Are these ugly agates beautiful inside?!

Mar 21, 2024
Let's take a look at this. Hello everyone, today we are going to cut out a bunch of

ugly

Lake Superior EG nodules to see if there is beauty inside. Let's start cutting, so we have the first five of many of these

ugly

nodules, some of them. I think they are nodules, they could be quartz nodules or they could end up being nothing. Some of them are mysterious rocks like this guy, it looks like it could potentially be covered in moss or it's nothing, but we won't know unless we find out, so we're opening a bunch and hopefully learning a bunch today to find out. what to pick up and what not to pick up so let's look at our first five cuts this one was quick it's a

beautiful

nodule right here you can see that I.

I like it, I bet it's some quartz, oh it's like banded quartz, it's so pretty, it definitely has some Ot Ot bands up here, more kind of layered banded quartz, that's actually really cool, really I like it, I'm going to keep that one to see this guy, oh. that's cool, that's kind of a paint ego on Pi, that's nice, I really like that one, it fractured a little bit, but we can fix it in the polishing process, look at this guy, yeah, I noticed this one it was extremely fourth, I mean, you can I'm saying it from the outside, but it's good to know, some of these I find and I'm like I don't know if they're anything or not and I don't know, maybe low grade Kel Sydney with quartz.

More Interesting Facts About,

I find these a lot and I think, my goodness, that sure looks like an Egan's nodule, it looks like a little potato, it's waxy, very soft and nothing's going on inside, this is obviously a dead giveaway for the classic Lake Superior Egan's nodule, like this I hope there's something, oh, that's nice. quartz bands oh that's good I wish there was a little less quartz but we'll take what we can get so we'll just go through cuts on this there's no rhyme or reason to take anything just random shots and we'll try to do it . you know, a handful at a time, the cut and the show was quick cuts, very quick cuts on these, here's one smeared with limonite, I think it's an OT, oh, that's very pretty, it's like it almost reminds me to Sean, there are definitely some bands playing there.

It's super pretty, I'm going to keep that one, well this one opened up on us, let's look at this one, oh boy look at that, it's purple, it's like a little bit, I don't know if I'd say amethyst, maybe a little bit of fluorite. because it has amethyst, I guess I have to stick with that H, that's funny, let's see this cut in a quartz millisecond, very quarty, I was trying it down here, but no, not really, oh, this one opened too. when I started cutting it, sometimes these waxy ones throw me off a little, it's like it's low quality or hiding something inside, let's cut it, maybe avoid those when I go rock hunting next time, oh god, yeah Look at it right close, it has a lot of really nice details, oh, I didn't see a lot of really nice details, so I hope there's something there.

Don't wait to polish this, that's crazy, the composition I like the contrast between the yellow, orange and purple and even a little bit of green, oh my god how sweet, let me zoom in so you can see it really well. it's perfection oh my goodness it's a sweet amethyst quartz between them there's just so much going on it sure is a keeper our next five are I have no idea what this is it doesn't actually remind me of the nodule but I thought Let's cut out a bunch of weird, let's open it up again with this.
It's very waxy, it's translucent, maybe it's like a layer of Jasper or something weird and these three are definitely nodules, you can tell they are, by the way. They look with that waxy exterior, we'll just go through them without rhyme or reason, this one I know is absolutely nothing because of how fast it cuts if it were an egg, it wouldn't have cut as fast, but it's so pretty even though it has some interesting things going on there definitely definitely looks silica rich in some places other areas not so much this one was quick it will be quartz has some aerosols right here interesting took a look how pretty it is not sure what it is definitely not OT if you know what is this is a mineral from Minnesota I don't know exactly what it is maybe some variation of Jasper or something it's cool I like it I was expecting to miss the quartz so I tried sliding it in that way a totally quartz in there.
I really hope this one is sweet, as you can see, it has a

beautiful

shell, it has a little bit of amethyst right there, maybe Smokey, oh that has so much. What happens there are not traditional bands, but they are very unique. I think it would be fun to polish it and see it with that mirror shine, so here's our next batch of Cutters. We have three first OTS for sure, we will see what kind of quality. It's two Mayes and two mystery rocks, so I'm going to open them up and show them that you cut them all.
I don't know, some of them are a little confusing. This one is actually very difficult, so I gave it a bit. I have a little hope, but maybe it's just a really hard rock, huh? Did you know? That's interesting, it reminds me and it's very waxy, it reminds me of a mossot, but I don't know, not much happens in that one and then the other big one, um. As it got wet, the shell revealed the F itself and I thought, I don't know, maybe it's good, oh, that's interesting, I'm not sure what you'd call it, I don't know if I'd call it that. an egot was very difficult and I'm not saying OT like with traditional bands like it's some other weird variation you know, but who knows, I think it's pretty nice, this guy here was a super quick cut, so I guess. it's like those other ones only yeah, it's kind of a funky wannabe oh there's a little smoke in there it's some kind of very low grade quartz nodule kill sydney maybe i don't know this cool guy, it's cool, almost It's got like little speckled platelets in there, I find things like this all the time and I always wonder why you can see things like that, it seems a little strange, there's not much to do there so maybe it's not worth grabbing, you know what I mean?
We'll get to these ones here that I thought were surely ego nodules, maybe not. I think it's an attempt, but it's really very low grade. This one was a little difficult so I wasn't sure. I wasn't sure if there were any bands here, oh yeah, oh, that's awesome, oh, that makes me happy, it's as cool a classic as Superior Egot with fractures, but it's not that bad, I think it would be fun to polish it, oh , that's probably one of my. favorites so far it's so pretty love love love the quartz in there is beautiful and this one I thought this is one that I'm really excited about.
I've been excited to cut it for a long time. Cut it so quickly. So now I don't have too much hope, oh, it's got some bands that are actually really unique here. Not bad. I'm not going to complain. I can find beauty in them. The cute little bands are also easy to polish. Because there's so much quartz, so I'm going to keep that one too, so I gave you kind of an extra cut. It's a huge piece of Jasper. I saw this open on us. Let's take a look, oh my goodness, Holy Moly. Holy shit, look at that Parallax band that just turned this little banded purple ego, not amethyst, just purple, into a premium ego because of that Parallax band, oh, it'll be fun to polish it, oh, it's probably one of my favorite candies.
Great, this one is totally quartz, yes, quartz. I mean, it looks like quartz. This one opened up a little. Gunk. Let's see the same thing with this Gunk type guy. I think we're leaning more towards more of them being fakes and not studs, though look at that. little beauty, I love the shell on this one, so cool, so pretty, little beauty, I wasn't sure what to think about this one either, oh that's really unique, just a total mess there, but it's so beautiful. I'm going to keep that one and our last little baby nodule is fractured all over, it's pretty, although it would be worth polishing this side if it stays together and, uh, our big bonus cut, this is a giant chunk of Jasper.
I just thought I'd cut it quick, so it was. It wasn't quick, but I thought I'd cut it out and show you what it looks like inside. It was a tough cut with our thin blade centered, but woohoo, I love that here and here, it's so pretty, okay guys. I have one, two, three, four, five left. I don't know what to think about these two, but I'm really excited about these two, so I'll save them for last. I guess I'm pretty excited about this one too, but whatever we do, we'll cut and show. I find pieces like this all the time and it's not like that.
I just think this is just Kel Sydney, just pure Kel Sydney. Nothing happens there, maybe if we mean it. It looks like it has some lighter stuff going on. Don't know. I think it would be fun to polish it, though just to see the depth, so we'll keep that one. What a stinking, what a stinking fracture in me! I was so excited. this one's not right, oh god, it's a huge fracture, so I'll walk away, oh, I'll walk away like this, we'll look at the side of the fracture first, oh, it's because there's a lot of moss or just Gunk around here.
I was really hoping this one is so unique. I'm going to cut on this side one more time just to see if there's anything because the shell is so pretty. I'm going to cut it quickly once again, since it's bound to fracture. Well, that's a prettier man, look at that huge fracture, unique, unique, sure, I don't know, I don't know if it's worth polishing. Let me know if you'd like it or not, okay, this guy I found here on a Northshore river. it was like I don't know it feels like a nodule I bet I hope this is just a top layer of Courtz but I bet there are no bands inside I bet it's moss or fragmented ego or fragmented membrane ego those are my guesses hard to say with this one it was a little quick but a little difficult at the same time, eh, literally, it's like nothing.
I like it, it's green, that's so weird, very unique. I really have no idea why this one threw me off, well we have two. Of these little booties that remain, I hope to see that there is quartz, but the shell is very pretty. Hopefully it's not quartz and then we'll cut this guy off. I've been putting off cutting this one for a long time. I really hope it's pretty. I love the shell on it, so I don't know, we'll cut this one from the first second to the last cut, so it's smoky quartz. I guess it's not very disappointing.
Beautiful shell with smoky quartz inside. I will accept it. Not bad, I was hoping, I showed you that shell, it's got sweet eyes and all that's not bad, smoky quartz, very good, very good, okay, let's do the last one, we'll peel the band-aid, we'll peel it, oh. Oh my gosh this was definitely the hardest cut and the one I was most nervous about and it didn't break at all in the end so I was really happy so let's take a look at this oh oh my gosh oh it's the best cut of the whole lot it's my favorite, oh my gosh, there's no fracture there, oh my gosh, look how beautiful it is, oh my gosh, light Parallax Banning here, the Banning is so tight, oh that's so pretty .
I'm so glad we cut it the way we trust instinct, oh that's so unique, so sweet, I love how those layers lay like that and come here, what a stud, what a great way to end our cutting session , oh, that's so. so cool, so cool, oh my gosh, I'm loving this, this is so fun, so amazing, cool, so I'm back in, I'm already warmed up and I had so much fun opening all of those. Ugly ego nodules. I hope the ones you see can help you when you are looking for rocks, look at them and see, maybe they are not worth picking up or maybe you should pick it up and open it because it could be hiding something.
Beauty inside and many of those ugly EG nodules were hiding Beauty inside and I had a lot of fun cutting it and seeing that beauty, it was wonderful. I had fun sharing it with you and I hope you enjoyed it. Thank you very much for watching see you next time bye
