transplant three weeks ago and neither his parents, Cristina nor Luis, and thank you all for joining us in this. tomorrow and behind that door is another

man, his name is Abraham, he is a complete stranger who donated his

kidney

to Chris. They are about to meet each other for the first time in Abraham. He can't hear us and Chris, we're going to have you. Put on this blindfold and these noise canceling headphones because obviously I guess we don't want you to hear or see anything either.

s old. Chris was diagnosed with lupus and advanced kidney disease. It was like the beginning of the school

year

. You, my brothers and I played American football. I tried to throw the ball. football, but literally the ball was like a couple feet away and just hit the ground, that's when I really knew something was wrong. I ended up going to the emergency room of a hospital, the first thing they told me was that I had nephrotic syndrome, it was basically like my kidneys were losing proteins and things all over my body he needed a kidney transplant his family prayed that I would receive one in Instead of requiring dialysis treatments but his kidneys began to fail and dialysis became his only option the hardest part was putting him on dialysis as he has always been positive, when he cried he would text me because he would like to have a mask because I couldn't breathe, it'll go, don't worry, mom, I'll graduate high school, I'll go to college, you don't have to worry about me, I'll be fine, but then more tragedy occurred in her family when Chris, her 13-year-old sister Bria died due to a bleeding disorder.

She was like devastated, but I sat there for a moment, I thought I could just do it. It wasn't without reason, so I ran out of the room and contacted her doctor and asked her: is there any way she can give her kidneys to her brother? I think I felt more confident that this was the right thing to do. The first thing he did was cry. I thought about my sister and everything. Then I thought about everything I went through and hoped it would end with a smile, and even though Chris and Abraham never met, they now share a bond that can never be broken. I'm very grateful to him, he basically gave me a new life in everything I do. everything amazing story and we're going to take off we have to take off the boys can't leave you too can take off the blindfold and Chrissy are you ready to meet the man who gave you a kidney okay come with me come you're a little nervous yeah , don't be, everything will be fine, my friend, it's okay, Abraham, come out, come back to the couch with me.

I really wish there were some words he could say to describe to you how grateful I am for giving me this new opportunity. I really want you to know that you are going to a good place so I hope to make you proud one day and everything I do I will do for you in Abraham. I mean, what you did is incredible and what he did to you that gave you the spark to make this incredible choice.
They helped you. a complete stranger I feel like I have to recover, yes, I read about the possibility of kidney donation and I learned that yes, a hundred thousand people needed a kidney and that surgery was safe and that it is an opportunity to really improve someone's life, so that everyone can take advantage of it. We have you here now, but I'm so glad we did. I'm grateful that I was able to do it well. We are happy. We are also grateful. Christina, this is sitting here now and eating healthy thanks to the gift that Abraham gave himself.
Do you have something you want to say to Abraham? I just want to say thank you. There are no words I can say to repay you or your family. I'm so grateful to you and Lewis for having The Father, seeing your son healthy now and seeing these two together, how does that make you feel so happy? Because because this young gentleman, my son will never recover, I hope he doesn't suffer any more and I know he's not going anywhere in Arlington. Well, if he said everything he will do, he will do it to make Abraham proud and in honor of Abraham, and what do you want to say to the people at home who may not have read the article that you read, but Yeah? considering being a donor, what do you have to tell them?
I would say do it, yes, contact a hospital and see if you are eligible and if you are eligible, be very considerate, yes, I was in the hospital for two days. I was free. painkillers and in five days I feel great, three weeks to go, yeah, yeah, I'm so inspired, I'm so happy I did this and yet it's having a ripple effect. My mom is now considering being a kidney donor. and she contacted the same hospital as me. I think if you know that this will extend beyond just your mom, I think if you're here you'll extend it to other people, you would be considering this and for you, Chris, there are a lot of people who went through what you've been going through because this has It's been a struggle for quite some time, what's there to save those people who have been waiting or on the list?
Do you have any words of encouragement for them too? I know it's simple for me to just tell them not to lose hope because at certain times I felt like I would never get better, but I know that just by telling myself I will get better, get better, get better every day.
