Antilatency | Best tracking system for indie Virtual Production?

Jun 06, 2021
anti-fucking latency, yeah, the videos here, I'm going to talk about the new

tracking

system

, the anti-latency

system

, and I'll probably touch on some, you know, general stuff about our

virtual

production

studio here, the

virtual

star studios, Alright. Friends, do you notice something different about me? In fact, I had time to cut my hair. I don't have bags under my eyes. I think maybe not, no, and overall I feel good. I sleep well and I could say it's mainly thanks to our

tracking

system finally working. it's the anti-latency tracking system uh and you know it works like a dream and that's probably why I'm trying to find a new tracking system uh other than the live one, don't get me wrong, the vibe has been treating me very well and to the studio we built.

The whole studio is following up with my wife, but as you probably already know, she has a lot of problems with drifting and fidgeting and is generally unstable and working on a live TV

production

is not something you want to do. cope. The main problem I had with tracking the wife is that I spent so many hours in front of each production, just calibrating it, recalibrating it and you know, on the day of the shoot, it didn't matter that I calibrated it yesterday, I have to recalibrate it because the orientation changed and I spent too much time on it and that's why I started looking for other solutions.

More Interesting Facts About,

antilatency best tracking system for indie virtual production...

Of course, I looked at moses and skype. They are great systems, but they are out of my price range, it wasn't decent. options for me and that's why we're really happy to thank my friend uh juwan volke from 20 studios who talked about, you know, there's some Russian guys who did a really cool virtual reality follow up on virtual reality that's better than wife , so about three months ago I started seriously considering buying the anti-latency tracker and when we got it it was only in two boxes, they were very small and we got the ceiling version and I heard that mounting the ceiling could be very difficult and that's what?

Why do they recommend using an Armstrong system which is similar to an interior ceiling that you have in your regular office with the 60 by 60 tiles, which makes it easier to place the markers and the system works by having uh infrared markers uh in locations. special uh all over the ceiling and then on the cameras you have a tracker and on the tracker you have a little camera that's really wide angle and it's similar to skype and moses except you actually have real infrared lights instead of the trackers sending light infrared, the challenge of implementing it was that the use of the analysis system is based on the tracker looking at the ready-made plane and comparing it with the physical space to find and actually look at where the tracker is in the volume, that's why you have You have to mount the infrared markers very precisely and that's what the Armstrong headliner really helps with and if you could turn up the color to show the headliner and that's what our headliner looks like.

You already have a roof that is flat, it's probably no big deal to mount it, but since our roof is a little bit sloped, we had to build a whole new floating headliner where we could fit the Armstrong roof underneath and that was pretty difficult. but that's not in the latest system, uh, but now we installed it and it works very well, you can really trust the system and, yes, nowadays you sleep well at night, yes, and we did a great show, recently, the first big show with the new system and of all the problems you could have during the day the tracking was not a problem and that's good and everyone said that because we did the show last year with them also with the live system where we had a lot more nervousness. and stutter and we didn't have any of that now and the roof looks really cool so that's cool basically how this works is you put the trackers on the camera similar to the vive tracker and I chose to use a cable all the way to the control room and connect it directly to the computer, which generates a more reliable signal, then it's pretty cool because aximetry, which I use as virtual production software, just finds the tracker and you can use it like you use a wife tracker normal within the aximeter and the good thing about this system is that it is stable because always, every time I come every morning, the system, the cameras are in the same place, you do not have any orientation problems and you can really connect to the 3D world, which which is perfect and something you want, and the fun thing is that you have little trackers that can also run on wi-fi, which means you can track and put a tracker on. talent and having a billboard track that follows you so you can walk in front of and behind things in 3D and you can also use it in your hand to do things that we've been trying with some virtual drums or knowing how to do product demos where talent can just point it in the air and make things happen, uh, and that's cool, it's very small, very robust and very attractive, so you can easily have it in your hand in front of the camera and it's very easy to set up when you are using multiple cameras at least in and calibrate, you know the position of the tracker compared to the sensor and having the camera actually calibrated in space, it's also easy because you don't have the orientation problem and it's very small and it's easier.
Mounting the bracket on the camera instead of having a wife tracker which is very bulky and you don't really know where the pivot is on the live tracker I guess, but this is super easy and we made some other improvements in the studio. to make things easier and I think that also helped me get a better calibration of the virtual cameras and the physical cameras because we bought two new canon lenses with the servo zoom which are the canon cn uh 18 at 70 thousand and the canon cn 82 I don't know what it is like 70 to 120 or something like that and it works very well, especially since now we have the glass brand working, uh, what are the lens encoders that can send the lens signal or the lens values to the virtual? camera, I had the glass mark for a while, but I couldn't get it to work confidentially without stuttering on our network system, but now he, low-level virtual Andy, who is making the excellent glass mark encoders, has released an update where you can run the encoders over the cable to the computer, which means we don't have any stuttering.
We just started working today with the new update, but we need to calibrate the lenses at all the different focal lengths to make it really accurate, but we finally have a good working setup with everything, so we use the latest version of Ant as a tracker, we used the glass marker encoders to get the focal and lens data into the computer and we used xymetry for everything software wise and one more thing we did for an update. is to buy a standalone shoe gun studio 2 to record both composite images and we can also record the clean signal because sometimes you want to change some things after recording them and then it's nice to have a clean signal just from the green screen like Well, I also had a talk with high latency because before purchasing the entire system I wanted to be brief in that we did not buy dead space or dead equipment and they are very happy in the world with the production community and now they are looking to really go headlong into making latency really work good for virtual production and it's already working very well, but now that they have their eyes open, they're really going to put some effort into making it even better for us in the global production space.
Yeah, the only guy who built this roof is the one who called and he's a master engineer, which is cool, so he has a lot of good friends who helped us with the solution. He did a really excellent, solid, solid job. Should I mention how we made the bookmarks? Yes, could you hover over it? So one of the big problems, no, not big problems, is that the infrared markers must be placed precisely at the millimeter point for the system to work perfectly and what Antalytus recommends is that you take the tiles and go to a CNC cutter and CNC the hose, that's probably easier, but we didn't know of any CNC guy that could do it or, in fact, we did it because we had a CNC guy that did this and this is a callous invention, which is just two two holes where we should put them all so we can, what's it called, drill the holes in the shingles, that's precisely the right place and line them up along the entire length of the roof and this he did very quickly and I think we did it.
The setup, except for building the interior roof, but to set up the ant dormancy system, took two to four hours, maybe four hours, making all the holes, putting the markers in, and making all the cables to the infrared markers and that is. I guess and putting on the bindings and we had 72 markers so it's not a difficult setup and then after everything was done I just clicked everything on and turned everything on and put a tracker on the camera and it just worked so I'm pretty happy and I guess along with the glass brand encoders you have everything you need to achieve great water production and I don't know what else to say and what else can I say they have two versions we have the roof version but they also have a version of floor which are ready-made tiles that you can walk on with the markers and it's not really suitable because we want to use the floor of course, but we could probably settle for just the floor version, but since we want to follow the talents it's also very good to have the tracker here so the talent can walk around with the sign yes and that's it, I don't know, I thought I was going to burn a wife tracker or something, but actually deleting the tracker served me two years it was pretty surprising, but now we move on and we have a better system and we can do better things and focus more on doing the creative side rather than just calibrating all the time, so check it out.
I'm going to be in the comments and I hope you guys got your feedback and what I think about it, that's all guys, I'm glad you signed up and keep rocking. Can you say keep rockin'? It's that cheesy, all of me is cheesy.
