A Close Look at the 2024 Genesis GV70 AWD 3.5T Sport Prestige

first arrived in the US for the 2022 model year and has been virtually unchanged since then, but trust me, that's not a bad thing. Let's take a

look

at the car from the front. You definitely see a family design language between this and the gv80 it's the larger of the two SUVs, not to mention the three sedans, the g780 and the 90, and I think it

s good, we have this nice long Pentagon grille right here and Really tastefully done grill openings in my opinion, I like the Genesis logo. it's not too big, I think it's a tasteful size considering what we see on modern cars today and I think there's some interesting details as you go down, there's a lot going on in this lower bumper here, interesting slot here and then this as a vertical spoiler element with another lower point right there, more openings for the grille and all that as well, because this is a

sport

version, we have this dark chrome look here and the front and rear faces are a little bit different than the other

gv70

, but keep in mind, all gv70 equipped with 3 and 1/2 L are

sport

models and yes, this one has the 3 and 1/2 liter.

Also, Genesis has this interesting split headlight design where you have the bodywork between two upper and lower elements, here I think it's ultimately a sharp look and as you can see the daytime running lights look good as the car moves forward by the road. Also, the hood itself has some interesting lines, this sharp crease cut here that turns into a character line running down the side and this. Kind of like a sculpted part in the center here, which is where the Genesis logo is. I think it's all very well done, very well executed, but even though that's the case, I'm still more interested in seeing what's under the hood and there's its twin turbo. 3 and 1/2 L V6 mounted longitudinally or in forums like that Genesis isn't afraid to tell you it's a twin turbo, in fact it says it here and there, but it's a nice engine bay.

I have to say I really dig this dual intake assembly here and then check out this assembly and go down for some extra plumbing here and I like that more of the engine is exposed, it's not all covered in a huge plastic cover. This cover is quite small, but it actually covers where you put the most oil, which is a little ironic to me, but I think it's very well made and also the center line of the shaft is right here, so a lot of the engine it's behind the centerline of the axle and also the centerline of the front axle, so that's really good.

For weight distribution, having a large part of the engine between the axles instead of in front of the front, very well done. We also have these nice thick braces here that connect the strut tower to the front of the assembly right here to add some more structure and it's it's a nice polished metal on top of that on each side, so yeah, there's a lot that I like. like them under here, oh and finally, the windshield washer fluid is hidden in the back, out of the way here, looking at the car in profile, here's a good view. this Mona red paint, which is a $575 optional color, but there is only one color that is no extra cost, it is Ulta white, everything else is at least $575 extra, but other than the paint, I think this is a nice SUV .

I mentioned that character line right here. on the hood it starts here and goes all the way to the base of this window molding, which is this nice chrome. I think it's a nice touch. There's also another character line that starts right at the base of the hood and runs through the SV mirror covers and continues down. I like this one on the taillights, I think it's a nice touch. I like the gloss black for the roof rails here and there is also some chrome on the top of the door handles and I think the rest is body color.

It's a pretty busy shape in profile, but I think it's also a very well executed shape. , it also has the whole advanced sport package and that includes 21-inch wheels with these really nice five fat spokes with designs on the spoke type of look and I think It's very sharp too just giving it the finishing touch even though this is an SUV, we have these big front calipers here too and pretty decent rotors as well and yes, this is a square setup the size of the rear wheel. it's the same as what's in front looking at the car from the back this is a little more rounded in shape than the rest of the car the rest of the car looks quite angular and aggressive this is just a little more rounded and bulbous so to me personally it's a little less strong stylistically than the rest of the car but it's still nice and you have a repeat of the bifurcated taillights right here very similar to the headlights and this is where you can tell everyone that all gv70 is all wheel drive and theirs is the larger 3 and 1/2 L turbo V6.

We also have some interesting contrasts here, some black right at the base of the roof mounted spoiler that you have for all that downforce needed and We have some interesting elements here and a fake rear diffuser here, it's not ideal because it's not real, but it's tastefully done and yes, ultimately these are fake exhaust outlets right here, but the real tips are right inside so it's not so bad, it is certainly less. It's more egregious than the worst fenders and it's got a neat trick too, of course you can open the tailgate with a key fob and there are buttons on the inside too, but almost hidden in the rear wiper assembly is this button so let's take a look. look inside. you get 29 cubic feet of storage behind the second row and a nice, flat cargo floor for that row.

It's a pretty high load floor level, but it's not atrocious and it's a nice big opening to use, plus you also get a touch of room underneath too, if you want to store things like the owner's manual, you've got a few rings to each side in the front and rear to help keep things in place and on the passenger side you have a small cargo net and a 12 volt cigarette holder. Exit right there, but if you need more than 29 cubic feet of storage, yes, it's easy to do, pull a couple of levers and you get 57 cubic feet of storage, a nice big space and I think there's plenty of room for my bike , but let's find out.

Oh yeah that was easy, lots of space, didn't take much work, quite wide, really nice, let's take a look at the interior, first of all the name of this interior color is aquamarine blue so it's not black but It's not that far from being pretty dark now. As you can see, I left this seat down because I wanted to show you how to lift it up and so you could see that there is adjustment to the angle of the backrest. I have the other side tilted all the way back so you can see which end is.

The angle is that you release it with this lever here, pull it back, which is the first and most vertical position so you can see the difference between the two right there. I think the most natural position is probably the second one, which is right there, now you get a better one. sense of this aqua navy blue color and you know, with the red stitching and the red seat belts, it actually looks pretty good. I should say that I am 5' 11 inches or 181 cm and I have, you know, a good 2 3 inches of knee room and the bottom of the seats are relatively high, so I also have decent thigh support and now I have maybe a touch under a 90° bend in my knees because this is a Prestige or top of the line model, we have three zone climate control in the rear. here and that includes three level heated seats for the outboard passengers, we also have multiple USB ports on this side and an AC outlet on that side which is a nice touch.

We also have this nice carbon fiber trim here, which I think looks awfully sharp, as well as manual sunshades which you know you need in theory and of course we also have a center armrest with cup holders, come on man, this is premium, okay let's take a look at the front oh one other thing if you're on the rear passenger side you can also move the front seat if you want to give more leg room if you want that kind of thing so this is like the position executive right here on the rear passenger side and you can move the front seat however you want.

I want an interesting touch now let's go to the front, another look at this aqua blue interior and a better look at this carbon fiber trim right here with this kind of aluminum perimeter. I think it looks pretty good overall. I also like this brushed metal for the door handle and the speaker and the usual controls here two position seat memory all that very well done this is a lexicon stereo system if you're curious and we also have a lot of controls here a lot of seat controls lumbar massage also works on With advanced and higher trims, you get Napa leather seating surfaces, we have some controls to the left of the steering wheel and you can adjust the steering both tilt and telescope electrically right here, the start button is here, the Standard instrument cluster is an 8-inch screen with analog gauges on both sides, but because this is a prestige-level Genesis GV70, we get a 12.3 all-digital screen in standard equipment.

However, it's this super wide 14 1/2 touchscreen on the center console and the controls are this beautiful dial right here, but let's go back to Being a Prestige package, we also have a head-up display right below that says these are the first two of its three zones for climate control and as you can hear it's getting quite a bit of wear, it's not very hot outside, we also have heated and ventilated seats for the front passengers and a TW level heated steering wheel, that's a good one tap below this is the dry mode dial here as well as some more parking options and parking cameras this is a volume knob and here's another look at that controller I was showing you below there's another dial this is your Prindle push it to put it in park turn it clockwise to put it in drive Drive counterclockwise to put it in reverse and a more subtle move to put it in neutral that takes a moment to get used to but is very well executed and I must say I like it, plus you have a standard wireless charging pad there as well as a couple of USB ports, however as you can see one is connected because you have Apple CarPlay. and Android auto but that's hardwired look where it says phone projection right there plug in my phone now I have Apple Carplay looking further down we have a couple of nice deep cup holders and some more storage down here and that includes another charging port Right there looking Moving up, we have a glasses holder and some controls for the standard panoramic sunroof.

s electrically. The sunroof is now standard, but this synthetic suede for the headliner is seen on the right. here it comes with the advanced level gv70 and of course the prestige it has too. Let's talk. Driving modes, you get various driving modes, snow, Eco Comfort, sport, Sport Plus and custom, and you can customize it with the touch screen on the center console, here, go to settings. driving mode of the vehicle and you can see here that if I go to custom I can adjust the drivetrain, the steering, we have adjustable shocks, so it has a sporty, comfortable suspension and how aggressive the all-wheel drive is in terms of sending power to the things like that and there you have it, a nice, close look at the
