Use paint to help solidify that feeling.

Watch my video on how to choose the right color palette for your room for more painting tips and tricks. To learn a little more about the psychology of color and design, if you have little to no space in your small bedroom, storage is probably your biggest concern. Fortunately, there are plenty of creative ways to make your small space work for you. Here are some of my favorite smart solutions for your storage needs specify a beautiful wardrobe. Instead, this piece of furniture will not only become the focal point of your bedroom, but you will create a design statement with one simple trick.
A huge closet. Make sure you measure the space you have and to the maximum. Calculate the width, don't forget to take into account the depth of the piece so that you can open the doors freely. If you want the bedroom to feel larger, opt for a cabinet with legs, if you want a custom look, create a wall-to-wall closet. With identical cabinets that you can install side by side, you can modify the doors to elevate the ambiance. Ikea wardrobe systems are perfect for this trick. If you don't have the depth or space for a full-size closet, you can install rows of shelving.
Instead, stacked shelves make great use of vertical height on the walls. You don't need a big budget to create the storage solution. Most hardware stores have cellular lumber in long sheets that you can cut to size right there in the store. I also love the IKEA selection. Variety of supports, from wood to metal, perfect for painting and custom to fit your aesthetic. Remember to keep shelves free of clutter. Always use boxes or baskets to keep your belongings organized or else this look can get very messy very quickly, then you would be tidying up your room. a disservice by creating more chaos than calm.
I love how this stacked bookshelf creates a beautiful backdrop for the small bedroom along with a creative paint finish. The look is subtle but very cozy and elegant, on the other hand, if you don't like the look. rows of stacked shelves and need a little more storage, consider a DIY closet system instead of using the same idea of functionality with rows of stacked shelves, in this case you start with a high shelf and a closet rod below for the clothes and complete the look with water. Wall drawers for shoes, bags, sweaters, t-shirts, socks, anything you need to store, should be carefully hidden.
Another trick for storing clothes that I always implement in small spaces is to use a coat rack. This coat rack can be mounted on any empty wall space. that you have next to the entrance door is a smart solution since you can hang your bag or backpack to put it in and out. This rail can also be used to permanently store winter coats as it requires much less space. You can install a whole row of coat racks. with pegs next to each other to create a long linear shelf if you are looking for a tidy solution for clothes that are thrown everywhere, you can try a corner shelf, instead let's talk about nightstands, you have your bed situated , it's on the command wall, it's in the center of the space now you just have to calculate how much space you have left for those symmetrical nightstands.
If you find that you don't have much space to fit a full nightstand, try a wall-mounted nightstand, this is the perfect option. solution for those who want to fit a larger bed in their tiny bedroom, you may remember from my bedroom design mistakes video that the optimal clearance around a bed is usually 30 to 36 inches,

most

can get away with yours with 30 inches to open the closet doors. make your bed, even add a rug under the bed, but some of us really value our sleep, we want a big old bed and will sacrifice storage space to fit the wall mounted nightstand, you still need one usable surface for evening essentials in any setting.
It will do as long as there is a place to put your phone, place a glass of water and maybe even a book or two. I love this idea for small bedrooms because little to no space is no excuse for not having nightstands, all you need is a wall. mounted brackets and a piece of wood to start the look if the wall mounted nightstand isn't your thing and you don't have much space try a side table, most side tables start at 12 inches wide or diameter , making it an incredible solution. For small bedrooms there is no rule that says you should get a nightstand next to your bed, the goal is simply to have a functional surface to place your nighttime essentials if you need a work or study area in your small bedroom Instead of symmetrical nightstands, try a desk.
On the one hand, you know I love symmetry. Feng shui also loves symmetry, but we can't always follow feng shui guidelines when there are other needs to prioritize, such as having a desk in the dorm for students, this could be an absolute necessity. Mixing up the second nightstand and looking for a desk, just remember to put away all your papers and close your laptop at night so the energy of a busy work day doesn't interrupt your sleep. Speaking of freeing up floor space, let's talk about freeing up. surface space Now that you have it, wall sconces can easily replace table lamps and swing arm sconces adjust and rotate so you can illuminate multiple surface areas with a single fixture.
Remember my top tip for small spaces, whatever you get should work overtime and do triple duty in a small space. Another storage trick I love to implement in small spaces is a bench at the end of the bed, it makes for great seating and fabulous storage. Make sure you get a bench at the end of the bed with hidden compartments inside. You can use it to store seasonal sweaters, extra blankets, books, games, snacks. toiletries I've always had a bench at the end of the bed since I started decorating my own bedroom as a teenager. It started as a go-to spot for my clothes when I would try on a dozen different outfits before deciding what to wear to school.
I got smarter as the years went on and started looking for ones that had lift-up lids for extra storage now that you know you need a bench at the end of the bed for extra storage. Let's talk about size, a bench at the end of the bed that is shorter than your mattress and smaller than the width of your bed. With those parameters in mind, specify the widest bench you can afford, you want to maximize storage options and seating, plus if you have a TV in the bedroom it is an amazing lounging space to relax in if it is large and deep enough last but certainly not least to make the most of your small bedroom.
It's really simple: just make your bed every morning. There's nothing like a well-made bed to make my day off feel routine but with a purpose. Start heading home. a beautifully made bed simply encourages you to relax and unwind it's about creating a relaxing environment that induces the best sleep you've ever seen check out my video on bedroom design mistakes where I talk about the art of layering your bed, how many Pillows go well with different size beds my favorite bedding and duvet options. I love starting with a blank white board and adding decorative pillows, comforters, and blankets to personalize the look.
