AFTERMATH of F1 Driver SENDING the BMW M4 over the Nürburgring

May 30, 2021
good morning comrades welcome back to the channel welcome back to nu

rburgring

welcome back to apex nurburg last week I uploaded a video where I did a lab together with the formula one

driver

robert kubica in the bmw m4 that is right behind me in this moment and it's so far the most successful video I've ever posted, over two and a half million views so far, so thank you all for all the comments, all the shares, all the likes, it's been amazing, great for the channel, I hope you enjoyed the content too. now it will be today will be a follow up video, we will show you what this car really is to show you the configuration of the car because it is not just a stock car that you can rent for Nu

rburgring

. we're going to show you the most important thing what robert has done to the car what he does what he does 36 laps to the novocrine noise lifespan 756 kilometers due to a car when driven at the limit but first I'm going to start with a couple of misconceptions that were like follow the video a couple of comments that people made so i want to get into that so first of all people were like oh misha you've never been restless before you were like scared well let me tell you it was a very trip , very comfortable, in fact, you can also see at the beginning of the video that I am taking the race navigator out of the telemetry system that is here, so I was holding it between my legs for the entire lap and then filming with both hands with the gopro just like that now you would probably ask why you would take off the iron, which is like it was a big telemetry system but with 720p camera quality.

Sorry, it's not 1998 anymore, so yes, Aaron, please. do something like more yeah for today's standards of the future anyway enough to criticize uh also quickly about the camera that I'm using because it's a recurring question like, hey, do you use gimbal? because in the past I used to use gimbals, but nowadays I don't, it's just simple. Gopro eight put on like a suction cup because that allows me to turn my arms easier and I like to give you these action shots, so being in this position was still very comfortable and the reason I'm quiet is because there are two types. of content a that focuses on driving where you want to show all the driving in its glory and b where the driving you just moderate it and you have to like it animates the video by talking and there are also examples of videos in which I was both fast and talking, for example, me doing the turn blindfolded last year we still did seven minutes or one uh I'm probably going to say well, you were blindfolded, you weren't scared anyway uh it was a very comfortable second right of all the people say like You've never gone this fast before big lies because there are many other examples on my channel, several of them just to name a few, including in 2016, with klaus, the former owner of uh x631, which was like about seven. minutes uh with about seven we did 706 or something recently with the senna with many more turns and the lapid robert was 7 24 I think it looks a little shorter in the video itself because we cut the branch height segment, but anyway a lot of fast laps, I even drove that fast in races with slower cars etc. anyway, so enough about that and finally, number three is that people have been saying, oh uh, you had to go with him as an instructor and uh, he even made you stay quiet as an instructor because you were very impressed.

More Interesting Facts About,

aftermath of f1 driver sending the bmw m4 over the n rburgring...

No, some people, some website said it was mandatory. No, what we said in the video is that he went to another rental company first. There, it was mandatory to go as an instructor. like with the instructor and that's why he went somewhere else in our case, we said, "Okay, well, you're Robert Kuvin, so here's the car, here you go, have fun and after, I think, six laps or something like that, he came back and said, Hey, can you?” Give me some tips so Lewis, one of our instructors, went out with him and showed him that it was okay, you would take these three corners like this and it was good and I went out with him on his 16th lap, I think just for the sake of Now that the video has said all that, I want to share a story with you where I was scared shitless as an instructor on a really really slow lap because one day someone came here and said: Hey, I'd like to give my dad a birthday gift and let him Driving experience the noise of Nurburgring life is something you always wanted.

Well cool, I rode the BMW 218 which is a manual transmission car because it needed to be manual like a real sports car and it was one of the slowest laps. Also, the gentleman hasn't driven the manual for probably the last 20 years, so it was a great idea on the busiest Sunday afternoon you can imagine with 400 cars, trains of gt3 rss m3s flying by and you just say stay well, stay well, stay. Right traffic behind you, keep right and that was very scary and if you're thinking okay son and dad, kind of like okay, Sam was 18 and that was 40, no, he was 87, yeah , that was definitely the scariest lap, so I would go. any day with robert kubica in a fast lap that yes with someone like this caliber, that is one of my scariest experiences, so anyway, with all that being said, let's get in the car, it's already in the lift, george It's there waiting for us and let's go.

Show us first what modifications have been made to a car and then see what we had to replace after 36 laps with Robert Kubica. Well, first of all let us show you what we've done to the car to make it more compatible with the nervous system. so to speak, let's start with the most obvious: the engine and it is completely stuck. 431 horsepower is definitely enough for Nurburgring life, as demonstrated by Robert and many others, so this is completely stuck with respect to the jrz suspension we see here. rs pro 3 way adjustable suspension which we can also see here works with kw springs brake application advanced performance parts brake discs along with rsl 29 pad package the calipers are original because in the f-80 system the calipers are fine, everything before f80 you had to replace because it's like it doesn't work, am I right more or less?
Yes ok moving on to the interior we have pool position recaro seats along with shrut racing harnesses which is basically very common so there is a combination for the german track. Use it because you can put it in the papers, it's street legal and it still has enough support and it's great in front of the half cage in the rear, um, yes, alcantara steering wheel and that's it for the interior modifications , there's not much else to do right. Very, very important modification regarding the interior and that is the weight that we have eliminated. We have not measured the car, but like before and after, but it must have been close to 200 kilos in weight because m4 is not traditionally in the recent.
I also like a very luxurious car with a lot of insulation material and similar material, um, all the unnecessary weights, so the best mod you can make for m4 takes everything out and it will be great, much better, also, in the back again . We are using the same rsl 29 pads, original brake discs, original calipers, also again the 3-way adjustable rs pro suspension tee and kw springs and also the kinematic shermer kit why the tow bar you said yes, yes, the tow bar at the rear, so no? a complete kit on the front and rear only that important question is regarding the wheels and tires so currently the car sits on the original wheels with michelin ps4 as tires because it is raining outside and this is our setup for the rain.
Very good ps4 tires that will do it. It also works on our taxis like the taxi 620r gt2 rs and m3 but the car with the kubita lab had pro chuck wheels along with 265 265 front 295 rear 265 front 295 rear nankang air a slick tire which we also use on all our cars for dry conditions, like the m4 wheel and the race car and anything you can think of, these were the tires. Did I miss something regarding George's modifications? Then we have, of course, the wing, which is the wing m4 gts, uh, and I think. That's it, yes that's it, so again the most important thing is that the engine is original, it's mainly the suspension, tires and weight and some other improvements.
The exhaust also got stuck and now I guess let's move on to the most interesting part: what were the consequences of 36 laps. by the formula one

driver

, very good, we will start with the most obvious because they are already turned off because we have changed them so that the wheel bearings can see where the grease is coming from. This is like the telltale sign that the wheel The bearing is starting to fail or if the F80s and that era um you can obviously see the grease coming out the front you can't see from the back but you can see from here we're starting to spit the fat now. when they're in the car with a little bit of load, you can hear them start to complain, you can feel it more than hear it, now you can feel that the bearing is starting to fail, um, but yeah, that was the main thing.
What stood out about it all is that the car is being pushed hard, that's literally all when you're loading the car into the corners, especially when you're running a lower offset wheel with wheel spacers, it really puts a lot of strain. in the bearing, that's why they fail pretty quickly, obviously the heat and the usual time to replace a bearing, it really depends on the car, the driver and all this kind of stuff, the m3 taxi, if we use that as a point of reference, we will replace them. probably every two or three hundred laps I guess around that mark so maybe less depending on how you get up to speed so there's no question why they replace them so quickly on this car it really like I say it really depends . because you could ask a guy to rent it for 50 laps and drive, let's use a time as a reference point, let's say a 10 minute lap at a time, yeah, and they'll be fine, it'll be fine, but someone can, but then someone could come . you get in and start running seven minutes of flat laps and management and every car imaginable and that's it, every wheelbarrow is destroyed in about 50 laps, so it really depends, it really depends, well that's regarding the wheel bearings , another important thing that many people have.
I asked like because when we mentioned that we had to rebuild the car as a joke, but also not as a joke because a lot of components had to be replaced, people asked about the engine because the s65, uh, right, s55, s55, sorry, the s65 like the previous one, uh m3. e46 domestic aspirated um yes this is the completely original engine as currently the car has about 70,000 kilometers on it can we take a look at it just one question this is the completely original engine they never did anything to it uh we have the car. I think that with fifty thousand kilometers eighty-one eight g7 one, out of eighty-one thirty thousand kilometers they have always been driven on the track without stopping and it is still the original engine.
The important thing I want to mention is that we are running again. m3 taxi f80 m3 as a taxi we could have remapped the car and the turbos blew afterwards not sure this was before I came but I think they were about 40k gone yeah 40,000 kilometers yeah so again, you can continue. well, it can go wrong, but at this point it's totally fine regarding the engine, now we move on to other consumables, maybe we'll talk about the brakes, maybe we can put the car a little higher on the lift, okay, so 29 pills tell us about the pants.
Are these the exact pads that were working since then, like uh, since Robert dropped the car? So before we drove it I made sure the pads were replaced because obviously we know the car is going to be driven hard so on the RS we put new ones on. set of rsl 29 in all respects they were obviously new so i have a new set that you can use as a comparison with how quickly they have worn out so these are some new pads this is how much yes let's try hold them against the disk so we can see the comparison you can see maybe from above it would be maybe so you can say probably half yeah I would say more or less about that yeah so it gives you an idea of how much standard of living generally It depends on the driver, it depends on the assists, if the car is running on a system it really depends, but we generally don't see too much brake wear on this, we generally race.
The PFC pad, um, that we used on the original discs, I found that it wore better, so it wore out longer, but now obviously we're back to the RSL 29 because the feel of the pedal is a little bit. better on these discs, especially, uh, but the wear, as I say, depends, okay, depends on a very fun fact, uh, fun for a lot of people who wouldn't imagine that and who aren't familiar with track driving, the rear pads, in Robert's case, have done it. much better than anyone who drives the carinexperienced because normally you would drive with the traction control on and so what the car does is break the rear wheels with the brakes to make sure the car doesn't skid or don't like the rear brake. but when you ride with the full system off of course the rear brakes don't work as much so a stock driver can probably destroy a set of rear pads if they are constantly in traction control, they don't even know what they are doing to to be honest. even the fronts even the fronts that we have we have a set of fronts that are outside the car that we changed the calipers on um from where the car was run just in mdm mode so obviously mdm gives you a little bit of clearance so you can feel a little more freedom with the car, but essentially it's still in control and it's still hitting the brakes all the time and stopping you from turning the car.
Obviously that generates a lot of heat so you have the special because it's obviously a clockwise circuit the left side the left front The gear builds up a lot of heat very quickly so all four brakes get very hot, they always bite constantly and wears out the pad very quickly, yes, as you probably could if Robert drove the laps with MDM on, he obviously would have. struggled but if he did and pressed that hard I would have said these pads would have turned metallic for their turns yeah sure easily now and the last thing oh we can also see a very new brand bearing which is cool finally Of course, the tires are very important Consumable, eh, what about the tires, George, how many laps have you done or what is the result of this?
So these tires get new about halfway through their laps, so basically around 20th, yeah, roughly, you can see where it's starting to wear on this. this shoulder where the tread is this is normal for ai's this is this always happens um obviously you can see where it's really blue here in this section so it's really hot where it's been leaning on the side wall um so yeah, the tire To be honest, these tires are pretty good, they've done a lot better than I thought, but the previous set I think they had done about 20 laps on the previous set, yeah, um, and obviously at the halfway point when we switched to these . when they were done they were done I think even the front was starting to delaminate on the outside edge so here we're starting to get a little bit of shine and on the inside edge it was obviously one because obviously the camera we ran a lot of negative camber with , yeah, of course, yeah, so in the last 20 quarters we would normally aim for 80 to 100 laps, I think so, yeah, with something like, yeah, we get the normal, yeah, like the m3 taxi is different, we get a lot less laps with it because it's so heavy because of the weight in the car and the way it drives obviously Tim drives pinned every lap so yeah but yeah normally we would see I would probably say an average of around 50 turns for a set of air turns on this average, yes.
I would say that's right, yeah, so again I had a lot to do with the driving style as well, like you're really pushing the car and there's nothing wrong with that, it's the fact that Robert actually said, yeah , I know the track approximately. from the simulator, but I don't know exactly, so he just applied his rally driving style and just pushed it and said, "Oh, I'm

sending

it", it was a very spectacular ride, I enjoyed it a lot and, having said that, So it came here and suffered a painful pull that is 2,250 euros for 12 laps, including the ticket and fuel, and the car multiplied by three, which makes it almost close to seven thousand.
Now, thinking about everything we had to replace afterwards, we didn't. any money you will say of course the parts cost less but you have to take into account the car, the purchase of the car, the insurance, George's salary of course after all too so at the end of the day it was as a Well, in compensation we have of course a huge marketing profit from that so there is nothing to complain about and in the end all these prices are based on an immediate moment in which we will have a driver like Robert entering and

sending

.
We are not going to complain about the car because tomorrow or the next day we will have a driver who will go in and do 20 minute laps and do laps and do 20 laps on the tank, yes, figuratively speaking, so it's something. in the middle, so it's like you know, like a little transparency business that we would like to share with you now. The last thing that was actually quite funny, not funny, well, yeah, funny, so let's say he said he drove the car so hard. Mind you, the diffuser part is cast this good, you can see how warped it is here, yeah, and if I let it go because I haven't put cable ties on it yet, which you're not supposed to do because you're not supposed to must come. untrimmed but in the middle this was like hanging so here we go this was like melted in this position it got so hot it melted in this position so obviously it's completely obvious that I've moved it around but now it's got hot, it I've moved back, I need to fix it there, but yeah, it's um, yeah, it got hot, it got hot, it got hot, good driving, good driving, so yeah, overall, we're not like I said, those things are just The things typical things that happen when you drive the car at the Nurburgring and you can also come and take this car out to the ring or you can take it for a spin as a passenger with any of our other cars.
I hope you enjoyed this video, I think we covered it. pretty much everything about direct replacements, you said you'd replace something else too? Obviously we've done a full service so dct oil the engine oil service um full service after it's been driven so hard obviously the oil gets. Heat loses its viscosity, it loses all its properties through heat and then yeah, so we change all the oils and stuff too. What else was there? I think that was it. Yes, that was more or less. Overall, not that bad, not great, no. Terrible, as they would say, nice, yes, so yes, we are looking forward to doing more laps with this car and we also hope to have a reference point, maybe another Formula One driver will come and show us what there was.
There was one more thing, oh, one more thing, there was one more thing, so I can take it and show you that it's easier the inner CV joint on the right side where it gets so hot that the grease expands, yeah, and causes a leak. of liquid. Basically okay, so the CV grease leaks out the side of the Gator. Where are we here? So this this clip here is the one that was leaking. You could probably see it. Yes, you can see a leak there. It can be seen. some rams I haven't cleaned all of them properly, so yes, obviously the grease gets so hot that it expands and then causes a leak normally.
How is it cured? I'm not sure if you have it in this car if it's in the taxi it's in the taxi so it's easy to show from this angle where the alligator is here you usually take the clip off and lift the alligator up and put it on like a little roller or like an um, a paper clip or something like that. there and then put the clip back on, tighten it so you have a little space there for air to escape, so it doesn't swell, it doesn't leak, and it doesn't cause any harm to the alligators, yeah, which is what we have in mind. the m3 taxi and it has been perfect so far so it works well.
Thank you so much. I hope you enjoyed this video as mentioned. I will try to make an exit for the first time. One more thing I want to say. I'm very proud of it, George, can you show me your phone? Please, my phone yes, just the data, let me get rid of the notifications, just today's date, today's date, yeah, oh wait, listen, oh, notifications, we don't know, it's nice, no, it's okay , let me. wait, wait, ten hours long, yeah, a few moments later, here we go, let's go, the video has been filmed, edited and posted today, so uh, like, subscribe, like, share and watch the nervous ones , thanks for watching, bye, no food.
We spent all the money rebuilding the car.
