5 wardrobe updates that will transform your style in 2024

and maybe change things up a bit because over the past year you have evolved and that should logically be reflected in

as well. So here are five suggestions   to help you update your

wardrobe

this year.  Updating the color palette is the first possible strategy. Do you have one or two dominant colors in your wardrobe? Could you change them? Here, trends are your friends. To start, you can take a look at Pantone's color of the year for this year.

Each year, Pantone predicts a color that they believe

will

be everywhere and dominate the culture for the next year. And then the brands follow, which means they release items and clothing in that color, as well as colors that go well with it. You

will

get a harmonious color palette created for you by professionals to choose from directly in stores.  This year, the Pantone color is Peach Fuzz, a warm and inviting pink. I think it goes well with a wide range of shades and also as an interior design color. It's really quite versatile. Alternatively, you can look to catwalk trends for inspiration.

Remember that Bottega Veneta Green that so many brands copied.  Remember that Electric Blue from last year? It was   all over social media. Updating your wardrobe through its color palettes will work for you if you like a modern

style

because the colors that are trending in a given year, if you add them to your wardrobe, will always automatically give your wardrobe a contemporary, fresh and modern. . You usually don't have just the basics in your closet. You also have striking pieces.   However, what you consider a statement is up to you. It can be a key garment that you like to build your outfits with. It can be an accessory.  It could be shoes, whatever you want. Why change, especially these statement pieces, because it will force you to gently reconsider the way you pair and combine your items to create your outfits?

Create a challenge that you must solve.   For example, if my statement piece, pants, is a solid color, I might want to pair them with something that has a pattern and then metallic accessories.  If my most statement piece right now is a printed scarf, I could repeat one of these colors on top.  It all depends. It's a different situation.   With every new statement piece you add to your wardrobe, you're literally opening up new style opportunities in a very organic way. Number Three. Take your eyes off current trends and look to the past. Is there a specific fashion period or decade that you like?

For example, the 1950s, marked by waste, silks, airy materials, harmonious color palettes, often pastel shades for women, gingham prints, skinny pants. Here, you could just stick with the idea of ​​highlighting your waist or you could just take the idea of ​​a pastel color palette. It is important to understand this.   I'm not saying you should take the '50s as a whole and start dressing head to toe like a woman straight out of Mad Men. You can take just one look and integrate it into your own style, your current style, without changing it completely.  People will notice that mix.

They'll notice that your style feels very curated and retro in a good way, but they won't necessarily be able to identify, oh, she took that from the '50s and that's what she's trying to copy. It's not so obvious if you take just one aspect of that decade and make it work for you.  The next option is to define a key theme, something you would like your wardrobe to have more of.   For example, you decide that this year you will focus on sustainability. You will prefer to buy natural fibers whenever possible and when you need to buy synthetic fibers, for example for your sportswear, you will want these fibers to be recycled synthetic fibers.

You're setting the theme and so as you intentionally focus on it, you're going to have side effects, which is learning as you look at synthetic fibers, what can they be used for? Make mood boards of what you see on these trips, really observe people, stay in the present moment, ask yourself what pieces you could take and integrate into your current style. It will bring a new flavor as you learn to combine these disruptive new pieces, so to speak, with what you already had, and immediately your wardrobe will feel fresh again.
