Jun 06, 2021

classic

turell

workshop

today you don't find me in the

workshop

per se you find me in another workshop a little further from home near Cape Town in South Africa to be precise this is the front shock absorber

motor

workshop Museum , which is a fantastic

museum

, they have great cars in their collection and I'm going to meet Wayne Harley who is the curator. The

museum

is located in the stunning South African wine region. It's just an amazing place and the last time I was there. here in 2019 I was asked to tune a beautiful short wheelbase Ferrari 250gt that they took out of the showroom to tune and this time I was invited to tune a genuine factory Aston Martin db4 GT.

These are incredibly rare cars even by Aston Martin standards and it was shorter, lighter, more powerful, more focused, it was just a meaner car than the road standard for DB, so I'm going to tune it up and they're taking it out of the exhibition once again for me. Hello good. See you again, thanks for welcoming you back Lizzy, and last time I was here you very kindly brought out the short wheelbase 250, oh yes, display and let me play with it, yes, unfortunately, you're a Crazy impetuous fool, oh you did right by us. I've been better at everything so this is a beauty this is an original db4 GT very few now you know the stats better than me yeah so db4 GT lighter racing advanced this is one of the rear 19 , but if. an interesting car tokimeki numbers chasing numbers obviously 155, but this is the engine, as you say, it is wonderfully original, it has the wide angle head, as it is called, where the included angle of the vowels is wider for a better flow gas, it's okay, and it has the twin spark plugs hall dual ignitions two spark plugs per cylinder for better combustion, so this was really the state of the art in the 1950s, you consider you know Aston decided in the 50s to go with six cylinders in line to what Ferrari is doing. with three liter v12, you know, also what's interesting is the fact that it was actually a proposal for 300 horses to tame, but it has some charms, these got these original 45 DC oe9 Weber that you just can't get it now.

I forgot your money. It's wonderful to see them still there. It's a beautiful car. It really is. It is very valuable and very rare. I know. Yeah, I'm just thinking a lot of people don't know that. Its a big problem. They are dual tanks and the fuel tank is exposed in the trunk with the spherical wheel that is unique to the previous D and is huge. The tank, right? It's something like 20-odd gallons, right? 23. I never, ever really thought that it's 130 liters or something like that. To me, it's huge, so I obviously know that the twin fills that were based on racing heritage could be filled from both sides.

It's just lovely to see things exactly. all this and handle all made by hand, yes, beautiful and the leather on this looks like this, but it is this, if I'm not mistaken, this is VM three two three four is caught with its beige ink. Connolly's color palette was beige, okay and Actually, this is natural grain vegetable tanned nitrocellulose treated leather, so the leather came to be in the 1980s at the latest because they started using water based to be more of a neat, very friendly name, but this is the original grain and What the leather messengers and the tannaz began to do was actually artificially uniform the grain, so that if you took a piece of leather it would always match with the slice next to it, it's fine, but these are all handmade from different parts of the world. cow so that the kernels match perfectly, then your nuts will hail, they are as they were in the cow, fantastic, well, they are pubes, that's a lovely part of today's education, fantastic, it's a lovely piece of history because it still has that leather. interior like this and obviously the genuine wall carpet in the world, yes, it's just a lovely, lovely car, mmm-hmm, is it possible to occupy about four small spaces, let's go for it?

Yeah, she's just cleaning up so everyone's doing a lot of things: secret clearance of the door idea I think if I have a package in Ozone here we go right and screwdrivers obviously yeah it's going to take a few minutes but do you mind If I remove this cover a little? They are all flathead screws, apart from that little X in the corner. on the left well that could be 3/8 owned by HM government this could take some time and this is where you yourself won't drop anything here we go ok by the way you can take a break .
Greetings, wow, lose the wind. cover over 40 that's nothing that will stick to a Dominion if you have magnets yeah especially sure any form of prank is fine so I need some hose tip in there if you have it or would like me to give you posh now, so I've removed the air intake panel here to expose the trumpets to the carburetors and it's just a matter of doing the usual thing of setting it up now with a screwdriver, some hose, hopefully the plugs aren't ruined by something like that and we can get a good melody out of it because they were too rich, look how the volumes are on them, it's no different, there is a final run finished in the country once again in which we could put the Close the lid and try it again if you want, it's okay.
I guess it's amazing how many people are rich just off these auto presses and just felt the plugs fixed the problem years ago, it had been sitting for many years, we separated the police and us. I mean, when we did Durban Top Killer, it actually worked really well, I mean, I was running them, I mean, we had it all dressed up to show off, we're talking about the fact that you know they're standing and I could use them. I think they set. used but not enough, yeah, I would suggest we put that one in the corner, okay, because it's the hardest one to start potentially, that's it, we're in it, you mean a lot of times overly eager and if you want to just make fun of it. away and then he bites it and then you don't put the rest in the toy it's fun it's when we have one left that's the real worry isn't it?
Yes, it's there. Do you want the syringe to escape the bend in the intestine? Yes, that's what always worries me when you put everything back together and exactly one is missing. Oh, I think I dropped it somehow. Now, of course, the Rolls-Royce mechanic in me would run all of these to line them up. exactly the same way, but it's not going to happen, so Fort mechanic friend, yes, you can have any color bolt you want, as long as it's black. I'm going to do that bolt in the corner now carefully avoiding touching the body I did 90 me here we go this is where it works like it's for the spammers now let me put all that back, we tighten it up and now let's try it and see if it's better without pressure no pressure, it could just be a driver's fault Oh, she sounds softer, sweet, sweet, sweet, well that concludes another
