bad at the rear and I really don't like all this use of carbon fiber. It's one of my complaints. I've mentioned it on other cars too, that's £9995 to use sir. Having that in carbon fiber is crazy, it's a big part of that price. The other big extra on this car is this color. color wheel option weighing about 1495 lbs has this design there are several designs to choose from but there are more etc. enough in the garage let's take it outside and take it for a spin right before we leave.
I want to show you a couple. From the outside stuff, this is actually a US spec car because Aston law has organized this glorious launch in Palm Springs, California for the launch of the dbx in April and then the world stopped so they had to do that kind of pitch. locally here in the UK so the cars went back to being US spec cars but you'll notice things like this this lights up and it's not on the UK space car but the other thing I want to show you is actually how well thought out it is.
The doors are on this car. I open the front door. There are some things I really like. There's a rubber seal right down there on this one so it never gets dirty. Wherever you take it, it

will

always remain clean. And the other thing. as a flat floor there is no big windowsill so you get eaten easily, it sounds silly but I'm also very impressed with that frameless door and if I walk in the back if you can hear something in the background it's very exciting. woodpecker, it came on as soon as the camera started rolling, um, get in the back again, the size of that door and the fact that the wheel is so long that the wheelbase doesn't fit, I can get in here very easily and I'm six feet taller, look at the space I have here, huge, huge space, there are things you can adjust, they're not on right now, but that's all climate control and stuff, and heated seats that would normally light up when you use these little ones. things to adjust it the other thing I wanted to show you there's a crazy hinge you know I mentioned the hinge on the bottom it was another crazy hinge down here on the door if I use all that you see all that dirt moving I've never seen one door hinge like this, I think it's very strange anyway, enough of the practicalities, let's jump to the other side, play that little tune every time you come and go, done, here we are, dbx, now right away, I would say this . it's aston's best interior of their regular production cars it's a dbs head and 11 and vantage it has a more integrated feel that separate screen is gone which I don't really like on those cars um this more integrated look this this bridge up here bring these taller ones fit the car and this huge space underneath now I have my phone there it's charging on a platform and there's plenty of storage in the dbx shot number one but I have deep pockets in the doors.
I can put bottles there. I also have a container. I have this type of bottle holder. If I just slide them up, I can have the armrest covering them or I can move them back however you want. have them, um, very well made wheels, aluminum paddles, controls on the steering wheel, slight groan, I think the airbag is one of those larger airbags than these shrunken airbags that you can get now. I'm surprised they didn't use a smaller wheel, but yes, really. very good and I press the start button, I move the engine towards the steering wheel, I haven't been able to stop that, why is he angry?
I don't have a seatbelt in parking lots anymore, yeah, and it starts with a pretty energized kind of ticking. Also, I've noticed this every time I turn it on, it's you know the engine, I think it's hot, yeah it's a temperature, but it just starts on power and I have it set to GT mode, which I do with these mode buttons here . I can choose exactly how I have it and there are many of them because you go from individual to sport to sports more and then in the other direction you go to terrain and terrain more new ventures for Aston Martin, but as I say, GT is what it is. goes and then the family gearbox controls these buttons up here.
I have to say I think this is starting to look a little dated now these buttons up here and I'm wondering if there's a better way to do it but I'll leave that to the designers at Aston but I'll press d to drive and we'll drive away really nicely done the bubbling there are no butters to control the exhaust it scans quickly I don't think there is but if I choose individual if I lower one I have a slightly better exhaust and a gearbox with more energy and things like that but anyway my Front-wheel drive isn't the place to demonstrate all of this, so I'll fade away and you'll join me on some better roads in a few moments.
It doesn't take me long to realize that this is a different type of Aston. It's not just the fact that I'm sitting a little higher, but it feels like I'm open. Visibility is excellent. I have this panoramic roof. It's standard. the panoramic glass roof really suits it and just adds a kind of relaxing feeling, the other thing is the way it drives and where it goes, you know you're in a good car when in the first few hundred meters you said that This is it. Not only does it feel comfortable, it just suits your mood, you just think there's no harshness, faster steering than you expect, all the controls are well weighted and you think, well, this is a pretty nice place. to pass the time, do a few kilometers and that's the feeling you get from this car in the first moments of starting.
It is a very smart air suspension. It has the latest generation of three cameras. It's a pretty high-tech thing, but air suspension is a good idea in an SUV, a sporty SUV. because it means that you can very easily vary the height ofhandling and that's what you want for an SUV because you don't always want to be in the air so the initial range speed was unstable because they wanted the ground clearance to increase. going over things, but when he took it to the asphalt, oh, and suddenly you were heavy and moving and then he put anti-roll bars on it and then it wasn't so good off-road, so being able to vary the ride.
The height just from having air chambers is the reason why SUVs hit them but I'm not interested, I'm on a favorite bitter road and I want to try it around here now, the first thing I have here is a proper compression, I put it in individual, which just accelerates, yes it is very difficult, this card had great compression, the car just didn't notice, but now we have a little more complaints coming from That V8 turns it on, it has this 48 volt anti-roll system , so the engine actually acts on the stabilizer bar. The dynamic quality they offer to a car is extraordinary and this is a feeling that I am just getting started.
Very well organized. In fact, I usually don't take it. I'm going to take a different path where I know there are a series of wicked potholes that everything deviates from. I want to test this car there because I think I could do it. really quite good, anything I have noticed slightly about this car it just has a slight pattern sometimes just from the wheel, it is light, it has very stiff rubber bushings or something, there is a slight noise from something in the suspension, you should notice it . It's not annoying, but it's just there in the background.
We got a chance to take them off the road and do some silly things when I picked him up. There were the launchers at Silverstone, they had a little off-road circuit there that did everything. Well, the most impressive thing is when you look underneath this car, the beauti

y machined aluminum braces that looked like on the rear suspension, they had a sort of Zonda look to them. Unfortunately, there is a biker up there, but this is one of the meaner ones. Well it will appear a little later so I discovered this belt when I was in the zonda and a lot of carbon fiber was removed while we were going through it and it's not this one it's just up here it could be completely undramatic here we go that's it that's it It was exciting wasn't it, that's a good thing, it's very impressive, he just crushed it but it didn't come back on the rebound, it was like it wasn't there, normally it's a Rolls-Royce trick.
Oh my God, you know what I'm going to turn around and do that again because that's stupid here we go I'm going to speed up again and see what happens in the other direction and here it is and there it's the most boring thing. I could probably do a little video, but it's incredibly impressive how much actual suspension travel they have in this car and some genius in the chassis department, I guess in the name of Matt Becker, never say it. that, but um, it's done wonders for this car to be able to swallow a hit like that, Megan absolutely mega, so just with the brakes, they don't do it with the initial pressure, it doesn't inspire the confidence that you might expect again, referenced in the urus again. which had a very solid pedal and carbon brakes and these feel a little overwhelmed when you press it initially, you press it and they are fine, I actually took the car to the track and did several laps, it was a lot of fun, really taking this round again . the anti-roll system and stability control really came into their own, they are quite difficult to disable in an aston because you have to go through several screens to get there, but it was reasonably weak in the sport, plus we should say, but again, the brakes. they were the weak link, you definitely felt like the car was heavy, it weighs 2200 kilos in my bin justin, which is a little bit lighter than, say, Aston, but it only had half a tank, but the anti-roll technology we have today is so smart that it's The 48-volt system on this front and rear only means the wheels can move up and down when you're on a rough road, but as soon as it detects electric steering, you know you're turning. into the corner, then tighten that side and with the link shocks you can also tighten using those as well, there are a couple of fun corners here.
I'm going down to individual. In fact, you could go manual, so press the power button. in four thirds nine speeds to choose from in this car let's go and challenge how it turns there oh my goodness yours felt a little big here and the oris yeah yours had rear steering this doesn't have rear steering strangely. I'm not missing it, I think it's the trunk, look at that, but SUVs are not fun to drive. Sorry, we haven't driven the dbx. So, summing up this car, what's not to like? Well, I'll start with the price. very soon it reaches 200 000 pounds 158 000 starting price euros it's a surprise at 100 I think it starts with 90 extra horsepower and then you have the bentley v8 which starts at about 138 I think that's it 158 yeah that's quite a lot of money going back to individuals, it's my favorite bands that are about to appear, but again, I can understand how it happened, it's 285 in the front, 325 in the back, but the power coming out of there is not crazy, fast, Eurus is Crazy. of the group, but it's pretty fast, um, but yeah, back to the price, I think it's because Aston only has one model, bentayga and eurus kn, and they all belong to the same projects, parts are shared there and we see how they work.
I've saved money by doing that, the other thing I'm not so sure about is that it seems to have a bit of an appetite for fuel, as you'd expect, so I've done 149 miles and as things stand I'm about 12.3 mpg this is a US spec car so that's a bit of a gallon so I multiply it by 20 but it only brings it up to about 15 16 mpg and on a cruise it's like that I don't think it's going to work as well. as well as some of the others with cylinder deactivation, although it is also in this car, it has an 85 liter tank and you will have a lot of fun, but now you will also put a lot of fuel in it.
I'm going to mention the brakes, the Eures has carbon discs as standard, 440k carbon disc and it never runs out, or just highlights its performance, it's a faster car and it's only a few thousand dollars more expensive than this one. I think it should have a carbon option, but at least that's what I'd spend the money on instead of £10,000 for that carbon diffuser, but when we get to the likes, there's a lot of that number one usability, really. I was surprised from the moment I came into this here. It's a car and an Aston I would happily drive every day and it's very well thought out.
There is a female brand advisory board. I think they've really knocked it out of the park, it's just just storage, comfort, doors, seals, no mud, a lot of stuff like that. the practicality is very well thought out and it's his first time, so the habitability and usability of both, but you know, it suits me well. My wife likes it too. Children like that there is plenty of space in the back. Fantastic, so I have to mention the dynamics, it's not only good. Spectacular, it is almost a leader in its class. I need to put the two next to each other to make sure, but it's right there, it's right at the top, the damping is awesome, it absorbs bumps and the way the chassis breathes with the road is incredible, its anti-roll system.
Fool yourself that you're not in an SUV, you're in a normal Aston, absolutely fantastic and really happy because it's a new card, he didn't really know what to expect, okay I've had it for two days now but oh my god. They have been two excellent days. I have been very impressed with this car. I didn't know what to expect. New accidents have a reputation for going well either way. Excellent. It's a pleasure to be in it. It's one of those cars where you can. I just see living and being very happy, maybe there is nothing that bothers the fuel consumption, but as a usable car, I am very happy to say that this is a really nice exceptional aster and it really deserves to be a success, and you know what I think. that's how it will be, there you have it, that's the aston martin dbx.
