4 DOLLAR TREE DECOR DIY | COZY WINTER SERIES | USING BUFFALO CHECK BABY BLANKET | EPISODE 4

May 31, 2021
Hello everyone, welcome back to White Sparrow living Luke twelve and six, this is windy and today we're doing the fourth video in our

cozy

winter

series

and we're

using

all the Dollar Tree products. Our first project we will use the Buffalo Plaid Baby Blanket. a piece of microfiber fabric that you get in the hardware area, an eleven by fourteen picture frame and then this is a cutting mat. They come two in a package, but we're only going to use one and then for our supplies,

using

some Waverly white chalk paint and some black Apple Barrel acrylic paint, a white Bistro chalk marker and all of those paints are from Walmart and then we're going to use silhouette cameo three, so I've got some gray vinyl transfer tape, my putty knife, weeding tool. and squeegee, my glue gun, the ruler and the scissors, and I don't use the Chanel stem, but I do use the sewing machine, but that's okay, if you don't have one, just use a needle and thread because what we're making is super simple. and then I have a piece of cardstock and a white pencil, it doesn't matter at all, this is just for a pattern and then a little pom pom that we made before in another video and I'll link to it in the description box. so let's start with our photo frame and these are very cheap of course I mean it's only a

dollar

so you have to be careful when opening the little stands because two of them fell off but that's okay because what We are Placing it there is real light and it doesn't have to be super safe, but enough to stay in, so having three sides was nice.

So we'll start with the painting and I mixed the black and white paints to get a gray and I did it in a tone that would complement the Buffalo plaid

baby

blanket

so you just want to paint this on there and it fits really well so it doesn't have stains or you know, be uneven or something, so then I painted the whole frame. and you want to make sure you get the inside as well and I recommend putting it on paper towels because as you can see you can flip it over but also in between layers you can put it aside and work on something else so here I'm going to take that cardstock and just trace my hand a little bit bigger than your actual hand, but just to give you the shape of a mitten, which is what we're going to do, so after I cut out the mitten, I'm going to pin it to the Buffalo plaid fabric.

More Interesting Facts About,

4 dollar tree decor diy cozy winter series using buffalo check baby blanket episode 4...

I have folded it and if you remember in other videos about Buffalo plaid fabric, there is a grain in it, so you have to be sure that you are going against the grain. So that it doesn't separate in this situation, it doesn't matter much, but every time you cut it, you have to know where the grain is so that it doesn't disintegrate in your hands, so after cutting it. You're going to do this twice so you have four pieces total, so now I'm going to sew those two pieces together and I just used a pretty small one, I think it was a two as far as my stitch size, so it was pretty close together so that don't fall apart because again the fabric isn't that good so it may fall apart but this will hold it together when you have a smaller stitch so once I made that I wanted to make little cuffs or edges for the mittens like this So I took some microfiber fabric and I cut it into strips and then I'm going to wrap it around the top of the mitten, but first I'm going to glue the edges together to give it a When I was done, once I finished that, I took some of that batting and put it inside the mitten and then you don't want it to be too full like a fluffy pillow, but enough so that it looks like there are little hands inside and I started with the thumb just to make it a little easier, but I just spread the batting apart to Make it a little spongy.

Now I'm going to attach the cuff and I just put hot glue in the middle on the top and the bottom wrapped around it and then I'm going to glue it on the back with another tablespoon of hot glue and then using a little more microfiber fabric, I'll fold it in half and cut out half a heart. like we used to do in elementary school for Valentine's Day and make a filled heart, this one was a little too big so I ended up cutting it out, but just to show you how I did it and then I'm going to hot glue them on. to the small palm area or towards the top where the fingers of the mitten would go, so once you put those on, I'm going to take my glass, wipe it down, and then use my Bistro paint container. random circles to imitate snow and I made two different sizes, just some big ones and then small ones, and I have the cardboard backing behind it so you can see it, otherwise it would be on the white work surface and you couldn't see it.

So here it is all done. Now I'm going to measure where I'm going to need to put my words and then I place my gloves over where they're going to go and then I can measure to see how big my decal needs to be. Be it like this for the word

winter

I used the font anise Tina and for hugs I used caramel cream and I will put it in the description box below so you can see if you have a cutter and would like to use them and I downloaded them. from dafont.com and you can get those fonts for free.
I was asked to make a tutorial on how to download those fonts, so I'll make a tutorial that goes over everything and do it then. Hopefully the video soon too, if you don't have a cutter you can buy it from my Etsy shop which is White Sparrow Living and all this vinyl weeding and everything is ready for you and it has the transfer tape there and ready to go . when you receive it, if you buy it, then now I'm just cleaning it and getting it ready, to put it together I take the small cutting board or mat and I had to shave it a little to fit inside the frame, so I did it with just a pair of scissors normal and now I'm going to take a piece of the Buffalo plaid

baby

blanket

and measure how big it needs to be for the background to be and it's going to go behind that film just to give It's a very soft snowy look and I wish you could see it in person because it is really dreamy, pretty and soft.
Anyway, the photos don't do it justice, but it is very pretty and super easy to make. so now I've put it all back together and I'm attaching the little brackets by folding them and then I'm going to take the decal and I'm going to place it on the glass towards the top now once I've written my words I'll be I'm going to hot glue the gloves on and I just overlapped them a little bit over the frame just to make them pretty. I don't know why, so now to hang it I'm using a piece of white tape that I had in my stash and I just used some hot glue and stuck them together.
I should use my rubber thimbles. I never remember what they are called, but I don't and I'm going to pay for that in the next DIY, but then I just tied that little pom pom. -pom to the top and then it was ready and you can also use this if you don't want to hang it or don't have a place to hang it, you can also put it on a plate holder and place it on the counter. but I think it turned out very nice and it reminds me of my grandchildren and I was going to use my granddaughter's hand to outline but she has been sick so she is better now but she was going to be the little hand and those would be her hands hugging me at all times to our next project we will use the same

buffalo

plaid baby blanket and a microfiber cloth, some scrubbing sponges and these come in a pack, that gave me a little inspiration and then one of these plastic headbands.
They come three in a pack, but we're only going to use one, my glue gun and scissors, and I used a black bow and another pom pom in this DIY that I didn't show here, so the first thing we're going to do. What we are going to do is cut a couple of strips of the microfiber cloth and then glue them on each of the sides to give it a finished and smooth edge and then taking one of the headbands we are going to start gluing it on the inside so that the little things sharp edges on the inside don't hurt my granddaughter, so I'm not using my thimbles, my rubber thimbles here and this is where we have such a bad handcrafted 911 and I mean my fingers still have blisters because it burned me so much. so I decided after the fact to put on the rubber thimbles and a viewer had told me they had some at Dollar Tree so I had the ones I found after she told me but I went ahead and did the 10 fingers because it was just horrible guys it still hurts so be careful and many of you had been warning me the whole time saying you were going to burn yourself so I did it anyway now we're just going to cover that headband and I did the bottom. first just to make it fluffy and then I wrapped it again on top and then glued it on the inside.
Now my daughter is helping me because she was afraid of burning me again and the headband wanted to close on itself so I needed a set. of hands and was afraid that it would burn her, so she armed herself with rubber thimbles and yes, it was a real adventure, so now I'm going to take the scouring pads and I'm going to cut them up a little. and keeping them circular, we will cover them with the Buffalo plaid blanket and these will be Mickey ears. I don't know if you saw that in the thumbnail, but we are making some Mickey Mouse ears in the winter batches.
A lot of people were still braving the cold and going to Disneyland, so this is a fun craft that you can also do with your kids before you go to Disneyland, so I'm going to cover the entire sponge and just cut slits everywhere. around and then as you see just fold it using hot glue and then I cut a circle to cover the whole weft where I gathered everything on the back so here's a tip if you get burned cold salmon works wonders so After I took my lunch break, I placed the Mickey ears on the headband and then I'm going to attach that black bow to the ears by putting hot glue behind the bow loop and after that I'm going to put another pom pom.
Make a pom pom right in the middle of that black bow and then I'll add some lamb's ear and a bell to embellish it and here it's all done and it's funny because my niece was here when I was working on this and this was all her. idea, she had even grabbed the bow and did all the design herself for our next project, we will use a baby blanket, a milk jug or bottle, the glass type, some of these chalkboard labels, that white paint pen, some lamb air from Walmart and some jute twine and pinecones left over randomly from Christmas, my glue gun scissors and wire cutters and then some white chalk paint and black Apple Barrel acrylic paint and the first thing I We're going to do is start painting that glass bottle and I applied very light coats to this so I think my paint job was pretty good and not like I normally do so I'm getting better every time so you just have to cover the whole bottle of milk and approximately two and a half three layers are needed afterwards. it's dry, I'm going to add some black acrylic on top and I'm going to take my paint container to make the little front label there, but actually that won't even be seen because I'm going to put my label on top, but since it's a winter label , you can take it off for off-season use at any time, so I cut a piece of Buffalo

check

blanket and measured how high I wanted it to go because I'm going to wrap the bottom and it turned out.
It's going to be about two and a half squares of the Buffalo

check

, like this which I just wrapped it and then cut it to the right size and then I'll hot glue it on and I have that selvage edge that I can use as a finished edge. It will look nice, clean and tidy after that. I wrapped some jute twine around the center of the Buffalo plaid fabric and ended up wrapping it three times and then tied it once, not quite yet, and then I'm going to add some lamb air to the side and of course I was able to find a small twig that would work, I simply made my own by attaching three leaves together and then glued all of that on the side diagonally to the right.
At that point I'm going to add some pinecones, but they had some glitter to them and I wanted them to be snowy and wintery and not look like a fall

decor

piece, so I painted them and then while they were drying I took my white paint. pen and I just wrote warm milk on the label and then I'm going to put two little dots next to the milk and then I'm going to take some jute twine and I'm going to put the bow through and then I'm going to put the ends through that and then I'm going to tie it to the front of the jug and I just wanted to cover the small circle area there, so now I'm going to make a little bow with jute twine and I just made three loops on each side and then I tied it to the part that I hadn't tied yet and that's what it will hold it in place, so now that my pine cones are dry I'm going to cut the edge off one part just to make it a little flatter so that when I stick it on it will stay in place. so I placed two different pine cones at an angle to each other and then there was a little empty space so I took some of the Buffalo plaid blanket and cut a very small piece and then tied it in a little bow and heated it up.
I glued it right in the middle where there was a small gap and here it is all set. I'm going to try to make a hot chocolate bar coffee bar video soon so you can use this just empty on that or you can use it as a vase. and put some lamb's ear inside or you could even put a candle on top. The candle was also very cute when I tried different ways to use it, but overallI think it turned out very nice just for a bottle of milk and the total cost. On this it was good, a

dollar

, maybe two because I have leftover tags and I'm just using scraps from the Buffalo check and some twine and paint, that's all, so I'd say this was maybe a dollar.twenty-five, so I think It is a very good purchase now for our final project.
We're going to use this board and it's really cute as is, but we're going to change it up to maybe use a coffee bar theme. and I'm using a plate holder and then my vinyl, my Apple Barrel black paint and the first thing we're going to do is remove the little piece of chalk from there, they glued a piece of chalk on the back so you can use it. and then take off the jute twine hanger because we're not going to hang this, so using my black Apple Barrel paint I'm going to paint over all the words so we can't see them, but it still looks like a chalkboard, so I left my towels on paper and started painting just to cover those words.
Now I'm going to prep my vinyl while the paint dries and it took me about three full coats to cover those words because they were white. I'm going to transfer the lettering, they're all in white font or white vinyl so it's hard to see, but it says "help yourself warming station" so we offer coffee, cocoa, Jesus hugs hot tea and loves you, so which I thought was cute because that's how you can help yourself, so I'm going to apply that to the board and use my squeegee to get all the bubbles out. This is a pretty large decal so you have to be careful with the letters that appear when I'm removing the transfer tape because there's a lot of glue on there and once I've removed it I'm going to embellish the top of the sign so of course There's a lot of room there, I'll have to do it. improvise and think of a way to place my arch so what I decided to do was stick some popsicle sticks to the back of the sign and I used about five and then let it hang past the end so I could place it. my bow, so to make the bow I'm going to cut some strips from the Buffalo plaid baby blanket and I just did a folding method but I'm going to put two sets together.
I didn't even put the pieces together so I just used some pallet wire and connected them and my battery died when I was making the bow but here it is and I connected it using a piece of Buffalo Check salvage trim that I cut off when I made the bow so I think it's really cute how it turned out and it's really soft so now to add some greenery here I'm just going to hot glue it and place it in the middle and actually glue it to the board and then I'll push it down to make sure it sticks. safely and here it is all done and there is the dollar

tree

plate holder that we used to put it on and I think it turned out really adorable.
I love the message and I'm going to use this in the coffee bar setup that we make and So I hope you like it so I just realized I didn't come off the decal but it will be there next time check this out so if you liked this video leave a thumbs up comment and let me know what you think and I appreciate all the comments I've been getting and all the love and support.
