do the transmission for me too. I've been waiting for years to fix that sloppy shifter, pulling transmissions is always the hardest part and once we get it out we can make a new clutch flywheel and fix the sloppy thing because the retaining pins there are a few

of those , Yeah. that's crazy that's what

makes

this unique so let's disconnect the driveshaft here first any of the brackets we'll see how much room we have we may have to pull the exhaust let's start taking a bit. Take things out and see where it lands, so it's really nice and clean.

Obviously he did it recently. I do not remember. Thanks to Shane. We're ready to pull the transmission with just 10 Torx E bolts surrounding it and there's one on. On top of that, I think Shane said we could feel, yeah, somewhere up there, so let's go ahead and start screwing it in and then, you're going to catch it. If someone's going to stand behind us to catch it, yeah, okay, that's it. well, these larger electronic pairs are giving us a lot of problems, they are very tight, so we have been backing them off a little bit and then spraying them.

With a little bit of penetrating oil, I'll get it from behind. I am so grateful that Alex reached out to me and offered me this series 5 for literally nothing. He handed me the keys and title when he received it. an email like this is so surreal and the fact that this is the second time this has happened, well it's just too much and I personally can't do it, it just wouldn't be right. I feel very blessed to have been able to. buy my dream cars and share the building processes with you, no matter how painful, like the bmw i8, i want one of you to go home with this car, so i have partnered with jacksonville spina bifida, a truly incredible organization dedicated to improving the lives of people with spina bifida.

Many thanks to Alex for his enormous generosity and donation of this car and to Jacksonville and Amelia spina bifida. Island Concourse for partnering with me to make this possible, but the crazy thing is this car needs to be done in less than 20 days and we have a substantial amount of work to do, so let's get back to it, we have the guys. At Eurocharge we are doing everything we can on this one, we are pretty stuck if you look at our e-torx bolts, the big ones that hold the transmission, we have one up there but it broke, this one is officially removed.
I have a little bit of room to probably cut it out and then I'm trying to figure out what to do with this one. There are still two big guys higher up on either side. We have released them. The little ones seem to want to go out. but this is our main problem here, they are stuck and as far as I understand they are aluminum fasteners and I think a steel housing poses a problem after a long period of time so here comes Shane let's see oh man , I see. He hooked up a cut off wheel, these little plugs here, I noticed they were leaking, so anyone hearing the sloshing noise on your e39, that's where it comes from, it's as simple as removing one of the pins holding the trim on, that's it. all. how good when you drive are you shh and I read that they are on the door sills so I told them we are going to remove the trim from the door sills.
I'm thinking from above he's going to say no, oh my God, wow. I can't believe there is so much water, that's really amazing, look how many streams they got one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, we found the solution, this is like one of those videos where the client says he hears water moving In the car, buddy, that's it. no, we're not even going to be able to remotely remove the rest of those damn transmission bowls. Look, I've had this going for over three minutes, yeah, and he, by the way, it was like a minute before that also made Alex blow the thing up. off and you didn't hear oh yeah I know you hear it no it doesn't smell okay so the game plan here now is to remove the intake manifold and then we'll try to access the top bolt that holds the transmission from above.
Upstairs, let's see if we can get it out of place. I think it has been taken out a little. Hopefully getting this out gives us enough room to do it. I arrived late the next day. We had to move things in a bay and there was one last one. The nut holding the intake manifold on was just found so this should be good to go, there it is, we're good to go, where's our problem boat? There's the intake manifold and right down here behind all these wires is our problem bolt that actually came. Decent enough. I hope there is enough to grab it with the stud puller.
I'm going to try using this saw to cut the top off that bolt. The good thing is that the saw actually reaches right up. from there don't hit anything else no and this is a

broken

vacuum cable right here so let's just get that out of the way anything else that's another voice that's the other end of the

broken

vacuum cable let's do it it's working let's see how much damage we've done , I see it, it's actually cutting a little bit, oh come on, it's there, there it goes, that's it buddy, okay, let's see if the transmission is still there, shane, it's attached, uh, I see three bolts currently holding it in one, two, three. the rest are bolts holding it on now the theory again is to look at how long the bellhousing is here you should have enough bolt to grab it again once the transmission is out we'll figure that out in just a second that's the bolt that's left .
I just heated it up and it broke there, this is no fun, I have a feeling we'll be using the drill quite a bit once this transmission is off, but at this point all the bolts holding everything in place should be out. uh, there might be some wiring to the starter, some up there, but otherwise, uh, it's done, let's pull it. Look, I do this work without wood. Remember every time you put this thing on. Yes, there is no wood. Another good job. It is not this one. This bolt, here it is. The problem is this one here is the problem, it's messy and it's heavy, so guess what torch, remember we have to get them out of the way, I know, but still the bolt, the head of this board here, is stuck in the air, you know what?
I mean, that's the problem right now. They are preventing it. Yes, so it doesn't move. Give me a chance. Move yourself. Yes, I do it there. I'm telling you, I'm alone on the ground. Listen, we couldn't. I've done it without you I guess you know what you mean here we go we go there's no point we'll make it use my chest my this is the guy here this is the man come visit him at eurocharger orlando we We're not going to talk about it, but no, I'm kidding, your workshop is good too. Can you imagine that big fight over that little transmission?
You definitely have a leaking rear main seal here, so it's a good thing we got the clutch out. We'll be able to replace that, that's probably where our oil leak is coming from and luckily there's a lot of meat left on all the broken bolts, they're practically studs now and that's what was really holding it in the transmission. This one has a slight bend right here, so now it was kind of stuck in the transmission, before we get out any kind of cutters and drills that we want to try to remove, I brought my set of bolt extractors and these are really cool.
The little rollers in here just slide over what's left on the bolt and when you turn it like you're turning any other ratchet, it grabs and bites into it and I don't want to apply too much force because I don't want to start turning this. I'm going to apply a little

more

heat where everything is threaded first and hopefully I can break up the corrosion there and then we'll try to twist them. I want to bring them. Guys, come back here for a second, as you can see it's dark again. I want to thank the guys at eurocharge for letting me stay late, e

spec

ially Shane who had a great time understanding that this has to be like the smallest manual transmission I've ever owned.
I've never seen it and it was a pain in the neck. We have a big job ahead of us,

spec

ifically with removing those broken poles. Yes, I'm sure everyone says to always use high heat. I want to hear from you in the comments section. what you think it's going to do, Shane, I personally think a drill will end up doing it, yeah, I think the best option if we're going to hell with it, I think the best option will end up being to just shave it off. flat and then drill it and then insert it or something like that or cure it we'll figure out what's the best option for that and then just running a regular bolt through it

makes

that sound really easy again if you know something simpler. that's more than just using a ton of heat let us know in the comments section below remember this car you can win it and all the winnings 100 of them will go to jacksonville spina bifida so that's cool.
