6 ABANDONED Disney Attractions That Are Still Standing

May 06, 2020
wall, whoever comes to this happy place, welcome Disney, of course, is a company known for its attention to detail, whether it's the theming of a certain land or attraction or the food you can find in that land because, let's face it, the Buffalo wings are totally future food Tomorrowland Disney sure knows how to get girly lands and that's what really separates them from other industries in the theme park business. There's something really interesting that Disney likes to do with old, defunct

attractions

and that's not tear them down and rebuild new ones.

attractions

instead, no, that would be too easy.

Instead, Disney likes to leave old attractions lying almost entirely behind the scenes, blocked from spectators, so today I thought we'd talk about some Disney attractions that are

still

there and that you can

still

visit. but I strongly recommend that you don't do it because you will probably be expelled or banned from the park, so this is my official statement. Don't sneak into areas you're not supposed to be in because that would be very bad for you and you. I'd get in a lot of trouble and blame it on myself Now for some reason most of these attractions are at Walt Disney World instead of being at Disneyland that's just because they have a lot more room to work with at Disney World so I guess They don't need all the attractions to be running at full capacity all the time, so they can keep some clothes and do nothing with them for 20 years, you know, until a very intrepid urban explorer sneaks in.

More Interesting Facts About,

6 abandoned disney attractions that are still standing...

You go back there and get all the sweet pictures of these closed Disney attractions, so that's what I'm going to show you today, seriously, chicken wings and cheeseburger pizza, is this what Disney has in mind when they talk about the food of the future oh sorry, anyway everyone here are six

abandoned

disney

attractions that are still

standing

today. Number one takes us to the granddaddy of

abandoned

attractions at Walt Disney World and that, of course, is Epcot. When Epcot opened in 1982, it featured two distinct lands: World Showcase. which is still there today and the future world, which is, I mean, still there today.

I guess the future world we have today at Epcot is very different from the one at Epcot Center on opening day, now the first attraction on our no. It didn't actually open until 1989, but it still counts as an abandoned Disney attraction that's still there because I mean, it's a band on the Disney attraction that's still there, stop testing me people, okay, I'm sorry, I sorry, I get really excited when we talk about the cranium command now, many of you probably remember creating the command. I, on the other hand, don't know, although it was open until 2007. I probably used it, I don't remember now, if you're wondering what the cranium command was. just imagine it from the inside out, except different emotions were different people, they were different body parts, they were different people.

You had Commander Buzzie, the left brain, the right brain, the hungry stomach, the bladder, the adrenal gland, the left and right ventricles, and of course you had the very exciting, very optimistic hypothalamus. Now, this attraction taught you how the parts of the human body work together to form who you are inside and out. It was a very old classic Disney attraction that unfortunately closed in 2007, but Disney tearing down skull commandos, did they reuse the theater or anything left from the attraction? Oh but of course not, as you can see in this video kindly provided by youtuber mats at SWA, the skull commando is still there and all the sets are still. very intact, even Buzzy's face is still illuminated from his chair, which is a little disconcerting if you ask me, so let's get on with this because I'm getting a little scared looking at that guy's face, you know, looking over back.
I probably could have combined number one and number two into one entry and just called it the Wonder of Life Pavilion because here in the Wonder of Life Pavilion to the left of the mission space is Body Wars now yeah You've never seen or heard of The Wonders of Life Pavilion, obviously it's very old and has been closed for a long time, but sometimes they reopen it during the Flower and Garden Festival or Food and Wine Festival for a festival center. It is when the wonder of life pavilion is open that you can take a closer look at the skull commando as I already mentioned and the body wars now.
I'm not sure if you can get into the old body war simulators, basically it was the same style of attraction as Star Tours, just instead of flying through space you fly through. the human body, quite simple things also very disgusting. Maybe I'll do a video on body wars in the future. I'll just call it the most disgusting Disney attraction ever written. Now I'm going to say this. Please note that Skull Commands and Body Wars are off-limits to the public, so don't try to sneak back into these attractions because you'll get caught again and I don't want to be responsible, but between us I don't think you'll make it. a ban or get kicked out of the park if you just look behind the curtain real quick just a quick glance I don't think that's it I think it's okay now the cue for body wars used to feature you going through scanners and different types of machinery on your On the way to the capsule, those scanners are still there today, although they are obviously not working, but you get to the cargo area and the doors are closed and locked, who knows if the simulator may still be in that room unused and dusty. to this day, so yeah, if you ever want to try the raw vintage Epcot from the mid 80's, whenever you get the chance, just go to the Life's Wonder Pavilion, there are so many interesting things to see there, especially Body Wars, which is the most disgusting, yeah.
Yes, the most disgusting ride that in my personal opinion Disney has ever done, finally with number three we can cross the entire United States to Anaheim, California to my local park Disneyland, no I have talked about this closed and abandoned attraction many times before. but I feel like I couldn't overstate this enough because if any Disney executive is watching this video, please bring it up, we all know what I'm talking about, now we're talking about the People Mover, usually when I talk about the People Mover. everyone discusses its history, but today I want to talk about where it still stands.
We all know it's closed and closed and probably won't be back anytime soon, but today I'll look at the clues. the things that are still

standing

that represent the number one People Mover, the loading dock now as you can clearly see from tomorrow's landing or anywhere around Tomorrowland there is a large circular platform with a long beam sticking out towards the entrance to Tomorrowland, this huge circular. The platform is the old loading dock for the people mover, there would be a rotating stage up there and guess what step towards the people mover, very similar to how they did it at Walt Disney World or I guess how they still do it at Walt Disney World because it is still open there, if you pay close attention while walking through Tomorrowland, even while you are in line for Space Mountain, you can see the ancient footprints of people moving above your head, even while you are on the monorail or in the Autopia.
Look to your left or right and it will usually be above you and you will see an old metal trap. These are the remains of the people transporter. A very simple attraction that would give you panoramic views of Tomorrowland. Unfortunately, of course, these clues do not. They are no longer up to code and are covered in debris like leaves and trash, so Disney would have to tear down the entire runway and loading dock to build a new people mover, which I hope they do in the near future, but until then. We have the old abandoned people transporter track to look at, admire and cry of course, for number four, we stay in Tomorrowland at Disneyland and head towards the Star Wars Launch Bay as it is known today or as it was known previously in the United States. sings o the Carousel of Progress o the interventions one of the three now chooses the structure of the interventions o America sings o the Carousel of Progress still stands to this day, but if the rumors are true, it will not be that way for long . seeing the first floor of interventions used to spin like a carousel, which is why I guess they called it the carousel theater when General Electric moved the Carousel of Progress to Walt Disney World's Tomorrowland.
America Sings moved out and didn't really fit the tone of Tomorrowland, so they eventually closed it, something that also ties it to the last entry on our list: the Tron SuperSpeed tunnel segment of the People Mover attraction went through the second history of the carousel theater interventions which opened in 1998 and was very similar to the interventions that I was unfortunately able to find at Epcot, however, because it was so similar, it meant that the interventions became obsolete very quickly. The Interventions then became a place showcasing Iron Man armor and stuff from the Marvel Cinematic Universe before becoming the Star Wars Launch Bay, unfortunately, although The Interventions have been rumored to be coming very soon with the addition of the new Tomorrowland at Disneyland, hopefully before Disneyland's 70th anniversary, so I for one say goodbye to the interventions, you will be missed and well, you did the best you could and that's all we can really ask for, going back to the father .
Of all the abandoned attractions, we head to Epcot in Florida and go to the Imagination Pavilion. Now, of course, the ride into imagination was a very classic Epcot ride that we'll miss, but we're not going to talk about the attraction today, no. We'll talk about the post-show, after leaving Journey into Imagination you'd go up to a little place I like to call Imageworks, well I guess that's what it was officially called, it wasn't just me who called it that now. I know what you're saying to yourself, you're saying Dalin Imageworks is still there, no I'm talking about a different image, you guys are thinking about the image, what if the maps are on the first floor of the attraction, but the picture works I'm talking about were there when Journey to Imagination opened and they were on the second floor, now they're gone, but if you look through a certain degree on the wall, you can see what's left of the once imaginative Superfund place I could play.
Leaving the journey into the imagination is now a Disney Vacation Club lounge, it just makes me wonder how much of the old image still works there and how much of it still works well. Since then, Disney has covered the cool to keep you from looking. the above image works but I mean everything will still be alive in our imagination right guys okay moving on to the last entry on our list is something infamous in the Disney Parks fandom let's talk about the water park abandoned at Walt Disney World River Country now I made a very very old video about River Country where I go a little deeper, you could see it here if you want to take a look, but very quickly River Country was a former Disney water park. which was attached to Bay Lake and was part of the Fort Wilderness camp.
River Country closed in 2001 not because of a brain-eating amoeba but because its water park simply wasn't doing as well compared to Typhoon Lagoon and Blizzard Beach that the park incorporated. Bay Lake water on its rides and slides, so I guess the water was very, very cold, which makes me not want to go anymore, as you can see in these multiple urban exploration videos that have been taken around the country, all It's still there and it's very dry. and nature is very slowly regaining control over Florida's wetlands On March 5, 2018, Disney officially filed permits for a mysterious new development called Project 89 to be built along Bay Lake and above where River Country is today and what is the mythical 89 project that is replacing the legendary River Country, it is a DVC resort, well there is always next time, so in the very near future you can walk up to the fence and look over it and see more of close to River Country, but don't go in because again.
You will get into a lot of trouble, what do you think? What's your favorite defunct Disneyland or Disney World attraction that's still standing?
