I hate, hate ticks. I know you have to be very careful what you are for and against. We're taking a stand every time you take us in 2017, when you take a stand on anything you offend anyone, we've offended all the tick lovers, it's going to bite you in the ass, yeah, and by the way, I've I've had family members that have been tick bitten on the butt oh man growing up I died, that's cool, the person was a spider, but they died, had a relative die, was bitten by a spider, yeah, it was, yeah, it was he sat down, he sat down on the toilet and a spider bit him on the butt and he died because of it a tick was not involved why are we discussing this?
Are you sure he died from the spider bite or just complications that arose? Well, he didn't die immediately, he didn't. Like yeah, he died from complications from whatever a spider bite gives you, man, what year was it, don't check me, he was in an outhouse, so it was a long time ago before your time, it's like it was a story that lives in your family my nanny lucille's side of the family because one day when i was a kid i was like tell me about my relatives last words what i remember was starting a conversation with my nanny and i said tell me about the last words of my relatives. very morbid thought of a child and um she said well you had a member of our family who was bitten by a spider on the butt in the outhouse and died.
I was like, what did she say it's like if you have to leave? I have to go look for him. Did he really say that? It was a joke the babysitter made. It was a joke I just made up. I don't remember what he said. Oh, you made it up on the spot. I was very proud of myself. So you didn't laugh well. I was really thinking: Why don't you laugh? Are you holding back for some reason? Yes, I won't laugh. Let's get to that because I want people to know why you didn't do it. laugh at my amazing joke when you have to leave you have to say double meaning I'm not laughing because I'm saving my voice you can probably tell you can probably tell I think the listener sounds a little different there's not as much resonance in my voices you sound sad as always actually you sound sad I want people to know that you're not sad um I'm not sad I'm worried what we're going to talk about I don't love you he's sad I don't want you to worry too much, but if you remember last week when we were talking to Steve Pink, friend and collaborating director from the second season of Buddy System, I had to abruptly exit the podcast because I needed to get to my appointment with the ENT, Ear, Nose and Throat doctor, so I don't know how much of this I explained to you before, but to summarize, you know, like in last month, like the last month of the buddy system, i had some kind of problem. -Again, again, a cold like sore throat that I simply attributed to me being stressed, working too much, not getting enough sleep.
You know, I have a little bit of a cold, I can't shake it because I can't rest and and whatever, um and also your immune system is weak because you're working well but also trying to keep up with me like three and a half weeks or so in this guy. of mild sore throat, you know, we're in the last week of filming, well, first of all, there's a lot of screaming. I thought about the fact that there is a lot of screaming this season. It was like, oh, stick your feet in this bucket and scream, open this door, look at this girl and scream, yeah. in unison, I'll tell you right now not to yell at your friend's system anymore.
You will do what happened. You'll do a search and replace in every script you write for the word scream. You are going to replace the word scream. with whisper Jesus, I actually thought about this gentle whisper and I look sad from now on, when we have to shout in a narrative project, we will get a designated direction, someone else will designate me, yellow pinch and everything I'm going to do. What I have to do is just open my mouth, well it's funny because we had that scene where we open the door and we're supposed to yell at this girl, um, and we rehearsed it and told her that since she's pretty young, We didn't want to scare her.
We told him we were going to scream in your face really loud, but then when we rehearsed it, we said, but first we'll act like we're screaming, but no sound will come out of our throats. In fact, I told him I wish I had stayed there, we should have stayed there, yeah, because I was screaming enough for both of us and coincidentally, I'm still fine, I'm great, yeah, and I think I'm based on limited reading. I've done something limited, again, so I went to the doctor. What I thought had happened is okay, I kicked myself when I was down like you're engaged, you know, drainage and things that happen in your throat and then you strain your voice screaming. and I felt a little bit in a tailspin and I haven't really been able to rest my voice and then today we're going out with the team, we're going to talk about it and I was outside, it's really crowded, so I'm talking so now you can hear that I'm hoarse and This is what has been happening every day.
I've woken up and I feel fine, like I have a slight sore throat and then at the end of the day, I feel like my voice is a little strange, so I went to the doctor and I went to the doctor right after last week. I came to the podcast right before we left for New York because I thought, if I'm going to have to be on some kind of vocal rest or something, if there's a note or something on my vocal cords, if I've strained them, I need to know what to do so I don't make it worse. the problem but and you I want things to get better if things can get better quickly by going to the doctor before we go to Fallon and, uh, Ryan and Kelly, they would like to be able to talk when we go on these shows, and he went to the doctor and what? did?
What happened? Well, it's very, it was a strange doctor's appointment. I told you this, but I'll tell you now. um, but I wasn't listening, so I was like, yeah, just listen this time, then, so I had to leave. about an hour from here to make an appointment because it was last minute so I will point out that if I listened I could tell the story and then you could save your voice too late for that and so I had to drive an hour I went to this doctor and I noticed that the girl behind the counter who was checking me in, but also another girl, we were acting a little strange when I checked in like a cult, I don't like it and this sounds pretentious?
And because this has happened several times, it's not uncommon for one of us to be recognized when we're out in public because people watch the show. I mean, sometimes someone looks. You're funny or you say something in a weird way and just because we're selfish, uh, self-absorbed people, we tend to think oh, she must know who I am and then there are times when it turns out to be true and other times it's like, oh no. , she has no idea who I am, that was kind of weird and self-centered because I'm an eco-maniac, you know, like everyone's fine, I'm not, I think when it happens, it happens enough.
It turns out that people have recognized me I know what that look looks like and I recognize it but sometimes you're wrong sometimes you're wrong yes but I don't think that makes me an ego maniac well I'm just saying that we are all egomaniacs we are all that I know you I'm just trying to get out of the cube with you um but they didn't say you're covering but they felt the same you felt the same I mean this receptionist yeah but it was weird because they weren't really looking me in the eyes and it was bit strange.
I thought about what was happening and then another, but you thought maybe she recognizes me. That's right, but I didn't say anything and then another woman comes out and she's like an older woman wearing a cool pantsuit, she looks like some kind of office manager or something, she's not one of the nurses. she's not in a scrubs, she says, and that's why you said pantsuit, no, you didn't say something, you weren't being sexist, no, because she had a pantsuit instead of a scrubs, yeah, and she and she are like Rett me too. I just got my paperwork, I hadn't even looked at it, please come back, so I go back there and she and she's like, "Well, the girls in the back are so excited and I'm like, oh, okay, they know who I am." ".
And now I'm going to feel a little uncomfortable because what am I supposed to say? And I said something like cool, so for a second you weren't an egomaniac, but then you said cool and you were back to being one. Yeah, I mean, well. I'm just trying to downplay it because I'm not looking at it, yeah, I'm not looking for special treatment, you know, I just want, I want normal treatment, medical treatment, yeah, right, and then the girls in the back were pretty exciting, so I go and sit, yeah, what do you say in the exam room?
I said great, so I sit in the exam room and then she's like one of our nurses or you know who's who, who comes in before the doctor. She's a nurse, that's a mystery to me, so about 10 minutes later I knock on the door, I'm done with my paperwork, a young 25 year old girl comes in and looks at me and has this kind of smile. face and her face is getting a little red a little red and she just smiled at me and I smiled back and then she sits down in front of the computer where she likes to take notes from her for my pre-like . -interview before the daughter comes in and she says I'm really nervous and she gets up and leaves that's all she said and she said she said I'm really nervous and then she left and I was like well I'm sitting here thinking You know me and we'll talk about this.
I'm a hypochondriac. I've talked about it before, but yeah, yeah, I'm pretty worried about coming in here, you know, I'm going through something good, I have throat cancer, I have thyroid, you know, that's all I have, I think I have it all and I have some kind of throat. and I'm going to have to be on vocal rest for weeks and that's going to change our fall and I'm verymade. said out loud this is what this has become mythical entertainment requires a big old bus that's something to be proud of yeah and then uh you started to feel a little egotistical yeah right and I was like that doctor's office thing I think it's your A real problem you would be seeing a different type of doctor.
I'm still reading that book. The ego is the enemy. I need to read it more. I guess. So we got there with the team in tow because we came back and didn't do it. Not so many people have returned. I don't know if heatstroke happens or some people were driving in cars. Do we leave some people? I think Eddie was wearing jeans. Yeah, I think he and Ben came back on a different path. If I was. Thinking I knew it was going to be hot there because I had been to Santa Clarita before and it was literally 110 degrees.
I thought, man, let's go there and I looked at it was going to be packed. It wasn't 110 today and it was 100 100 and then I started thinking what am I going to use? Do I have to wear shorts? Oh my gosh, I have to wear, I have to wear the right kind of shoes. use, I had to pack a backpack, I noticed you asked me about my backpack, I thought, well, I thought a lot about my backpack, well, what was in it?, a big water bottle with ice and water and it had like a straw, It was one of them, it was the biggest one we had, I thought I might bring a second one, I didn't, but I thought I had to stay hydrated, you know me, I know, you know, I have to stay hydrated, I have to keep that voice , but they had what I mean, they had water in the park.
I also want to say that you have to buy it or you get it from water sources, which I knew I would still have to go to the water source, but it would fill a container because this is what happens that this is all a survival situation, 100 ago degrees out there, it felt post-apocalyptic, it's like there weren't that many people and it was like roller coasters of reptiles everywhere and people serving hot dogs and then just lifeless people. crawling from one thing to another wasn't that bad it's like a deserted wasteland of fun and you get in a line brother don't be thirsty in a line because no one is going to turn around and oh here sir, have a hydrating drink, no You're on your own until you get off this ride, but all this goes for a lot of places, but to get water, no, when you're in a line, man, you could be in a line for hours, but I have a bottle of water and there's also a pain reliever in my backpack, okay, but it's okay when I'm still dehydrated for some reason and my head hurts, there is a lip balm that of course I must have, that I not only make it, but I keep it for only one person. at all times, keeping your lips hydrated, that's an important part, yes, I think personally I think you've become dependent on it, but I don't care because we sell it, I had sunglasses on, I wore contact lenses because if I take my I don't want to have to switch between glasses and sunglasses when I go from an indoor line to an outdoor roller coaster, so I wear, I wore contact lenses and then I wore, I need transition lenses, men's sunglasses, uh, I think there are security concerns for those because at the time of the transition, which turns out to be a couple of minutes, I think no, I think it's like 30 seconds, even seconds. 30 seconds, you can hit a big wall in 30 seconds, but you look really hard. to go out you look so cool for 30 seconds when you walk in it's like that guy is wearing sunglasses inside and you're like no, no, wait, wait, wait, wait, transition, you walk into a dark place and you have to freeze there until you transition , so it's like you come in and stop and recover.
I think it's cool that people are crowding behind you trying to get into the establishment that you're just trying to see, let me tell you right now, and then you go back out. I need glasses, they will be transition lenses because I have thought about this quite a bit, you think you thought about this more than I did. I had had contact lenses. He had sunglasses. I had another pair of sunglasses that weren't prescription glasses either in case the first ones. The sunglasses he was wearing were uncomfortable in the middle of the day. I had my prescription sunglasses on, how could they be uncomfortable?
Because sometimes the way they sit on my face, certain places where they sit hurt if I don't wear them every day. The glasses that I don't wear often are very comfortable. These are my night glasses. I wear them when I go home because I do wear my daytime glasses, which are the glasses I'm known for at night when I get home. I start pushing in certain places and I need new glasses that push in different places, so when I got home I put on my night glasses that I wear now because it's night and I packed them to go with me today in case I had to quit.
Contact lenses because they would be uncomfortable so I packed these glasses and then I also packed my prescription sunglasses so in my backpack now I understand why you needed a pack. I had two pairs of non-prescription sunglasses. I didn't realize how crazy this was. was that I didn't add it a third pair of prescription sunglasses a pair of prescription glasses and then you and Stevie at one point put your glasses in my backpack, when you were asking me, can I put my glasses in your backpack before we? Go on this roller coaster, you notice I got a little stressed, yeah, it was really good because there would be six pairs of glasses in my backpack and I didn't know if my backpack could handle them.
I didn't know what would happen to everyone. Those lenses now that I see the level of i, I am very familiar with them. I also thought I'd bring a hoodie. Well, that would have been inappropriate. I literally thought for a second because I could be cold, even in the shade. if it's 100 degrees sometimes in the shade it can be a little cold no, no, no, I haven't known this about you for a long time, we've talked about it, you have a different level of sensitivity to these things. um a lot of differences between you and me one of the differences is I didn't pack a pack for you that's right I took it you know I guess I'm grateful you brought a pack I used your pack you did it it was like your father.
I put it right, I use your backpack for a trip, I put my hat on even though I specifically said, you know what, I can leave my hat on the rack and then Stevie said your hat could be stolen, I said, okay, I'll put it on. . It was in Link's backpack along with Stevie's cowboy hat. Yeah, sure, she had her big Stetson there. I don't know how she got it in there. She was like she was bending. She doubled over a little because I took it out and gave it to her. she was a little bit, but um, I just don't have those sensitivities, so I don't need the pack.
I felt like I was entering a survival situation and I did it thanks to the pack. You only made it because of me, but I'm kinda, where would you have cared about yourself when you're in a real post-apocalyptic survival situation because you were at Six Flags, not over Georgia, but over Santa Clarita? actually I want to say that all my needs were met, I appreciate that you satisfied the need to put my hat in your bag, but at the time I was very hydrated because what I did was when I saw a place that sold water, which Now it's okay, you saved. money you bought water you saved money you supported a bottled water industry which is negligence but I just received a large amount of water and drank it all I was completely hydrated I peed several times today I sweated a lot you know mark my territory around six

flags

over georgia I literally peed twice throughout the day and I drank constantly I fed myself three times I don't know how I did it you sweated but I didn't know it's just that at first I didn't know you I didn't realize I didn't realize when we were getting on that bus before leaving the studio what did you say that you turned to me you saw my backpack and you said you had a backpack.
I was interested in what you might have there and then. I said other people have packages and then you leave them which is good, we learned not to push each other's buttons when having a fun day so you should be praised for staying away from the button but that's just me. I was generally interested you have a package I'm like what's in the package I could see it in your eyes I'm judging I did it yeah but that doesn't matter I could be judging the fact that you have a package but I'm also asking what's in your package , so you can choose to be defensive or you can just choose to be like well, I have seven pairs of glasses, well, I just had four ph levels of different waters.
At different times of the day I almost wear a hoodie, but now there is a windbreaker. I feel like that's the main reason we make ear cookies. I think it's becoming very clear at this point. This is a safe place for habit. have an argument that if we had exactly the same starting point as this argument on that bus at that moment would have ended in a fight, not entertainment, but no, no, no, but if you're not. Saying it could be my fault, I would have never wanted it to be a fight, I just wanted it to be a conversation, no no, you judged me for having a pack and I would have been defensive and if you judge me for having something.
It would be as if I agreed with you, yes, you would say so. It would give me, I would tell you the reason. You did it and I'm just saying if you feel like it. You're aggressive, if you feel like I'm judging you by asking you a question, just say why and I'd say okay, great, seven pairs of glasses, I get it, yeah, sure, but here, you know, in the auspices. from uh, the dim lighting we can have an entertaining conversation for sure, but you yourself just admitted, but only yourself, that's why you're talking that no, you shouldn't, as you describe your own situation, you recognize its ridiculous nature.
As you admit, it doesn't bother me, although I don't think there's anything wrong with your throat. I took advantage of the fact that you had a backpack, which is nothing wrong with your throat, but that's just fake, okay, I know, I know it's fake. Pushing a button, but I'm saying you knew you were being ridiculous for having hypochondria, having extreme thoughts, drawing extreme conclusions about what you could have, yeah, in this environment, you were saying you know what's entertaining because it's a little ridiculous, yeah . and I'm doing the same thing, we can do that here, that's the beauty of it, it's a safe space, this is a safe space for us to be ourselves and not take ourselves too seriously, but in the front of that bus we could to have had one of those things where the driver had to back up slowly and I mean, without the bus, that would have been ridiculous, would you admit it, that would have been ridiculous, but your fault, no, yeah, it would have been ridiculous.
I'm making fun of it. we yes we that the fight we didn't have I'm making fun of that fight we didn't even have well let's talk about the fun we had at the amusement park we broke up you had fun because like I know you're so tall and, well, I was telling you that I was regularly telling some stories from my past and the way I think about roller coasters and, uh, one of the most important things I think about when I ride one. roller coaster is: am I going to fit on this roller coaster because there are like seven different touch points that could ruin a roller coaster ride for me, the main two being that I don't have enough leg room, so now my throat?
It's one, well, yeah, well, I'll tell you, I'll explain it to you in a second, but I was just joking, no, but you're seriously going to explain it to me. Are my legs going to get trapped in the car in front of me somehow? that makes it uncomfortable and makes me think that my femur is going to break when the G forces are applied. And then the second thing is that if it's a roller coaster that has a shoulder restraint system, they build in the restraints to shoulders for normal size people inside. a certain range and I'm outside the normal range and usually a shoulder restraint goes, you don't have to get on a roller coaster, a shoulder restraint goes down and then it's parallel to the front of your body, but it's like it's like wearing a jumpsuit, it's the same reason you can't wear one, but the shoulder straps cover me and then they're like 45 because they don't quite cover me, so they don't cover me I feel secure in myself and then if I go too far, like I pull down too far and it locks in place, it creaks now I'm hunched over and now I'm starting to think about my back because even though my back is fine right now, historically I have all these disc problems in my back, you know, and now I'm thinking, oh, now I'm in a compromised situation and I can't get my neck back and I'm going to be thinking basically, I'm just thinking.
I'm not having fun yet, you stumbled upon that, because you know, for the team, what I thought today is that I enjoy doing things with people like that like I'm never like one of those guys that likes amusement parks. I'm open to I can ride any roller coaster. I just went to restaurants and ate, went to see the shows, that's what I did. I saw a great show. It's a great show. Oh God, you were there. It was a great show today. They drugged Cody and Jacob. to a show at Six Flags, a place known only for roller coasters, aha, quirk, quirk, the show at the Gearworks theater, check it outTonight's inadequate lighting of the show, right?
Which would have been fine with us, but you and the other kids would have been mad, so they stayed in our dressing room, they each had a dressing room, so we gave them one and then we took the other one and It was the third appearance on the show this time. night, we were finally there, it says a lot that we felt comfortable enough to make an appearance on a show that means a lot to us, because it's tonight's show that is super cool and to be invited back for a third time It's amazing, so there's a lot of pressure we put on ourselves that goes along with that, but it says a lot that we feel comfortable enough to bring our entire entourage, meaning all of our immediate blood relatives like to be running around. for the place. place and 30 Rock is a tight place, it's like it's not like, oh kids, you guys will have a lot of room and no one will notice.
It's like I'm pretty. You know we had to be pretty sure that, well, we're going to be comfortable. bringing our kids into this environment, like putting them in this room and doing these things, to give you an idea, I mean, this whole building was built a long time ago and a lot of entertainment has taken place in this building, but it's very interesting. . because you have like you know you have tonight's show on one floor and then you go up to another floor and you have Seth Meyers, you go up to another floor and you have snl like everything is happening right there, together but and I don't know if I have the correct facts about that, but basically that's how the floor is, what's on the floor, but the really interesting thing is that it feels like an office building when we come back, there's a small hallway and then everyone has their dressing room and we were very , you know, because even here in our space in Burbank it's like it's open and there's like a skylight because we're just, you know, no. in a tall office building, but it's like it was built for efficiency a long time ago, so it's over and suddenly you're going to walk into this hallway and boom, you're in the room you're in. you're on set and there's the audience, it's like how did he do this?
Everything is very narrow. The space fits here like the entire set. It's crazy, but one of the things I noticed is that people, some of you, commented on some of the videos. and i also saw this on social media and they said oh you guys are on tonight's show for the third time in a year you must be jimmy's close personal friends now he's bringing you back yeah which is true i want say, cool, it's good to be friends with jimmy now, but before it's like that morning we wake up and it's like, hey guys, do you want to come play handball, yeah, it's like, I've never played handball, it's like racquetball , but only with your right hand, I didn't know until we showed up at Jimmy's personal handball court, right in his apartment, which is amazing and all we needed were hands, he had the balls and then he He started making jokes later, so it's funny, if they want to come back later after the show, we can do that.
He says that usually the third guest sleeps the longest. Yeah, don't bring the kids, don't bring the wives, so that's a sleeping bag. It was a little awkward, but we. in your hands we had a sleepover his wife and son would be there but we didn't interact with them much we just played more handball yeah and by handball right now we still mean handball and what I'm really saying is that this is all a lie, we didn't do any of this, i mean, jimmy is nice enough to cut, he comes backstage, but while we're getting ready and says hey guys, welcome back, thanks for coming back and we thought we're so happy to be back, this is amazing, yeah, I don't mean handball isn't mentioned, it's like we're grateful to be here, yeah, and he's so nice and seems happy to have us, I mean, it's his always invitation. well think about it and then we can do it then he leaves and then we go out and do the show and then this is some guy we don't see who hosts a show that has different guests every night and I'm sure he's a close personal friend and plays handball with some of the guests.
How many people can you play handball with correctly? does jimmy fallon have jimmy been incredibly welcoming how many has he has two hands two we have two we have six but we have six six six of us but uh he's incredibly accommodating and nice and welcoming and it's always great to see him and we have a legit conversation and you know, when we're not doing the show, but no, it's not that he can't hang out, I mean, he can't just hang out with the people who come to a show, that's all I would do. and the same goes for us, if you come on our show, we can't hang out, we can't hang out with you, yeah, that's true, that's true, I'm sorry, but I think that we don't even play handball.
I've never played it, but the first time I played it can't be with you, right? I think what I was thinking is that there was a certain level of nervousness the first time we went out and I don't know. Think about some of this if you go back and watch the clips or whatever, I don't think any of this really shows, but I was really nervous the first time and this is the nervousness that exists before we go out, I think for both of us . As soon as the curtain opens and we're on the couch we're not nervous anymore, it's the days leading up to it and then the minutes right before the curtain opens and they say our name like that, it's very It's kind of nerve-wracking, but I said the second one Once we continued I was half as nervous and then this time I was a third as nervous.
It's like decreasing by a percentage each time, well, next time we won't be zero. nervous, no, we will be, it's not healthy to be even a quarter nervous, so it's a practically proportional asymptotic, yes, you will never stop being nervous, but my theory is that you go down at a rate of a fraction of the number of times you are . I've been there, but a function never hits its asymptotes exactly, you know there's always going to be a certain low level of nervousness and there needs to be, but I mean, we have that in our own show, but mythical tomorrow, I didn't like to think like you.
I know I wasn't like we would ever do that show again having diarrhea, you know, I think the first time we went, I probably shit like three or four times that day, you know, you start passing everything out because your body is like you're into battle, stink, evacuate so you can be light on your feet. I probably screwed up one day that day, this time you know I didn't count, but I'll do it next time and so on, but this time it's like Jimmy comes back and it's like, hey, our kids are here, come here and we'll have some pictures with them. , I even tweeted oh I have a photo and I tweeted it, that's pretty good for me, pretty good for you, link, I tweeted a photo that I took, but I was Proud man, I'm proud of those children of ours and our wives.
The wives weren't in it because the wives weren't in the photo because they were the audience. They are over 16 years old. They are over 18, which is even more important. and they were in the audience at the time we took the photo with Fallon and then they did a behind the scenes, hey, can you do a behind the scenes for our channel? We are absolutely so let's do it with the kids so we went in there where the kids are and if you haven't seen it you should see it but the miraculous thing is that Lando was in the video.
I can't, I can't, I can barely get him to do it. being in a photo in a photo he likes taking photos but he doesn't like being in photos many photographers are like that yes, he's like Banky mm-hmm he's not a photographer no, I know what it is but it's similar I didn't have to explain that analogy , I get it, I want you to see his art as if you were in Banksy's house and it was like shooting from the ground to another place, yeah, don't go there, but I asked. Hey guys, Lando wants to be in a behind the scenes video and he sits down and we're all sitting, you know, we're sitting on the couch and they ask us like superlatives who would get the award and we're left with the kids. to say which of us should get certain awards like probably best gift giver and stuff like that um and lando is sitting there the whole time in the video and I'm thinking, I can't believe this is happening, I can't believe it and So, after saying Lando, I'm super proud of you for being in the video, and he said, "I thought you said, Do you want to see a behind-the-scenes video that explains a lot of things?" Then he said, "Because behind the scenes." . there was a tv behind the guy who was a feminist there was a tv that showed them while they were behind while they were backstage in our dressing room they could see the show being filmed so they could see it from backstage and then they thought he was They thought that he was going to sit with us and watch behind, he was just waiting for what was happening to end so he could watch, I think when he went into it he knew what was happening and it was too late. he wasn't going to show his butt, he wasn't going to come out in the middle of the video, who would do that, yes I did and we don't have to bring up why I did it, but I don't think you want to relive that, you know you can see the video, so I showed it, so Jesse was watching this, my wife was watching the video and she's very self-aware, very aware of Shepherd's haircut and how she looked in the video, here's the explanation why, so if you look at the. video because she's like you haven't fixed shepherd's hair, I'm like no one cares, he's an eight year old boy, but what happens is if you look at shepherd's hair, it seems like because it's his hair it's as combed down and alone. straight cut like a home cut now we pay for the haircut I'm going to tell you why it looks like that so what she likes to do because she doesn't is this explanation something that jesse wanted you to explain this Is that what the show is called ?
This is going to make things better, yeah, uh, well, yeah, yeah, she's not going to care that she likes us because of what happened with a haircut that I like to play with, which is a funny story, she likes it. She likes it to drive her. the side, so it looks kind of sleek, so if you watch that video, it's like his hair was like straight bangs, like a straight cut on his forehead because he had been in that room running, no, but this is what what happened so we have jessie was taking barbara to the vet and she had barbara in the car with her and but shepherd had to get a haircut and so she takes shepherd to the place to get his haircut and she tells him what to do and then she like she went to the car to be with the dog you can't leave a car you can't leave a dog in the car or a car and a dog that would be but bad unfortunately what that means is that you' I have an eight year old boy He is a pastor and you know that he talks a lot and is going to tell you what he thinks.
Oh, and what do you want. He now directs the hair cutting process. So what happened is while Jesse was saying, "Calm down." and she cut it straight, she said don't cut the front too short, that's what he said because we want to be able to slide it to the right side, but what happened was the barber or the stylist I don't know. I know what kind of place it was, basically Shepard told Jesse that it was like me telling him to take more off the front because I don't like it getting in my eyes, so I somehow shepherded an eight year old.
She was able to convince him well that he's her hairdresser so he basically just cut off half of her forehead and this is what her hair looks like now but it's your fault for not styling it before the behind the scenes video yeah she did it did. I don't really care and I was like, but it's cute, right, it just looks like a bad haircut, but it's cute, it's from an eight year old, she doesn't really care, but I think the lesson learned is if people Examine her hair in the comments. no, no one noticed, it's funny now that I talked about it, people will know well that that photo I was bragging about tweeting in 10 minutes got people talking about the stain on Lando's shirt and then, and then , a gentle mythical beast came this far.
As for Photoshopping the stain out of his shirt, I think and then repost the photo without the stain because enough people were talking about the stainless steel. First of all, it was a water stain. It was no stain. wet place than a seven year old and then there were people who had kids or who had experience with kids chiming in in the comments section and saying things like listen, there are big wins happening here and not even just having it in a photo or a video that They didn't even appreciate it, but just the fact that you have a child in one piece in public with a little stain is not a problem, but oh yeah, again, this is why we are you.
I know we're a little calculated when it comes to putting our kids or loved ones in front of the camera because you can't help but separate that thing like there's a great photo and then you're talking about the same thing now, I think most of it was just because fun, it's like no one is copying him a new one because they just like to find something they can point to, but it was funny that they did it and then it was a fun choice to photoshop it. I think that person did it likeas a way to make fun of the people who were talking about it no honestly I don't believe it well I wasn't offended now but I think it's kind of funny that there was a whole sub thread about the stain on Lando's shirt, well , speaking of side threads for ryan and kelly's appearance, kelly and ryan, kelly and andy, uh, you know, that video was of us cooking the steak with the griddles that was posted on kelly and ryan's Facebook page, which Then it was Jesse.
I brought up the comments that people who normally enjoy Kelly and Ryan, I love it when this happened, I don't know what it is but I love it, but you can only imagine what the average Kelly and Ryan viewer thought we were highly. intelligent, thoughtful human beings who know are culinary experts exactly, so there were comments like, basically, you know who these fools are, why did you put them in this, it's not safe, they ruined an iron, oh people, four irons, the people They were great, they just weren't. ruined four irons and probably wouldn't enjoy our content, but then Jessie was pointing out the fact that quite a few mythical beasts had come in and then they defended us and she was like, um and they defended you in a very thoughtful way, it was like with They were very tactful and said, "This is, I mean, people just say something like, you know, you don't have a sense of humor or whatever, but you know it's not necessary, you don't have to feel the need to defend us." but I appreciate when you do it, but the audience wasn't necessarily prepared for what we were going to do, but the audience in the studio was very, very relevant, very receptive in the moment, well, we went out to rehearse and they were live morning shows that they were like chaos on camera and then everything backstage like what's happening, what's happening, you know, we had each other, we had the cooking thing on the side, like a side stage, but on the main stage the spectacle was.
But it didn't happen, they were showing footage and I think by filming the audience their reactions, my theory is to get more reactions or just show them something while they were waiting, but we come out and the producer says, "Okay, let's do it." walk you through this, she tells me this because I'm at the front of the line, you walk behind me and we walk out, people are watching the show on a screen in front of the set, but then we walk out and we like it. There are people cheering us on and then I turn around and look at Rhett and he has this panicked look on his face and he's like, is this it?
For a second you thought we were doing well because I knew it was a rehearsal, but we were in front of you. to the whole crowd, it was just weird because we had been backstage in this kitchen and we went over the recipe and we knew what we were going to do and then you were talking to the producer and I was like I was thinking about your throat, I was a little bit removed of that, no, fortunately at that moment my throat felt good, okay, um, because it was in the morning when it feels good and uh, but when we went out yesterday, everyone was drinking some water, everyone was looking at us. and we were very, very close to us, the audience was very close to us, as if it were very intimate, yes, and everyone was looking at us and I thought it was a rehearsal, but no one told me it was a rehearsal and now I think: let's having to do this and then she was like, oh, you're not going to do this now, but we stood out there for about 10 minutes, like going over what we were going to do and this. it's where we're going to stand or whatever and everyone's watching us do it it was a little awkward you hate it I mean it's like you're a musician uh who has to go out and do a sound check in front of an audience you can totally relate with this, but since we have also had that experience, it is like having to do a sound check in front of people.
I don't have a rehearsal. I just don't like doing something I'm not into. saying half before doing it to the end I don't even like it in front of the people who are going to watch it to the end and also but you hate it more than me and by the way I like it even when like us we do it as rehearsals in buddy system , by the way I don't like, yeah, holding back, acting the way I'm going to act, which I thought was interesting when we worked with Michael McDonald, not with the singer, but with the actor, and we were like giving him something. direction in rehearsal we were rehearsing and then after walking away we started saying something about the newest characterization.
He says I like everything. I like to delay rehearsal and I was like, yeah, me too and I was like, “Okay, I'm sorry.” No, I didn't mean to try to tell you, I didn't think that's what you were going to do, but I just wanted to know what and then it was like I'm going to stop talking now, but a lot of people have. He commented on the photo that Stevie posted on his Instagram of the three of us and people (at least one person) said: What is Rhett thinking with that expression on his face? And what I'm thinking is what describes the appearance well.
What were you doing? It's uncomfortable, it seems a little constipated and I'm obviously not comfortable again. I don't like it, I don't like being in front of people unless I'm actually in front of them. them and I'm doing something where I know what my role is and I'm in control, like if people see you having your photo taken for another group of people, it's weird to have a whole audience of people looking at me. take a picture that's the look I have that's the look I have you can see that on stevie's instagram maybe we'll put it in the video too but that's the look of a man who is a little uncomfortable that's the look of a man who feels uncomfortable because they're posing for a photo while other people are looking at that pose, yes, it was a success, but yes, you know, I don't know if the winner will have been determined by the time this podcast comes out.
I don't know what time, uh, but you might like to retweet his tweet about us, that's how it works. The way these things work is the way these things get people on the Internet to come to their show because people on the Internet can get people to vote for things and they like to stir up social media, it's all a big game. and I mean, that's how it works, so it's like they know that you guys are extremely loyal and love supporting us and I don't. It is and we were very happy to be there. No, no, no, I'm not saying it's a bad thing, but I'm just saying that's how it works.
They want people to generate comments, votes and things like that. It's good for your show It's good for us It's good that everyone wins and you don't do it out of obligation but because it's fun to support us and if we win then ten thousand dollars will be donated to a charity of our choice, which we have several charities that we work with. We know we've partnered in the past, I don't know if we've made a decision on which one we're going to do, but it's going to be one that you know, we've looked at and I hope I didn't sound like I didn't care about the charity.
I'm just saying that, let's face it many times, the first thing people think of. What it is not about is that we come up with something to donate money to charity, let's think of something we like, leave social media and also benefit the charity as another thought, as a separate thought, that is the best thought , but it may not be the first thought and that's how things work, it's about entertainment, although man, it's about entertainment, right, I have no idea, but then we changed once we did those two things, we tried to being very disciplined to say personal time to personal time so that I liked it. fun for the kids, they were able to be in the audience for ryan and kelly and they made an exception for our family to let them do that even though there was an age limit there and it was a cool experience for them, but then we had to do the sightseeing tour, I think we went to the top of the Empire State Building, took the subway and walked.
I know you love New York City because you talk about it every time we go and you like the first thing Rhett does every time. Come on, we're walking, he says look, we're just walking her every time you turn a corner. Anything else. I love it. I look down and there are like metal doors underneath. I just won't go down there. Yeah. and look up, it's like there are people living up there and windows, you're like a kid in a candy store and a bowl in a china shop together. I didn't break anything, I didn't, who knows, no, but I love it.
It's, it's my favorite

city

in the world, so the kids experienced that, but it wasn't, it's not, I'm not saying I'd rather live there than in Los Angeles, but it's my favorite

city

to visit. I love it, I love the fact that it's like walking into an exciting gift shop. I love how every step you take, there is something else someone is doing that is simply remarkable. It could be that someone is acting crazy. Someone is out of your control. Someone is having sex in an alley. I saw you seriously. I saw it seriously this time.
I was walking with my son when it happened, but I didn't point it out to him. This is like the wild west or something. Where were you walking? Well, this is another interesting thing about this trip is that Locke, you know, went from diving to basketball and he's very serious about basketball and he was very, he's trying out for his school team, so it's very, It was like dad, I can. I don't have seven days where I don't play basketball, so we bought him a basketball while we were there and he went to the public courts like the street baseball fields on the Lower East Side, which you know isn't real. street ball there, but it was a nice street and he went, there were streets nearby, he went like four times and he played like real basketball with real guys from the city who were very happy to welcome him and we actually let him walk alone for a couple.
Sometimes he said I will go early in the morning, okay? and I'm like, yeah, he's like dad. I liked an analysis of crime in this part of town, like you know, you know my son, what he's like, yeah, him. Dad no, I'll take him at face value, yeah, he says it's actually a lot safer here than in downtown LA, like he had some road he really wanted to go, so he had some data, yeah, but anyway, but once I went down. there with him and then I walked back and that's when I passed by the people who were having some kind of transaction in the alley and, you know, it took me a second to realize what was going on.
At first I looked up and thought: that girl? she loses something and that guy is helping her no, no, no, how far, um, could you have thrown a basketball and broken it? Oh, yeah, I mean, I don't know if I have that good aim, but 30 yards when I realized they were. It's not the right place They weren't looking for a lost item They were finding love um I just snuck out, I did a double, I did a double take 'cause you can't see every day was like that in the daylight, oh yeah, I was daylight, but it was in an alley, at an entrance to the alley.
I'm sorry I mentioned this and, uh, it wasn't a good scene. You know what I am saying? It didn't seem like it. a romantic moment, it seemed like a transactional moment, oh, and um, I didn't dwell on it much. I hadn't thought about it again until you mentioned it, but I knew this is like now, this is the Are you a compartmentalist? My instinct was to turn to the guy I'm with and be like a friend, look at that, but I realized the friend was my 13-year-old son. I said yeah, I probably shouldn't point that out to him.
You don't need to see it yet, so I told you about it and mentioned it here, yes, yes, and now we recorded the video of you. I watched the entire video in full. No, but I love the city. and I was having the best time until I can say my highlight was worried about my throat all the time but I was having the best time other than that, but my highlight well, I mean, I think taking being with the family and seeing these things like We don't do a lot of sightseeing tours, but like all that, we did a food tour one day, we ate a lot of food, yeah, what you saw was Bob Dylan's house and where he first performed and where Jimi Hendrix performed for the first time. first time.
It's amazing, it's like and a lot of food was great, um, but just experiencing that, you know, with my family and with your family like that, I mean, that takes the cake, that's the most important thing, but if there's a little Highlight, it was actually where we went. the american museum of natural history right on the edge of central park neil degrasse tyson's planetarium observatory i say it's his but he's like i don't know he's the guy he's the public face we saw like cool planetarium movie, i tweeted about it, the dark universe, I said it was very moving and then we go out and go to Shake Shack and get burgers and shakes and it's like I'm in Los Angeles now and I've had it here. and it's amazing, but it was like having it there and we did it, we definitely determined that it is both. of our favorite burgers yes, well, everyone, everyone, everyone agrees on one thing, this is the best burger, the shake shack has the better burger, but in my experience I burned myself metaphorically, literally, uh, um, burned my mouth with a wrinkled cut, frying the roof of my mouth. because I waited a long time for that, uh, I mean that burger in that fry, I think it was the fry that you didn't pre-fry, you reached thethis is relaxing this is quiet I know there are mountains there but I can't see through the smog that's kind of it but yeah I was glad to be back and I thought I'm glad I live here.
No, you know, I'm not saying I want to live in New York City, well, you do. live everywhere just be real I don't want I want to live everywhere I go I stand there and say how could I get? I have to live here but no one is summer in New York City yeah that's what they always say Some are somewhere else yeah it's too hot. Thanks for being with us, because it's just a lot of ketchup. You know, you know, I like to process what we've been through, so this episode felt like a scrapbook we just had. scrapbook session we journal we journal verbally I scrapbooked, yeah, I didn't do the same, we create memories, we catalog memories in a way that, uh, I wish you would like to scrapbook, I would like to keep a diary, but we didn't and now that we have a record, a time capsule, if you will, of our experience in New York, at the amusement park and at the doctor's office, we have recorded the story, that's what we've done and with some adjustments, and if we tell the story a few more times we will have played handball with jimmy fallon, that's the beauty of recording it now because every time you access a memory again you change it, yeah, but if we have it, oh, now we can't do it.
In fact, we made it worse, so we could have played handball with Jimmy Fallon. If we hadn't done this, we'd lock him up. Well, thanks for joining us, I'm going to get on with this, I'm going to go. Take a chance and say we'll be back next week. There's a small chance I won't be able to talk and you'll talk and I'll make moves next week. Don't know. maybe it will happen maybe it won't let's find out we'll leave our options open yes tune back in to find out I'll talk to you next week I can guarantee you I love you
