Feb 27, 2020
What's up guys? This is Mike, the Detroit pig, with the new

series

for Apple Watch. This is the first complete redesign of the Apple Watch since its launch in 2015. The big news here is, obviously, larger screens, so we went from a size of 38 and 42 millimeters. at a size of 40 and 44 millimeters, but the existing

watch

straps still work with a new design, although the screens are larger, the new design is thinner, we get louder speakers, better microphones, a new electrical frequency sensor cardiac along with a digital Crom with haptic feedback and of course, we get a new processor that increases performance up to double the clock speed of the

series

3.

Once again, the

watch

es are available in aluminum or steel stainless. Aluminum is the cheapest starting at 399 for the smallest size, we still have three same aluminum colors. colors that we had from last year, but the stainless steel finally adds a third color this time, gold, which matches the new iPhone 10s and 10's max, so in this video we will see three versions of the Apple Watch, the aluminum design 40 millimeters cheaper. space gray and the more expensive discounted 44 millimeter Hermès stainless steel with a Milanese loop in gold and space black, so when it comes to

unboxing

the Apple Watch series, this is one of the other big design changes and that It's because they've unified the packaging design for all versions of the Apple Watch.

More Interesting Facts About,

apple watch series 4 unboxing review...

There used to be a lot of different versions depending on what type of watch you got, whether you had a stainless steel lute strap and that kind of thing, and one of the reasons Why they were able to do this is because They are packaging the watch separately from the bands, so when you open the boxes you will see this wrapping that holds both boxes together, so you will see the Apple Watch box on top and the band of the clock just below. You'll see information about the version of the Apple Watch you have on the side, and of course you'll get that embossed version of the watch on the top of the case, so when you lift the lid, the first thing you'll see is Here are all the accessories familiar, so once again we get a 5-watt USB wall adapter like you get with the iPhone, but we also get that wireless inductive charging puck.

Now just like the original Apple Watch we get a stainless steel version for the stainless steel watch and a white plastic version for the aluminum watch now this is the same design we've always had so the existing accessories will continue working with the new watches the documentation included is very basic it shows you how to install the watch bands how to set them up i put it on for the first time and if you are looking for

apple

stickers, unfortunately they don't come with

apple

watches so perhaps the smallest component Of this entire box is the Apple Watch on the left side, which is protected in these microfiber bags that The color matches that of the Apple Lunch.

They also tell you the size on the back. The slots for the watch bands are the same design we've had from the beginning, so if you look at the inside edge you'll see things like the model number. or your serial number information and we will find the latches that you can release by pressing the button at the bottom, so when you install the watch bands, just slide them left and right to make sure they have been secured, so next go to the watch straps first we have the 40 millimeter sport strap now this is the same design that we have had since the original so it is the same floral elastomer material which is really soft and comfortable to wear use, especially if you are exercising, we have some installation. instructions and you will see that we have two straps, one large and one small, so you just have to use the strap that fits you best.
What you need to keep in mind is that the sport bands that come with Apple Watches have a color-matching rivet which may not be the case with the ones you buy off the shelf, so reaching for the space black Milanese loop is not a new color, but it certainly is now, the design is pretty much the same as the original, except for one important thing. exception, the great news here is that you can now open the Milanese loop, which means you can thread the loop through the lug of the watch band. I'm actually a big fan of the Milanese loop, it's a little more formal than the other bands and it's also more expensive but for me it's the most comfortable because it's highly adjustable, it breathes normally and I'm not allergic to it like I can be with one of the polymer bands or even with the leather bands in terms of the setup process, it is extremely simple.
I need an iPhone to set this up, but they have made it very simple. What I have to do is start the Apple Watch, hold it close to your iPhone and this will trigger the setup process. The setup process involves using the iPhone's camera to scan a code. Apple Watch face and the rest of the process happens on the iPhone, so you can transfer your settings. You can enter a passcode for security. This also gives you a taste of some of the new features, including a heart rate monitor that can warn you. If you suffer from low or high heart rate, you can also set up app payment and if you have a version with cellular connectivity, you can also set up that service, as well as before the aluminum watches use the following glass. for the faceplate, so it's less reflective, but should be a little less prone to chipping, while the sapphire crystal on these stainless steel is more reflective and more jewel-like, but is also much more resistant to chips. scratches, but may be a little more brittle at first.
What immediately jumps out about the watch series is not only that the screen is larger but that it is more rounded, so the old Apple Watch feels a little boxy here compared to this, a lot of that has to do with the screen, which again has been pushed to the edges and rounded, but the screen is also closer to the glass, so it almost looks like the screen is floating on top, which gives it that kind of rounded illusion, In fact, it almost looks like the screen is curved, but that's really just the glass Series Four optics also get a new screen technology called LTP OLN, also known as low-temperature polycrystalline oxide.
This is the first application of this technology by Apple and is actually designed to improve battery efficiency. It's still an extremely bright OLED display. Up to 1000 nits of maximum brightness indirect illumination, making this watch extremely visible in bright daylight conditions. Although they are larger, they are still really small 1.57-inch or 1.78-inch displays with a resolution of 394 by 324 or 448 by 363 and they are still built into this watch. It is the pressure sensitivity that Apple calls forced contact. Side by side, you can see that the footprint of the Apple Watches has increased slightly, but actually the biggest increase is in the utilization of that footprint for the screen, so much more of the device is shown, not just the screen .
The bezel around it is also a little more rounded at the corners, something you don't really appreciate until you see that, side by side, the back of the Series 4 also receives a major redesign, so we have a Much larger ceramic back panel on both sides. aluminum and stainless steel now this improves the radio transparency of the GPS and cellular Wi-Fi Bluetooth on the Apple Watch but it also incorporates many more sensors, so in addition to a much more compact optical heart rate sensor we now have electrodes that surround that optical sensor that is actually used to measure your heart rate in addition to your pulse, this actually works in combination with a new electrode inside the redesigned digital crown so that you keep a finger on your digital crown while it measures your heart rate through your wrist, which will allow the watch series to act as an EKG monitor so it can detect if you have a fast or irregular heart rhythm.
Unfortunately, for now, that feature is not yet enabled in the H software. On that ceramic back panel are all these specs for the Apple Watch, so you'll find things like LTE specs, 50 meters of water resistance, whether we have aluminum or stainless steel and of course references to INX or sapphire crystal, side by side, there are some visual adjustments to note, obviously, it is thinner, in fact, it is a millimeter thinner, which is quite a bit for On the Apple Watch, we see that the digital crown no longer has that prominent red dot again, this indicates if it has the cellular version, so it is now a more subtle red ring.
The microphone on the side is also repositioned for series four. with a smaller side button on the other side we get a much larger speaker that dominates the entire side of the device, so we get much better audio for two-way communication and for feedback from Siri degrees and, once again, the speaker is waterproof, in fact, just like Before there is a control in the control center that allows you to expel water by sounding a tone, the digital crown has also been redesigned, so they have reduced the space occupied by the crown, but they have also increased their complexity, so there are more pieces coming in.
Of course, we have the new electrode to measure your heart rate, but it also gives us haptic feedback as we move around the interface. Now you get audio feedback and have the sensation of clicking the detents. He's a little more subtle than me. Expected, but what's interesting is that it changes in intensity depending on what you're doing, for example when you scroll to the end of a list you get a crisper click letting you know when you've reached the end, but this turns off completely when you are not browsing the interface, so it is completely synthetic in terms of new hardware specifications.
We have the new s4 CPU, which is a 64-bit dual-core processor that offers up to twice the performance of the s3. I get 16 gigs of onboard storage and although the batteries are smaller on both sides, the watches are about 30 percent smaller, we actually have the same battery life of around 18 hours, so most days I end up with about 60 percent left on the battery. The Series 4 also has new gyroscopes and GeForce sensors, in fact it can detect up to 32G, so this is part of the new fault detection feature. There's actually quite a bit of science behind this, so it's difficult to get false fall detection readings, but in the event that the watch detects a fall, you can set this to send an emergency call to one of your emergency contacts, but you can imagine this being useful for older people or people who work in dangerous workplaces.
Once again, cellular connectivity is available for the Apple Watch, meaning the Apple Watch can run independently of your iPhone so you have full Internet access over cellular if you prefer, this also includes phone calls and standard text messages. Now, it actually uses the phone number of the iPhone it's paired with, so you basically have to register your watch. service on your iPhone, but once you do, you can leave your iPhone at home and use your Apple Watch for your phone number and text messages, plus a ton of new features and a faster UI, too we get a new animation with Siri, previously we used to get a standard waveform and then we get a waveform that responds to your voice in terms of selection sizes.
I have to say that the 40 millimeter is much more useful to more people than I think the 38 millimeter was nice. Thanks in part to the fact that the overall footprint isn't much larger, but the screen is larger. In fact, the screen is almost the same size as last year's 42 millimeter, but I'll definitely stick with the larger 44 millimeter screen. The size is really difficult. One very important thing to consider when choosing one of the stainless steel colors is how they wear over time. There is a big difference between raw stainless steel and one of the coated stainless steel finishes, which is why space black has a dlc coating. or a diamond-like carbon coating that is very scratch resistant, especially when you compare the original Apple Watch that I used for about a year to the space black version that I also used for about a year.
I'm not sure how the gold will hold up, but after about a month of use I haven't had any noticeable scratches in terms of aluminum, the 7000 series is extremely strong and that anodized finish is very forgiving so you shouldn't have any problems with scratches in that design in terms of theglass, only one version with sapphire crystal was really used and that crystal has been extremely durable. I've never scratched one yet and I wear my Apple watches all day, every day of the year, so I basically never went out to exercise, swim, garden or anything else. starter projects now take a look at the interface to see OS 5 on the series 4, the big news here obviously is the extra screen real estate, so things are more spacious, so for example the screen The amp has a lot more room to work with, so it's actually easier. to choose the apps and it was before, so if I want to open the weather app, you can see it opens very quickly.
I can scroll through it to get that mechanical response while I'm doing it or I can move around here and zoom into an app so I can open my messaging app. I can even open the podcasting app and with the podcasting app I can see all my podcasts synced from my iCloud account and open them directly on the Apple Watch without having to sync them from my phone just like on iOS, you can also rearrange these apps to being able to drag and drop them now all the screen space is really useful with a new standard watch face so this is called an infographic and it's full of complications that you can edit so in my case I have the weather call on the top right corner that indicates the low and high temperature, the status of my battery, when the sun will set, the UV index will appear and then I have summons inside the watch face, so I have the wind. condition, so the wind direction and speed schedule and my events towards the top.
I even have the Earth complication that tells me where the Sun is right now on the planet, so right now it's setting across North America to customize this just force tap and select Customize and from here you can choose your complications that have a different format for the space they occupy, so obviously we have this half moon design for the corner complications, but they are different for the circular complication, so for example, if you choose the weather complication, you can see it's circular instead of crescent shaped, there are now countless complications you can choose from, so for example I have the earth complication, calendar shortcuts back to quality index activity level from the air of your applications or you can simply disable them.
If you want there are quite a few more you can choose from, you can even choose your favorite content or the phases of the moon and get shortcuts to some of your amps, like the music app, you even have these solar complications which I like too Of the solar system. it tells you where the planets are relative to each other, so again there's a lot of interesting stuff here. These complications are also shortcuts to the applications that provide that information. For example, if I tap on the weather complication, it takes me directly to then the other app on the watch faces is called modular infograph, which again takes advantage of screen real estate and resources to push all of these calls on the screen.
Now what really stands out about this specific complication is the size so that I can get quite a bit more information in this small window compared to these smaller complications, so I can see my heart rate weather graphs and more steam. It is another series for a watch face formatted for the display. It is also available with Watch OS 5, but of course it is needed. Taking advantage of this larger screen, you can also customize it, so if you are going to customize you can choose between three different colors, for example, we have blue, green, black and white or pink and orange, you also choose all the colors and if you choose all the colors, you can alternate. between the different colors of steam just by touching the screen, now the interesting thing here is that these are actually practical effects, so they are not digital effects, they were actually captured in real life and then formatted for the screen.
Now the only problem with the full screen watch faces is that you can't add complications, so there is actually a circular version that you can customize as well. If you choose to circle, that animation is only within a certain part of that screen and then you can swipe to add complications. Now what's interesting? is that these complications are color coordinated so they actually match the watch face steam so blue for blue green pink pink and orange and then of course you have white and gray another new face of the clock is fire and water, very similar to the effect of steam.
It's also a practical effect and you can choose whether you want full screen or circular. I can tap the screen to select to go between them and there are different variations of them so there are about two variations for fire and there are also two variations for water so if you tap here you should see them splash around the edges or from the center, kind of a neat clock face, so if I'm going to customize it I can choose if I want fire and water or both and I can cycle. between them and then I can choose full screen or sir and if I choose circle I can add complications.
Another interesting watch face is liquid metal, so you can see that the gold matches the gold on this watch, but you can customize it and select silver or black if you want. Whichever you prefer, of course, you may want to choose the one that best suits your color. You can also choose what you want in full screen or circle and you can add complications now to view your notifications, just swipe down and you can scroll through them with your digital device. crown or use your finger to do the same, like with iOS 12e, notifications are now stacked on top of each other, so I can see with this Nest app.
I have 51 notifications, so I can tap them to expand them and view them individually. Notifications and tapping on them for more details Now one of my favorite aspects of Watch OS 5 is that I can open websites on the Apple Watch, which is especially useful for email, for example, in emails formatted in HTML I can read the email completes correctly. On the watch, in terms of the side buttons, we have these side buttons, so if you press them once, this will take you to all your recent apps, just like with iOS 12, you can swipe to dismiss apps like that now if you double press this will activate Apple Pay if you hold this is where you can turn off your Apple Watch now if you tap and hold the crown and the side key at the same time this will take a screenshot in terms of these buttons along the side Yes If you long press the Digital Crown, this will take you to Siri.
Now, something new with Siri this time is that it actually has a waveform that responds to your voice, which wasn't the case with the Series 3. What will the weather be like tomorrow? Well, again I understand. voice response that is even clearer with that louder speaker and visual response, plus another trick you should know is that if we double tap the digital crown, this will take you to your most recent app. If you swipe up from the watch face you'll get to your control center, so your control center has things like your connectivity status, so now I'm connected to my phone, but if I turn it off I can connect to Wi-Fi.
Fi or if I have a cellular setup, I can connect to my cellular plan, but I don't have that setup right now. I can also enter airplane mode, so again, like in iOS 12, these are buttons that you can turn on and off. I can also go into power reserve mode, but this is also a quick way to check. To determine the battery status, one of my favorite features, something I use quite often, is the phone locator, so they ring my phone and I can look it up if I lost it. We also get the flashlight, so it allows you to use your scope as a flashlight and you have several options, you can choose between a red screen, a flashing screen or just white.
It now dims first and then gets brighter, so giving you the chance to look away and use the throw as a flashlight instead of blinding you directly in your eyes, we also get improved do not disturb options so you can activate it , for example, for just an hour or just until tomorrow morning or until I leave this place, so for example, if you go to a cinema, you can enter do not disturb and then once you leave the cinema, this It will turn off automatically, which I think is useful. We also get theater mode which will prevent the screen from waking up or ringing notifications and will also disable the walkie-talkie feature until you wake up the screen with the digital crown by tapping on it, we can also enter water lock mode.
This is useful if you are going swimming with your Apple Watch, this way you will prevent the screen from accidentally turning on while you are in the water. Now I can turn on the screen and check out my time or notifications, but I can't touch anything on the screen, so to get out of this mode you slide the digital crown to hear that tone that is actually expelling water from the speaker. you exit the mode, we also have airplay on the Apple Watch so you can change the Airplay output from the Apple Watch to your Air Pods or other compatible devices and if you want, you can select Edit and move them so I can go ahead and drag.
If I will, the Series 4 really is an incredible piece of micro-engineering and design. There is a lot of content in such a small device and for the first time I really feel that the Series 4 delivers on the promises of its software, so we finally have hardware that can keep up with the features and the features have been further refined to be much more useful and much clearer in terms of how to use them, so although it took a while, the series to watch definitely has the polish and performance you expect. from an Apple device, okay, that will help me with this video, if you enjoyed it, let me know with a like and I'll see you again in the next one.
