4 DOLLAR TREE DIYS | VALENTINES DAY BUFFALO CHECK FARMHOUSE DECOR | LITTLE RED TRUCK CRUSH

Feb 27, 2020
hello everyone welcome back to white sparrow living luke 12 6 this is wendy today we are going to make

valentine

s day crafts out of four

dollar

tree

s and we will make one in a neutral color and three in pinks and reds to start off with our first project, i got two of these plastic vases and a

buffalo

check

baby blanket in the baby section. Two of these sweet

little

pink birds and you can see one of them has dull feathers. these are from

dollar

tree

a while back and i noticed nowadays their inventory of these candles is much smaller so i hope you can find some bigger ones and then i got two of these candle holders these are glass and then some ears leftover lamb that i usually get mine from walmart for two bucks and then i have some wavy white chalk paint and some pink chalk paint but i didnt use the pink and then my glue gun scissors wire cutters and strings of chanel as well as some e6000 which is what we'll be using to attach the trays to the vases so first i start by removing the stickers on the bottom and this comes off very easily because they are plastic so it doesn't break or anything , as long as you do it Slowly and then I'm going to use my Waverly white chalk paint to paint the entire surface of the vases and also the candle plates so while the paint was drying I decided I wanted to do surgery on these

little

birds anyway so I took the feathers or the wings off the other bird and I'm going to place them on a paper towel so I can paint them and I decided that instead of doing the pink ones I would do a greyish color so I just I added some I went from my black paint to my white to make a nice gray and I just painted the whole thing over and it has these little beads on top so I painted over that as well and just dipped my brush into it so it covered all the way and then I painted the tail of the birds as well and then i went back in with my white waverly chalk paint and made some little strokes to mimic what the feathers would look like on the tail and wings so i then wanted to make two little bows for the sconces so first i got a straight edge and then i cup cut some single row strips of

buffalo

check

s and then i just folded it over and didn't attach it or anything i just went around and made three loops on each one this is actually going to be a little too big I find out later and so I made a smaller one so the smallest one had only three loops but instead of showing you again this is how it's done and then I made little slits on the sides so my t allo de chanel got in the way and then poof. it comes out easier so it's like an olivia bow but i guess i'm combining my strategy and olivia from olivia's romantic house so i guess it becomes a wilivia bow so now i'm going to cut out four hearts for each candle. holder and these two end up being too big but just to show you you fold it and then you make your heart by cutting out half of a heart and then I'm going to place the plate on top of the vase.

I painted the top of my vase, but you don't have to and you can. See I did it with just one coat so using my e6000 and my hot glue I glued the lids to the vases and then I'm going to put my birds back together now that the paint is dry and using my hot glue I just reattached the wings in its original position so I was going to use my pink ballet shoe paint to do this the edge of these but I didn't like the way it looked it didn't match my birds well enough so I used some gray paint the same paint i used to paint the bird's wings and it's a shade of czech buffalo grey, so i just added a bit of water and then did some weathered highlights around all the edges and the top edge of the plate the candle now i am going to take some of that greenery and just cut some of the leaves to put them together on my own o Using my glue gun i put together some of the larger ones and then put some medium size ones on randomly and made my own small group so i can put that on top of my candle holder now on top of my twig i'm going to place the bird i took out the clip that comes with the bird and then i hot glued that twig to the top corner of the candle holder and then i glued hot glue my bird on top of that and then I'm going to put some hearts all over the bottom of the candle holder, this was a lot harder than I thought just because it's hard to work with and now I'm really shy with glue guns since I i got burned so i hot glued it around the edge and then very carefully positioned it towards the bottom of the candle holders and did that on all four sides leaving a little bit dangling and just to give it a little

valentine

s day interest and then i'm going to place my bow on the front of whichever side i think looks best and here they are all done i think they turned out great r super sweet i love the birds and how soft the whole thing looks Neutral and gray color palette and that photo is very old those are my grandmother and grandfather they both passed away and now they are with jesus but i love looking back at his love and that reminds me a lot of the meaning of valentines day now for our second project i'm using this red christmas

truck

i got from rite aid for ten bucks it was on sale and then one of these dollar tree styrofoam hearts some floral foam and some of these little pink pearls that come in sheets some flowers assorted reds and pinks and some queens and lace a buffalo check ribbon from the hobby lobby this is regularly 9.99 but 50 percent off so it was only five and then a dollar tree pink burlap some ears of lamb and some of these hearts well actually just one of these hearts from the dollar tree and then the dollar tree carries the greenery too but i got this from my friend a so not sure where he got it and then just the usual supplies a glue gun wire cutters scissors and stems from chanel so first i had to remove the christmas tree and the little wreath on the top front of the

truck

and it was hot glued there so it was easy to remove now I don't want to do anything permanent to this because I still want to use it for Christmas and any other holidays or

decor

ations I want to do so I want to make sure it doesn't be permanent, so I just set the floral. foam inside the bed of the truck and then I'm going to take that styrofoam heart and notch it so it stays in place by going to the back door of the truck and then I'm going to take some of the roses and just cut the stems into different lengths because I'm not sure how long or short I want to make them and I did the same with the roses.

More Interesting Facts About,

4 dollar tree diys valentine s day buffalo check farmhouse decor little red truck crush...

I really love these roses because they have some red at the tips so I thought. which incorporated the two colors nicely and smoothly so now I'm going to take some of that moss and it was actually self-adhesive which was kind of a surprise I've never seen it before so it was very easy to work with for Of course, it's always messy and that's just what comes with working with moss, but I just cut it to cut. to cover the floral foam but at the end you can't see it completely so you can skip that step entirely if you don't have any so now I'm going to start tucking my roses in and I'll do a color so I can see that it's laid out evenly and then I'll come back to my roses and then eventually my holy aunt or St.

Anne's lace or not Queen Anne's lace, it's Valentine's Day so after I've got them all together and then I'll move on to make my bow here. I wanted to show you that if you have a stem that's too short, you can just take it out and cut a piece off another one that's longer and then just replace it so your stem is longer and you can make it stick out a bit more, so instead from having a wreath on the front of the truck i want ted to put a little heart in place of that so i took that styrofoam heart and i wanted to use this little hacksaw i got from the dollar tree so i i cut the heart in half very carefully and attached it to the front of the truck using hot glue and then i decide to add the pearls to the outer edge so you can't see the styrofoam so now i'm going to make an olivia bow wrapping three times each side of my buffalo check ribbon and then I'm going to notch both sides, very small notches so it doesn't go too far which is a little hard to control with scissors , so you just have to go slow and do one piece at a time. of ribbon at a time and then take your chanel stem and wrap it around and then pull the sides out and then I'm going to add a little bit of pink on top of that, so I use the same chanel stem and then wrap it upside down, after make the notches on this part as well now i'm going to take the whole bow and using the extra chanel stem that's already there i attached it to the back and this is where i'm adding the pearls to the heart so you don't see that foam of white styrofoam and they are self adhesive and they stick really well i was surprised and they are easy to work with because you can cut them where you need them so now there was a place where i removed the styrofoam heart holder and i wanted to cover that so i used the pearls again now the pink heart the styrofoam heart shocked me it looks more like a purple and i decided to change it with the red heart styrofoam piece so i don't know i like both i like both shapes but Let me know in the comments what you think if you like red or pink better and I like it both ways but here it is with red and I think it turned out super cute too so for our next project I'm going to wear some socks from the valentines day and the bandanas i'm wearing the buffalo czech pink and d bandana red some white rice oh it doesn't have to be white just some rice and a vase that's not going to be in the project but just to use to put the rice in the sock because we're making a gnome and one of these red hearts i didn't end up using the queen anne lace some lambs ear greenery and then a ribbon i got the pink burlap and a ribbon from dollar tree heart some rubber bands those little little ones and this is roving yarn which is yarn that hasn't been woven yet so we're going to use some of that and then I wasn't sure what size nose I wanted for him , but I had some accounts in my sum wooden supply and then a doorknob hanger in valentines day dollar tree section and then our supplies a glue gun scissors wire cutters chanel stem and we will actually need four of the chanel stems and we will First thing I'm going to do is take one of the socks and cut it off just above the heel and then I'm going to take that and throw it over the sides of that glass vase that I'm going to put my rice in there so it's like my second pair of hands. and then I cut a notch in the rice packet to pour it out and ended up spilling it, but I'm not going to show you that. so I filled it up and even when you think it's full and it can't go in any more you can tap it and keep tapping and keep filling and push it down and that way you can cram a bunch in there and then you can make it tall and skinny or short and fat like you want it to show so I took the elastic band and closed the top and then because it was a little see-through I went ahead and added a second sock in there because these are pretty thin socks so they won't be noticeable but if you flip them , it looks like it has a heart tattoo on the back so I thought that was cute so I just took another elastic band and closed that at the top and then cut off the excess sock at the top and then at the bottom I'm going to close it but first I'm going to put on the finger guards because again I don't want to burn myself like last time so I used my hot glue to close that bottom just by folding it over and closing that bottom part now I'm going to do his beard and all i did was take hot glue and made a line with it and then i just coiled the roving thread up and down and attached it to the glue and originally i had planned to cut the ends off because you can too if i dont have this i bought at walmart and i think i was like 17 but i love it but you could also use i've seen other girls use um the dollar tree cotton mops and those are really cute too but i like the way this looked without cutting it like this which I went ahead and was left uncut so now I'm just going to add a little more glue to make sure it's secure and his beard stays in place and then I'm going to decide which nose I want and I went with the biggest one like this which I hot glued it on top of the beard and then I made sure it was there nice and then I'm going to make his hat so I took the bandana and folded it in half and then I hot glued it and took my chanel stem and attached it to the bandana with a popsicle stick so again no burn and did it four times and then wrapped it over her nose and around her beard and then i had a finished edge sowhenever you have a finished edge, use it so you don't. i have to fold it over and add more glue so i put the raw edge on first glued it then put the finished edge on top of that now for the top of her hat i just used another elastic band put everything together then cut off the excess of chanel stems and then it was just covered with the overlay material and then for its sash I used the pink burlap and wrapped it and then hot glued it to the back after folding it over so now it had a finished edge I'm going to make another one little twig using my lamb's ear so I just glue I put together a few pieces and attached them to the top left side of her hat and then I'm going to make a little bow to go on top of that off of the heart ribbon and then I hot glued a of the bells on that door hanger on top of that then I took one of those hearts and left it on the stem and pushed it down in the middle of the elastic band and on top of its little hat there and then I took another piece of the heart ribbon and just tied a little knot.

I didn't make a bow because there was already a bow at the bottom so I just tied that one in a knot and here it is and I think he's very handsome he should have put his beard a little higher so it wasn't like a spike really you can't tell but i do so next time i do it or if you guys do it just make sure you make the beard go up a bit more but i think he's really cute and very valentines day and very from farm, I hope you guys like it too, since I had already done three different projects and this is a very important step, you have to take those little hearts and eat one, so our final project is g going to be a crown, so i took the 14 inch crown shape and this red truck happy valentines day and i like that it has the wood on the back so i wanted to show that off and not paint over it and then two of these steering wheel covers one one of them is a little hairier than the other, so I'm going to use that for the front and then some more of the hobby lobby buffalo check wired ribbon for five bucks never pay full price for anything at hobby lobby because it's still on sale next week and then some more of the pink burlap ribbon for that everything coordinates and then all our same supplies our glue gun scissors wire cutters wasn't sure if i was going to need the popsicle wire or if the chanel stems would work for this so i just threw it in there for good measure so i put it first thing i'm going to do is take the steering wheel cover and pull it over the wire wreath shape so i put the not so pretty one on. back so I'm working on the flat side and then I took the other one and pulled it to the front so most of the entire shape would be covered and there's a seam on the side so I can measure to see if it's centered or no and to make it even all the way now i'm going to take my little red truck license plate and place it using the chanel stem and i attached it to the back of the crown and i only did it on one side because it wouldn't reach and it would be where i wanted it to be so I went ahead and hot glued the rest of the body to the bottom of the crown shape so now I'm going to make my olivia lean and well in this case it would be an olivia because I'm using the folding method and then I have both types of tape together and then I do that zigzag pattern I'm going to do three loops on each side and then I do my notches and attach my chanel stem and when you get to the base part where you're going to alternate the tape that you pull to the left left and to the right so when you first do it you will either pull the l to the left or you will pull the buffalo to the left and the pink to the right and then you will pull the pink to the left then the buffalo to the right if that makes sense now i'm going to attach the whole lean to the top of the crown and just using the chanel stem i twisted it in the back to secure it and then i want to add some tails to it so i had to break the heart and then i cut two pieces to join. on each side and under the bow I lifted it up and then hot glued it on both sides to make it look like it was part of the original bow and also to cover the chanel stem where I attached it to the crown and the hole on the other truck side and here it is all done i love this i love the cheery bow and the pinks and the reds and normally i don't really like glitter but in this case for valentines day you can just go with the flow and be sparkly and shiny just to show your love and I love how it turned out and Here they are all together on my mantel.
