foods

that you are

eating

incorrectly and the correct way to consume them so that we can get the maximum benefit from them. So, without further delay, let's get started. Hello friends! Welcome to Fit Tuber. Starting at number 5 on the list is Roti. For many of us, not a day goes by without

eating

a roti. It is hearty, nutritious and a staple in Indian cuisine. However, people often complain of digestive disorders after consuming roti. One of the main reasons for this is the way it is prepared today.

Blame it on our fast-paced lifestyle, but we often cook it on a tawa for a while and then quickly move it straight onto the fire until it's ready. This gives you a puffed look and also saves time. However, in this process, although the outside of the roti is done correctly but inside, it remains half cooked. Imagine roasting potatoes this way, where the outside looks cooked, even burnt, but when you dig deeper, you realize it's undercooked. Preparing roti this way tends to cause bloating and flatulence. This is not the traditional way either. Ask your grandmother and she will tell you that roti was prepared only on the tawa.

Sure, it will take 2 minutes longer, but then it will not only be cooked evenly but will also be tastier and easier to digest. Wait! You don't need to give up its puffy look either. Simply use a cloth, press it on the sides and watch it pop. Another useful tip when making roti is that the longer you take to knead the dough, the softer and lighter the roti will be. Many times we knead the dough at the last minute. Avoid this mistake. It is recommended to always knead the dough first, allowing it to set sufficiently while you prepare the curry.

Kneading the dough with milk and accompanying it with a salty dish is asking for skin problems. If your goal is to lose weight, avoid putting ghee in roti; instead, add it to the curry. These atomic tips will be a game changer for you and you will get the most out of this traditional meal. At number 4 is red chili powder. Spices are the soul of Indian cuisine as they not only add flavor but also dissociate their therapeutic elements into the food. However, if you often suffer from body heat problems like excessive sweating, hair loss, premature graying of hair or skin pigmentation, you should keep red chili powder at bay.

Being a strong stimulant and highly inflammatory, if used indiscriminately, it can cause inflammatory problems such as peptic ulcers and piles. Red chillies are used liberally in the coastal regions of India such as Andhra, Kerala and Tamil Nadu, but they are actually a clever way to combat excess humidity that results from temperate climatic conditions. Replicating the same on the plains is like using a heater in summer. So does that mean we start eating soft

foods

? Of course not. Red chillies can be easily replaced with green chillies when making something like parantha. In other preparations, red chili powder can be substituted for black pepper.
Ayurvedic scriptures propose Trikatu churan, which is a combination of black pepper, long pepper and dried ginger. This is an ideal red chili powder swap. Try it and you will notice that your body heat is reduced. Next on the list is the banana. Easy to carry, always available and an impressive nutrient profile is what makes banana stand out among other fruits. Not only is it easy to eat, but it has all the ingredients you need to recharge yourself physically and mentally. However, when I say banana I mean the ripe banana and not the one that sells like hotcakes in the markets these days.
A ripe banana is not solid yellow, but invariably has small black spots. The stem of a ripe banana is almost black in color and not greenish. Another indicator is that an unripe banana will not be very sweet. Rather, it can be unpleasantly starchy and bitter. The body finds it difficult to deal with a raw, unripe banana and fails to assimilate the vital nutrients it contains. In fact, if you eat these bananas regularly, it will lead to problems like heartburn, bloating, constipation, and allergic reactions. So the next time you go out to buy bananas, prefer the one with black spots.
If you can't find any, buy them and let them sit for a couple of days. Once the blackheads arrive, you're ready to get on. It is this banana that is not only a superfood but has a flavor that can surpass most of the sweets on the market. Bananas are high in calcium, but do you know what has more calcium? The fibers inside the banana peel. So don't forget to scrape them with a spoon and take them with you. Banana is considered synonymous with weight gain, although if you add 1 banana with black pepper 30 minutes before breakfast, it will help you eliminate excess fat from the body.
Banana with ghee and jaggery powder increases weight naturally. Therefore, it is not the written food but the way it is eaten that makes the difference. In position number 2 is the onion. Onion has a long list of healing benefits attributed to its name, but have you wondered why it is never consumed on an empty stomach? Why do some people abstain from it completely? Well, that is due to its tamasic nature. Simply put, the inherent property of onions is to promote dormancy. As an experiment, on a given day consume gobhi parantha and then on the next day eat onion parantha, you will significantly feel your energy levels decrease in the latter case.
However, make sure it is much less stimulating than garlic. While onions, in moderation, promote memory when consumed

daily

, they can reduce the power of concentration and promote feelings of anger and agitation. So, if you're a student preparing for an upcoming exam or someone dealing with anger or depression, skipping onions for a while can be a relief. Although Indian curry is incomplete without onion tadka. However, when we fry onions too much, they soak up the oil like a sponge and are then released inside the body, which promotes weight gain. Therefore, a smart solution would be to sauté them lightly and not until they turn golden brown.
Onions, when consumed as a salad in small quantities, benefit the most, especially in hair and thyroid problems. Overall, it is a powerful food, but it should be consumed taking into account your current mental state and your affinity towards it. Finally, your honey. Since the composition of honey is similar to that of human blood, it is easily assimilated by our body. It is not just a natural sweetener, it is a storehouse of micronutrients and is acclaimed in Ayurveda for its medicinal properties. However, since it is a sensitive food, extreme care must be taken when consuming honey, as it can even harm your body.
We often mix it with boiling water, herbal infusions or sometimes directly on the fire while preparing certain dishes such as honey chili potatoes or baking cakes. This is a mistake since honey should never be heated. Forget about nutrition, heat alters its natural composition turning it into a glue-like substance. Ayurveda equates this honey with a slow poison that tends to adhere to the subtle channels of the body blocking them. In fact, modern studies have confirmed that heating honey produces a compound called HMF. This HMF, when fed to the bees, significantly increased their mortality rate. When fed to rats, it caused serious damage to the kidneys and liver.
Even in humans, mucous membrane cytotoxicity, carcinogenicity, and lung damage have been reported. So if you want to remove excess fat from the body, mix honey with warm water, not boiling water. Honey can also be mixed with warm milk. So combining equal amounts of honey and ghee should be avoided. To be safe, if you add ghee to any dish, avoid honey. There is no doubt that honey is a superfood as long as it is consumed in the right way. These were those 5 foods that I felt most of us eat incorrectly on a daily basis. Knowing the benefits of a food is one thing, but eating it the way it was meant to be consumed is a completely different story.
