If you're like me, you don't want to leave a large area of the game behind if you don't have the option to come back later and whatnot. It was my concern with Norway, but fear not, once you reach England the game allows you to fast travel back to the frozen north at any time, just select this option here in the world menu and you will be ready to start a big new part of the game. The loop in Valhalla is your settlement, but it can be difficult to know exactly which buildings to spend your resources on because the game doesn't really tell you what they do, at least not in their entirety.

This is what I wish I had known from the beginning. In addition to the blacksmith, it is worth immediately building both the stable and the hidden office. The stable allows you to train your mount to swim and you can improve its stamina and health. You can also get new mounts like this giant wolf. Buy new skins for your crow and for the office of the hidden, this building unlocks your iconic leap of faith and opens a quest where you can reveal the history of the

s by tracing the pages of the codex. This is also where you can access the Order of the Ancients member results list, which is similar to the Cult of the Cosmos results list in Assassin's Creed Odyssey.

Some other useful additions to the settlement are the hunter's hut, where you can trade animal parts for useful items and who has a checklist that fills out as you find the game's legendary animals, then there's the fishing hut, where you unlock the ability to fish if cosmetics are your thing, the tattoo parlor lets you customize Avor's appearance, and the museum lets you unlock more decorations for the settlement. That itself says I wish I had waited a little longer to build these two buildings in particular. Finally, one of the most useful additions that will become available a little later is the cartographer who can mark the location of equipment resources and new skills on your map for the last time.

A note about building your settlement is that in your bedroom you will find a podium on which you will find a list of buildings that the game recommends building at any point, which is actually quite useful, it's tempting to just pick one weapon and stick with it. with it, but the different weapons in Valhalla really affect how you engage in combat. I started with an ax and a shield, which I liked because it provided the combination of attack and defense, but it wasn't until I tried using both. flail and an axe, I really found my groove, seriously, hold the flail in your right hand and you can smash through enemy shields and with an ax in your left hand you can unleash a brutal one-handed hackathon, but I didn't stop there.
I soon equipped a spear, which is currently my favorite weapon in the game, it deals decent damage and its length allows me to stay away from tougher enemies like bosses and legendary animals. There are surely other weapons that will match your play style, but you may never find them. If you don't experiment, learning the basics of the new stun system is

essential

if you want to be successful in combat. Is that how it works. Each enemy has a stun meter right above their health meter. When this meter depletes, your enemy becomes vulnerable to a stun attack and you can then press the right analog stick for a brutal instant kill.
So how do you deplete the stun meter? You can launch strong attacks, but the most effective way, at least for me, was to parry. Stops are more challenging in Valhalla. than in Odyssey, but the moment is worth learning. There is also another way to stun your enemies. You may have noticed that some enemies have these glowing golden areas, these are weak points and if you hit an enemy with an arrow in each of their weak points, you become vulnerable to a stun attack however you stun an enemy by killing enemies with stun attacks at least for me was easily the quickest way to clear a crowded battlefield Valhalla allows you to equip special combat abilities that you discover by finding books of knowledge around the world like In Odyssey, you can equip up to eight at a time given, but to be honest, I found a lot of the initial combat skills to be a bit disappointing, but then I unlocked the Valkyries Dive easily, the best skill I found early in the game.
You jump into the air and then unleash a burst of serious, unblockable damage on your opponent and it even works from a pretty good distance, unfortunately I didn't exactly check on the map where I found the book of knowledge that unlocks the Valkyries Dive. So I can't tell you, but when you find it, I'll equip it immediately, speaking of skills. I found one that's actually obtained through an optional side quest instead of a book of knowledge, and it's great in your In your longhouse, you'll eventually see this kid asking for your help. Now this was totally optional, but when I agreed, he took me on a quest where I rescued a captured wolf.
My reward is a special ability called man's best friend that allows me to cast that same wolf on an enemy if you master it, this can be a great help in combat Valhalla introduces a completely new upgrade system for both weapons and armor and It may be a little confusing at first, but here are the basics. You can now upgrade your equipment in two ways: the first is called upgrading and is done directly from your inventory menu. Each time you upgrade a piece of equipment, you will fill one of its upgrade slots, which increases the individual stats of that piece of equipment.
This is basically how you make a piece of equipment more powerful, but what happens when you fill all the upgrade slots on an item? That's where the second type of enhancement, called enhancement, comes into play. This can be done with your blacksmith in your settlement and every time. You upgrade a piece of equipment, add upgrade slots to that piece of equipment, and often add a rune slot as well. Runes are items you find in the world that add additional stat boosts to your equipment. Basically, all you need to know is that Upgrading increases the stats of the equipment, while Upgrading increases the number of times you can upgrade and the number of runes you can equip.
Raids are a big part of gameplay in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, but there are a few things you should keep in mind before you begin. Started first, you can raid any military camp by the river and there are quite a few of them, but if you want to find the raw materials needed to upgrade your settlement, you'll need to raid the places marked on your map with these red icons. Also note the level. I made the mistake of raiding a monastery early on with a recommended power level of 160 and got destroyed when you enter a raid as well.
I found it helpful to use Odin's Sight frequently. Raids can be a bit overcrowded and this will be highlighted in bright red, meaning the fighters are your enemies rather than your own crew members. Oh and one last thing the game shows you how to trigger a raid from your ship, but you can also call your crew from land, just open the game's skill wheel and honk. The game menu that's very easy to miss is the avor stat menu, which tracks the power level of each individual stat. The most useful thing for me is that by hovering over each stat you can see exactly what it does.
Now you might be wondering why this is happening. Well, once you dig deeper into the skill tree you'll see that some skill nodes will increase individual stats and while most of them are self-explanatory, some are pretty vague, for example I had to look up damage and evasion elite weight to find out exactly what. They did it. If you want to know what a stat does before spending a skill point, you can find out here in your stats menu. You'll notice your Charisma stat, which is built by completing flying challenges against npcs. These are the Viking rap battles. which test your rhyming skills, if you win you will be rewarded with some coins and increase your charisma stat.
So what does that do? It actually opens up new dialogue options in certain conversations in one example, when someone requested a fee for providing something. info, they gave me the option to halve them, not bad at all, the skill tree in Assassin's Creed Valhalla is huge, features a ton of stat boosts and passive skills and yes, these are different from the skills I saw before , also this skill tree. It's actually three skill trees in one, the red or bear skill tree focuses on close-range melee combat, the yellow or raven skill tree is geared toward stealth and ranged combat, while the blue or wolf skill tree from what I found lands somewhere in between.
Now it may be tempting to focus all your skill points on one build type, but I found valuable skills within all three skill trees. Here are a few that I found very useful early in the game. In the bear's skill tree is the stomp skill that allows you to stomp enemies that have been knocked to the ground and the damage parry skill that deals damage to opponents every time you parry their attack in the bear's skill tree. wolf. I found use for the Emergency Aim skill which allows you to instantly target an enemy with your bow once it detects you and in the Raven skill tree I was glad to have unlocked the Advanced Assassination which allows you to

assassin

ate enemies that are more powerful than you.
Guided arrow that allows you to adjust the trajectory of an arrow in mid-flight, assuming you have a predator bow. Chain Kill that allows you to kill two nearby enemies at once and close to death, slowing down time each time you perform a perfect dodge. Like I said, the skill tree is huge, so there are a lot of skills I haven't had a chance to experiment with yet, but those were some of the skills that worked for me. Plus, you can undo any skill points you spend, so don't worry about unlocking the wrong skill node or committing to the wrong skill tree.
Assassin's Creed Valhalla has more enemy types than any AC game before much more and they are all listed in the game's codex. Additionally, each entry provides some simple but honestly quite useful combat

tips

, for example, once I learned that a spearman's defensive stance could be broken by launching a strong attack, fighting them became much easier and when I found at this guy called fire guardian, he almost killed me, so I opened my codecs and found out that you can actually use his explosive attack against them if the time is right, this tactic is easier said than done, but anyway no I would.
I knew this if I hadn't opened my codex in Assassin's Creed Valhalla. Social stealth is back. Basically, you'll occasionally enter what are called untrusted areas that are patrolled, but unlike completely restricted areas, wearing your hood in a distrusted area will allow you to remain anonymous and said it's still pretty easy to get caught even if you are wearing your hood and as such you will have several ways to remain hidden: one is to find a group of monks and blend in, another is to find a table or bench. That basically asks you to fake certain activities, but those are the obvious options.
You can also call a town drunk, have one follow you, and then you can ask him at any time to cause a scene and distract nearby guards. You can also use the crow. distraction ability that will summon your raven from above to distract an enemy well. This worked wonders when there was only one guard to sneak past and is reminiscent of the Man's Best Friend ability I mentioned earlier which can be another great way to deal with guards stealthily. Although calling this social stealth may be a bit of a stretch in Assassin's Creed Valhalla, there are three different types of arcs and they are very different from each other.
Hunter bows are basic and balanced, nothing special here, but light bows allow you to shoot rapid-fire arrows. one after another by simply holding down the trigger, this can be a big help if you are trying to hit the weak points of aenemy, if you like the light bow, I also recommend that you upgrade your quiver so that you can carry more arrows and then there. There are predator bows that you will need if you want to take advantage of the guided arrow ability I mentioned earlier. The problem is weapons, and honestly, all equipment is much rarer in Valhalla than in Odyssey, so you may have to wait a while before finding one. bow of each type, so there you have it.
